Can't flash custom rom on SD card - Redmi Note 8 Questions & Answers

Can I ask a question pls, I don't know why but I tried many sd cards and many recovery and flashed stock miui still have the same problem I can't flash any custom rom if I put it on sd card I have to put it on internal storage to flash it
it give me corrupted zip if I put custom rom on sd card

Your SD card is corrupted may be or the phone can't recognize while flashing or it has bad format. If your SD card's condition is good then format it to 'exFat'. Then put rom into it and try flashing.

When you do full stock RUU , the sd card dont have nothing to do , just Internally. But you can format the sd card and put the factory SD folder i prepared and zip in here: http://www.mediafire.com/?6vm3l1d47kx2vs8 Decompress the file and open it and throw all the folders inside in you SD card after format. You SD card will show up as factory
Enjoy it!!

What are you talking about????? The OP clearly asked if anybody had the original files from the stock SD card, thats what he was giving him, a way to return his card to stock. Of course he doesn't HAVE to do that to his SD card but for whatever reason he WANTS to.

?can you flash rom from sd card

Quick question, can you install a custom rom from the sd card using twrp or does the rom need to first be installed in the internal storage before flashing? The reason I ask is that I was trying to install a rom from my sd card last night (brand new card) and the card fried. Was it a random event or is it not the right way to flash a rom onto this device?
Thanks in advance

[Q] SD Card Mounting too late

since few weeks i am observing with differents roms (KK ,JB, ICS all) the SD card after reboot is not getting mounted immediately, mostly it is taking about more than 5 minutes after boot, and also sometimes not mounting untill i click on an app which is installed is SD card.
and walkman also talking so many reboots to find media(songs) in SD card after new rom install.
is it card problem or anytinh else?
Try with another card and see if the problem still persist.

format your card with minitool or easus and then try again. just connect your phone to your computer with the sd card in ums mode and format it to fat32 (if it is <=32 gb).
obviously you should backup the stuff on the card to your pc first ^^

[Q] Partition SD Card

Just formatted my SD card and now wanted to reflash a new ROM. However, there are no ROMs on my card when I look at them through recovery. The ROMs are on my SD card when I look at the SD card on my computer. Do I need to repartition my SD card? I did a factory reset on my phone and now I'm in a boot loop. Please help.
Thanks

Are you looking for file on internal or external SD? Are you in the right directory?

Ok,
1. Forget about re partitioning your card.
2. Use es file Explorer (or similar) to locate the files on your ext sd card. If you can see it/them then you know you are looking at internal storage in recovery.
3. Change to "storage: micro SDcard".
4. Flash away...
