With all this hoopla about screen burn-in issues with the 2 XL, I'm a little nervous about the clock and notifications location on the ambient display not moving around.
With the LG V30, Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8, the clock/notifications move up or down by about 1/2 an inch every now and then, to prevent screen burn-in. From what I've noticed with the 2 XL, this does not happen. It's making me nervous about keeping Ambient Display enabled.
Aside from disabling Ambient Display completely, I don't know how to resolve this. Any ideas?
Yeah don't use ambient display lol

From my observation, it does move slightly when the minutes update. Not nearly as much as other phones, but it shifts nonetheless. Very similar to how my Huawei Watch shifts the clock face slightly every minute to avoid burn-in on it's OLED screen.

Hi, I have a Homido v1, and it is too much small for the oneplus 7 pro !
Does someone could recommend me a VR headset compatible ? (size and maybe resolution)
I think it could be a really good mobile for VR games.
Thanks.
Hi, I bought the homido v2 because it fits.
But the screen size is too big for the lenses, I have to zoom out the content to be good, but not all games have this feature (tested with fibrum, there is the function "correct lenses").
It's strange that there is no VR headset compatible, this is not the only 6.6' screen size.
I think it's the aspect ratio that's the issue.
Ok, so there are just 2 solutions, we wait for a compatible headset, or maybe there is an app to change the ratio ?

OnePlus might even come out with their own since it's their highest resolution phone so far and full screen display.

Thanks! I wait for your feedback.
I already saw this one, I think they updated, because now it's: 4 - 6,5 inches. that's good.
But the max size of the phone is: 163mm * 83mm, the onplus 7 pro is 162.6mm, so it should be fine, but I would like to know if it fits with a case.
And also what about the comfort ? The phone is pretty heavy, so with the homido v2 it pushes on the nose.
Thanks!
Google daydream VR headset is working great with 7 pro. You'll need to install daydream enabler module over magisk, and limit display to 60Hz.

I tried it in a store, and it is too small.
The phone exceeds on the sides.
And why 60hz?

Size is of no concern at all. It's made to hold large phones such as pixel XL. Software is not supporting 90hz. It will work, but you'll be bothered by some pixelation issues.

Okay, but the screen ratio is good ?
I mean the width distance of the lens?
Because if I remember well, the daydream was comfortable.
Yes, everything works perfectly! Here's current special: https://mashable.com/shopping/deal-june-14-google-daydream-view-vr-headset-amazon/

Anyone get any further here?
Yeah, I know this is silly. I'm considering "upgrading" from Note 4 to A70 but don't want to have any narrower screen than the one on Note 4.
I measured the "lit" area of Note 4 to be roughly 7.1 cm wide. (Here's my ultra scientific method of measuring it)
So, if any of you could do me a favor and measure the width of the A70 screen, would be awesome!
Thanks in advance! <3

Yeah, I know the reported measurements, and from that I could calculate the active display width, but I don't trust rendered product images to be very accurate with the actual display area :/.

Tomsguide.com says both Pixel 6 displays are "rated for 800 nits peak brightness in High Brightness mode".
Google Pixel 6 review
The Google Pixel 6 delivers the best Android experience for the money with superb cameras, a unique design and Android 12
www.tomsguide.com
Other phones per Displaymate.com testing:
Pixel 3 XL = 434 cd/m2
Pixel 4 XL = 448 cd/m2
Pixel 5 = 670 nits (per Reddit)
iPhone 13 Pro Max = 1042 cd/m2
Galaxy Note 9 = 1050 cd/m2
Galaxy S20 Ultra = 1342 cd/m2
OnePlus 9 Pro = 1649 cd/m2
800 nits doesn't totally suck, but it's not "great" by todays standards.
A bit of a letdown if it's true, especially considering that the 6 Pro is rumored to have a Samsung display.
Sunlight visibility isn't only about nits, but it sure helps.
That would suck if true. I have an OP 9 Pro as well and even that could be brighter in sunlight
Ugh. Way too dim. I live in Miami, and I bought the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra because of its bright display and even that I can BARELY read outdoors during the summer months here. We need 2000+ nits on phone around here.
I'm very concerned about this. I currently have a Note 20 Ultra at 1500 nits. I very rarely need to push the brightness, but when I do, it's there. At 800 max, this is one of the first test I'm going to run.
Google hasn’t listed the exact screen brightness and instead only states it has a high brightness mode, but to my eye, it’s as bright as the iPhone 13 Pro that hits 1,000 nits of sustained brightness.

With any luck, for the unlocked model once rooted, will be able to have a custom kernel that enables at least a high-brightness mode like I used to use with the Pixel 1:
https://elementalx.org/devices/
and the HBM app to go along with the kernel: High Brightness Mode

Yep. Hopefully tbalden will implement his kernel (CleanSlate) for this phone. He not only has a High Brightness mode but a High Brightness Boost mode that is fabulous in bright sunshine for the Pixel 4 XL.
My delivery date has updated again, back to Oct 27-28. Guess I can stop holding my breath till I get my way
I have 20/20 vision and I can barely stand the brightness with today's phones even in bright sunlight past the half way point on the slider. But I digress.
One complaint I have about my Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ is it doesn't get dim enough when being used in the dark. It doesn't automatically go to the lowest brightness most of the time, and even when I manually lower it to the bottom, it's still way too bright. It's relatively rare these days that I try to use my phone in the dark, but through root on my Pixel 1, I was able to go even lower than it got without root - which was already lower than my Note does. It is nice having the screen be able to get so bright, although in the brightest sun, it was still slightly difficult to see, and it's more important to me that the software works the way it was meant to - which is not what I get with the Note.
you can't really tell but it is as bright as my s21u. you can't tell the difference. people who say otherwise are straight lying.

I'm with you, have 20/10 vision and light sensitivity so sunglasses anytime I'm outside that's not after dark and have every piece of glass in my car tinted including the windshield so I suppose we are in a slightly different category than most in this thread.
Checked Pixel 6 Pro today at Bestbuy, felt P6P is not as premium as S21 Ultra. S21 Ultra build quality felt premium to me, the back being matte feels like metal, also S21 ultra screen quality is better (brightness and richness of color etc..).
Check the attached screen comparison pic (both are at 100% brightness).

I don't know bro. You probably held a defected 6p. However, I can comment on the colors. That's because Samsung devices have the option to have vivid screen mode. This is something you can achieve on the 6p with a custom kernel. It comes down to preferences

Do you know what display options the Pixel 6 Pro has? For instance, the 4XL has Natural, Boosted and Adaptive. The 2XL has Natural, boosted and saturated. I believe Adaptive is default for 4XL and Boosted for the 2XL.
@droidguy22 Did you notice these options while you were playing around with it?
I did not check. But I also heard that many pixel owners see no difference between natural and boosted.

Very slight difference between natural and boosted on my Pixel 4 XL, but noticeable difference with adaptive compared to those other two.

Googles high-brightness mode can't be toggled/manually "activated" by hand (except if you root and force that), so most people just max the slider and then make a comparison. That's why there is a lot of confusion concerning the "doesn't get bright enough" - But that's bull****. It won't work. You need to go into a direct sunlight situation and then and only then the phone will max out. It's hardcoded and is only active when the phone sensors scream "supa bright!!!". It's Googles way to do it and it sorta sucks, but that's how it is.
So if people want to make a brightness comparison, they need to be in a very bright spot to make sure that the Pixel phone will actually max le brightness. If you just max the slider in a room with normal lights, the phone will not go into high brightness mode and your comparison will suck a*ss, because those Samsungs or Apple phones will shine your daylights out.
By the way, what helps Pixel smartphones (at least the P3 and P4 XL that I owned showed that) massively in terms of readability is decent anti-reflective coating/glass. A phone with decent anti-reflective capabilities and 800 nits is much better readable than a phone with 1100 nits and bad anti-reflective capabilities.
I know. Real max auto brightness (when the phone detects very high brightness) is very different from the max manual brightness just by sliding the brightness bar to the end. Next time you check, try flashing your phone flashlight right next to 6p's front camera and the brightness should jump up even higher.
The Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro are on display at many Best Buy stores. My initial impression of the 6 Pro was it looks just like the Galaxy S21 Ultra from the front, and the build feels very premium. The "Stormy Black" is only black around the frame and a rather dull gray on the back, however a case will be covering it up for most people anyways. The Cloudy White or Sorta Sunny are more striking for those who don't use a case. The phone is very fast and smooth with a completely clean software experience. The screens on both models was adequately bright but max brightness appears noticeably dimmer than the S21 UItra. Camera quality was outstanding but it was hard to do any comparison. The smaller Pixel 6 is not as premium feeling, it looks just like the Galaxy S20 FE, and the screen is not as vibrant. The Pro is definitely the winner and should satisfy those who want a "Samsung running stock Android".
Android 12 feels a bit incomplete. As of the pre-release software in store, there was no way to customize the Always on Display style, the color picking from the wallpaper was very limited, and there are no icon or font customizations. In many ways, it feels like Google is going the route of Apple by taking away any customizations that drastically alter the look and feel of the phone. I'm hopeful that the bootloader is unlockable so that we can tweak things a bit more. I'm looking forward to getting this phone.
The smaller 6 looks better than the Pro to me. The real difference is screen curve vs flat. Even the QHD is barely noticeable in real life. I wish the Pro had that flat screen.

Thanks for sharing this impression. Was it the 6 or the 6 Pro that were dimmer than the S21 Ultra?
Did you manually adjust the brightness slider all the way to max on the Pixel & Samsung?

They stated the 6 pro, which goes along with what another thread was talking about, not going higher than 800nits. I don't think the person is mentally challenged, I'm sure they checked the sliders.
Pretty much every YouTube pixel 6 pro comparison, they said it is on pair with the s21 and the iPhone 13 max. I can vouch for them because I have seen it in person. I couldn't tell the difference

Thanks. Coming from an s21U who's display and brightness is stunning, I'm hoping the P6P can match it.
I too had an experience of holding the Pixel 6 Pro and Pixel 6 at my local BB. For whatever reason, the device will keep resetting whenever I tried to swipe up to go to the home screen. I went to a local O2 store in the UK earlier, to get a 5G ready SIM for when my Pixel 6 Pro arrives.
They had a Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro on display. I didn't get a good look as the store was empty and was attended as soon as I walked in.
Yes, all the phones were set at Max brightness. The S21 Ultra was definitely brighter, though the Pixel 6 Pro was still more than adequate for the bright store lighting. The display saturation on the 6 Pro is great, and very similar to the S21 Ultra. The regular 6 screen had a more muted tone to it but seemed about as bright as the pro.

Went and saw one myself yesterday at BB. Made me more excited for the phone. I'm most excited about the bigger size. My hands/thumbs are big and I have a hard time messaging. Anyway, the screen was gorgeous. You can definitely tell the difference between its fluidity and my pixel 4xl. No lag, no stutter, which I experience often on my 4xl. I didn't get but maybe two or three minutes with it though. I'm definitely happy with my purchase. It'll be a big upgrade from my 4xl.

Holy crap, that nausea inducing animation will be the FIRST thing I delete. Hopefully that boot time is a function of the "alarm" thing jammed into the USB port and is not indicative of reality, otherwise it looks insanely slow. Boot animation on most phones runs for about 5-10 seconds.

The resetting was probably because the devices were running on store demo. It cycles through some images/videos .. you have to close the demo to use the phone normally.
Also, that animation looks like its from the demo too..
Also, seeing reports of heat from the demos, which I also noticed. However being at 100% brightness and charging, I can't fault them for running warm after 15 minutes.
Can someone reply what is the front camera quality on 6pro?is it blurs the face like the pixel 5?
How's the volume, always struggling to hear my pixel 5 around noise.
