Basically I bricked my XZ2 Compact. I have tried using Flashtool to no avail, so I moved into trying to use newflasher. Setting my phone to flash mode, newflasher utterly fails to recognize my phone and as such I'm unable to install stock firmware back. Any solution to this?

It's not htat simple for me as I'm not using Windows, but Linux. Where folders end up is strange. I'll try dual booting windows once I get a better usb drive that allows me to install windows without an error.

Hi! Maybe try another USB port for newflasher. Or upgarde flashtool's usb driver. Or, try Sony's EMMA program to bring back stock firmware to your phone. ( emma allways worked for me )

I don't use Windows, so EMMA isn't an option really (it did not like wine). Unless I install windows on my hdd or smth.

Also how do I update the flashtool driver? It says a driver is installed in flashtool, but idk anything else about how those drivers work. That could very well be an issue.

Attempted to install a custom ROM, but it decided that it wants to stay in the sony logo forever when booting. It also replaced twrp with its own recovery and installing twrp again doesn't seem to work, so I can't really do anything with it.

Yes, fastboot is usable. However, when I do the usual vbmota whatever disable thing and twrp boot, it simply doesn't boot into TWRP at all. I can go into the Pixel Experience recovery by the usual recovery keys, but I don't think I can do much of anything with that.

Hi! After installed flashtool, then it's directory contains a flashtool_driver sub directory ( or something similar ) and there will be a "driver pack" . Just use the latest one. ( If you could delete the previously usb drivers, but real... Delete they. For put in order all of the usb drivers, I'm using " usbdview ". that program is very simple, but usefull " https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/usb_devices_view.html " )

Hey everyone
I just recently built myself a new computer so had to re-install everything again. I've installed the drivers for my Xperia play in both flashmode and fastboot mode and installed the drivers from the flashtool folders itself but for some reason it keeps on saying the drivers aren't installed
I'm on win8 btw if that might be whats causing the trouble. figured i'd ask you smart lot see if you knew what was wrong

Hi there,
First I have installed CWM with the method I had to use the codes "adb reboot bootloader"... and so on and It worked perfectly.
I wanted to install the Envi ROM and on the tutorial there was said I first should install the Base ROM and then after restarting I should install the Envi ROM. After installing the Base ROM my CWM was gone. Now I can't install it anymore. I tried the following install methods:
-The one I've mentioned already <- Doesnt work because my PC says it does not know the command abd
-The install.bat method <- Does not work because my phone does not get recognized, despite I have all the drivers installed.
-The RecoverX method <- Does not work because my phone does not get recognized, despite I have all the drivers installed.
-The RecoverX app <- The says that installing CWM worked normally, but still I have no CWM
-The install.bat method directly on my phone <- SManager does not run the .bat even I ran it with the proper rights and adjustments

Did You try flashing a kernel with pre installed recovery? You can flash it using fastboot directly or flashtool.
Also, the command is adb, not "abd". Plus if windows doesn't recognize adb command, then the adb.exe is not in the folder from where You are running the command prompt from.

You can install the DoomKernel, it has pre installed recovery. You can flash it via flashtool fastboot. But do note, You have to be on stock ROM.
adb.exe is usually in the flashing files.

I started Ubuntu (Live CD) installed adb und fastboot and tried it there... same result?
Is something wrong is my phone?
I don't think the drivers have been installed properly. Install fastboot and flash mode drivers from flashtool, it has drivers in it's folder. Else if even that doesn't work, install "Sony Update Service", and it will install required drivers.
Edit: I'm giving You instructions for Windows, are You using Ubuntu or was that just a trial?

I tried Ubuntu because somebody said me that Ubuntu will detect all the drivers automaticly and there would be no detection problem...

Why did it not work on my phone with smanager?

I suppose your phone is Xperia S.
If you have unlocked the boot loader , then Sony Official Softwares wont work. If your boot loader is still locked and this error is occurring then its mistake from your side.
I guess by Base ROM you meant official ROM. So if you were on official ROM, did you check for Root Privileges, Busy Box is installed etc ??
Im using Xperia Ion so the steps might be different but results all are same.
Try different methods, it will work.

By Base Rom I mean the following; I wanted to use the Envi Rom and for this Rom a Base Rom should be installed first.
I have unlocked Bootloader. Busybox is installed and Root Priviliges are given. Before installing the Base ROM I used the APP "Smanager" and I ran the install.sh with the app and then the CWM was there. But now that doesnt work anymore and DeliverX does also not work.
And all methods which require connection to PC won't work because those methods say my device is not detected or connected. I installed CWM on my phone and on other phones several times and never I had thode problems...

Do one thing, check Your Device Manager. Disconnect Your phone, Open Device Manager, then connect Your phone again. See if the Device Manager gets refreshed. If it does, Your device is being connected to the PC. Then check for Xperia S or anything related to Sony under "Other Devices" or other similar areas. Then right click on it to install drivers.

My phone is getting showed under "Tragbare Geräte" which means portable devices. When I right click on it says:

-Looking for changed hardware

If I click on Update drivers the message shows, that the best driver is already installed.

So is there a way to install an other ROM without CWM (and when I have this ROM I would try if installing CWM directly with an app works again)?

I will Try Goo and TWRPG Manager. Rom Manager does not work with Xperia S I already tried it.
EDIT:
1. Goo Manager does not work. I installed the Open Recovery.img and then I tried to install the ROM (eXistenZ V2 Black) but it only restarts my phone <- Does not work
2. TWRPG Manager does not even the TWRPG Recovery.
3. Previously I used this App to install CWM and it worked. Now I used the App and the App said installed CWM worked but There is no CWM on my phone (or it can't get started neither manually by pressing up nor automatically with an App which reboots me into CWM). <-Does no work.
4. On other time I used this App to run the cwm-install.ch on my phone. It worked and CWM was on my phone. Now the script does not run and therefore CWM also cannot be installed with this method. <- Does not work.
5. After all that, today I tried to install an official Rom with Sony PC Companion (and then starting from 0 with an other ROM, to try all the other stuff again) but It says I cannot install the official ROM Update. because, I do not have the official ROM installed, <- Does not work
I dont know what to do anymore.

I felt on a topic who explained how to improve my camera quality with a document from xda : http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=2793884&stc=1&d=1402564989

I'm on Lollipop and rooted.
Is there a way to unbrick my phone or accessing my computer to modify my system/etc ? Because I made a backup from the file that I modified.

Why I don' t know
I tried to root my device, and I eventually I managed, but i missed the step to recover my android phone backup from google drive during the startup setup, so I found some tutorial and it seems to tell me erase the phone back to factory so that I can see the startup setup again.
Now the device only boots into TWRP, and I have downloaded two different stock image , V10.0.1.0 and V10.0.2.0, trying to install in recovery mode, so I follow instruction, wipe system before install.
but both of them giving me error, not opening the zip file.
Now I can not use my phone, how can I install a OS please?

Hello,
I think a solution is to use MiFlash and to restore your phone, you will loose all of your data, your recovery and magisk.
Download link : https://xiaomiflashtool.com/
- Boot your phone in Fastboot and connect it to your computer,
- Extract the stock rom to a folder normally you will obtain some files with a folder called images.
- In MiFlash select this folder.
- Click on refresh, if your phone is connected to your computer and in fastboot mode it will appear.
Now select clean all and click on flash button.
Your phone will reboot normally.
If it doesn't work tell me !

fastboot device does return a id
69d2d83f0505 fastboot
so does it mean I should be able to use MiFlash?
By the way, I really appreciate your help so far, you are so great.

it works!!
But something quite strange, the machine is a bit slow, and i have typed the correct (for sure) password for my wifi a few times, and only the 7th or 8th try it connects.
and I dont seem to be able to install apps from google play, they all stuck in download pending.
Can I actually 'factory reset' the phone to the status when it was out of the box?

I used erase all data (factory reset), and this was how I ended up booting only into TWRP.
Hello,
I tried to install a GSI rom on my phone, but I encountered a lot of problems, I couldn't erase the system because it said "system" partition was not found. So I tried many things like editing the partitions. But now, my phone is stuck in bootloop, and I can't enter recovery mode or fastboot mode.
Please help :/

Hi!
I struggled with this for a while as well but I found what works for me.
first, make sure you have the proper drivers installed ( just google MTK drivers and you'll find plenty of links for auto-installers ).
you gotta bypass the auth and flash with sp flash tool.
for the bypass:
I use MTK META Utility v75 ( again, google and you'll find it ).
click "disable Auth", then plug in your phone while holding volume up button. If it doesn't disable the BRom protection, you gotta use libusb to install the device filter.
Once the auth is disabled, use sp flash tool to flash the stock firmware.
first, in options, click connections, select the right comport.
in format, click the "format all except bootloader". VERY IMPORTANT YOU CLICK THIS.
next in download select the download agent and scatter file ( found inside the fastboot stock rom folder ).
Check everything EXCEPT PRELOADER and click download

if you do the whole bypass thingy it's gonna skip certain boot-checks which causes the loop, putting it in a different mode. from there, sp flash tool can access the device.
you can also just hold down the volume up button and then plug in the usb, 9/10 the bypass utillity will catch the BRom

So the BROM protection is now deactivated, but I can't find any COM port in the connection panel. And what is the fastboot stock rom folder ? I need to download the stock rom of Xiaomi 11T?

alright I'm guessing you'll first need to add the device filter for the port.
download libusb, run it and click add filter. while you have the phone in bypass mode, you should see a mediatek device in the list. add that one.
and yeah. but you can just download it from mi.com!

Soo... libusb wasn't working, but I figured out that I have like one minute to flash, during this time, it recognizes the com port etc...
First, it says "lib da not match" in download-agent, then in scatter-loading file it says "the scatter file contains an unsupported version"...

Hey,
My friend is trying to follow your reply in order to get her phone out of bootloop.
Not sure if you are aware but if you google for "MTK META Utility v75" as you instruct people to do... you get a wall of spam uploads which are zip files with passwords on... which gives the impression that basically every spammer wanting to get a virus onto your computer, or youtuber wanting to force you to watch their videos, is uploading crap marked as "MTK META Utility".
Perhaps you could actually provide links to trustworthy software or make a topic with a proper guide for people to follow, instead of just a reply to someone's question?
