Hi guys,
I think I've found a possible workaround for forcing Nexus Update without breaking Google Services Framework. I did this procedure on three Nexus and got the same result, so I think it's safe (or I'm lucky as hell).
Step by step:
Settings->Apps->All->Google Services Framework
Click on Force Stop and Clear Data after.
Go check your System Updates on "Settings->About". If it works and your phone starts downloading the update, reboot your phone immediately. When it's back on, Google Services will ask your permission to get your location and anonymous data, click Agree and open some google app, like Maps. Go back to your System Updates on About menu and proceed as usual.
I think the trick here is to allow Google Service Framework to rebuild its data before the update run itself.
Well, it worked for me and worth a try
Breaking google services framework? I've never heard of that.

When you clear the data of Google Framework, some stuff breaks, but after awhile it will go back to normal.

It happens a lot when you clear it to force the update. Search the forum and you'll see a lot of reports about that.

One issue is your phone can disappear from the Play Store "devices" list. This happened to me but eventually it will come back, just takes time.
Great!

Did you try clearing data and cache in apps? Or even uninstall and reinstall the app itself
sent from my GS3
Usually I just exit the app, hold the home button and clear all recent apps and then it works again.

Easy fast simple solution when this occurs and usually after an update. Just uninstall the app completely and then go back to google play store and redownload the app.
Have a great day!
I have been tried all the way ( clear, uninstall update etc) but still error... I tried to install other program 'tubemate' still cant connect /play the video, but when i download the video first and play later is no problem..
Maybe something wrong with my data package on my carrier??? Hmmm..
Thanks for all advise...

Im getting the same thing on my tablets now (nexus 7 and 10). Uninstalling updates solves the issue, but then again I want the new sweet app... Any solution for this?

Same issue here. Reinstalling doesn't fix it.
Edit: But disabling Adblock Plus does fix it.

Ty, I've been hunting for a solution for some time now, and I didn't think of something like that.... It is true, when I disabled AdBlock Plus, I didn't see the error again.
Guess I either need a replacement for Adblock Plus, or something in it's settings to change?? hmmmm.
Again though, thanks again!!!!
:good::good::good::good::good::laugh:
wow thanks for this. It's been driving me insane. I removed Adblock Plus and it worked. So I installed AdAway and rebooted. Seems to still work fine also. So try that ad blocking app out. So far so good.
Solved ! ( apparently not related to AdBlockPlus)
To make a long story short, I don't have AdBlockPlus but i DO have DroidWall installed.
just forgot I had to allow "MediaServer" to access the internet (as well as YouTube of course) - problem solved.
This has been happening to me. I fixed it by going to manage apps. YouTube, Delete cache, delete data, uninstall updates and I clicked the turn off button. Ran cleanmaster app and removed junk files. Then I rebooted and turned youtube back on and now videos will play. I'm on the Galaxy S4 stock.
Hopefully this helps someone
By the way Facebook wouldn't play any videos it would say "can't play video" and now Facebook is playing the same videos that it couldn't before.

Thanks that did it for me as well. Have been searching on the internet but no real solution for people with a firewall or a privacy app (pdroid/xprivacy etc). But this made it work on my S4.
Thanks!

How about upgrading from that dinosaur you're using? Gingerbread is like 4 years outdated.
No AdBlock, Firewall, root or custom ROM
I have stock device 4.3 android (not Samsung btw.). As i said, no adblock/firewall/custom rom etc.
When I updated YouTube app, I got that connection problem.
I've tryed reinstalling, changing DNS1 and 2, clearing data... Nothing helped...
Any suggestions?

It's happening to me now too. But since mine's installed as a User App and not a System App, I can't just uninstall the updates, although I did try uninstalling it completely and reinstalling. No joy.
I've tried a dozen different things. You should know that lots of people post lots of "solutions", but for 95% of the users, none of them work.
I'm hurting especially bad, because it happens to me on both types of connections (4G & WiFi). I even tried a 3rd party YouTube app and that wouldn't work either.
All this since today's (or last night's?) v10.25.57 YouTube update!
I am running a Samsung.
Samsung Galaxy (SGH-M819N) Mega
KitKat 4.4.4 (Stock), Rooted
Thank You.

Hi,
I tried disabling AdAway and reverting back to the original Hosts file, but no joy.
This time, it's affecting both my 4G & WiFi connections. When this happened before, I could at least watch it on 4G.
The weird thing is, that if I'm not signed in, I can watch videos. But once I sign in, EVEN WHEN USING A 3RD PARTY YOUTUBE APP, I have the problem!
Yes, eventually a YouTube update will come through that will fix it (could be 6 months or so), but I'm thinking that something "underneath" it all got updated/changed at the same time, because otherwise;
Why would it affect me only when I sign in?
And if it was limited to only the YouTube app being updated and there isn't anything else being changed at the same time in the background where you don't see it, then how could 3rd party YouTube apps be affected when you sign in to them with your Google (Gmail) account?
See what I mean? Something else, "under the hood" simply must be going on, amen?
TTYL
Hello everyone.
I just purchased a brand new S8+ from Best Buy, unlocked as "T-Mobile." They asked me which carrier I had, I guess so I get the unlocked version of that variant? I dunno. The phone model is SMG955U1ZKAX, for what it's worth.
Anyway, my apps are stalling if I tried to download on mobile network (LTE), but will always work on Wifi.
It doesn't say that it's waiting for WiFi or anything. They just sit at "downloading" and the little arrow notification flashes for a second and goes away.
Things I've tried:
Clearing cache and data for Google Play Store, and GP Services.
Reset the device to factory.
Installing the latest Google Play Store apk from here: http://www.apkmirror.com/apk/google-inc/google-play-store/google-play-store-8-0-22-release/
My problem isn't resolved. This is pretty inconvenient because if I'm out and need to download an app because I forgot, I simply cannot download it until I'm on a wifi network.
Anyone else know about this issue or know how to perhaps resolve it?
Thanks.
I'm having the same problem right now. Any solution.

stuff, while you mention the steps you took to correct the problem, you didn't mention some others that might fix the problem.
Screenshot 1: In the Play Store settings, make sure auto-update is on any time
SS #2: Go to Settings\Data Usage\Mobile data usage. Find the Play Store
SS #3 and 4: Click the Play Store and make sure you allow for background data usage. You can do the bottom one as well, but not necessary. Repeat for both Google Play Services and Media (called Media Storage on Samsungs.)
Go into your Settings and delete data for Download Manager.
sorry to dredge
So I noticed nobody had a solution. Might I suggest once you've made sure you have downloads set to both wifi and data that you turn on your wifi but do not select a network. It should start the downloads as soon as wifi is technically on.
My apps on the play store don't seems to be updating even after I manually press update, it takes more than an hour to start. I have a stable internet connection (wifi) and loads of space. Any advice?
Clean google playstore app cache and data. And try to download apps
Sometimes it's an error from the playstore, just clear data and wait for couple hours and try again

If you have installed TrueCaller, uninstall it to update the apps from PlayStore.
Thank you, uninstalling did the trick. But why does this happen?
Truecaller is the culprit in my case

It was truecaller culprit in my case just uninstall it and restart the phone your playstore should resume to normal function
So truecaller prevents apps from updating. That's not good
Hey guys,
After the latest update, I have been getting Google sync error, and then there's the play store error where I cannot download apps.
Sync and app downloads happen at their own time and have tried from clearing playstore services cache to resetting the phone to factory settings.
Hard reset works but the issue returns. Does anyone else have this issue? Please do comment

Do you have any suspected app?! Like truecaller
1) Simply try restart.
2) Uninstall True caller and restart.
3) Network setting reset. Settings - Advanced settings - Backup & Reset
4) Factory Reset

damn seems honor screwed it uo big time, approached their CS for rollback steps but the person has no clue. Local service center is rated 2star, you know what happens there....
Deleting true caller worked for me as well. This is strange though.
Deleted Tapzo started working fine will wait to be more sure

I suspect Honor's rigorous battery saving mechanism has to do something with it, both True caller and Tapzo are quite invasive apps, they want to display more ads and need more access to info on phone. I hope they attend to this emailed their support.
Yeah I guess thats the reason, downloading apps after getting the update has become an issue though. I hope they fix it soon.

Strange things are happening. Like some apps refuse to update until I uninstall them and reinstall again.
Don't know if this is an issue with Google or Huawei.

I think it's Huawei to blame, but what surprises me is that Huawei is clueless about this, and except for the standard troubleshoot they've got nothing.
Especially since smartphones are more capable than ever I feel like they could at least have some diagnostics to run and ID whats causing such simple issues.
May be if they really listen, they might release a patch soon. So far most of their cs are clueless and are technically incapable.
I guess Google is to be blamed because I encountered this error 497 on my previous device as well. By using VPN, this error goes away.

I've had this problem before on my Nvidia Shield. For me the problem was (after a ****load of research) was the fact that I had a 3rd party app store installed on my device. If you have a 3rd party app store installed uninstall it. You can also try to clear the cache and data from the PlayStore apk.
No 3rd party app store. I'll try clearing the cache.

You have play store updating on data and you have wifi on or you have play store updating on wifi only and wifi off.
