USB Debugging - Authorisation for PC - Xiaomi Mi A2 Lite Questions & Answers

I am trying to back up my phone using Syncios. I have all the options made in Developer Settings/Mode. Phone is Android 10, March update.
On an elderly Windows 7 machine, I get a USB Debugging Authorisation panel on the phone and I accept and connect flawlessly to Syncios.
On a much newer Windows 10 Home laptop, I do not get the panel, so cannot authorise to connect to PC.
Any ideas/tips please??

Since the Android 10 update I can't connect the phone via USB to any of my computers (win10, 7, Ubuntu), also I can't connect it in fastboot, so maybe you get the same bug on your phone.

The phone connects to a W7 computer perfectly well.

It's been a couple of months since I was able to successfully connect phone on Ubuntu or Win10. It's not even showing any notification that it is connected.

My phone works fine with both a Mac (10.11) and PC (Windows 10)... Maybe there's something you can clear data on... Maybe if you click on Revoke USB debugging authorizations?
I normally use wireless adb though. The app Quick Settings gives me a toggle in the notification shade (ADB over LAN) and then I just adb connect IP from the computer. My router assigns a fixed IP and hostname to my phone so it's easy

task
I’m connecting my iphone to windows pc and i have errors constantly. I have additional software to connect different os. It isn’t an issue. I have notifications about viruses. That’s weird because i have this protection it seems to be ok. Can’t understand what’s the problem

How To Get Windows 8.1 To Recognise USB Mass Storage On Your Phone
I have had the problem for ages that when I connected my Samsung Galaxy GT-S5360 into my Windows 8.1 PC nothing happened - Windows 8.1 simply refused to recognise the device - not even anything in device manager - nothing - nada
However it would recognise the phone if I set the phone to download mode - but I want to use my phone as mass storage
Well after months of trying I finally found a really stupid solution
Solution
Install the usb drivers for your phone as normal
connect the phone to pc via usb cable (nothing happens other then a few beeps as normal)
now plug in any usb dongle that you have already installed on your pc - like a usb wireless mouse dongle
suddenly windows detects the phone and you can now set your phone to mass storage from the phone status bar
Every time you want to connect your phone in mass storage just plug it in then plug in the other usb dongle after

it maybe the brand of laptop too and the chipset of the laptop - there have been lots of problems with usb devices with windows 8.1 and inbuilt bluetooth too although manufacturers quickly released new bluetooth drivers as the windows 8 ones didnt work in windows 8.1
so this is just for those who have problems with their particular laptop
Similar Issue with Samsung Galaxy S
I had a similar problem when I needed to copy some files onto a Galaxy S. In the past, I had to ensure that USB Debugging was off, connect the USB cable and then select Mass Storage on the smartphone. Win 8.1 Explorer did not see the device although it showed up as SAMSUNG_Android in Eject Media and Device Manager had the phone listed under Universal Serial Device. I was able to access the phone on one laptop by selecting Samsung Kies as the connection method (showed up in Explorer under the device type rather than a drive letter) but this did not work on another laptop.
The steps described in "How to connect Android devices to PC with USB Mass Storage Mode" on device-recovery.com worked for me on both Win 8.1 laptops: enable USB Debugging, connect the phone, pull down the status bar, tap on the USB Connected entry and then Mass Storage.

What you said will not work for this phone because when you plug it into a windows 8.1 laptop the option to select connect to mass storage in status bar is not there - It just shows the phone as charging
The only way iv found on a windows 8.1 laptop with this issue (note it depends on your hardware to weather you have this problem) is to plug the phone into the laptop then plug any other dongle in - the option to then connect to mass storage suddenly appears in the status bar and you can connect as normal

Connecting to PC to Browse

Wow, I would think this would be easy (coming from a Nexus 5), I just plugged in the N5 via USB to my Windows 7 machine and boom, I could browse the phone. Now, trying to do this with my G3, I have installed Windows drivers and nothing. I plug the phone in and nothing happens other than a pop up on the phone saying it is charging slowly. I've searched the LG site and Google and found references to MTP and having 3 options when connecting the phone to the PC but I get none of those options and cannot find an MTP option in settings. All I can find is a Connect to PC which tells me to use LG PC Suite. I really don't want to install some other software. I just want to browse the phone and copy files over. Is this not possible with the G3?
Switch usb ports. Set up usb connection as MTP.
Huh? As mentioned, I don't get any options to select MTP. Drivers installed, various USB ports tried, nothing happens other than a slow charging pop up.
Edit: Seems the system at work for some reason does not see the device properly. Just tried at home on my PC and it's fine. Bizarre.
If it's a work PC, it is possible your system admin disabled MTP completely. Because, you know... security and stuff.
try going on your phone while it is plugged into the pc

USB charges but no data

Hi, my phone stopped being able to get a USB data connection. The port is physically intact and does not wiggle. I've tried two different Macs and one PC, different USB-A to -C cables (all verified by Benson Leung). Also toggled USB debug, MTP and PTP modes from Developer Options, rebooted phone and computer. When I plug the phone in, it only goes to Charging mode. Android File Transfer doesn't see it and 'adb devices' comes back empty. There is no notification offering me to select connection type. Did I miss anything or is it time to send it in? Thanks, Tony
What OS are you running on your Windows - checking your Device Manager under Control Panels - are all the Google / N5X drivers installed and working correctly before this ? Try uninstalling, reboot PC and re-install them - and, use different USB port to connect the cable (what kind of connections are you using ??)
Can you run ADB ?
Thanks I'm primarily using a Mac (10.10.5) but the PC was running Vista. It was a borrowed PC so I didn't install the drivers. I don't think it's a driver issue though since nothing shows up in device manager and the phone doesn't offer to switch out of charge-only mode. Also the same Mac worked previously.

As regards the attaching of files, you have to have a minimum number of posts to be able to do that.
As regards the USB, be a little more specific like what you are trying to do, which ROM you are running, whether you are rooted, what happens when you connect the phone to PC etc which will enable the members to help you.
There could be several reasons for this, but lets start with the basics.
Have you tried a different cable?
Have you selected File Transfer (MTP) from usb options?

I get a windows sound like its connecting then in the bottom right where the time is next to that is a root sign then I get a pop up saying exactly.....The last USB device you connected to this computer malfunctioned and Windows does not recognize it. Recommendation.. Try reconnecting the device. If Windows still does not recognize it, your device may not be working properly. When I go to the Device Manager/Control Panel it doesnt do anything. I've tried to add adb to the path but maybe added it to wrong path now it won't come on. If there is a work around maybe to re-add to right path. Device Manager was fine before I added adb and added path as per internet search. Device Manager before would say something like error 39. I've tried MTP that doesn't get it to open up either.

I cant even root for the life of me now, Im on 8.0, I'm trying to just root the phone and to start the computer has to recognize it I understand but it won't, with my Oneplus 2 was fine,(I'm thinking maybe phone doesnt have the drivers built in to the file system, you know when you plug in and turn on MTP it shows the drivers app for Windows?) the only thing it errors plugging in.

On my son's pc running windows 10, I didn't have any issues connecting my OP3 to it and viewing files, nor did I have to install any drivers, same for Windows 7.
Hook phone to pc via usb cable.
Pull down notification bar and select "File Transfer" from usb options or go to Settings and search USB and select USB Preferences > File Transfer.
Browse phone from Window's file manager.
If still having issues, you can try and install Oneplus USB drivers, reboot pc and see if the phone can be recognized.

For some reason it's working now don't know what the problem was or even if it was something I did. Either way it's fixed.

If you are running Win 10, you will have to disable driver signing before the correct drivers are installed. May be that was your issue.

Make sure File-Transfer is selected on phone when connected over USB. Try rebooting both PC and phone.
If Windows makes a sound, it must be in Device Manager. It may not be properly recognized and shown under the category "Other devices", when "Show hidden devices" is enabled.
There are days that my Windows 10 - especially if I change phone - that stops recognizing the phone I have connected and in Device Manager gives me the error. I solve it by going to the option to update the drivers manually and I choose MTP USB and after that the phone is recognized.
