Hi, i have been looking to upgrade htc desire 2.2, but i have not found anything here. As i am on t mobile i think its different upgrade i should be looking
so please help me to find the link to upgrade to 2.2 also is there any way i can use my sd card for my applications installation
thanks to all
What version you on at present (as in software version, e.g. 2.29.405.2)?
Thank you for your reply
my software number is 1.15.110.11
thanks
Wow, old software...
Right, first thing is download this file:
http://www.filefront.com/16813093/O...10.4-1.15.110.11-release0grz58nlwns0d5mw.zip/
Once downloaded, rename the file update.zip (not update.zip.zip) and copy it to the root of your SD card. Once done turn the phone off. Now, whilst holding volume down, turn it back on - if done correctly it will bring you to a white screen with some options. Once you can use the volume buttons to move to Recovery and press power to select. Once you're loaded to the black screen with the ! hold volume up and press power. Now, on the blue menu select 'apply sd:update.zip' and follow the instructions. This will update you to 1.21.110.4
Once done and rebooted go to Settings>About phone>System software updates>Check now and it should offer you 2.12.110.4 - allow it to update and you're now on Android 2.2
THANK YOU EddyOS,
I HAVE COMPLETED UPTO THE BLUE SCREEN BUT EVERY TIME I RUN UPDATE.ZIP IT ENDS UP INSTALLATION ABORTED. ANY IDEA PLEASE
What did you name the file you downloaded? it HAS to be update.zip (or just update as you won't see the .zip in Windows)
i did rename the file update.zip, should i clean up my memory before try this again ? because i have no internal memory left.
Possibly, you do need at least 25MB free I think. You could just boot into Android and check for system updates as that update should be available to you I just thought it'd be easier to do it using the file directly
i am going to check my internal memory , btw how can i update on second option (boot in to android)
thanks
i checked , i have 39 mb of internal memory , but still aborting
message coming up ''signature verification failed''
So if you check in Android for updates do you get anything?
The other way to update to 1.21.110.4, but will involve losing all data, is to download this and flash it through Windows:
http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...00.28U_4.06.00.02_2_release_127570_signed.exe
To use it, connect the phone to the PC and select 'HTC Sync' from the menu on the phone. Make sure HTC Sync is installed and showing connected on the PC and then run the RUU file
when i restared it last time , i get the message to update using wifi , i am doing it now will let you know the results
We have done it ......now its showing
android version 2.2
software number is 2.12.110.2
is there anything else i can do ?
Like install all the apps in to my sd card.
And do i need rooting ? What are the advantages ?
Thank you
Hmmm, that was the old T-Mobile update - check for updates one last time as there is now 2.12.110.4
You can now only install apps to the SD is allowed/enabled by the developer, e.g. Angry Birds installs to the SD by default.
You don NEED to root unless you wanna install tons of apps as you'd need A2SD+ which moves ALL apps to the SD card. Read up on all the sticky threads in the forums and go from there but first of all just enjoy FroYo
THANK YOU EddyOS,
I HAVE UPDATED TO 2.12.110.4, ITS MUCH FASTER THEN PREVIOUS ONE.
ONE LAST QUESTION, IF I GO FOR ROOTING MY DEVICE , WILL I LOOSE DEFAULT HTC INTERFACE, I.E WEATHER WITH CLOCK ETC ?
THANKS
If you decide to go for a non-Sense ROM then yes. Just go read up on it all but if you don't know what rooting is then don't do it until you do...just use the phone and see how you get on
THANK YOU......

not exactly sure....when u tried each cab, did u completely uninstall and delete all traces of each build including the fsck files? alot of times if not, and u try to install a new one, itll stick pick up the old data and mix with the new and cause issues. The one to try thats the easiest is the AOSP. data and service works off tops without doing anything.
try this...whatever cab u got in there..uninstall it...then ...go into file explorer or whatever and delete any and all traces of the previous build. after that, if u have clear temp or clean ram, use that. then soft reset.
get the build cab of ur choice, but id recommend the AOSP for the quickest start. download it to root of storage card which is /storage , not in a folder in storage(example /storage/programs). it has to b in the root. then install. then soft reset. once it boots back up, go to the android icon. press it..then update all the new files for the build b4 ur first boot up. u should see the tab to let u update. after update complete, then press run android...and hopefully any little issues or residual files are gone and u can complete the startup or bootup of android. let us know if that didnt wrk for ya.
ok now boots, and works fine
i'm using AOSP 2.1 updated
EDIT MY INTERNET WORKS NOW, LOL,
I'm having the same exact error on my AT&T Tilt 2 with stock ROM. I downloaded the AOSP into the storage/programs folder of the SD card, installed it to the SD card, then ran the update. After the update, I got the "Failed to mount the SD Card. Cannot Continue" error. I uninstalled the program and got rid of everything ans started from scratch with the same error.
Any idea?
Okay.... I've tried this a few times with no luck. Here is what I have:
AT&T Tilt 2 with stock ROM. I started with a fresh Hard Reset this morning (due to problems with Good Mobile Messaging) and loaded the AOSP file to my micro SD card (\Storage Card\ProjectAndroid 2.1AOSP 042610.cab). I ran a level 3 CleanRAM, then double clicked on the AOSP file on the SD card using TotalCommander. The file asked where to load it to and I chose the SD card. It successfully installed and I did a Soft Reset using the red reset button behind the battery cover.
Once turned back on I go to Start and press Project Android. Once loaded up, I went to Menu and Update. It updated successfully in about 5-10 minutes and I then clicked Run Android. The screen goes black and runs a bunch of script until it gets to this:
Welcome to Vogue Linux
Running an fsck on SD card
dosfsck 3.0.1, 23 Nov 2008, FAT32, LFN
Logical sector size is zero
mount:mounting/dev/block/mmcglkopl on/sdcard failed: Invalid argument
Failed
Failed to mount the SD card. Cannot continue
/bin/shi can't access tty; job control turned off
It then freezes at this point and stays there. I've uninstalled and removed all sources of the files (that I could find) and started from scratch several times and it does the same thing each time.
Is something wrong? Am I missing something simple?
ROM Version: 1.59.502.3 (67150) WWE
Rom date: 09/25/09
Radio Version: 4.48.25.20
Protocol version: 61.39tc.25.30U
is there any other info you need?
i did use this formatter
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=287HD74A
extract, install, open, select your unit, click on option, select full erase ON
let ir run..
this promise to fix this error acording to a forum that i read
outside of XDA, it can also throw that same error if you are using
a SLOW storage card.
pls report what happened so we help other people with the same issue..
The error message is normal. Just ignore it unless the thing wont boot overnight

No joy..... it hung up on the same screen that I quoted above for over 5 hours. I soft reset and then uninstalled the software. I guess if I'm destined to have Android, then I'll just go out and buy an Android based phone.....
i guess you didnt tried the FORMATTER that i've posted
anyways
maybe you should wait for the release of HTC VISION
or wait much looooooonger a couple of years for an official android rom
for our poor htc rhodium..
good luck.
Hi guys,
I've just partitioned my SD CARD through ROM Manager. Partition of 512MB and 0MB of SWAP.
After that I turned on the Desire and Went to the rom manager and tried to Flash a ROM. - this went unsuccesfully because the ROM Manager could see my SD Card.
So, in the ROM MANAGER I pressed the thing that gets you into the recovery mode, and there when i was trying to flash the room, if could see the sd-card again.
I tryied to restore, but it said that it has nothing to restore(first of all i've just backed up before starting, and even before that I had tons of backups).
I gave up the restore and restarted my phone, which also went unsuccesfully.
I've got into a restart loop where the phone turnes up till the opening page, has a little time of black screen, and than again-opening screen.
PLEASE HELP ME. ANYONE???
EDIT: I have just connected the SD CARD to the computer through a card reader, and he is almost empty! It has only 2 folders: .android_secure, .footprints, Android, LOST.DIR
what should I do?!
Maybe some1 can upload here all his SDCARD content and by that i'll copy it into my, and maybe it will work again
EDIT #2: NOW I'CANT ENTER THE RECOVERY MOD AT ALL!!!
it just stuckes on the with screen showing the HTC sign.
A partition will delete the contents of a sd card you should of backed up you nandroid first.... go to recovery mode by holding vol down and pressing the power button while the device is off, and choose recovery from the menu, clear the dalvik cache and see if your device will boot
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
I pressed the"wipe dlavik chache" and nothing happend..
and now i can't enter the recovery mode at all. great.....
Another reason not to use ****ty ROM Manager!!
Go back to stock with your RUU and start again

Sorry for the ignorance, but what RUU is?, I really didnt get your post
Before rooting it's advised to check the original ROM running on your phone and get a copy of that RUU (ROM Upgrade Utility) so you can always revert back to stock if things go wrong. I assume you don't know what your phone originally came on?
Unfortunately you are write.
So.. is there something for me to do?
check this link with all the official RUUs and download one that is from your region or download the generic World wide english one (WWE)
its a utility that runs on windows and installs a fresh official ROM on your device

dude and where is the link?
*During the RUU installation it says to turn on my phone and do several things...
I CANT TURN ON MY PHONE!
Try.
Try reformatting your sd card in windows first?
If you have ubuntu, you could use gparted to format it.
Or use another sd card.
Since you can access your sd card, download clockworkmod and the necessary files needed to root your phone, including a new rom. (I don't know how its like on windows as i use a mac so...)
Start the rooting process again using unrevoked. See if it starts up your phone.
If you can, flash the new rom.
Hopefully everything will work out.
P.S. What rom were you using before this happened and what version of rom manager were you using? Perhaps this might help other people.
First of all, I was using the newest version of ROM Manager and an Israeli ROM based on the LEEDROID.
but it all relays to the past, i got my phone back on track!!!
I found an old folder on my computer which included all my SDCARD content(I rememberd that i've backed up it on the pc once), so i copied everything to the SD, and than it let me into the recovery mod, and i had an old Nandroid backup.
EVERYTHING IS FINE NOW, THANKS EVERYBODY FOR TRYING!

Edit: i guess i was too late
hi, if I apply the ota from the SD as is described here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=10223288&postcount=3
the DHD will lose all app/data/contacts ?
this is not for me since I'm already in 1.72, my friend don't care about root but they have a exchange activesync connection problem with 1.32
I don't have this problem with 1.72
thanks
Everything that is on the handset will be lost.
Contacts should be sync'd with Google, double check first.
Paid Apps can be downloaded again free of charge.
It's only really settings that will have to be individually re-set.
are you sure since it's not the 280mb full "RUU/rom" but the 40mb ota file ?
thanks anyway.
A few months ago, I downloaded an OTA (about 37.7Mb) to my SD Card for the 1.84blahblah firmware update ("Arabic Support" etc) and applied/installed it later on with no loss of anything whatsoever.
Not sure what andyharney means...
Going from 1.32 to 1.72 will erase everything on the handset. That's what I mean.
Everything that is not on the handset, contacts, access to your paid apps etc... Will not be lost.
I have made a try but the update don't start, I have this error just after the triangle with a exclamation mark ! (the step 6 on the linked post on my first msg)
E: can't find cache/recovery/command (or can't open cache/recovery/command I'm not sure sorry)
if I do Apply sdcard:update.zip the same error came
any advice ?
No tips / hints about this error message ?

Hi
I have rooted my phone with unrevoked, s-off'ed with alpha rev 1.8, partitioned 1gb of my 4 gb card to ext 3 and installed Gingerbread F1 V3 Ap2SD ENG.
On first load of the rom i can see that my SD card FAT 32 storage has been reduced but the only other memory internal memory which was at 147mb when i first booted the rom.
All apps are installing to the internal memory by default with only the option of moving to the SD FAT 32 partition. and there is no option to move to the sd ext3 part as there is no option - so I have lost 1gb off my sd card.
What have i done wrong?
on a 2nd note i appear to have a call delay when answering the phone my radio version is 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27 - do i need to update this ? will it solve the problem ? my carrier is vodafone UK.
appreciate the help
ararararar... Sorry had to do something.
This has been explained SO many times by me included. The way a2sd works is by symlinking the folder containing the apps(/data/app) to you ext-partition.
You cannot see this partition listed in the system info, as the partition is not supposed to be there. The system have no way of knowing that you are using an ext-partition, as it just installs apps to /data/app, however as it's symlinked to ext, they are actually being placed in sd-ext/app.
This means that you will only see you internal memory, but it still works. Your apps will just take up less space on internal, as the apk file is placed on the ext-partition. They will still take up some space for data and dalvik cache.
edit: bonus info. Install "quick system info" or "titanium backup" from the market to see the size of your ext-partition in those apps.
edit2: and if i did not make my self clear. The partition-size info in the system settings is not supposed to be a partition manager. It's written to be userfriendly, and it only provides the regular user with the partitions they should care about(/data and /sd-card). If you want a detailed view of all your partition(and there is more than a few) go get root explorer. It'll let you play around with all the partitions mounted.(you won't have access to recovery, bootloader and so on from here)
Ok thanks. I'm new to this and there's so much info to take in
With regards to the radio is there a simple way of flashing as I have alpha rev installed the method via recovery wont work. I see alot of people talking about doing this through a terminal but I could not find a comprehensive guide for this like the xda root guide. Thanks.

Well i take it that your cache partition is too small(this is why people using alpharev cm hboot cannot use recovery for this). In that case you have already flashed another hboot(using "fastboot flash hboot hboot.img") if you haven't done this, you cache-partition should not be too small, and the recovery method should be able to do this just fine. If you have done this, use the same command to flash the radio eg "fastboot flash radio radio.img"
Either way it is very unlikely to fix your call delay(read: it won't fix your problem, as it's got nothing to do with the radio). It's a problem caused by some incompatibility between the htc libs and GB. It's quite common on GB roms apparently. Wait for HTC to release the real GB update, and we might very well be able to solve this problem.

Install android sdk:
http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/Howto:_Install_the_Android_SDK
Copy the downloaded radio.img to e.g. partition C: on your computer (if you downloaded a zip, extract the radio.img from there). Check the md5sum!!!
Boot your into fastboot mode (start it with pressed back and power button) and connect your phone to your computer.
Now open command prompt on your computer and type
Code:
fastboot devices
It should list your device now. If it does, type
Code:
fastboot flash radio C:\radio.img
(in case your radio.img was copied to C: ).
Now, observe the computer and be patient TOUCH NOTHING!!
The process will copy the image to your phone, write the image to the radio partition and perform some magic be patient TOUCH NOTHING!!
Watch the little indicator at the top of your phone screen.
Once the process appears to finish (it may not say complete) wait a further FULL 60 SECONDS and be patient TOUCH NOTHING!!
Then, and only then, reboot your phone.

A nice guide about adb/fastboot can you find here:
http://androidforums.com/desire-all...fastboot-windows-updated-1st-june-2011-a.html
Flashing radio is a risky thing. Because if there something is wrong, your phone won't be more than a paperweight.
I have 4 apps that I either use all the time or use to help me with my career in one way or another. When I view them from within Manage Applications (in Settings menu), none of them give me the option to move them to my external 16GB card (ie the "Move to SD card" button is grayed-out).
The apps are causing my phone to respond extremely slow, and I can't even open emails using the native Email app, as I get errors stating that I don't have enough internal memory available.
To get the phone to work, I've been having to continually remove and reinstall these applications that I need, as I need them.
Is there a way I can move my apps to my SD card even though the option is grayed-out? If not, are there any other ways to keep using my much-needed apps, yet alleviate the internal memory issues they're causing?
I really wish this phone came with more internal memory. Thanks in advance for your taking the time to read this!
First off, lets start with the basics, Are you rooted, what ROM are you running, and if possible, can/will the SD card run A2SD?
Secondly, what apps are you attempting to use on the SD card? Some apps run better on the system on Froyo and some run better on the SD card in Gingerbread.
I'm not yet rooted, I'm trying to do that now using these instructions, but I'm stuck at Step 9, where it says, "adb push ota.zip /sdcard/update.zip".
Any idea what that means, or how exactly you're supposed to execute that step?
How do I go about teling you the kind of ROM I'm using?
The apps I'm using are Feedsquares, JEFIT, TuneInRadio, and Evernote.
That's a good start, though I would follow these steps if I were you. Have you updated your phone to the latest Froyo Update available for the MyTouch Slide? If not then don't, it will make things more difficult for you and cut down on options in the future. If SO, then you'll NEED to follow the Step by Step guide I linked. as far as ROM... it's the OS you choose (after rooting) to install. Either CyanogenMod Froyo, Gingerbread, Salsa Slide, etc etc. Those are ROMs. I'll look futher into the apps you mentioned and see how they respond on my phone tomorrow and update you on my personal thoughts there.
P.S. Is you didn't update to the most recent Froyo then that would explain why you can't Apps 2 SD, as Eclair does not have that option. Froyo, Gingerbread and up have that option available.
P.S.S. If you have not already read it... read the noob FAQ... Thanks a lot.
How do I know if my phone has the latest Froyo Update or not? All of this terminology is new to me. All I'm really trying to do is force some of these applications onto my SD card so I can free-up some device memory.
Did you get the opportunity to test out the apps?
I will check out and print the noob FAQ right now.
P.S. I would like to have iHeartRadio and "Twitter" app installed as well, but I just don't have the space on my phone in it's current state.
Go to menu>settings>about phone> android version. That will let you know what version of android you are using.
Once you read the noob FAQ things will get cleared up for you. If you are running Android 2.1, then you are on Eclair and are unable to install on SD.
I have 2.2.1
so you are running T Mobiles Froyo update. After reading the noob FAQ, root your phone and pick a ROM to install. I suggest using the root method I linked in a previous post. Good Luck. Afterwards you shouldn't have any problems getting those apps to SD card. works fine on my phone.
