When you do full stock RUU , the sd card dont have nothing to do , just Internally. But you can format the sd card and put the factory SD folder i prepared and zip in here: http://www.mediafire.com/?6vm3l1d47kx2vs8 Decompress the file and open it and throw all the folders inside in you SD card after format. You SD card will show up as factory
Enjoy it!!

What are you talking about????? The OP clearly asked if anybody had the original files from the stock SD card, thats what he was giving him, a way to return his card to stock. Of course he doesn't HAVE to do that to his SD card but for whatever reason he WANTS to.

Hey guys, about to purchase a 32GB SD card and was wondering what the process was. Do I connect both the phone and the SD card to my laptop and just pretty much drag the whole "Removable Disk" from my phone to the new SD card and just swap them? Or is there a more complicated process?
If ur old SD card is not partitioned then just make sure u can view hidden files and copy full contents straight over to the new card.

Can you explain that in a way that an idiot can understand it?
I will be replacing the stock 8GB SD card.

Greetings fmedina2,
That means that insure that what ever file manager your using (no one knows what OS your computer has), find the settings that allow you to decide what is shown within each directory - owner, permissions, date/time created, date/time modified, etc...
Just make sure that the "show hidden/system files" option is shown - extensions too, if it's available.
This will insure that you will not overlook any files, when you attempt to copy them over to your new sdcard.

I'm getting a new, larger capacity SD card soon. What is the best way to migrate to the new SD card? Copy everything over using a different reader? Copy to phone, then to SD?
Thanks in advance,
Scott

I would just copy it to my computer, then back to the new card. Just what I would do.
Will there be any permission settings/issues? I'm cool with that suggestion, just want to do it right - once and for all.
I'm rooted w/Unrevoked, a few things cleaned up, but that's about it - stock ROM.

Not on you SD card, you should be fine. If you have any problems you can run "fix permissions" in ROM Manager, but again, you shouldn't have to.
Edit: I've done it a couple of time with no ill affects.
Thanks. Looking forward to having all my music readily available. Hard to believe with 7 gig of music I never have that one song....

Quickest way is to copy from 1 SD card to the other, rather than copying to the phone or your computer & then to your new SD card. I plugged the phone into my computer, inserted the new SD card into my computer & then started copying from Windows Explorer.

This didn't seem to work for me. All my applications that had been moved to SD are no longer showing installed. I copied the entire contents from one to the other (both mounted on my PC), no errors, but when I put the new SD card in, no apps!
Any thoughts? Anyone?
Cheers...
Check your card to see if it's formatted as fat32 format.

That could be the reason.
Just picked up a 16gb card and I am wondering do I have to do anything special or just copy everything from the old one on to it and plug it in?

I'm not sure if it is required, or if this is even the correct procedure....however, when I got my new 16gb sd card, I put it right in the phone, and then used the phone to format the sd card. I believe the option to format is in menu>settings>sd and phone storage or something like that. Once the card was formatted, I then transferred all my filed to the new card. I've experienced no problems at all. You could also use your computer to format the card FAT32 before you copy your stuff to it. Won't hurt anything.

Yes he's right, but you should be able to just put it in and it'll work regardless
I've managed to use AAHK to turn my sd card into a gold card.
At this point, I'm thinking of changing my phone to s3 mini. Can I use this card like a normal SD card on the s3 mini? Or do I need to get a new sd card?
If I need to get a new card, is there a way to "ungold" the card? I assume "ungolding" the card is probably to format it. If that's the case, I can just copy the contents out, format and copy the contents back right?
Thanks!
Throw it away, give it away, format it, use it in a new phone, etc. Nothing about "gold card" is affected.

You can use it normally, Samsung devices do not need goldcards. The boot partition of the sdcard is not used in a usual basis, just for situations like flashing PD98IMG files, so you can leave it as it is and will no have an issue. Formatting it won't help..
I just got my phone yesterday. I had copied the files I needed from my old phone over to my SD card. This morning I copied several files FROM the SD card TO the phone without any problem. However, when I tried to copy files FROM my phone back to the SD card, files would not copy. Any thoughts on why that might happen? Is there a setting I need to change? The card is formatted in exFAT. Might that be the issue?
I'm considering saving my files to my laptop and reformatting the card. Can that be done on the phone? If not, when I reformat using my laptop, what format is recommended, FAT32, exFAT, or NTFS?
Thanks.

A learning curve, I guess. I'm moving from a rooted phone. I guess I can expect surprises. So...essentially, I can copy TO the phone from an SD card, but I cannot FROM the phone to the SD card. And I can't delete files on the SD card using ES File Explorer (as an example)? The only way to manage SD card files is by using USB or putting the SD into my laptop? Hmmmm. It also looks like apps may not be able to manage its own files if the files are kept on the SD card; is that correct?
All correct, except:

Apps can manage their data if it's in the right place, see http://www.doubleencore.com/2014/03/android-external-storage/
