When i came home i noticed a download going on . It was nothing i downloaded, but it was a zip file. I Just managed to read a part of the download titel in the statusbar. It was something called " OTA blockf......zip. i can' t see any file called like that in my device or SD card. Could it be something from Xiaomi? I'm on 12.03 global Stable. One more question. Latest update was something like 320mb . That seems a lot for only a security update.

Hello, i have checked the forum but i found nothing about this problem.
After the update i have a file "com.htc 2.1-update1" on my phone, it is 18.774Kb size, and now i run out of memory.
Can i delete it without remove the last update ? I think the update is in rom now, this is only a cache file ?
deleting a 18kb file will barely do anything to your memory why is it so vital to delete this?
if you've run out of memory then uninstall some apps or use aps2sd
i think that's 18mb not 18kb..
sorry it is 18774Kb = 18Mb
i have 2 file, this one and "system Android 2.1-update1" 5182Kb
I can see they only with "Uninstaller" program.
I don't want root it now, i am waiting froyo.
Does anyone know if there's any answer re. this query? I've also got both "com.htc 2.1-update1" (18MB) and "Android System 2.1-update1" (5MB) listed in Uninstaller - the latter sounds like the actual installed update, is there any chance of being able to uninstall the former? (am hoping someone has given in a shot already!)
A.
I can successfully install Roms thats I download through Rom Manager, but for some reason I cannot install Roms that I download online, put in my SD card and try to flash through Clockworkmod. The downloaded files are in .zip for and I choose to install zip from SD. When I select it, the screen shows that it is installing but takes only a second and doesnt flash successfully. I dont get any errors but for some reason the Rom just doesnt install. If anyone has had this issue or could help it would be much appreciated, thanks.
nevermind, i figured it out. for some reason the files would only work when i compressed them again. its weird but im glad i got it to work

change the setting on your mac (i know you did not say it was a mac but since this exact thing happened to me i know it must be one) to not "open safe files after downloading" in the preferences - general tab. that way you will not have to zip files again since they get unzipped on downloading.
Hi, i have been looking to upgrade htc desire 2.2, but i have not found anything here. As i am on t mobile i think its different upgrade i should be looking
so please help me to find the link to upgrade to 2.2 also is there any way i can use my sd card for my applications installation
thanks to all
What version you on at present (as in software version, e.g. 2.29.405.2)?
Thank you for your reply
my software number is 1.15.110.11
thanks
Wow, old software...
Right, first thing is download this file:
http://www.filefront.com/16813093/O...10.4-1.15.110.11-release0grz58nlwns0d5mw.zip/
Once downloaded, rename the file update.zip (not update.zip.zip) and copy it to the root of your SD card. Once done turn the phone off. Now, whilst holding volume down, turn it back on - if done correctly it will bring you to a white screen with some options. Once you can use the volume buttons to move to Recovery and press power to select. Once you're loaded to the black screen with the ! hold volume up and press power. Now, on the blue menu select 'apply sd:update.zip' and follow the instructions. This will update you to 1.21.110.4
Once done and rebooted go to Settings>About phone>System software updates>Check now and it should offer you 2.12.110.4 - allow it to update and you're now on Android 2.2
THANK YOU EddyOS,
I HAVE COMPLETED UPTO THE BLUE SCREEN BUT EVERY TIME I RUN UPDATE.ZIP IT ENDS UP INSTALLATION ABORTED. ANY IDEA PLEASE
What did you name the file you downloaded? it HAS to be update.zip (or just update as you won't see the .zip in Windows)
i did rename the file update.zip, should i clean up my memory before try this again ? because i have no internal memory left.
Possibly, you do need at least 25MB free I think. You could just boot into Android and check for system updates as that update should be available to you I just thought it'd be easier to do it using the file directly
i am going to check my internal memory , btw how can i update on second option (boot in to android)
thanks
i checked , i have 39 mb of internal memory , but still aborting
message coming up ''signature verification failed''
So if you check in Android for updates do you get anything?
The other way to update to 1.21.110.4, but will involve losing all data, is to download this and flash it through Windows:
http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_127570_signed.exe
To use it, connect the phone to the PC and select 'HTC Sync' from the menu on the phone. Make sure HTC Sync is installed and showing connected on the PC and then run the RUU file
when i restared it last time , i get the message to update using wifi , i am doing it now will let you know the results
We have done it ......now its showing
android version 2.2
software number is 2.12.110.2
is there anything else i can do ?
Like install all the apps in to my sd card.
And do i need rooting ? What are the advantages ?
Thank you
Hmmm, that was the old T-Mobile update - check for updates one last time as there is now 2.12.110.4
You can now only install apps to the SD is allowed/enabled by the developer, e.g. Angry Birds installs to the SD by default.
You don NEED to root unless you wanna install tons of apps as you'd need A2SD+ which moves ALL apps to the SD card. Read up on all the sticky threads in the forums and go from there but first of all just enjoy FroYo
THANK YOU EddyOS,
I HAVE UPDATED TO 2.12.110.4, ITS MUCH FASTER THEN PREVIOUS ONE.
ONE LAST QUESTION, IF I GO FOR ROOTING MY DEVICE , WILL I LOOSE DEFAULT HTC INTERFACE, I.E WEATHER WITH CLOCK ETC ?
THANKS
If you decide to go for a non-Sense ROM then yes. Just go read up on it all but if you don't know what rooting is then don't do it until you do...just use the phone and see how you get on
THANK YOU......
Hello guys im almost at the point to throw this phone out of the window i cant believe it so hard to get kitkat on it.
First my country does not have OTA update ready.
I do not have sd card , and will not buy one to update a phone , i have no use for it.
Anybody help me to get official kitkat on , without buying a sd card ?
Seems the normal method needs a sd card.
Regards
not that really..
you can put the update on the internal storage and make the update..
but..if you have no use for a sdcard..why do you want KK??
one of the best things in KK is to outsource apps onto it to keep the internal storage free of that..

how do i make the update?
I need to test apps etc , otherwise i need to go grab sd card tomorrow.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2781977
will try seems it will work
meh also needs a sd card
I have found a sd card in a old phone let me try this again
what Version do you have actually?
the way is most time the same..
you geht an official b***.ZIP
you unzip it and put the dload folder with its content on the root directory of your sdcard / onto your internal storage (where DCIM and this stuff is)..inside the dload folder is usually only the update.app..
then you can make a local update (when you have a stock recovery) or you use the force update method (power, vol + & vol - alltogether until you see the Android figure - this can take more than 15 seconds -don't panic if it takes a little more time) (also with stock recovery)..
one official update (the b513 repack) is a hacky one by oxalis and surdu_Petru..this is able to be flashen by twrp (no need for unzip -just renaming to update.ZIP and put in dload folder)..
thats just a short review..for more information read the threads..
going to apply the b132 now which is just one file but the b510 seems to have quite allot of files with the update.app
grabbing b512 so long
cool b132 is loaded so b512 will be on soon
I just got a new P2a42. trying to update it manually to nougat by downloading S062toS233 update.zip to sdcard. But update from stock recovery is failing. I then noticed, my phone is still on S048 version. The update in settings is not working with network connection failed. Tried searching on google for stock recovery update from S048 to S062 but couldn't find anything. Can someone point me to where to download update for S048 to S062 or else I will just have to wait 14 days for bootloader unlock.
Thank You
Edit: I found the S048 to S062 update.zip. However that too is failing. I am not sure what am I doing wrong. I formatted a sdcard to fat32. Renamed zip to update.zip. Copied to sdcard. Inserted in phone. Booted phone in recovery. Apply update.zip. But that is failing immediately at 0% only without proceeding any further
Also, I think I have marked the thread wrongly as Q&A. Any mod, kindly help to change thread type!
Solved: Incase anyone else faces this issue, my sdcards were partitioned as logical. I changed one sdcard partition to primary and the update worked immediately.
i had the same problem, i just changed the name to update( not update.zip as it was already in zip format) and it worked. or try this one-http://phonedl.ota.lenovomm.com/dls/v6/P2a42_S062_170117_ROW_TO_P2a42_S233_170404_ROW_WC5805C608.zip
