Sprint GS9 stuck in 3G - Samsung Galaxy S9 Questions & Answers

I was in and out or roaming quite a bit lately and now my device is stuck in 3G. I've reset the factory provisioning many times (which fixed the issue before). After the phone reboots it grabs lte for a few seconds then reverts to 3G and remains there. I've done profile updates and prl updates without any success. Sprint told me that it's because they are are combining the 2 networks but I don't believe that.
Any suggestions?
Thanks.
Update.
My device seems to be hoping lte bands like crazy. Maybe they are updating the network. Usually I'm on bands 25, 26 or 41. Now I'm on bands 2 and 71.
Changing network mode from automatic to lte/cdma, rebooting, seems to have helped a bit. I can "hold" lte now at least.
Update.
I'm back on 3G. I'm all ears I'd anyone has a suggestion.
Update.
I had to get a new tmobile sim. All is well now. It would have been nice to know I needed a new one. Hopefully this helps someone with the same problem.

Rogers Note 2, cannot connect to HSPA, only EDGE or LTE

Had a note 2 that was busted, sent in for repair, they sent me a refurb back.
Noticed on this one internet would sometimes stop working until reboot. Until further investigation found that none of the HSPA bands work. (APN settings are correct). When trying to connect on HSPA it looks like the radio crashes, and it completely drops signal, and you get the stop sign icon for the antenna.
Tried every HSPA band through *#2663# (or whatever menu you use to disable LTE).
I dont want to send it back for repair as it takes Samsung a freaking month to "repair" it. Any ideas anyone? This hapenend with the stock rogers modem, and with the latest rogers modem.

Phone stays on HSPA when LTE is available

So I own a D851, currently on T-Mobile with good LTE speeds in my area but quite often the phone switches to HSPA and doesn't utilize LTE coverage when I need it. I end up having to either switch data off/on or accessing the radio settings menu and setting it to LTE ONLY. I understand the slower network coverage saves battery but to just stay there I don't get when I'm getting download speeds of 9mb on HSPA and 30mb on LTE in the exact same spot. The thing that sucks about setting the radio to LTE ONLY is that I can't browse while on a call. Anyone know a workaround?

I had the same issue with ATT, unlocked phone. Made sure the APN was correct, tried may other APN settings, and finally called Consumer Cellular. They advised I did, indeed, have the correct APN (my first version). They did some type of reset on their end, and viola.
On my OnePlus it was the similar. APN was correct, same APN as the G3, but until I called CC, and their reset, phone would not show LTE at all, only H and H+
apn settings?

What are the apn settings that are working for you? I've tried several times to address this issue with CC but lte STILL isnt working on either of our 2 devices. Had no problems when used with an att account.
I am still having this same problem on my LG G3 (vs985) on Cricket Wireless

Can not connect to 4G/3G.

Hello there, I'm in need of your help again.
My SGH-M919 has a problem, it cannot connect to 3G/LTE (Not even EDGE). My carrier uses the 850 mHz band for GSM and 1900 mHz for UMTS, so the phone should be able to use them. The thing is, it doesn't. It only connects to GPRS and the signal is very erratic and weak (Usually 2-3 bars). Sometimes I get SMSs from my carrier saying that I missed like 5 calls when my phone never rang once. I live in a zone with good 3G coverage, so it's not the signal.
I'm currently rooted on Android 4.4.4 (NH7). I already tried selecting "1900 WCDMA" in the *#2263# service menu but that only causes the phone to lose all the signal (And it's a problem to change it back, without signal the service menu doesn't work and I cannot change the Network Mode in Settings).
I've tried to select "WCDMA only" mode before, but my signal just goes to zero (The circle with the slash) before changing back to "LTE/WCDMA/GSM (Auto connect)" automatically.
I also cannot use the Network Operators option. Using "Search now" makes it search for a few seconds before showing the message "Error while searching for networks". The "Select automatically" one shows the message "Unable to connect. Try later" and then connects back to my carrier (Movistar)
My APNs are configured (They did it themselves when I inserted the SIM, but I've configured them manually before). The SIM card works, I tried it in another phone and it got 3G immediately, I also tried another SIM card on the GS4, but the result was the same. Someone told me to upgrade to the latest firmware (NK2) while someone else told me to flash the MDL modem. (Is that even possible? I read something about KNOX blocking all downgrades after 4.3).
Since I couldn't find any direct solution to the problem, I'm recurring to you.
Thanks.
P.S: I didn't change the LTE Band Preference option in the Service Menu because the last time someone messed with it, my IMEI/Baseband went completely nuts, I thought the EFS got corrupted, but they magically appeared everytime I enabled the Airplane Mode (So I was able to select Automatic in the ServiceMenu and they got fixed). Also, I don't live in a LTE area although once during a very strong thunderstorm, I got 4G for a few minutes before going back to G).
*bump*
Any ideas?
Did you put a check mark in data roaming?

I've tried with and without it, it doesn't make a difference anyway.
Does it show you have an ìmei # other than all zeros?
Don't post it just a yes or no.

My IMEI is fine, the phone connects to the carrier network but it stays on GPRS (and the signal is always dropping)
Update to full NK2 firmware and see if that will fix it

I'll try that later. Will I have to re-root and re-install TWRP after flashing NK2?
I have a similar problem with my M919 on the Tmobile network. Using the *#2263# menu I can not get mine to work on WCDMA (4G) either. I can chose GSM /LTE only and my phone works normally but no 4G signal. If I chose WCDMA I get no signal. I can see it trying to connect and immediately dropping the signal. If I choose any option with WCDMA included it has erratic signal and will lose the signal most of the time when I try to make a call. So basically I have the choices of GSM only or GSM/LTE only. Before I discovered the secret menu I was stuck with GSM only in the phone's settings. This has been going on for months. Tmobile changed my SIM card and it didn't help. I've rooted and unrooted my phone (using autoroot) and even tried different modems (even worse signals) and now am back to stock rooted NK2 firmware and modem. I have given up and decided to get another phone (not an S4). My wife's S3 gets great 4G signals in the same location by the way. I wonder if anyone knows why our phones can't use 4G. I am beginning to think it's a hardware problem but I'm way out of warranty on mine.

Verizon PRL problem

Let me first start out by saying that I know people have been saying to never do *228 on LTE or phones with SIMs. I was doing it for years on my Gnex and never had a problem, it even updated the PRL in some cases.
Recently I was in a rural area with my 5X and it was bouncing between 3G and LTE a lot, I figured why not perform an update just in case. My phone was served 53977 and been stuck on 3G ever since. I tried taking the SIM out and rebooting many times. It just won't serve me the other PRL for LTE.
Wife's identical phone has 15457. Is there a way for me to download the PRL off her phone and serve it to mine manually?
I'm on CM13.0 - 20160610 Nightly. I think I'm on the latest baseband M8994F-2.6.32.1.1 and vendor. TWRP recovery.
Did a factory reset...flashed factory image. It is stuck in LTE now. Under "Service state" Voice: Out of service / Data: In service
I can't make calls. Nobody knows where to find the PRL file?
have you tried just calling Verizon Wireless and explaining your problem of not being able to make calls? They can probably remotely re-provision your phone.
I try to do as much as possible on my own, since I still have unlimited data I don't like to call VZW for anything. I think you're right I may have to do that at this point.
The PRL is the preferred roaming list, I don't believe it has anything to do with native coverage on Verizon, only updated roaming partners and towers.
You should not have to update the PRL on the 5x. Do a factory reset, and have Verizon activate a new Nano Sim for you. Just put the sim in and you're good to go. No need to mess with any APN settings either.

Samsung Note 10+ Signal Fix Sprint (If Needed)

1.)Remove third party potential threating apps just to be sure.
2.)Always make sure the phones up to date on the latest firmware.
3.)The next step is to go to the dialer ##72786# that forces the phone to reactivate.
4.)Next step go back to the dialer and dial ##3282#
4.2)Go to edit
4.3)Then type 000000
4.4)Then go to LTE
4.5)Then go to band 41 that is enabled and uncheck to disable.
4.6)Then go to band 25 that is enabled and uncheck to disable.
4.7)Then go to band 41PCII that is enabled and uncheck to disable.
5.)Reboot the phone don't expect full LTE service yet there are still some more steps...
6.)Go to settings find VOLTE and enable. Search VOLTE in the search bar to enable it.Swipe right on the button to turn it on. New icon will pop up at the top of the phone if done correctly.
7.)Then go back to the dialer and type ##3282#
7.2)Go to edit
7.3)Then type 000000 again
7.4)Then LTE again
7.5)Then go to band priority
7.6 & 7.7)Set both bands 41 and 25 to the bottom of the list by typing the number 17 on band 25 and 18 on band 41 and that pushes them down the list. Make sure band 26 is set to 1 on the priority list.
7.8)Then turn off your phone and turn it back on.
This fix is broken from a network reset or ##72786# update or Samsung software update. So reapply the fix after each update or network reset

Why are you telling people to put b26 as highest priority. And put b41 as the lowest? B26 is 5×5 for the lowest spectrum and up to 10x10 or maybe 15×15.
While b25 is lowest 10×10 and up.
B41 is maybe TDD 20mhz/40mhz/60mhz up to 160mhz
B41 is really fast.
Its better to let ##scrtn# do the reprogramming and activate the sprint service and leave everything the way it was.
Changing priority or disabling the lte bands do not help the signal fix.
Only power users would put the b41 as the highest priority to have the highest speed. I guess you dont like sprints b41?

There are some areas to where b41 and b25 does not work well in rural areas like in WV for example, if people have roaming issues this fix does work. This helps with battery life. That is why I said (IF NEEDED).

You didnt state this is for rural areas anywhere. It seemed like you meant for all sprint users. Because people like me that live in big cities can use it the wrong way.
Also the sprint phones already have #1 25 #2 26 #3 41 priority as default.
B25 is nationwide and is faster than b26 anyway. The phone and the towers will load balance the service accordingly. So its best to leave it as is.
I think where sprint doesnt have good coverage, im sure most people wont be with sprint at that area. There are smaller carriers that have better coverage for some areas.
For roaming, theres a limit of how much you can roam and it differs by each plan and to whom you roam to.
For me it is 300MB for all carriers except tmobile.
Ive been to rural areas in my state. If i dont have any sprint bands to connect to or have very weak signal, I roam to a diff carrier like US Cellular by itself. You may think itll save battery to change priorities but its the same because it will always want to connect to sprint first.
I just dont want sprint users to take this and lose some of the great benefits of B41.
And also there are some areas that do B25 + B25 carrier aggregation.
This was an issue with the S10 and S10+...I have permanent data loss on.my S10+..little to poor reception away from my wifi...got run around trying to replace it..but got greate deal on trade in for note 10 +...v
I hope I do not have the same issue like this..or will return the phone and go with something else..dare I say even an iphone if I have to

Stop here on my SM-N976N, dialing ##72786# nothing happens.
Maybe someone could help me: I'm on Vodafone, no more VoLTE calls since upgraded from Note 9 no brand to actual model.
VoLTE is active, no doubt.
Tried with another SIM from other carrier: VoLTE logo appeared and eveything works fine.
Any suggest?

lol.. this thread is clearly for sprint users or ppl using their device on sprint with sprint csc..
if the dialer code doesnt work for u then its not allowed by ur carrier/csc.. that or u can enable it after rooting or by changing ur csc
Yep, I can read since I was a child, but this is a forum so it's normal to ask.
Thanx for your answer, the SM-N978N must be NOT bought, definitely.

Well let me tell ya my situation that I'm dealing with maybe we can help each other! Okay so I also have a note 9 N960U that I also can not get VOLTE, the issue is that Sprint never integrated a APK that gives me the VOLTE feature in the Pie Update, but in Oreo they DID. So I wonder if its because of the Android Update and the Vodafone doesnt support VOLTE on the current Android Build that you are on. Its like when Microsoft took DVD Maker of Windows 7 out when you updated to Windows 8 8,1 or 10. I'm trying to get more information and if I come across some more information on XDA to help your cause I will let you know.
I am on sprint. Followed this to the T and got the screenshot of the slow speeds. Followed steps 1-3 to reset the data and got the fast speeds. Not sure about your priority but I guess it can't hurt to try and see if it works for you. You can always reset if it is slow.

i think OP should change the threads' titles reared towards rural people. people take your advice and use it for other ways.
you are spreading wrong info. do you know that you can roam on tmobile lte? it is better than having no lte or just ehrpd.
stop spreading nonsense
