So my fingerrint reader was working fine, until I took out the back panel for a battery replacement, and now the fingerprint option is gone? it doesnt even wakes up the screen when touched.
The sensor itself looks fine, i dont think its a hardware issue, can it be an encryption problem? it does says that the find device storage is corrupted (Started after going back to miui from a custom rom)
Any thoughts?
sounds like it's physically unplugged or something
If its not disconnected maybe it lost its partition when changing Rom

i dropped my phone and since then the screen refuses to turn on. it seems like everything is working fine except the screen. calls are coming through and im able to answer the call as long as i swipe at the right spot. is this something that can be fixed instead of swapping out the phone? if this cant be fixed and i have to get a new unit, can the sprint technicians be able to somehow transfer everything over to the new phone? btw, my phone is rooted with cwm installed and nandroid backed up to internal storage since i have no sd card installed.
If you can connect via USB you can grab the data from internal storage possibly, but it sounds like, at best, your display has a hardware issue ( strange that the touch works but the display doesn't)
But I see a trip to the phone store in your future.
If you can, I'd recommend booting to the boot loader (pwr-voldown) and using Odin to flash a stock from first so you can at least have the chance of getting a warranty replacement. ("Not sure what happennes, the screen just doesn't work anymore...")
Good luck.

Sounds like something with the connection between the LCD and the motherboard. You could get lucky and only have to reconnect the LCD's ribbon connection, however, if the LCD is cracked in any way, it would have to be a replacement, that is, if they allow replacements on cracked LCDs. Every ASC location is different. The only way to transfer anything would be to connect it to a PC, like he said in the above post, and hope it connects as USB storage by default. Copy everything to the desktop and then drag-and-drop onto the new phone's storage. But dude, get an SD card. It really makes EVERYTHING so much easier when transferring to a new phone.
The LED back light system and the touchscreen are independent of each other. Sounds to me like the connection to the back lights and the power got disconnected.

that is exactly what it seems like. can i take it into a sprint store and have it repaired or do i need to send it off?
As long as there is no physical damage then I would say its repairable. If you have ever seen a smartphone dissembled you should go check it out on you tube. Alot of the connectors are very small and easily popped out.
Yesterday i flashed lates CM10.1.2 Stable. After that somehow display didn't work properly. Waking up the phone from standby took about 5 seconds.
I was little bit afraid to brick my phone so i flashed Stock Firmware EU-Open with KDZ.
Now i have really bad Display Problems.
Starting the phone works nice, Display works nice, UNTILL !!! the phone going to standby.
Waking up from standby works but Display is completly Black. The three soft buttons have light but very very dim.
Like i said Display is completely Black and it's working but you need some brigt flashlight to see something.
Adjusting the Brightness with slider doesnt work.
If i restart the phone the Display is bright again but Brightness slider doesn't change anything in brightness.
I think this could be some Android system software failure. Because the Display works just nice if i restart the phone, it's not hardware failure.
Now is there any other flashing method to completely flash the Original ROM like it came from factory.

Worked for me!
Thanks but I have flashed my phone with this method already three times and it didn't solved the problem
Gesendet von meinem Nexus 4 mit Tapatalk HD
So, quite simple to explain, but can't figure out what the problem may be. This started happening randomly, I haven't modified the device, and didn't actually change anything in the system. It is running marshmallow 6.0.1.
The problem: the sensor works, but for some reason, randomly, it gives me the "too many attempts" error, even when I haven't even tried to unlock it. With that I mean, I turn my screen off, start doing something else, after maybe 5 minutes or more, I pick up the device, and when I turn the screen on, I see the too many attempts error. Even if I didn't even touch it. Tried removing all the fingerprints and setting them back but nothing changed.
When sensor get in touch with skin, will try to detect fingerprint. Should not happen in the pocket through cloth but if is thin...
If the phone is, for example, on the desk and after picking up reports again "to many attempts" then sensor may be malfunctioning.

Suddenly, my fingerprint sensor stopped working. I can still use the home button by pressing it, but touching/swiping does not do anything.
Flashed this patch https://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-zuk-z2/themes/patch-fingerprint-fix-pie-t3833320 but it did not the trick. Dirty flashed AEX 6.6 (same as before), now the sensor "works." However, after some time I frequently end up with a message on the lockscreen which loosely translates to "no fingerprint sensor hardware found". In this case, I need to unlock the phone via PIN, sometimes the sensor is then back to normal
Any ideas what could cause the problem?

Obviously you move all of your stuff to a computer or usb SSD or HDD and factory reset or flash stock firmware with XiaoMiFlash tool.

Yesterday my phone kept restarting, and my Sim card wasn't functioning when it did turn on. It wouldn't even power on after a while, had to wait for about 20 minutes and try again. One weird thing I noticed is I couldnt search settings (setting suggestions wouldn't work) I used an air compressor on the Sim card slot with the cover removed and it seemed to help. But I also did some software changes to see if it would help. like turned off memory extension and cleared dalvik cache and cache with recovery. I'm not sure what exactly made my phone function like normal again.
So after about a day the issue starts again, first my Sim card shows up beside my clock with an X through it,the data icon gets grayed out, I will not be able to access the mobile networks option In settings without my phone freezing and a process has stopped responding message ,and my settings suggestions stop working too. I'm just really confused lol, because it seems like software, but the only thing that actually made my phone work like normal again, was removing the Sim card slot and blowing Compressed air into the phone. Simply removing and reinserting the sim card did nothing, but the air helped.
I can't tell if I'm having a software issue, or hardware issue, or I suppose it could also be the sim card itself maybe, but yeah if anyone can shed any light it would be amazing.

I think something is overheating in the phone. I haven't had any issues since it's been a little cooler weather wise, where I live.
Second guess is the phones been "sweating" moving it from hot outside to cool inside ac, maybe created internal moisture condisation. I'm leaning towards mosture because taking Compressed air to the open sim card slot, seemed to be the only thing that worked.
I am wondering if this is something that can be easily repaired (opening phone and resoldering maybe) or at least that's my hope, I really don't have another phone to use if I send this one away to be fixed.
Edit: So it's been a few weeks now and I haven't had any issues.
I downgraded my kernel to previous version (BaalamKernel-2.1.1_alioth vs newest)
And I've been using my phone without its case in hopes it can breathe better or dry out any moisture that built up over time.
Still not sure if it's hardware or software but knock on wood, no issues so far.
