Hello
I've had my galaxy s9 from new and have noticed issues with the sound that have recently manifested.
It is to do with using my music player, whatever music I listen to now plays with the volume increasing and decreasing. It's not extreme but I can hear it and it ruins my listening experience.
I've cleared all my cache, deleted apps that may be effecting it and rebooted. I even did a factory reset as a last resort but the problem continues. Lately the battery only lasts about 12hrs where it used to last at least to the following day. Please can you help? I've even removed the music player, which is Google play and reinstalled it.

Did you try using Samsung Music app and check if the problem still exists?
Yes it's exactly the same.

I've asked this question before but there were no replies.... I hope this time I'll get some pointers and re-phrase my question better.
I'm using the GSM Galaxy Nexus 4.1.1
Sometimes my music stops playing when switching apps or pressing the home button to return to the home screen, it doesn't happen all the time, but very troublesome when it does. It happens usually just right after unlocking the phone from sleep. I'm using the stock music player
I've noticed that this issued happened to Android phones as well, I tried to update the stock music app, and switched kernels. I don't know what else I can do. I don't recall encountering this problem back in 4.0.4.
Any help would be appreciated

Give us a bit more info:
1. What music app are you using? If it's an app that can both play local media files and stream, which are you doing?
2. Are you playing your music through headphones, the internal speaker, or Bluetooth?
3. If headphones, have you tried other headphones? If Bluetooth, how far away are the devices?
4. Which ROM and Kernel are you using?

I said I'm using the stock music player, Play Music.
I'm playing music through headphones.
I am sure that this problem is not because of the headphones
I'm using the stock 4.1.1 ROM JRO03C. This problem happend on both the stock kernel and Franco Milestone 5
Are you running any other memory hungry apps? Sounds like your music player is getting killed because the memory is needed for something else.
I've had this happen in two instances, so hopefully my personal experience will help you.
The first time, it ended up being a faulty cord in my Nokia Purity HD headphones, I bought a new cord and that fixed my issues.
The second time it was because I was attempting to play music, that I had downloaded in Spotify, but since I was in a crappy coverage area, it would pause the music every time I lost a data connection, even though the music was stored locally. Switching Spotify to offline mode fixed it, so you might try switching to offline only mode in Play Music.
Even if you don't think it's your headphones (for example, you tried them on a PC and they worked), you have to remember that phones have many more contacts inside the headphone jack, used for the media controls in headsets (headphones with buttons and mics), so if there is a short in your headphones that makes the phone think you're pressing the "Play/Pause" button, it wouldn't show in your PC, because most if not all PCs lack this functionality.
Hi guys. I'm using a stock unrooted One X. It has been running jelly bean since december but a bug came up since a few weeks ago. When I play a song on the stock music player, it would play for less than 10 seconds then it would fast forward or skip to the next song and the bug would happen all over again. This has gotten to the point where its impossible for me to listen to music without feeling very annoyed. This problem doesn't seem to occur when I play the music through the speaker so I'm guessing Beats Audio is causing this. Just a guess though. Anyway I've tried a bunch of things to solve the problem but nothing seems to work. Any help would be appreciated.

Have you tried to clear data of music app ?
Yes I did. I also installed Poweramp and the problem happens there too.
The weird thing about this bug is that it doesn't happen every time. I was listening to music for about 2 hours today and everything was fine. But I'm sure it will happen again.

Well, the only thing that's getting in my mind is to make factory reset.
did you try listening to music with beats audio turned off? that may help narrow down the problem...
My friends S3 has been doing this for the last week or so and mine just started last night. Ill have the phone on silent and usually playing music or watching youtube, the sound is streamed through the headphones or with the volume on, through the speaker. When I try to play something with audio, there will be no sound at all despite the phone having sound off, trying to change the volume in app shows that the volume is locked at silent and it lasts for 2 minutes or in some cases, Ill have to reboot my phone. I noticed that this only happened after installing the Darklord Legends game which my friend had happened to start playing about the same time this started for her. Does anyone here have the same app installed with this issue occuring?

Have you tried uninstalling the game and see if your issues is fixed? If that is the case you may see if you can mesage the devolpers to inform them of the bug
Weird issue. When I use Google Play Music, the volume is low (and crappy mids and highs are low and bass is really boosted) until I get some sort of notification on my phone and then the volume goes to normal levels. On any other music app, such as Soundcloud, it doesn't experience that problem. I use Google Play Music a lot since I'm subscribe to GPMAA. This didn't happen when we were still on 4.1, only started happening on 4.3. Don't want to do a wipe yet if there is some sort of solution that has already been found. Thanks!
Further info: Full stock and no root
That's funny you say that because the exact opposite happens to me. Sometimes when I'm listening to google play music and I get a notification, the phone gets jacked up super loud and doesn't go back down until after I turn it down manually. Same setup, stock and no root.
But I've done multiple factory resets and this is actually a replacement handset and the same thing happens after I upgraded to 4.3.

Lol my issues are not exactly the same but i have issues. I was running boeffla audio on perseus kernel so I don't know if that's why my audio quality dropped. But my volume lowers randomly also then goes back to normal.

Maybe your super loud is my normal . But yes basically it's the same issue. While on Google Play Music, we both get a low volume until a notification tone comes in then the volume goes up. I was thinking about rooting my phone and installing a kernel that supports Voodoo sound (I had this on my Epic 4G). I've never felt the need to root and run non-stock ROMs since the Note 2 has always been good enough for me in stock form.
I've managed to "trick" my phone by sending an email to myself which triggers the notification tone. But that's kind of nuts to do this on a regular basis. I've been listening to Soundcloud more often now since this issue in Google Play Music is kind of annoying.
Issue: Music will randomly play 10-20 secs of a song then skip to the next song. Sometimes will skip songs until I force close/clear cache and restart the app. Doesn't matter which music app - Youtube music, Spotify, Pandora, etc. Happens whether it's playing over bluetooth or not. Have uninstalled/reinstalled apps, no change. Have changed every bluetooth setting I can find. Basically done everything I can think of short of factory resetting.
Help
Mine randomly does the exact same thing. Super annoying....
It started after the Oreo update.
