Internal storage confusion

cm7
Im confused with my internal storaga bc, when check STORAGE, it says internal storage available 89mb BUT when I go inTo APPLICATIONS, it says 125 mb of internal available?
Is it supposed so say that,or is there something I'm missing
Guess I'm the only one with this right now
Never happened to me. Go into recovery and wipe cache, dalvik cache three times each and reboot. If that doesn't work then just leave it. The one in the applications is more accurate.
Ok thanks, that worked

Missing storage space

Hello,
I attempted to download a file last night and was told I has insufficient space. As I checked settings and storage it did show I had used all my internal space but none of the numbers added up. About 8gb was missing. I have 16 gb internal and all of my apps media photos and such only took up about 8. Also it said my total space was only 12 gb.
I did a factory reset flushed cache and dalvik cache even wiped my entire internal SD and did a fresh install of Rom gapps and kernel. Now after all that I still have 12gb total, I know have 7 gb available. But what I have on the phone does not add up to 5 gb of data. I have attached a screenshot of what it currently says and it is still not adding up to me.
Any help would be appreciated.

remember, your OS and all it's necessary files will take up a portion, typically leaving you with this 12gb amount.
also, if you transitioned from 4.1. to 4.2 (or one 4.2 rom to another 4.2 rom) then you need to perform the below wipe functions in order to eliminate the storage issue:
-wipe data
-wipe cache
-wipe dalvik
-format /system
-format /data
-flash rom/gapps
i keep my rom/gapps, backups, etc on a micro sd card so that i can perform the necessary wipes while still retaining everything i need to flash on the micro sd.
Thanks I'll add the storage wipes as well and give it a try.

[Q] Problem with memory space

Why i dont have almost nothig of free space on my internal memory? i installed custom rom and wiped everything with twrp recovery but i still dont have any space left.. how to resolve this?
Try Wipe data, System, cache, dalvik, and reinstall phone
Edit: Oh sorry you already done this, i don't know
Boot into twrp...go to wipe then fix or change filesystem of internal storage..check what format internal storage is in..if it is in vfat change it to ext4..! this should solve your problem..
PS :VERY IMPORTANT: you will lose all data on internal storage! i am not responsible for loss of data or bricked phone !
I was facing the same problem . By Factory Data Reset from the settings of Redmi 1s i succeeded in reclaiming 2.3 GB of internal storage.. In the process of reset all personal data, apps and even google apps are gone .. but i restored from the backup i have created before hand

Twrp Backups include internal storage

Hey everyone I rooted my device last night, was on LP. Went to make a backup of my current setup but noticed my data backup size was gigantic, after some testing I figured out it was adding my whole internal storage as part of the backup.
Any ideas on how to fix this? Using latest twrp for our device
I'm trying to figure it out also 10 gigs for a backup compared to 1.5 or 2 gigs on my g3
Well I don't know if you wanna do this, but I formatted data in recovery (formats all of your/data ext including internal sd). Then used SD Maid Pro to clean up system app cache and user app cache. Then before making my next back up I wiped dalvik and cache. My data partition size dropped from 6.5gb from my 1st backup to 880mb, so I'd assume formatting data worked for me
But I hear you I had a G3 too, backups were never over 2 gbs lol
I don't think twrp backups stuff from your SD card or internal storage. I think it's from the size of the ROM plus apps and app data.

resize partition?

i apologize if these seems like stupid idea, but I come from having a Samsung S4 (sgh-i337) and would save my data to the SD card and wipe all of the internal memory when clean flashing new roms.
is there a way to do that for the 128gb storage space, to save 10-15gb for backups, roms, etc? assuming in TWRP
I got my 5T on Tuesday and already have installed TWRP and rooted my device
I just didnt want to configure it too much if i have to wipe it all to resize partitions
thanks for the feedback
No, u cannot save space on the internal memory that will not be touched. You do not have to wipe your internal memory though when flashing new ROMs. That is completely separate from the flashing process. When flashing you wipe cache, dalvik, boot, system, and data, not storage or internal memory. Flash the ROM, boot up, and everything on your internal storage will be present. Also, this should go in the questions and answers thread.
