Now I'm on stock Android 9 (very first build) + Magisk.
Everything is fine. I've never want to flash android 10 (or LOS 17.1). Because not much differences between 9 and 10.
But now, when Android 11 is released, I really want it.
Any ideas, guys?
I cannot find any plans about possibility of development adroid 11 on Pixel XL.
Thanks in advance.
There has been indeed a question about Android 11 in "PixelDust Android 10" thread, to which the ROM creator replied: "I will give it a try". So we'll have to be patient for now.

Over on RR I believe, someone said their friend got AOSP 11 booted and built for it, but is having RIL issues; that's hopeful at least.

They have a tree assembled already apparently, it's just that RIL is broken. I asked how broken but it may take a few days for him to see it.

I do believe they can
Yeah, so the dev that's currently working on porting 11 to the Pixel is going to be busy for the next few days, so porting is on hold. Although the bugs have been resolved, the reason it's being held back is because he's trying to get GApps to fit on the phone, and is also doing an 11 bringup for the S6.

I hope he can get it, he's a smart man. Much more than I with my basic knowledge on building and assembling trees.

Just thought I'd throw this out there because the 1+3 is my first 1+. Can anyone with past 1+ experience give me an idea of first, whether we should expect to get Nougat, and second, if we can expect it, how long after the initial release will it be released for us?
Well, I meant to post this in Q&A, but I guess discussion works too.
Judging by the 1+2, yes, half a year after N goes official.
But who knows, maybe they improved, we got a quick RAM and display fix after all, so I'll say it'll land on january 17th 2017.

It's not like my post was even lengthy...
Official update for sure takes months. But i hope CM and AOSP brings us a (more or less stable) N beta some weeks after the launch. So maybe for christmas this year.
Thanks Hatshipuh and Tiz92. That seems like a reasonable time frame.
Oh, and extra points to Hatshipuh for an exact date estimate!

Well said. Wasn't there a pic floating around of the op3 running a preview N? I remember seeing it somewhere online bit I didn't care coz I never thought I would buy this phone at the time.
It was a fake. There were "0"s with different fonts.
History is a cyclic phenomenom.
At each new Android version the same threads, with the same answers: we don't know.
The correct answer is: When it's done. And sooner for custom roms.

Come back to future bro, lol
It's better to not count on getting Android N.
And even if it comes, there is a probability that certain things in a N update will be annoying or worse than on Marshmallow so that many users will prefer to not update to N.
But that is OK - on my LG G2 which I used for 2.5 years I still have Android 4.4. And it works, so what?
I heard that Android Nougat will be "6.1". Is it true?

No, it will be 7.0
I don't pin my hopes high of getting android N anytime sooner than 1 year. I will be relying on custom ROMs. The only thing i will be missing is camera quality. Photos on custom ROMs just don't match with what i can get with stock. Hopefully we get alternative.

android n for one plus 3 ? in Feb-March 2017 , they have a history of slow updates. best to assume more time to avoid horrible disappointment lol . but who will stay on stock for so long ? i just hope the op3 gets a cam mod that makes us utilize the slow mo video recordings in aosp/cm roms.. then id go ahead.

Check this out..
https://plus.google.com/+varund7726/posts/BeSViUDtVpH
Summary for RR
Final N build will come out when sept security patches are out
No work has started by us for O yet
When we start the work on O , main branches will be kept private till we carry out our tests
O builds will not come out for a month or maybe more
Though it does not mean individual RR developers are not working because then you also have this
https://plus.google.com/+AkhilNarang/posts/Hup1zPxKNyW
Devs are working hard to bring up O for OP3 they are working in the background. Expect some alpha builds to drop next month for sure
Because of project treble being introduced into oreo, I'm not sure how it will effect custom roms. Pure nexus roms will be easy, Will insanely feature filled roms like rr could very well be alpha or beta till december or january.

Treble won't ever see this device and to be honest I'm betting the oem disable it in the majority of devices. Googles hope with treble is not something that will be useful for about 5 years or so.

You can try. @Berni-0815 he works for z5 compact but he has a big problem. Maybe you can help him.
No way!
You could try to build AOSP 9
Android 9 is a no go for now. I plan to build LineageOS 15.1 for Z5 Premium. Expect to see more news in the few weeks/days. Don't expect it to be a full on stable release, that's probably going to take months. Sadly it seems no one cares enough these days so I won't be all that motivated.

I'm still learning my way around Android so as I said before don't expect it to be stable out the box. I can't guarantee anything for now, but I can promise that I'll get some sort of functional build of Oreo in the end. The only thing I'm worried about right now are the proprietary (closed source) drivers that may hinder certain functions from working.

Sure man, really any effort you could offer would be greatly appreciated and not just by me, I'm sure there's others following as well. There was a developer on this forum who attempted to port oreo to the z5 premium but he ran into issues and gave up. One thing that I can remember without checking the thread was that the camera completely didn't work. Do you by any chance have access to a z5 premium to test it on?

That is what I read as well, and yes I do own a Z5 Premium (single sim) which I will be doing my testing on. I haven't seen anything about Oreo for our device but I have seen attempts on other devices such as the Z5 and Z5C. They seem to have issues with certain functionalities like the camera as you mentioned. This is due to the proprietary blobs not being updated to support Oreo if I'm understanding this correctly, which is also my biggest worry. I'll be working on 7.1 for now just to make sure I'm going on the right path before shifting to Oreo. One of the things I want to bring to this device is Omnirom. I remember using it on an older device with kit kat years ago, and it was my go to back then.

I've just refurbed my 5t for my daughter and I couldn't believe the amount of roms and all that good stuff, it's been ages since I visited the 5t forum, android 11 roms too, i had a poco f1 that is crazy well developed :highfive:
They had just barely announced what devices are getting the update. But as stated, we're likely to hear something regarding our device by end of October, mid-November, latest. Or at least, we hope.
Some new info here, makes sense a stable build will be Q1 '21:

The beta has been right up to date all along with the security update.
For those that are experiencing issues with Fingerprint sensor, there's an interesting project to add Face Unlock that is gaining traction. Here's the xda thread that explains how it works..
Also, a few custom ROMs have added Face Unlock, such as Derpfest Raviole (maintainer FullOfHell). It adds a bunch of other customization options and the latest version is stable with improved performance over stock.
Just wanted to add that face unlock is less secure than fingerprint unlock which is even less secure than a long PIN or Password. You should only be using face unlock if you know the risks (and of course it doesn't have to be used).
Still holding up hope that Google decides to add this to the P6. Even though it's doubtable after half a year of them not giving any indications.
I'm also still holding out hope google adds it
in Pixel 7 Pro only lol I bet
ОТAgree! I miss Pixel 4(((

That really doesn't help much. Is there a feature list, what is included, what doesn't work? Just saying it's stable is very limited information. Is there a reason it's not on XDA?
Yeah if the Dev wanted it on here, wouldn't they make a post? This whole thread seems like an ad
