light sensor problem?

i think my light sensor is messed up. when i make a call the screen immediately turns off as if its pressed against my face. and its almost impossible to get the screen to come on until the other person hangs up and ends the call. pressing the power button doesnt bring the screen on but sometimes the home button does bring the homescreen up but if i click on the dialpad the screen turns off again because it thinks its against my face. the way i get the screen on to make the dialpad to appear is turning on a light and holding the light sensor against it and the screen comes on. the samsung rom and the aosp roms do the same thing so its not rom related. but atleast the samsung rom had the option to turn the light sensor off for phone calls but i dont think the pacman rom has this option. does paranoid, aokp, or cyanogenmod have a feature for this so i can make phone calls, or is there any apps out there anyone can point me to to help me out? i think this will be the last samsung phone, to many problems. this is my 2nd note and it doesnt work now
anyone?

[Q] How to fix incoming call?

Hi does anyone know how to make it so the screen turns on automatically when an incoming call comes? Right now, I have my phone on vibrate so I know an incoming call is coming, but I have to press the power button to see the screen and swipe to answer the call. Is there a way so the screen can come on automatically?
Also, is there a way to keep the screen black during the call, unless I press the power button? RIght now, when I'm talking to someone on speaker phone, the screen stays on or comes back on if I move the phone close to my face. Any suggestions are welcome.
Sounds like you have a problem with your proximity sensor...

Do you know how to fix that? I would like the screen to come on as soon as a call comes. Typically I have to wait for at least 2-3 rings.

[Q] Accidentally putting calls on hold

I love the Note 5, but I keep accidentally putting calls on hold when using it in the "traditional" way - putting the phone to my ear.
I've discovered that somehow the screen is coming back to life while I talk - and I'm accidentally touching the "On Hold" virtual button on the call screen in the upper right corner.
I feel a bit stupid even posting this, but the Note 5 is my first Lollipop and phablet experience. I don't remember the "On Hold" button even showing up on my GSIV call screen. Could it be a proximity sensor issue?
Has anyone else experienced this and if so, is there a fix?
Yes, your proximity sensor may be defective. My screen stays off when I hold the phone to my ear.
As a mitigation, you could try keeping your fingers on the side of the phone, off the screen, and lower than where the hold button is; also, hold the phone at an angle, with only the top edge held against your ear.
I have the same problem...the proximity sensor is fine, screen does go blank when on call..but nearly every day, maybe due to angle I hold phone which makes it think I am not on the phone! It keeps going on hold. Any way to resolve? Or any workarounds people have done? Really annoying, sometimes happens 2-3 times on the same call!!!
I am having the same issue. Any fix for this?
Could glass screen protector be causing this?

Phone Call Problem!

My RN5P(IND),suffers from a problem that annoys me.
When I make calls or receive calls, the screen automatically shuts down and it wont turn back on again, even if you tap the screen, press the buttons present on the phone. You cant cut the call either. It happens 40% most of the time. Then after a moment only the screen lightens up.
What do I do and do others experience this?

May be it's due to a problem in Proximity sensor.

Screen turns on while on call - proximity?

S20 Ultra : Often when on phone call the screen turns on, resulting in ear/head pushing buttons on the screen.
Anyone else experiencing this annoying issue?
Thanks,
Inc

I had this on my Samsung Galaxy S10 plus.
It is a very nasty problem.
Unfortunately I didn't find how to fix it
These proximity sensors are really not very good. I had to teach myself to always press the power buttons while on a call just to have the screen protected from ear touches.
Well, the thing is that initially it DOES turn the screen off when calling / receiving a call, but i.e. a minute into the conversation in can turn on, creating problems. So turning the screen off with button would not help me here :-/ ....
No one else experiencing this??

Exactly the same as it was happening to me.
That is why I learnt to use the power button. Because once the screen lights up after sometime, it's already on lock screen and can't activate anything with your ear.
