I just got a new P2a42. trying to update it manually to nougat by downloading S062toS233 update.zip to sdcard. But update from stock recovery is failing. I then noticed, my phone is still on S048 version. The update in settings is not working with network connection failed. Tried searching on google for stock recovery update from S048 to S062 but couldn't find anything. Can someone point me to where to download update for S048 to S062 or else I will just have to wait 14 days for bootloader unlock.
Thank You
Edit: I found the S048 to S062 update.zip. However that too is failing. I am not sure what am I doing wrong. I formatted a sdcard to fat32. Renamed zip to update.zip. Copied to sdcard. Inserted in phone. Booted phone in recovery. Apply update.zip. But that is failing immediately at 0% only without proceeding any further
Also, I think I have marked the thread wrongly as Q&A. Any mod, kindly help to change thread type!
Solved: Incase anyone else faces this issue, my sdcards were partitioned as logical. I changed one sdcard partition to primary and the update worked immediately.
i had the same problem, i just changed the name to update( not update.zip as it was already in zip format) and it worked. or try this one-http://phonedl.ota.lenovomm.com/dls/v6/P2a42_S062_170117_ROW_TO_P2a42_S233_170404_ROW_WC5805C608.zip

Hi,
I rooted myt HTC Hero and I'm trying to install a custom rom.
With EVERY rom I get:
Verifying update package ...
E:Corrupt file:
system/lib/libwebcore.so (this is random!)
E: Verification failed
Installation aborted
What am I doing wrong ? I reformatted my SD card, but nu luck ...
What recovery are you using?
Try upgrading to the latest Amon recovery or make one yourself.
AND/OR
you can try re-signing the zip file yourself.
I'm not recoverything anything .. just installing a custom rom through update.zip ...
Could be your SD card, or it may be that you've been "opening" the update.zip on your PC.
Regards,
Dave
Nope... tried 4 different SD card and 4 rom's ... not openend om my pc ....
strange .... anyone had this before ?
Hiya mate,
I had the same problem trying to install Villain rom 2.0.1 - it turned out it was a dodgy download of the rom file (even though i didn't notice any errors when i downloaded it). Try to redownload it again and see if that fixes it.
Also something to mention is that the corrupt version seemed to happen only when i used a download manager to get the file.
Hope you manage to get it sorted.
Jamie.
Hey Guys,
Before I ramble on about my problems, I would like to thank all the amazing devs that work night an day to make our phones awesome. I have been reading these forums for a couple of weeks and have seen how helpful everyone in these forums are to us noobs.
I'm not new to Rooting (Rooted my G1 a while back and Jailbroke a 1st Gen iPhone way way back lol), but this is my first time Rooting my 3G Slide, which I have had since they were first launched.
I am attempting the No-PC Method described here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=896148
I have been trying since last night with no success. I have followed the process step by step, to the T, and continue to encounter the same error every time I try.
I succesfully flash the ESPRIMG.zip and then go to Recovery to apply the "update.zip" file so I can go into Clockwork Recovery, however instead of going into Clockwork Recovery it just gives me the following error:
E:failed to verify whole-file signature
I have searched the forums and none of the responses and solutions have been helpful as almost all of them are users who have already flashed a ROM on their phones as opposed to the Stock one, and a lot of them seem to be prior to this new AndRoot method.
Also, I am using this method as I do not have a USB cable for my phone or a PC for that matter, and havent really researched any Mac mathods of Flashing a Custom ROM to the phone.
Any help would be mucho appreciated!
i think you have to have the update.zip file in the root of your sd card
I reformatted the SD Card and only placed the necessary files in the root of the card. There is nothing else in the card at the moment except for the update.zip file, ROM, gapps, and radio updates. I have no idea why i keep ketting this error, from all the research I've done, this should be working, but clearly there is something I'm doing wrong :-/

yeah, that's not good if that's all you have there. i was working with someone over at the tmobile forums who was getting the same error (http://forums.t-mobile.com/t5/myTouch-3G-Slide/Easy-root-unroot-Froyo-for-all/td-p/649239/page/6) and it turned out they had the downloaded files in a different folder, and moving them to the root made it work... you may want to try using the files you need from this link instead: http://richard.gluga.com/2010/08/complete-guide-to-rooting-and-hacking.html
I'm a newbie to the whole programming side of computers, familar with using one though. I am going through the steps of the no pc rooting, and I read through step 6 and I thought it was confusing it says...
Install And Run Root Explorer then Copy and paste flash_img and mtd0.img to /data/local on android device multi-select copy then rm r/w in program in upper left on data local folder. I am confused with the rm r/w section there, I haven't gone through the steps, just want to have a general idea before I get in there and screw something up.
Yeah, that ones a lil tricky apparently. Root explorer can be found in the market for ~$4, but if you click the link for the tmobile forum, we found that another app (free) works just as good.
I managed to make it work last night. I'm pretty sure I kept downloading the incorrect ESPRIMG.zip file from several sites. I think I was getting the original stock ROM as opposed to the Engineering Build.
Anyways, mine's working now.
As for the step 6 on the instructions. It basically means that after you paste the files you need to go back to the android system (the folder where you can see everything thats on the android) and at the very top of the window you will see a button that says "R/W" next to something like "Mount as R/O". You just need to hit that button so you can write to the folders, then go back to /data/local and long press "Image_flasher" click on permissions and make sure everything is checked, then repeat on "mtd0.img" file.
I know its a long explanation for such a small step but I try to be as detailed as i can. Hope it helped.
Get
update.zip
Put iton ur SD card
and a ROM.zip that you like n the SD card as well..
see if that works

I just went through the same thing - I had restored my phone back to stock and then went to re-root it. I have 2 copies of ESPRIMG, file sizes as follows:
The one that was giving me problems: 145,045,641 bytes
The one that ended up working: 143,701,302 bytes
Once I used the slightly smaller ESPRIMG the process worked perfectly. When using the other one I was getting the same error as the OP.
Okay, I've rooted my n5110 8.0 and manually flashed 4.2.2 XXCMH3. I have reset the flash counter with triangle away. It shows software update is available. Is it possible to use OTA Root keeper to update the OTA update? IM me or answer here please no guesses. Thanks in advance.

Yes it should work fine, there have been issues with 4.3 but in a video I watched about the app the update from 4.2.1 to 4.2.2 went smoothly for him. Granted nothing is guaranteed. If you are using superSU you can buy the pro version and it has an OTA survival mode. Alternatively you could also flash the update via odin or recovery but since you're asking about OTA Root Keeper I'm sure that isn't something you are interested in. Make sure you follow the steps and make any other backups you can because you never know.

That's the video I watched also I looked at other posts regarding known issues and it doesn't look like there are problems specifically with certain UI types (Touchwiz Sense etc). GOOD LUCK let me know how it goes
Thanks.

Thanks for the response and link, I really appreciate it. I actually do have the pro version of superSU. I was unaware that superSU has that option.

Although I do appreciate the time. I was unable to make it work. I was informed by Mr hyde, that this is one of the models that always have +1 if you have a custom recovery or any other changes to the device. Not sure though, because when I when I was on xxchm3 I tried the update and instead of saying device has been altered it said successfully registered. So I'm not sure what that means. Currently I'm having another issue I'm trying to figure out. I have a large amount of misc. Files taking up a few gbs of space. I have factory reset and wiped partition each time, but when I install superSU pro version it says needs to update binary. So I do, it restarts into cwm 6.x and says either erase disable stock recovery, I haven't accepted so I select go back on the bottom of the list, it restarts and everything appears to be working, but now I'm wondering if I am supposed to delete/disable stock recovery or if there's no way to get stock recovery back if I do erase/ disable. And also if that is where my misc. Memory is allocated or it is something else entirely, as when I backup I backup to external sd card. Thanks for the consideration and I will hit the button as well. It is really cool of you to follow up.

By +1 do you mean the flash counter? If you boot into download mode it'll show you a flash counter. For the binary update select the Normal install not the TWRP/CWM option. You shouldn't have to flash the binaries they SuperSU should be able to update within the app. As for the misc files it could be the partitions are messed up, if you use a root file explorer goto /data/media check those folders, your 0 folder should be your normal files but see if another 0 shows up or it might have a clockworkmod folder that has backups in it (I've seen the backups that are supposed to end up on the extSd end up there so its worth checking). Let me know if you want/need any more help I have worked my way through a lot of crap between my tablet and phone and I wish there was more help out there than there is so please let me know if I can help.
0 file in 0 file like 4 times each dated days I flashed different builds

Ok, so I started over with OUEMFI1 factory rest and wiped partition. I still have misc. files. So, I went to data/media I found the 0 file, inside that file is another 0 file, inside of that file another 0 file, and on and on all with different dates. Should I remove the 0 files within the 0 files, are they necessary, or they left over each time I flash? I did mean flash counter, but I haven't checked it via download mode, I will do that.

Okay so what happened with all those 0 files is basically with the ability to change users that number changes if you add more users. For whatever reason when you flash a ROM it creates a new 0 file and pushes your old 0 file further in. If you go through those files you may see folders you used to have on other ROMs containing old stuff you had. So if you have stuff to keep then copy it to the /0 folder then delete the extras. I have been trying to modify a script from the GSIII that basically wipes everything except your external card but it didn't work last time. My advice would be to back your files up to your external, go into recovery and instead of a factory reset go into mounts and format /data (again be sure to back your stuff up because this will take it all out). That should wipe out everything (0 files and such) I would go as far as formatting system too. MAKE SURE you have a ROM on your external card because formatting /system will wipe out your existing ROM, but you will get a fresh start and at that point you know that nothing is hanging around from before.
Hey there,
I have a problem with my fairphone (FP1). I recently used it with the ROM provided by chrmhoffmann (thanks for that!) but as I will use the dual SIM function more intensively in the future I decided to go back to official ROM.
I downloaded and flashed it from my SD card. It started and seemed to work until I reinstalled some of my apps (including Xposed). The phone got stuck in a bootloop afterwards, but I could still do a factory reset and it would work again. Unfortunately I had to do this a couple of times.. Don't remember what happened exactly, but I also flashed it again from my card.
At one point this didn't work any longer. My SD card is not recognized any longer, I cannot install anything. I tried a different card and fat32 but no success.
I therefore tried to sideload with adb but the installation always fails immediately. Somewhere I've read that someone had a similar issue caused by missing executing permissions - but I don|t know how to check that without booting.
Next thing I tried was to flash with the flash tool. I have version 5.1320. If I open the scatter files from the offiial ROM I downloaded from fairphone.com I get an error because it's missing some files. ("Item[1] PRELOADER: File not found" etc.)
It would be great if anybody could help me with this scatter file thing and explain me how to check this permissions thing!
i wanted to install new stock rom from here but fastboot wont install it so i went to twrp and tried to flash it from there but during flashing twrp just rebooted itself and saying installation wasnt sucessful, i figured this is due to S-On but prior to flashing it i did possibly the stupidest thing, i went to ADVANCED WIPE and wiped every option on the list(dalvik, system, data, internal storage, cache) except for micro sdcard ofcourse. i then went to FIX PERMISSIONS and stupidly select the ALSO FIX SELINUX CONTEXTS. when those done i then went and install another image which is on the sdcard that i downloaded from here E9pw_Android5.0_Sense70_E1.zip . the installation went well and rebooted itself and got to the homescreen and whatnot. but the troubles came when i tried to install apps from playstore and it gave me all kind of errors known to man, even going into file manager to access the internal storage gave me problem it says something along ACCESS IS DENIED or CANT ACESSS EMULATED OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. when i opened chrome to download something the browser just crashed because apparently it wont able to access the emulated storage. yeah i fcked up badly here. dont know whatelse to do.
see below of the files that i currently have in my external microsd card:
E9pw_Android5.0_Sense70_E1.zip -WORKS
open gapps arm64 android 5.0 stock
RUU 0PJXIMG_A55ML_DTUL_L50_SENSE70_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.35.7 07.2 - DONT WORK
0PJXIMG_A55ML_DTUL_L50_SENSE70_hTC_Asia_WWE_1.35.7 07.2 - DONT WORK
Thanks!
Got it fixed! by going to TWRP-->WIPE-->FORMAT DATA and reinstall the ROM. if anybody experiencing the same problem please do the same.
