Obb files disappearing after reboot - OnePlus 5T Questions & Answers

Hello everyone.
Usually I can fix my Android problems myself or with a quick Google search but this time I couldn't find any working solution.
I've got a OnePlus 5T with Oxygen OS 10.0.0, unlocked bootloader and Magisk.
When I install big games, no matter if I download them from Play Store or I manually copy the game's folder in Android/Obb, everyone I reboot the phone every folder inside Android/Obb disappear but in Settings -> Apps some games still show their full size.
I hope you understand what my problem is. I have no idea what or why this is happening.

I had the same issue. only solution that worked for me was
Rename obb folder to OBB (all caps)
or delete your obb folder and create new OBB folder

Well, that seems to have done the trick. Games still detects obb files and they stick after a reboot. Weird behaviour nonetheless.
Thank you so much! I didn't think the solution, or workaround, would be so simple.

The apps on my phone does not recognize the OBB folders

I am currently running Android AOKP 4.2.2 and I noticed, anytime I save a folder which has an .OBB file, the game doesn't recognize it. Another issue I was having and I thought I was going crazy but I guess it's an issue with the Phone/ROM, is that after certain time, the folder itself would disappear and the game would still be installed.
I downloaded Crazy Taxi and Monopoly Millionaire and neither of the games recognizes the OBB folder in my SD card.

Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.
Are these games that you got legitimately? Because if these are games you pirated, we can't help you.

Why do obb game files get deleted in M8?

I've put a game file on the M8. i dont have the game in my region so i used an apk and obb. The obb folder is shown empty after i try to play the game and check it. Games' files disappear, although still consuming space in the internal memory. I have to reformat the internal memory every time to get back that space. The obb folder is shown empty after i try to play the game and check it. There is nothing in it although i had put the game folder in it. But the space is still consumed. Can anybody help regarding this?
MINE IS A STOCK m8 UNROOTED.

Obvious question.
What is the game?
First with plants vs zombies..but then when it happened i tried more games..all seem to do it. They dont play and there is no obb data of the game in the obb folder after launching it.

Sorry, I'm struggling here. I understood from @ethan3686 that maybe due to location (India) he had a problem installing this.
Your post of how to install the apk and obb shows this is about how to install the cracked version. In the UK you can download the game from the playstore with no problem unless you want the full version for free.

Permission denied deleting OBB file

Hi Guys,
I'm having some Problem deleting a file in the /sdcard/Android/OBB folder. it seems to be causing me problems and not letting me update one of my apps.
Here are the things i've tried to do.
Clear the cache of my app and the play store
Tried using terminal with SU, just got "Premission denied"
Tried using SU to change the CHMOD to 777, no luck on it actually changing that at all
Tried going to TWRP to uninstall it. however in recovery, when i got to the OBB folder, it was empty for what ever reason even though it is not when i use a file browser when the phone boots up.
Let me know if you have any idea what could cause this problem?
Thanks!
Tried root browser?

Fix it by going in and instead of deleting, try renaming it. That's how I fixed it.

I cannot rename it as well
This is very frustating. The folder contents 4GB game files i don't use anymore
Edit: Apparently, i can rename the folders but not the file inside. So, maybe i can now update or re-download those apps.
But, all i want is just to remove those files, cause they use too much space. Even if i want to re-download those apps, the new apps will create a new obb folder, right? So those big obb files will be duplicated. That's not good

The actual location is /data/media/obb, i can delete those obb files from there [emoji4]

1. Couldn't delete obb.
2. Could only rename.
3. Couldn't locate required obb under /data/media/obb
Managed to LOCATE and DELETE required folder at
/mnt/runtime/default/emulated/obb
Root browser seems necessary.

May your obb file was located in your sd card boot to your twrp then advance/file manager/external_sd/media/obb then open it and click the check button then choose the chmod and just type 777 you should also do that to the existing folder inside obb the reboot your device

I just ran into this issue yesterday and was glad I found this post. I couldn't chown or chmod the directory or file even though I was root. Deleting it from data/media/obb fixed it.

Obb file problem

After installing some game apks, I moved their corresponding obb files into Android/obb folder I created,
but when I try to delete these files, I am not able to do so via solid explorer or via the stock file manager under storage settings. These obb files wont be deleted even after I uninstall the app, if this continues, my space will be eaten up with junk data. All help are welcome.
Thank you.

Question is it possible to move/paste stuff into obb folder?

i want to move files into the obb folder but can't.
is there a way to do this on pc?
i backed up game folders from my prev phone and wanted to transfer them into the new one, so that i don't have to redownload everything.

Indeed, obb folder isn't in scoped storage, no need of root of whatever, you can normally write in obb folder without doing any manipulation
Try opening it with MiXplorer
3 words... X-plore file manager
