Have been using ChompSMS free version for over 6 months now. So far, it has been working fine, until a few days ago. It simple stopped sending SMS with an error message - message not sent - and a red exclamation mark. I can receive SMS, but not send them at this point. The deafault sms messenger is working fine, though.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance

Go into settings- apps- and clear the data on ChompSMS - I use handcent and it is working fine...
Clearning data did not help. Only reset my custom settings for chomp sms.
i have the same problem and I messaged them about it too. They emailed me back.

Hi there,
Sorry, it's an Android bug, we can't fix it at present (but are trying very hard!). We cannot track it down, if we did we'd fix it. It's a bug that shows in Android code caused by something in our chompSMS code, but given it's 5 million lines of code, it's not exactly easy to find.
We'll keep looking. Once fixed we'll update chomp ASAP.
Can you try our sister messaging application Textra SMS for now please.
Appreciate your understanding!
Jason - chompSMS Team
Interestingly, I just had the same problem with Textra, with the exact same symptoms. I could receive SMS, but not send. It would pretend to, then issue a notification a few minutes later saying it had failed. This would lend credence to it being a problem at the OS level.
Not sure what the deal is, though. I was using Textra on CM11 with zero problems on my Skyrocket.
Does anyone else have issues with sending SMS on aosp Roms? I've searched for an answer but can't seem to find what the issue is.
What messenger service are you using? I use hangouts which requires an internet connection. As long as your APNs are set correctly you should be able to send and receive no problem.

Thanks. I use hangouts also but I found what was keeping me from sending SMS. It was voice+, I use Google voice and every time I restored all my apps(google voice included) it would activate voice+ and not allow me to send messages through SMS because of some setting. It wasn't till I restored each app one by one and tested SMS that I figured it out.
Glad I did though.
This probably started about a week ago, but I've had the phone for about a month. I'm with Fido in Canada. My previous phone was a Samsung S4, and never had that issue before. I have the 2gb North American ZE551ML on the latest firmware and root, but locked bootloader. I've done a factory reset and cleared the cache but it didn't help. Most of my contacts have an iphones so it seems to only happen to them. Other than that I couldn't really narrow it down to anything else. I've tried using Awsms, Messenger, Stock app, and currently, I'm using Textra but it happens regardless of which app I use. I'm also using Amplify, Powernap, and Greenify and the guide on how to use them from the XDA front page from about a month ago.
I had to use a app from app store to get picture messaging. Text is fine. But no picture messaging
Sent from my ASUS_Z00AD using XDA Free mobile app

Did you use an iPhone, if only briefly? This sounds like an iMessage issue (SMS/MMS reception broken for only iPhone senders).
No I've never used one, but my mother who's under my account has an Iphone.
You must have disabled some asus app which is impacting the sms delivery ex asus service etc. Disable amplify, powernap, greenify then reboot and try again it will work.

Sounds like the same provider plan, yes? This will be way out in left field, but does the shared plan have only one phone number? (I don't know why in the world it would - party lines are so 1970's - but it doesn't hurt to ask.)

No it's two separate numbers. But I called Fido today, and they said I had Imessage activated on my account and that might be causing the issue.
Use a different SMS program such as Textra and it will start working fine.
Have you tested with WiFi disabled? There was an issue was reported with ASUS Messaging unable to receive MMS with WiFi turned on. We suggested using Hangouts in the meantime.

Does it have to be Hangouts specifically or another third party messaging app? I tried sending messages with wifi on and off using both textra, and the stock messaging app. I lost messages in each combination, it appears to be random.
I wasn't receiving SMS until I signed out of Hangouts, disabled the app, re-enabled it, and signed back in.
what this fixed with the new update?
I am unable to send messages from my ASUS 550KL mobile can i get any solutions for my issue

Dear Chocketbear,
The issue should have already been resolved with earlier firmware update. Please note SIM card slot 1 can access 3G/4G/LTE data. SIM card slot 2 can only be used for 2G service which include voice and basic text messaging (Not multimedia messaging services MMS or internet browsing). If possible please send me a private message to [email protected] with case # N151275977 in the subject line. Please provide the following:
-Serial Number
-Firmware version
-What specific carrier and MVNO service.
-Can you receive basic texting?
-Have you tried wipe cache/recovery?
Sincerely,
Frank

Change your settings
Go to apn.gishan.net look for your phone whatever your service, phone type all models. Do it and you will be happy??? It worked for me .Just follow the settings. Make sure that you do not put spaces in the mmc spots. You will see what I mean. It worked on my straight talk byop service. DO IT?
Anyone else have erratic results with this app? Using it on my s20+ with Tmo us, I can't send txt messages. The store replaced the sim card, still no luck. App works fine on my wife's A71 5g. Switched to the Google messages app and it seems to work fine. I'm a bit puzzled by this. The store tried to tell me that messaging wouldn't work with Wi-Fi calling enabled, but disabling it doesn't seem to be helping. No real problem using Google app, just seems strange.

I have the S20 dual SIM with both Google Fi (TMO Network) and AT&T. I actually switched from Google messages to Samsung messages and have no issues sending our receiving with either Network.
I have the 9810 model.
Thanks for the info. Must be something to do with the version I have or other software on my phone. My messages app is version 11. 1.65.17

I had the same issue before. Biggest pain in the butt. I tried changing sim cards too, asking tmobile to refresh my phone signal with no luck.
What worked for me was deactivating the chat features from the google messages app then waiting like 5 min, just to be safe. Then use my sim card on another phone and turn it on and wait like 5 minutes, for me the refreshing sim data prompt showed up twice. Text some people that use the advanced messages(rcs) with the stock app to make sure it works. Then switch the sim back to my phone and i was able to text the people i used to have issues with fine.
What i figured was the issue was that since you used google messages which used the google jibe servers for rcs, your phone number is still stuck in the servers. I did all that before this form was available to unlink your phone from the jibe servers. Give it a try too.
Hi all,
I have a Realme GT ME which I bought a couple of months ago. Everything is working fine, got the new OS update as well but one thing that is not working is SMS. Also only when SMS is generated from another app.
Normal SMS is working fine. I can send and recieve them. Only when another app tries to send and SMS, say for some verification, it instantly fail. However if I try to send the same SMS again by tapping it to retry, it work fine. I have no clue why this is happening. I have tried and ruled out most of the probable causes,
1. Sim is working fine since normal SMS works
2. It isn't the messageing app since I have tried installing a different one.
3. The SMS issue is caused in all app hence it is not app specific.
Hence it has to be something to do with the OS or the SMS service. I'd really appeciate if someone would be able to help me.
Thanks a lot.
