Hopefully , this can be a marker for anyone looking to get Skype Video Working.
So far i have managed to get Skype video working on all Sense 2.1 and 3.0 ROMS
i have run into issues with AOSP ROMS. I believe the issue is with the front camera being read at an inadequate pixel rate. try switching the resolution when in the camera app.
ALSo, for those that are running AOSP, SAVAGED,CM7 nightlys etc.. will you please post your ROM+KERNEL COMBINATION.
linked are the two Skype.apks that i have used

Hi everyone,
I see that HDR is working in the stock camera app, but only on Sense based roms. I can't get HDR to work in any other apps on stock (or Viper) and it doesn't work in any applications on Lineage based roms. I read at one point that it's something that's being worked on, but that was months ago and I haven't seen any updates since.
Does anyone have a rom where HDR works? If not, can anyone explain why this feature is non-functional (closed source drivers, etc) and if there's any hope that it'll work in the future?
I have HDR on aex ROM with snap cam. It's a paid app.
Any idea to fix poor camera result in "Video Calling Apps" like Whatsapp, Skype etc?
Is there any Custom or MIUI rom for Note 5 Pro where camera works just fine during videos calls instead of being dark, blurry and grainy making it look like a VGA camera from a decade ago in 3rd party apps like Whatsapp, IMO, Skype, Facebook etc? I tried many versions of MIUI 9 and 10 (Stable & Beta) also tried latest Lineage, Nitrogen and PE Extended custom roms but result is same horrible camera result in video calls.
The camera works fine in Google Duo and built in Camera app so the issue is not with the camera. This is a major bug every user is facing it in RN5P and MIUI forums are full with threads on this bug but i haven't seen any youtuber mentioning this bug at all although there are a like a million videos about RN5P on youtube discussing same features over and over again.
Roms i tried:
MIUI 9.5.19
MIUI 9.6.4
MIUI 10.0.1
MIUI 10.0.2
MIUI 10.0.4
MIUI 8.10.25 Beta
MIUI 8.11.1 Beta
MIUI 8.11.8 Beta
PE Extended Latest
Linage OS 15.1 Latest
Nitrogen OS Latest
All of the above mentioned Roms had this issue.
So any idea how can i fix this bug or if there is any rom with a fix for this issue? This is really poor from Xiaomi to have a 13MP front camera with a bug like this and they are not even willing to fix it.

That's not a solution i can't ask everyone to install Google Duo just because my phone video calling sucks in other apps so they need to stop using those apps too.

It can also be problem with those apps... Can't blame Xiaomi alone... Camera2api from Xiaomi can improve the overall quality because OEMs have complete control over camera blobs

I found out that if in video call, I switch between front and back camera, the quality changes.
Hey everyone,
I can see there are some AOSP based ROMs for G7. I've tried some already, but my G7 is a daily driver, so I can't be reflashing it all day long to check on my own.
Thus I'd like to ask you guys, is there any camera app for AOSP based ROM, that supports same qualities LG's built-in camera app does? Expecially slow-mo (up-to [email protected] FPS), [email protected] FPS, wideangle camera, OIS.
I tried a GCam (+ some mods for G7) and some apps that are available on Play store. None of those was supporting 4K. Some were not even working well with OIS.
I would really like to get a custom ROM (LG's ROM is full of bugs), but this kind of limitation is a deal breaker for me.
Post title.
I've had this phone for nearly a year at this point, and the main reason I got it was on my OP7P, all the nice custom roms I could try out. However, the difference between there and here is that custom ROMs on that phone had OOS Cam, they also had the ability to dualboot.
I've avoided being on a custom rom this entire time is because I don't want to give up OOS Cam, but what do you guys feel about the lack of it? I know GCam exists but you can't use 4K120/60 video recording with GCam as far as I know. Has there been any changes to the app to allow for that?
I think that more and more people are asking for it to be integrated in custom ROMs. The thing is that on the opposite of the OnePlus 7 OOS cam app, the OnePlus 9 Pro's is heavily tied to OPPO's ColorOS Camera. And from what I understood, ColorOS has been a pain to deal with for developers, as OPPO isn't as community orentied as OnePlus.
That's one of the things stopping me from switching to a custom ROM. When I've tried GCam on OOS, none of the ports are stable enough. I'm not a huge camera user, but if my camera could crash when I WANT to use it, that would piss me off.
I found somewhere in this forum port of OOS cam, photos and videos working, some features missing tho, lucky I don't use them
So, custom ROM can live with OOS cam

That camera is from OP7 AFAIk, and it's next to useless. photo processing is broken, and video fails at 60fps, so people may as well use Gcam since it's does a far better job than that broken port.
