S20 Ultra : Often when on phone call the screen turns on, resulting in ear/head pushing buttons on the screen.
Anyone else experiencing this annoying issue?
Thanks,

I had this on my Samsung Galaxy S10 plus.
It is a very nasty problem.
Unfortunately I didn't find how to fix it
These proximity sensors are really not very good. I had to teach myself to always press the power buttons while on a call just to have the screen protected from ear touches.
Well, the thing is that initially it DOES turn the screen off when calling / receiving a call, but i.e. a minute into the conversation in can turn on, creating problems. So turning the screen off with button would not help me here :-/ ....
No one else experiencing this??

Exactly the same as it was happening to me.
That is why I learnt to use the power button. Because once the screen lights up after sometime, it's already on lock screen and can't activate anything with your ear.

When the phone connects with a call, the screen blacks out.
I only want it to black out with the proximity sensor. I have to push the power button to turn on the screen.
Can someone please help me?
I have hard reset my device. nothing installed, running stock ATT rom and the screen still goes off when the call connects, then turns on when the call is ended.
the proximity sensor is not controlling the screen.
Anyone have any ideas???
SOLVED
I thought I would post the solution I found for this issue.
I removed the screen protector and cleaned the edge between the speaker and screen - that fixed it.
I am having problem with the call screen. I call someone and while I am talking the screen becomes off as usual while the phone near my ear but when I take phone away from my ear, the screen still stay off state and it does not change to on altough I press the power and all of the other buttons. But it does not happen all the time. Does/Did anyone have this problem? And who knows the solution?
Hi does anyone know how to make it so the screen turns on automatically when an incoming call comes? Right now, I have my phone on vibrate so I know an incoming call is coming, but I have to press the power button to see the screen and swipe to answer the call. Is there a way so the screen can come on automatically?
Also, is there a way to keep the screen black during the call, unless I press the power button? RIght now, when I'm talking to someone on speaker phone, the screen stays on or comes back on if I move the phone close to my face. Any suggestions are welcome.
Sounds like you have a problem with your proximity sensor...

Do you know how to fix that? I would like the screen to come on as soon as a call comes. Typically I have to wait for at least 2-3 rings.

What ROM are you on?
Im on the stock rom rooted.
My old Note 2 turned the screen of while a call was in progress but the Note 4 doesn't and I can't find a setting to make it happen. Anybody know if it's possible to get the screen turned off during calls- and if so, where do I find that setting?
Thanks!
It looks like that setting is now removed. Might be due to the fact Samsung is trying to market the phone to a wider market.
But you can turn off the screen with the power button.
Or if you have a flip case it will turn off the screen like how it does with proximity sensor. There was a proximity option in the note 2 as well they seem to have removed that too.
Thank you- appreciate the info! Wish they woulda left that stuff in but I will train myself to power the screen down now.
That is strange, my Note 4 shuts the screen off when I am on the phone..
Mine as well.. just tested.. called my phone and answered. While the call was active i put the phone to my ear and then pulled it away. When the pho e was withing 2 inches or so to my ear the screen shut off. When i pulled it away from my ear i could see the screen come back on. Tried multiple times with same result.
I never paid attention to this feature since I always had it with my previous phone and with the Note 4 it wasn't an issue for the first couple months. So it must've been activated but now it is not. Gotta find that mystery setting!
I find that if I have Bluetooth connected, the screen will not turn off in-call. But the screen will turn off in-call if my Bluetooth is not connected.

I changed nothing and the screen is locking now. I got no explanation for that.
I'm having the issue where my proximity sensor appears to just not be working.
I can lay the phone on a table and make a call out. The second I hit call the phone goes black. Take my hand away, nothing. The only way to bring the screen back up is to press the home or power button. Problem there is, the screen never blacks out. I can put my hand over the sensor, nothing. Unless I hit a button again.
My RN5P(IND),suffers from a problem that annoys me.
When I make calls or receive calls, the screen automatically shuts down and it wont turn back on again, even if you tap the screen, press the buttons present on the phone. You cant cut the call either. It happens 40% most of the time. Then after a moment only the screen lightens up.
What do I do and do others experience this?

May be it's due to a problem in Proximity sensor.
