Using Jawbone for audio with Windows xp laptop
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I have a Jb which I use very successfully with my Nokia N75 phone. I want to use it for skype, etc on my windows xp laptop (a Thinkpad). I have tried several times to set it up but when I connect, I get an annoying rapid 8-tone signal about every 5 seconds. I suspect I have to change some audio setting on the laptop but I cant seem to find and fix the problem. Does anyone know how to make this work?
What is beeping your laptop or your headset? What bluetooth stack are you using on your laptop?
Jawbone with Windows PC
Thanks for your interest. The headset is beeping. I am not sure what bluetooth stack I have. I have a linksys usbbt100 bluetooth device plugged into a usb port. I set windows to use bluetooth for audio and microphone instead of the default internal Intel device. it worked perfectly the first time I plugged it in and paired it with the jawbone. then the next day I tried again and something was wrong. I dont recall exactly what I did but I have now messed with all of the windows settings and cant get it to work. I have also deleted and re-paired a couple of times as well as reset the jawbone. I spent two hours on the phone with linksys and they gave up. The computer works fine for a data transfer via bluetooth with my nokia phone which I did with the help of the linksys tech. I spent a half hour on the phone with Aliph, the jawbone maker, and they said it was not their problem.
You're probably screwed
I think you're out of luck getting the Jawbone to work with XP. XP doesn't currently support bluetooth headsets, and Aliph decided to embrace style of substance and save a few pennies per device by not licensing the WIDCOMM drivers for their headset.
I haven't looked at it, but check out the SP3 white paper to see if that might give you the services you need.
I had this *exact* problem and couldnt figure out how to solve it (my first bluetooth headset)
I think that ringing sound means the PC is trying to connect to the headset, and is waiting for you to press the talk button. So, I pressed the talk button and *nothing*. I pressed it again, and again etc... still nothing. It turns out, I wasnt pressing it hard enough. Anyway, it connected after a while and I was happy.
I think some sets might just have a stiff button or something. But I find I dont have to press so hard anymore - maybe it just takes a while to "break in" the button for everyday use...
I recommend the following steps:
- press the reset button on the jawbone
- pair the device
- turn it off using the talk button (try pressing it from different angles with different pressures)
- turn it on
- wait for your bluetooth software to detect it as a headset
- connecting to the headset using the pc
- wait for the 8 ringings
- try pressing the talk button from different angles with different pressures. the ringing should stop and it should start working...
Hope this helps,
James.
Thanks
I will try this sequence and the careful pushing of the talk button tomorrow. I hope it works. Thanks for the valuable coaching.
I just bought a bluetooth headset (plantronics M50, bluetooth v3.0 with A2DP), the phone call is OK, but when I play video, music, the speaker of phone is on, the headset not work, need additional setup? need addtional apps? how?
You shouldn't need any additional apps. When your phone connects it should connect with two "profiles", one for the phone and one for the audio (A2DP).
In the manual for your headset, does it tell you that you need to switch to a certain mode to hear a2dp audio?
solved, just reboot the phone, and you can chose phone audio or media audio in bluetooth setting interface.
I need bluetooth help please

(NOTE - I WOULD START A NEW TOPIC, BUT CANNOT AS I DONT HAVE ENOUGH COMMENTS TO DO SO).......
Just got a new car (Mercedes Benz GL450), and trying to pair my GN to the bluetooth functionality of the car. First off - the car doesnt even support Bluetooth audio, which was a major disappointment, but it has an ipod dock (yes, it is a 2012 $80,000 truck that doesnt have a usb, or basic features that a freeking $15,000 hyundai). Either way, I can connect my GN to the bluetooth phone feature no problem, it pairs, and automatically connects with no issues. I bought a coolstream A2DP bluetooth receiver (http://www.amazon.com/CoolStream-Bluetooth-Receiver-Speakers-docking/dp/B008EL58YA) to plug into the ipod dock. The GN sees it, i try to pair, enter the password, and it wont connect to it. I have read forums all over the internet about how the GN Bluetooth has many issues - does anyone have a solution??
I read here (http://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=24012) that i should toggle airplane mode, switch bluetooth on/off, reboot phone, and bluetooth receiver, etc.... it all doesnt work. Tried A2DP Volume - not the issue, it just wont pair after i enter the password.
I am currently rooted on 4.1.1 XenonHD ROM with Franco Kernal, have tried it with 4.1.1 Vicious Jellybean/Faux Kernal as well - no luck.
Going to try it with 4.1.1 AXI0M ROM, and see what happens..................
Has anyone else run into this issue on any other ROM, that can suggest a fix - note - I am good with flashing roms, kernals, mods, etc....but if you ask me to code, i am clueless.
Thanks to anyone that can help
2008 GL450, only old **s 30 pin Sh*t
Tried many sorts to work with steaming...no go so far.
Pre-historic technology was specially installed on GL's....so to leech out more from customers..MB sucks.
Please let me know if you figured something out mean while.
R,
SJ.

I would post this in the development thread however I too noobian to do so. I am able to pair with a bluetooth device but once I turn bluetooth off, I can't connect to that device anymore. Things I've tried:
- initially connecting to BT device and making a phone call from it (confirming initial pairing was successful)
- deleting paired device and reconnecting with the same results
- leaving my BT on in between using the BT the device, however won't reconnect to paired device.
With stock OS I was able to use the BT device and have it automatically connect, I do like having BT as it comes in handy while driving so finding a solution to this would be nice. Is anyone else having this issue with this rom?
Firstly, an enormous thank you to all the amazing Devs that are still building ROMS for this old (but great!) tablet! Your work and expertise are greatly appreciated!
I've acquired a Nexus 7 2013 Flo 16gb. I wanted to tether WiFi from my Samsung S9 phone via Hotspot and use this tablet for Sat Nav and music etc in my car, a 2011 Ford Grand C-Max. It isn't permanently mounted, just with magnets on the dashboard so I can use it for other things when I'm not driving.
Using the N7's Bluetooth, I can see "Ford Audio" and get a PIN to use displayed on the cars LCD screen when I tap "connect". Everything works fine until I leave the car and take the tablet with me...
The next time I get in the car, the tablet will still see Ford Audio, and the car still lists the N7 as remembered device, but it absolutely will not connect to it again.
If I try to connect using the car's aux button, it'll say "Activating BT Device" for around 30 seconds and then shows "Activation Failed".
If I tap connect on the N7, sometimes it says "connected for a split second and then disappears again as if I never tried to connect.
The only way to get them connected again is to fully debond the N7 from the car, then reconnect from the tablet by entering a PIN number again.
My Samsung Galaxy S9 phone, (and my old Samsung Note 3 phone) doesn't have this problem. I pair the phone once with a PIN, play music with no problems, leave the car, come back, press the Aux button and it immediately picks up Spotify from where I left off. It also displays the name of the song being played and the amount of time the track has been playing, this doesn't happen at all with the Nexus tablet.
I've tried removing all Bluetooth devices from the car, changing the display name of the N7 tablet, 3 new ROMS (Lineage 19, Resurrection Remix Q and RR Pie.) It did this on Stock so thought using a more modern custom ROM would fix this strange problem but 3 ROMs later it's still happening.
I've Googled, and read on XDA, seems a lot of people had Bluetooth problems with this tablet back in the day, but that was on Android 4.4.2... But I'm still feeling this on Androids 6, 9, 10 and 12 so far, was there really never a fix found for Bluetooth problems on this device?
Does anyone have any ideas of what may be going wrong? Or any trouble shooting steps to advise? It's too much fuss to remove and re-pair the tablet every time I leave the car so any help would be appreciated please!
I can now add LineageOS 14.1 (Android7) with the ElementalX kernal to the list.
It does the exact same thing as the other Roms, pairs and connects perfectly the 1st time... After that it stays paired but doesn't connect.
If music/Spotify is already playing on the N7 and I click to connect to Ford Audio in the bluetooth settings, the music will be played on the car speakers for around 2 seconds and then stop, and then start again for another second... And then be gone forever! So bizarre.
The only way around this I can see is to buy an Aux > Bluetooth adapter from Amazon, pair the N7 to it and use the Aux channel for Audio out from the tablet over bluetooth. But I'd lose the ability to skip tracks with the steering wheel controls.
Until recently I had a N7 (2013) as my nav tablet in my vehicle. It was running Lineage.
I didn't have it paired to my stereo system, but it was paired to my steering wheel controls.
I didn't take it in or out, so that simplified things. It had a battery-ectomy and ran on a 4V regulator.
I ended up replacing it with a Walmart Onn 8" $70 tablet.
The Bluetooth spec is 3700 pages so it's doubtful that anyone has ever implemented it correctly.
Hi,
I recently installed Lineage OS 20.0 (Android 13) on my OnePlus 7 Pro and I am getting constant connects and disconnects with one Bluetooth device in particular. This device used to work fine on Oxygen OS running Android 12 just a few days ago. The device does appear to have memory as it makes a pairing request to my phone even when I've forgotten in the the Bluetooth options. Any help would be greatly appreciated, I'm missing listening to music in my car.

Thanks again!
Edit: I forgot to add troubleshooting I have already done. I have forgotten and re-added the device, I have unplugged it for a few hours, unplugged it for about 30 seconds, powered it on and off from my car radio, disabled and enabled access to phone calls and call history, and I played around with random bluetooth settings in developer options.
