Selfie camera in S20+ SM-9860 - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Questions &

Hello,
I don't like how my S20+ takes selfies with custom camera app: face is innatural both for the colors (they tend to be lighter) and for the smoothness even though there is no beauty effect active. This distorsion is even worst by taking video with front camera: in this case faces are too smoothed and "beauty effect" (which is disabled) is too evident.
Besides camera is not good in capturings light colors of eyes... my blue eyes are dark in photos.
I tried to change color tone from settings but I don't like the final results.
Iphone, indeed, makes very great jobs with selfies because colors and smoothness are very natural.
I wanna ask you:
1. Do you have any suggestions on how setting the camera to get more natural faces with selfie camera?
2. Do you know an app that could make better job?
Gcam was quite good but now it doesn't work.

?

Camera Pro's and Con's. Review

What can you say to camera?
I think everythin is amazing on this smartphone, but the camera is not that good.
I do not know if its because of the software. But what do you think? Pro's and Con's of the camera.
Con's:
i think OIS
OIS is missing on alot of camera sensors especially those 20mp+ phones, Its not a biggie unless the camera holder has shaky hands. Also, we can't mourn over LG's signature Laser AF technology either.
Personally, the pixel size being smaller is a big hit on the head for a 16mp sensor. Moreover, it disturbs the low light/iso photography as well. LeEco's own camera software applies some kind of smoothing filter to eat alot of detail on the compromise of noise removal.
I've taken pictures from Cyanogenmod 13 and they are alot better than EUI camera.
Ok thank you.
What is a gold camera App for shooting pictures?
5.9 for China adds EIS to camera. I am betting when we get that update pictures and video will look better.
The quality is bad when u zoom in the photos, especially in low light condition

P10 Camera Talk Thread

anyone have success in running google pixels camera on P10 for HDR +, and what other camera apps You use ?
I use Cortex camera for quality slow photography (multi processing) like S8 but much more frames (s8 takes 3 photos and combine them) Cortex use 10 - 100 photos for best quality.
I also use A better camera, but still missing Super sensor option on P10 for best output.
Stock camera use too much sharpening for landscapes and distance objects, but it is fine for near objects...
I've not had any problems with the stock camera and can't get Google pixel camera to install.

Google camera apk with hdr enabled
Not working with my mate 9
Anyone having problems with the panorama photos they are crap! The joins are rubbish and any horizon shots I take look like the Manhattan skyline!

Looks mostly fine to me when shooting horizontal panoramas. The only vertical panorama I've shot is blurry on one half and I don't like manual switching between shooting vertical and horizontal panoramas. Overall I like samsung's panorama user experience better but I think I'll live
The Huawei Leica camera also use stacking when processing the pictures.

Yes but stack bw & color photo? result is fine details but also some noise is present.
The P10 raw image have very high dynamic range. So it can stack them like the Pixel does.

Yes they are ... Huawei have to improve ?
The panorama is really not good. I hope Huawei will fix it soon.
For now, I have a photo for you all I made with my P10. Nothing edited, shot in manual mode free handed.
Hola
RE: P10 Camera a talk
I'm seeing much better results than Pixel or iPhone 7.
Quiet satisfied with the camera but I hope they will port PanoSphere to their Camera Mode
This is one shot with a really hard light, the phone however did a really great job.

Just casually run into this thread (I own a Mi5s) since I have also looked for alternatives to Google's multiframe hdr+.
On the Mi5s Cortex works wonderfully on low light still subjects. But my favorite app is Snap Hdr Camera on multiframe Nightmode (usually set to 4-8 frames) for those shots that require iso 400-2000, much faster than Cortex, and better than Better Camera on my phone. Incidentally Almalence, Better Camera's developper has licensed its technology to Huawei in the past.
Is there a way to completely disable all the beautification and bokeh options for the front camera? I don't like the effect at all and disabling it every time can't be the only solution.
That's weird. On my phone, it's only on if i left it on the last time I used the camera..

What is the best camera app in terms of stability/quality?

I'm running all-stock on my OnePlus 5T and while I'm ok with the camera quality, I was wondering if there is anything better?
I like using the 'Portrait' mode and looking for maybe an app that can do it better maybe? I had a Huawei P9 that did an awesome job blurring the background and the blurriness could be changed after the photo was taken to "focus" on different elements in the shot.

GCAM with aux lens working [No Root]

Today i found a thread here on xda claiming that a developer named Wichaya has a gcam port in which all the lens work completely fine.
I went ahead and downloaded the latest version and loaded the respective config file. Everything works perfectly in the port. I'll share the link for everyone to try and test it.

All lenses are working... but in my case, the macro lens cannot focus. Anyone else is experiencing this?

Installed on my OP7T and everything seems to work correctly. But does anyone know which "AWB in HDR+ Enchanced" setting is best? It gives me 3 options (Pixel 3, Pixel 2, & IMX586).
I don't really notice a difference between the 3 options.

Our phone doesn't have any dedicated macro lens, instead it uses ultra wide lens for taking macro photos when using OnePlus camera app I think,, though I'm not 100% sure about it. 7T has 48MP wide (main rear cam), 12MP 2x telephoto and 16MP ultra wide. That's why a specific 'macro' button isn't there in the Gcam screen on 7T, like it shown on that XDA thread which I think that phone has a dedicated macro lens.

I clicked 3 photos in 3 different AWB settings and i can say that Pixel 2 AWB has the warmest color rendition whileas Pixel 3 AWB has somewhat lowered down warmth. The IMX586 AWB has the closest to real life color rendition. You can test it in greenery and blue skies, where the difference is clearly visible
Can someone help me understand the 3 buttons that's appear on the botton left hand side after loading the XML configs. I am interested in the first two actually. One with the SUN icon and the second with the finger pointing.

This makes sense, considering that's what sensor the 7T uses.
I could be wrong. I honestly do rarely claim to know what I'm talking about
However, seeing that it's apparently still being used in newer models of OnePlus as well as numerous other manufacturers and models (262 in total, counting the 7T) according to this kimovil.com page, I wouldn't be surprised if before too long we start to see improved versions of the algorithms used in this camera on other (arguably better) models find their ways to the 7T.
Edit:
Check out GSMArena's camera compare tool between the 7T, the Asus ROG Phone 2 and the Nubia Magic 3. All three use the same sensor. Since the sensor's the same, it begs the question: Is the hardware between the sensor and the OS any different, or is the improvement of photo entirely in firmware?
I wouldn't mind having photos like that ROG 2 come out of my 7T! Look at any fine detail area, but I like comparing the "Series 2013" on the five-dollar bill of the "good light" sample. I gotta say though... I didn't look at the "low light" sample before, but our 7T (stock) does better in low light than the other two I chose for comparison. Maybe there's something to be said for it -- especially considering night-time photography is a thing I want to play with...

Sun icon is Exposure Compensation (Automatic with A and Manual with Sun icon), AWB is Auto White Balance with 3 different modes. Finger icon is Focus Tracking Button (On and Off)

Yes, there is a lot of difference in the algorithms of every smartphone vendor. Despite all of them having the same hardware, the details, color, white balance etc. all come out to be different. Like everybody wants to have GCam because of the Image Signal Processing it provides, which is way better than any other manufacturer.
Any idea how to enable 10 bit recording in bt 2020?
It works but slow motion recording crashes the app. It also takes time to switch between the cameras. Any solutions for these issues?
Thank you, thank you, thank you. This is what I have been waiting for since getting this phone. Wow what a difference this makes. My only question is how can I adjust the sharpness of the front selfie camera? Like all Gcam apps the selfie camera is way too strong and the sharpness needs to be toned down but I cant find any of the settings to do this.
Any possibility of getting full resolution with Gcam mod, it is giving only 12MP in rear camera
I've been using this mod for quite a while but couldn't figure out a way to get the DNG (RAW files) working well with any editing apps ??*
Using newest Wichaya 3.1.1 and it is fantastic. Very accurate pictures, (too accurate, if you have an ugly face like moi. The night shot is slightly slower than stock, but works well. Also, the macro actually zooms closer than stock by a good margin! Use the wide angle lens and just zoom in!
Do the aux lenses work with the new Android 11 beta?

Updated my OnePlus 7T to Android 11 Beta 2 and, unfortunately, it looks like the only lens working is the main one. The others just show a black screen but at least it doesn't crash.

GCam for Exynos S10e - Colors are washed out. Help?

Hello,
I'm currently using the GCam 8.1.101 ruler version (https://www.celsoazevedo.com/files/android/google-camera/dev-bsg/f/dl14/) for my S10e Exynos, and it looks really bad, there are a lot of problems, such as:
Noise on the very top and very bottom of the photo
Colors are really washed out, sometimes it feels like it is a black and white image
I was expecting more dynamic range (black zones are deep black) since I'm using the Enhanced HDR+
I mean the Gcam on my OP3 does a lot better photos, I'm not gonna lie, is this because of the Exynos version? Is there any way to solve these problems?
I'm really ok on downgrading version to stable like 6.x (I just need normal mode and night mode on back camera) but I don't know which one works better. If possible I would like to have easy to understand control on colors, shadows, exposure and lightning.
I already tried looking into the forum for other version but they all have something that doesn't work or washed out colors, so please give me any thread if you know one, thanks.
I don't mind about the non-working selfie camera or new features such as slow mode, astrophotography, etc..
If I need to put some sample photos, let me know
Thank you very much everyone.
