My menu button "presses" itself. Regardless of what app I'm in or if I'm on the home screen or even if the phone isn't being touched, the menu constantly pops up. I was able to take it I and get a replacement but the replacement is doing the same. I recently rooted to Calkulin's ICS 1.0 and am still experiencing the same problem. Any suggestions?
Same problem, its a hardware bug in some Samsung phones. Strangly , it happens much or often in low signal areas. Does it happen to u in low signal areas?
I caught mine doing the same thing on video a few months back. Sprint exchanged mine but I did more snooping around after and found a post where someone suggested that the USB port may be the culprit and offered an easy fix. Clear any dust and use a toothpick or something to lift the USB notch thingy VERY slightly. Use at your own risk.

Any way you can link to said post?
Epic-ly tapped from my Galaxy SII
Actually, it does happen more in low signal was which is nearly everywhere I go these days. Anyway to help the low signal issue by flashing a kernel? This is my second phone with this problem.
sprint replaced mine, before that i had taken it in and a lil cleaning did the trick for a while... some say its the low signal areas but idk what it actually is
Just this evening I noticed when I put my phone under a lamp with a bulb, the phone thinks the lamp is my face and doesn't turn off the screen. Are you guys experiencing the same thing?

I experienced the same thing though it happened randomly. I tried to put my friends sgn2 side by side with mine and his phone doesnt have this problem.
Is this hardware problem? How to fix it?

I don't know. Seems to happen on my note 2 randomly.
Today it happened to me in dim litted situation. So it seems not limited only on bright situation.
Yes, I had this problem some days back! Damn, I was going to wipe my device for this, then thought about un'smart' stay and just rebooted the device, got fixed!
Btw- The smart alert feature is also not responding for me sometimes! When I pick the device up from the table beside my bed it vibrates sometimes, but most times it don't. Don't know what's going on!
Sent from my GT-N7100
These smart features use the front camera as the sensor to determine the condition. Should there be any defect on the hardware, itu must be the front camera. But I find my front camera to work well on taking photos. So I wonder what caused this? software? I don't think so since I was using the same version firmware with my friend and only mine got that problem.
I have no idea what is the cause of the problem.
If anyone had these problem, please describe it here so we can get an idea what might caused these.
The software does what it can. It confuses our eyes with other things. it has happened to me. I think it's more meant for you to look at your phone and not turn off rather than being able to 100% distinguish your face in all situations and know to turn off the screen. Most of the time it works though. I'm happy! But usually to not waste battery I turn off the screen when I put it down.
Hi everyone,
I am using htc one x for over two months now, and recently i have noticed that my lcd is not working correctly.
I am using arhd 31.1 now, and before that i have been using arhd 31.0, and so on and so on...
This error happened when i installed arhd 31.0, but i tought that it was the rom problem so updated my phone to arhd 31.1. And problem still persists.
The problem is following, part of my lcd display does not recognize gestures, or touches or any other input, it is like that part of lcd or digitizer is dead, i cant do nothing in that area.
Picture explaining problem more precisely and effectivly is in attachment, those lines you see should be continous.
So what do you guys think this is? I am really pissed and you cannnot imagine how much this is annoying :/
Is this hardware problem or something else? Just so you know my phone never dropped, and it was never punched or anything.
Any help or somekind of advice would be great.
And I dont have a warranty.
Regards.

I had the same issue with mine. It was deemed a hardware problem and the retailer gave me a credit to purchase a new phone. Mine was still under warranty.

Had a similar problem but with the lower part of the digitizer, had to replace the whole screen+digitizer assembly(pity you cant replace only the digitizer).
I have one question tho - was your phone in moist environment -e.g pocket while running etc?
I cannot say it was in moist environment, but i use endomondo a lot while running, but then phone is in armband never in pocket.

I solvet the problem by pressing up right edge of of my phone. When i press it it looks like its coming back to place.Try pressing phone with two fingers on edges of the phone and see if it makes the difference. And if it not work use lighter igniter, just google unresponsive part of touch screen fix with quartz lighter
I hope i helped and if you have any questions ask me.
And sorry for my BAD english!
I have searched the entire forum for the similar problem i am facing but couldn't find any and had to write to you in private.
I have bought my device 3-4 months ago from Bangladesh and cant claim any warranty or replacement. My device screen is flickering more often day by day at the bottom right corner. Its like a screen shot of the top or any other portion of the tab that is flickering at the bottom right corner. I tried the brightness issue, didn't work. Then I factory reset my device thought might be a bug but still no luck. Now i am worried whether this is a hardware problem or not. But i never dropped the device. So shouldn't be one.
I recorded the problem with my mobile to be more precise. Video attached herewith in zip file.
I would be really grateful if anyone can help me out with a solution.
Thanks.

It seems like your CPU/GPU is burning out... I had the same problem when over clocking my old Galaxy Ace..
The problem may not be the same, but its all I can think of.
EDIT: it could possibly be because the ribbon cable that connects the Screen to the MoBo is loose?

Ribbon cable...i thought of that too...hope that is the prob..it shouldn't be a great problem then. What if CPU/GPU is burning out...what will be the solution then? Thanks for your reply though.:good:

If the ribbon cable is loose, power off you device and pull the back cover off and have a look.
If the CPU/GPU is burning out, the only thing I would suggest would be a moderate under clock of both units and pray that your device will last, alternatively, throw your device at a wall to preemptively break it before they do die and your device becomes a really crappy decorative ornament.
Seeing as you cannot get a replacement, your only option is to try and keep it from happening by any means.. It is only a matter of time.
OR,
I'm wrong.

Last night i showed my device to a professional and as this device is not much available in Bangladesh, they are not expert enough. Though he suspected it might be the cable issue but he cant be sure. He might get it right if he gets another same device to test. So m left with very few options :crying:. I got to wait for the parts to be available or i got to contact the Asus product importers but fingers crossed. Disappointing...its just a couple of months and lot of money for me.
Anyway...thanks for all the help and support. Appreciate it.

am experiencing the same issue, plz notify me if any updates, thx
I face the same issue on my nexus 7(2013). Is there any solution to this?
Sent from my Xperia Sola using Tapatalk
I have this issue as well. Got a 16GB 2013 model free that had a shattered digitizer. Replaced the screen and for about 24 hours it seemed fine (only a little use). As I began to check it out and use it I started getting this odd flicking glitch on the bottom right of the screen, right edge to about 3/4 or 4/5 to the left. over time the amount of time the glitching occurs has gotten longer, and after re-seating all of the cables (they're in good and straight) it's pretty much constant now.
same here. i haven't even overclocked my tablet i might have to open my device up some time...
My note 10.1 2014 seems to go to sleep randomly. I will be in the middle of doing something... typing, reading, etc... and suddenly it will just go black. It then Wales normally from the lockscreen. Has anyone encountered this before? Clean room with either bindroid or stock kernel does it. I am not sure whether the stock room did it. I think not but I can't say with total certainty.
You should try to find out if it is a software or hardware issue. It could be a power button with a loose contact or a damaged board. I for example had my 7.7 gtab turn of randomly, I opened it up and switched it on and disconnected the power button, it still rebooted randomly. Then i switched it on and disconnected the board with the powerbutton and camera while it was on and it stayed on. I knew it was hardware related because it got wet, replacing the damaged board fixed the issue. What I want to say is: By backtracing to the actual cause of the issue you will be able to narrow it down and we might be able to help.

Thanks. I have not been able to get the issue to repeat itself consistently at all yet so I have not narrowed it down. I thought there might be a known issue of some kind. Failing that I will have to keep fiddling with it until I get a sense of what if anything actually trips it.
Thanks for the reply.
Hmm, I am exploring the possibility that my case has some magnets in it that I didn't know about, and when folded over it's tripping the automatic sleep. This looks like a promising line of investigation... I know I previously saw an image showing where the magnet sensors are on this device. Can anyone point me to it? I can't feel any magnets in the case but if I know where to look I may get luckier.
