Just thought I'd throw this out there because the 1+3 is my first 1+. Can anyone with past 1+ experience give me an idea of first, whether we should expect to get Nougat, and second, if we can expect it, how long after the initial release will it be released for us?
Well, I meant to post this in Q&A, but I guess discussion works too.
Judging by the 1+2, yes, half a year after N goes official.
But who knows, maybe they improved, we got a quick RAM and display fix after all, so I'll say it'll land on january 17th 2017.

It's not like my post was even lengthy...
Official update for sure takes months. But i hope CM and AOSP brings us a (more or less stable) N beta some weeks after the launch. So maybe for christmas this year.
Thanks Hatshipuh and Tiz92. That seems like a reasonable time frame.
Oh, and extra points to Hatshipuh for an exact date estimate!

Well said. Wasn't there a pic floating around of the op3 running a preview N? I remember seeing it somewhere online bit I didn't care coz I never thought I would buy this phone at the time.
It was a fake. There were "0"s with different fonts.
History is a cyclic phenomenom.
At each new Android version the same threads, with the same answers: we don't know.
The correct answer is: When it's done. And sooner for custom roms.

Come back to future bro, lol
It's better to not count on getting Android N.
And even if it comes, there is a probability that certain things in a N update will be annoying or worse than on Marshmallow so that many users will prefer to not update to N.
But that is OK - on my LG G2 which I used for 2.5 years I still have Android 4.4. And it works, so what?
I heard that Android Nougat will be "6.1". Is it true?

No, it will be 7.0
I don't pin my hopes high of getting android N anytime sooner than 1 year. I will be relying on custom ROMs. The only thing i will be missing is camera quality. Photos on custom ROMs just don't match with what i can get with stock. Hopefully we get alternative.
Sent from my ONEPLUS A3003 using Tapatalk
android n for one plus 3 ? in Feb-March 2017 , they have a history of slow updates. best to assume more time to avoid horrible disappointment lol . but who will stay on stock for so long ? i just hope the op3 gets a cam mod that makes us utilize the slow mo video recordings in aosp/cm roms.. then id go ahead.

Looks like Samsung may release LolliPop to our beloved Note 4 sooner rather than later.... but how long will the carriers take before turning it around for us?

4.4.4 has only been out for 4 months, you think you'd have it already on a carrier specific phone, and samsung at that? and with 4.4.4 being a minor update?
By the time 4.4.4 released, Sammy was already well into working on 5.0 Why do the work for a minor update when you could just go straight for the big release?

I was shocked when Verizon released it, they are usually really slow. ..
And to answer Techsavvy2's question, in Verizon at least, the GS5 4.4.4 update fixed many Bluetooth issues that were present in 4.4.2. But I agree with Tech's point in that new for new's sake is a little pointless.

I hope we see it before the New Year, although I know the odds of that happening are almost nil. I also hope Samsung adopts the new aesthetic as much as possible, though their current version of Touchwiz is much better than previous versions.
Hope so. Not going to hold my breath waiting though.

Thanks and I hear you, the news sites seem to be the biggest offenders.
At least it is good news
Hopefully as stated earlier in the thread it holds true for AT&T. Maybe they will realize with such a big OS release that people will want it sooner than later.
I have a feeling AT&T is going to delay it for at least a month while it figures out what features they want to disable to add in their own bloated, pay to use version of it !
Why is it called lollipop.....suckers.....
So maybe now a nexus 6 is looking good?

Its a little different with Nexus and Pixels. By the time OEMs get Android its a fine tuned product. This is a small incremental beta, not a full blown OS changeover. Probably won't be many bugs.

Yeah, but when you get out of the beta program, some people have said you have to wait to get back to a stable build. Its not instant. Unlock your bootloader and flash the factory image. If your on a locked Verizon phone then it is what it is. Your at Google's mercy.

I have heard people having to wait at most, 24-48 hours after getting off the beta program, to return to stability. New updates are one of the most exciting things about these devices. That said, if stability is important to you, then stay where your at and let the other's be guinea pigs. Keep a close eye on the comments of other's that run the beta and see if its for you? I'm unlocked and rooted. Can do whatever I want, when I want. Haha, at the mercy of the great devs of XDA of course and Google.

Check this out..
https://plus.google.com/+varund7726/posts/BeSViUDtVpH
Summary for RR
Final N build will come out when sept security patches are out
No work has started by us for O yet
When we start the work on O , main branches will be kept private till we carry out our tests
O builds will not come out for a month or maybe more
Though it does not mean individual RR developers are not working because then you also have this
https://plus.google.com/+AkhilNarang/posts/Hup1zPxKNyW
Devs are working hard to bring up O for OP3 they are working in the background. Expect some alpha builds to drop next month for sure
Because of project treble being introduced into oreo, I'm not sure how it will effect custom roms. Pure nexus roms will be easy, Will insanely feature filled roms like rr could very well be alpha or beta till december or january.

Closed beta 8.0 was just released. Public beta expect by the end of this month. http://www.androidpolice.com/2017/0...coming-soon-public-beta-slated-end-september/
There isn't any official announcement but. Seeing the pattern of providing update and the maintenance release notes for June patch. no one can expect Oreo till August/September as. It would take July to get updated security patch on every retail channel after which they will release another release which MAY be oreo. Which would actually take another month for full implementation.

I really want to, but those camera bugs on Oreo custom roms annoys me, so I'm using stock rom again and one reason that I bought this phone months ago is because Motorola said that it was going to update to Oreo, which is frustrating to not seeing it yet.
Oreo will happen.
It's just a matter of when?
We're just lower down the priority list than newer phones (like any other manufacturer).
We should hopefully be next after Moto G5S, so watch for when that starts rowling out.
