Hello guys,
I have been reading all I can about the TP2 on different networks and I'm taking the plunge to buy an unlocked TP2. The only problem is that I'm torn between which one I should buy. I have searched all day and havent found the answer.
1) I like the features on the Verizon version but I have a deciding question - Can the Verizon version be used on the TMobile network? That is very important for deciding.
2) What problems am I likely to face using unlocking/HARD SPLing the Verizon version to work with the TMobile network?
I use TMObile at the moment with no intentions of switching carriers.
I would appreciate any positive help. Thanks
No-
VZ is CDMA and TMobile is GSM -
Not compatable
Prubin is right, but not telling the whole story.
A fully unlocked VZW TP2 will let you use a TMO SIM card and you will get GSM calling. Just no 3G on data, only EDGE speeds as the VZW TP2 does not have the proper UMTS bands.
I'm using with both Verizon and prepaid Tmobile (only 1 at a time). You will need to sim unlock as well.
As previous post stated, you lose 3G, only EDGE. Prepaid has no data but I was able to browse t-zones sites just fine. And you'll probably lose Tmobile specific apps.
Hi Everyone and thanks in advance,
I have a T-Mo Galaxy S4 that was SIM unlocked through unlockerDotnet.
I've heard that the T-Mo S4 is better than AT&T for a variety of reasons, but more importantly that it picks up all of T-Mobiles HSPA+ along with AT&T's network. So in theory, having it sim unlocked, I could fully utilize t-mobile's service and at&t's service to their full potential. Can anyone confirm this?
Reason I ask was I was speaking with a TMO rep once and he said the international unlocked version wouldn't pick up on the full spectrum of TMO frequencies, but it should be fine with AT&T. Ideally I want to get into a situation where I have the option to jump between the two through their full spectrum, or any mvno's that use their towers as well.
Thanks for the clarification! Details and specifics appreciated!

T-Mobile's phone will work on both AT&T and T-Mobile however im not sure if the 4g LTE will work on AT&T's Network but either way you will only be able to use one or the other at any one time.
I moved to Charlottesville, VA recently and the Tmobile coverage is really awful. Is it possible to take my rooted Tmobile Note 3 and use it on the Verizon network? I know it works on AT&T as I put my buddy's SIM card in and was able to connect to the network, but Verizon has the best coverage out here.
If I have to flash a new ROM or change the radio that's fine, I just need to know how to do it and if it's even possible.
No, not possible.

It is impssible to use a T-Mobile phone on a Verizon network. T-Mobile and AT&T run on the GSM type of network and Verizon and I believe Sprint run on CDMA which aren't capatible. It doesn't matter if you are rooted or not.

I've seen several instances of Verizon customers using their Note 3 on Tmobile. Just thought it might go the other way.
Verizon LTE devices come SIM unlocked for legal reasons (Verizon made a deal with the FCC not to SIM lock their devices in exchange for being able to use LTE Band 13 700 MHz).
Some of their older/"first-gen" LTE devices don't support GSM at all (e.g. Galaxy Nexus). But all nowadays do. The Galaxy S4 and newer support T-Mobile's LTE band. LTE is a GSM-based technology, and people travel as well. So pretty much all of their phones are GSM-enabled nowadays. Same for Sprint (except their phones will reject any US carrier SIMs specifically).
Anyways, the answer is no. AT&T and T-Mobile devices don't have CDMA enabled. And even if they did, Verizon and Sprint don't allow competitors' phones onto their networks.
I want to get this phone but might want to switch carriers soon. I was planning on doing the Sprint EasyPay for it and paying off the rest of the phone if or when I decide to switch carriers. After I pay it off in full and unlock it, would I be able to use it on T-mobile, AT&T, Verizon, or any of their MVNO's? Basically what I am asking is does the Sprint S6 support the necessary bands that the other networks operate on, and if so, would calling or texting still work? I have heard of some phones that have a SIM card slot for the LTE SIM on Sprint, but voice and text don't work once unlocked and used on another carrier.
Thanks,
Kyle
I would really like to know the answer to this as well. I have been searching without a definitive result.
Specifically, can unlocked Sprint phone be used on Verizon?
We currently have GS7s
So I had put this there also
But I thought better chance of people here having done this already...
My family has been with sprint for decades.
We have never done a carrier switch.
Family plan.
All phones carrier unlocked.
We have 3 GS7s with sprint firmware.
Two are sprint hardware
One is U hardware
PHOENIX market. Tmobile 5G.
Looking to change all 3 #s to tmobile family plan
Replacing the two sprint GS7s with GS20+
And keeping the GS7 U (sprint firmware)
But changing the GS7 U to tmobile.
Not worried at all about the new GS20s.
Concerned for what to expect of the kept GS7 U (sprint firmware).
Will tmobile flash new tmobile firmware to it?
Will tmobile turn on the proper tmobile radios?
Will the sprint specific bloatware remain and not be uninstallable?
Do I have to do the tmobile firmware/radios myself?
Thanx

Does GS7 "U" mean it's unlocked? If you purchased it unlocked you can put a T-Mobile SIM in and it will work.

i mean im not a gs7 owner for years assuming hes talking about a galaxy s7 which might have issues on tmo if it doesnt have much gsm capability since sprint is of course cdma..
im just gonna stick with sprint and get a sprint s20 ultra 5g seeing as how sprint and tmo are now the same company and sprint users are already able to roam on tmos network and s20 5g owners can already use tmos nationwide 5g as well as they currently have 0 down for new lines and upgrades and sprint is usually the cheaper option (although im on an employee swac acct)
to add tmo wont do anything to the device firmware or anything of the like.. if its unlocked and capable they could probably activate it.. if not then it wont work or u might have some stuff work n other stuff not..
good luck on the switch.. we'll all be under the new tmobile soon enough lol
