Hi Guys,
Quick question my SM-J327W (2017) operating on TELUS (CANADA) took a swim yesterday. Popped the battery and dropped the phone in a bag of Rice... not showing any signs of resurrection as of yet.
In the mean time I swapped my SD and SIM CARD to my mom's old SM-J327W (2017) (BELL CANADA). It operates fine with my Telus sim card I factory data resetted it and everything is "fine".
There's "One option" I don't have anymore and its WIFI CALLING. Telus supported it on the J327W but it seems BELL did not until the 2018 version. On my telus J3 I needed this option on my worksite where we have WIFI but no Signal.
I looked for the TELUS (TLS) stock firmware online and flashed it via ODIN 3.14. Everything went fine but when the phone booted, it still does not have the option and the "MY BELL" and stock Bell apps are still there. Is there some way to make this phone "TELUS", did I make a mistake in my flash, it almost looks like all it did was Factory Data Reset it.
The firmware I found doesn't specify the carrier/operator on the file names, there's no BMC or TLS so I don't know how the phone managed to get the BELL APPS back if the firmware I flashed didn't have them,
Thanks ahead for your help.
Anyone have a tip or idea?
Thanks

Can I flash a rogers e971 modem on my unlocked e973? Not sure if the hardware is different (don't want a brick). I just thought signal may be better if I did this
Yup.
Hi Crixley, Everyone,
I have an E973 which was originally a Bell phone. I installed the stock 4.4.2 months ago (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2771440) and it worked great. However, today I wanted to give the phone to my brother, so put in his Rogers SIM in the phone, it just says "Searching for Network" and never connections - it detects the network in the "Search Network" options, but says "No Service" if I select Rogers (or any of the other networks). If I put my Bell SIM in, it works immediately and if I put my Rogers SIM in a Xperia X1 or my Nexus 5 it also works right away.
Does anyone have any ideas? I factory reset and wiped the phone to try to resolve it but its made no difference. I also tried installing the E971 modem based on this thread, but also no change to the errors (though my Bell SIM still works fine after the flash).
What it says above suggests it should work - I do not need LTE, just basic phone call/texting service.
Thanks a lot,
Peter
Hi, i'm having trouble going back to stock. I installed stock fido software via odin but, Rogers bloatware is on when I power up. Am I doing anything wrong? Wiped/factory reset, cleared cache and re-installed but same thing.
Thanks
Is this the ROM you are installing?
http://www.sammobile.com/firmwares/1/?model=SGH-I747M&pcode=FMC#firmware
The exact one.
Well, Rogers owns Fido so maybe that's why there is Rogers software in the Fido ROM? I'm not sure since I don't have a Fido phone to test.

I own a fido i747 as well. There shouldn't be any rogers bloadware installed on your phone.
I've gone back to stock before and Fido software was on it but, this time, it put Rogers crap on it. I even used the file I had downloaded originally but
for some reason it wont load Fido this time. Not a huge deal, but i'm a little anal about the whole problem.
First, im from Australia.
i bought the galaxy note 10.1 (2014) LTE second hand few months ago, didnt see any branding on box or bloatwares. its 4G version, local stock (seller said from dicksmith). i tried with voda simcard and it works, both call and data. i cant remember if i tried with other simcard at that time....
it had 4.4.2 originally, but then i flashed 5.1.1 nordic rom via odin yesterday - dirty flashed.
all good, flashed ok, connected to wifi fine and start downloading updates, etc.
the voda sim card is still working fine, i got 4G signal and able to make calls, etc.
BUT
today i tried to swap simcard with telstra, and it didnt recognised! there is no warning something like "network locked" or something like that, it didnt connected to the network, cant make call or get data.
also with tpg simcard, doesnt work either.
weird. any idea why? is it possible the flashing process has somehow locked the simcard tablet can use (in this case, voda)?
after trying with different sim card from different provider, now im 99% sure mine is LOCKED~!!!
anyone know how to unlocked?
Ok So I have a T-Mobile Samsung Galaxy s3 (SGH-T999L) (LTE Version). I previously rooted it and installed custom ROM using Cyanogenmod, then changed to TWRP later. Then, i wanted to revert to stock and unrooted my phone. I was told to install latest firmware and did so (Android 4.3 T999LUVUBOH1). Since then, i went from T-Mobile to MetroPCS. The phone is unlocked. When trying to use metropcs sim card on s3, it works for about 5 minutes (able to call & text), then all of a sudden i get NO SIGNAL and cannot do ANYTHING! I used my husband's metropcs sim card and same thing happened. Then, I tried my mom's AT&T sim card and it did seem to work fine for awhile. I tried accessing mobile networks to change APN while I had my mom's sim in there and was able to but when i insert my sim card it says: "Insert Sim to access network services" and there IS a sim in there. Our sims work fine on other phones. I don't understand what's going on. I've tried to flash a modem and even rooting it again, but Odin keeps failing or not responding. I cannot flash ANYTHING!!! Please help!
Flash back to a stock ROM and make sure everything works. Once this is done, call MetroPCS to see if they need to register the phone's imei on their system.
Thanks. It had official stock Rom already on it. I can try again if Odin decides to work for me. I have USB debugging on. I'll let you know what happens. I will also call Metro PCS. thanks again.

Omgoodness!! Thank you SO much! Calling metro pcs worked. I'm in disbelief! So simple, I didn't even think of it. I really appreciate your help!
No problem. Glad it worked. We're all here to help and learn from each other.
Good day everyone!
I recently got a new phone (Galaxy S21), and I saw that you can bring your own phone to Tracfone, so I gave my Verizon S9 (SM-G960U) to my wife (to upgrade her old Samsung Tracfone phone).
We bought and installed the Tracfone SIM card and everything seemed to be working (she could make and take phone calls).
Little did I realize that Tracfone actually also uses WiFi for phone calls, and thus making and taking calls was not using Tracfone's network while connected to WiFi.
When we started researching why her phone did not work outside the home, we found that the CSC is still set to VZW.
This S9 has the latest April 2021 security update from Verizon (Android 10).
I downloaded an older stock Tracfone ROM, but Odin fails with an Auth error (presumably because the phone is not unlocked nor rooted, and the bootloader is locked).
I also tried just flashing the CSC with a Tracfone CSC, but it also failed with an Auth error.
All of the research I have done to this point indicates that Samsung makes flashing Android 10 Galaxy phones very difficult, and I suspect that I am screwed.
Should I put the Verizon SIM card back in and beg Verizon support for an unlock code? Will that even help?
Why doesn't the Tracfone SIM card override the VZW CSC? I thought the SIM card would take precedence.
Thank you in advance, and I hope I am not repeating another thread (I searched, but I couldn't find anything related to changing CSC or rooting a Samsung Galaxy phone running Android 10).
P.S. I have no objections to performing a factory reset of the phone if it will help.
P.P.S. I would like to run the stock Tracfone S9 image so my wife can get the OTA updates, but I'm willing to do whatever to get it working (I would even be happy with running the existing VZW firmware as long as it works).
