Hi,
Every time I am in a phone call with somebody using the earpiece, they can hear themselves. My assumption is the speaker is too close to the microphone and there is no noise cancellation. Does anyone have a solution or experience the same issue?
Tia
Same here, but...
I have the same issue on redmi note 8 pro, and i confirm that it happens only with bluetooth headset (everyone i have, old ones, different brands, single earpiece, earbuds) and only for a few people.
When present, lowering the volume doesn't seem to affect much the issue.
I found an article that says it can have something to do with the "ok google" recognition, tried to switch it off and as soon as possible i will be making some tests.
But, i'm thinking it can also have something to do with the fact that recently my phone operator had a business merge with another, and as far as i remember, before of this i didn't notice any issue. (or maybe i simply didn't call anyone echonig with my earbuds on)
Anyways i'm staying tuned for possible solutions.
I've heard that update to miui 12 is coming soon and maybe it can solve the problem.

Hi guys, hope you can help with an odd problem...
Very, very occasionally (maybe 1 in 50 calls) I get an issue where I can't hear the other party, as if the earpiece was dead. If I drop the call and re-dial, 99% of the time everything is fine. (I think I had one time in 6 months where the 2nd call did the same.)
Now, I can't decide if this is a network issue (Vodafone) or a phone issue. I mostly use a Bluetooth headset due to the size of the Note but I doubt it's headset related as I have tried two different high end brands and it happens with either.
Things I have noticed:
Problem applies to incoming AND outgoing calls
I have checked I haven't accidently muted the call
My Bluetooth headsets all chime at the start of a call but there is no call audio
The other party can hear me but I can't hear them
System sounds are all fine, only call audio is affected
Switching between headset, phone and speaker phone make no difference
Applies to all incoming call audio, including ringing tones and busy tones
I reboot my phone sometimes but as the issue is rare I couldn't say if it makes a difference. Also this is a standard Note II (not a branded Vodafone one) with all the latest patches downloaded. Looking through my app downloads I can't see any obvious ones that might affect the phone. Apart from the stock Samsung apps I most connect to CCTV systems. I have CSipSimple but I haven't used it in ages.
Any suggestions on how to investigate this further?
Regards,
Andy
Seriously... no ideas?
So, no one's ever had this problem and no one has any ideas?!
:crying:
Hi friends,
Can you guys confirm that noise cancellation is inactive in OOS 3.2.7 stock, unrooted, locked or do I have an isolated issue?
Tinkering around on my phone OP3 in the engineering mode, I did an "echo test". When "Primary mic" is selected, the speaker echoes the taps or my light blows into the respective mic but no such thing happens when I try that with the secondary mic.
Is this a bug in engineering mode for the oneplus 3?
if yes, how can I test for noise cancellation else where?
if no, can I ask for replacement?
Thanks

I dont think its a hardware issue, most probably the mic is just fine. That is the reason why phones usually have dual, sometimes more, microphones to help with noise detection and cancellation, but Op3 still has problem with this mic recordings and noise cancellation. I think this is either due to coding and programming issue with audio threshold of recording or dismissing noise, or due to the fact that microphones do not coordinate together properly which may be due to poor placement of the mic on the back of the phone that can get blocked often. Im interested to see if someone solved this problem, since i have quite a lot of trouble with it, when i use speakerphone in whatsapp call many times i talk but the phone doesnt register it, or it registers it really really low volume. Im not having the same issue when i talk on the normal audio call mode.

Yes, people are saying that noise cancellation might not be working properly.
If that's the case, I'll just want to make sure my hardware is not at fault here since I can't hear anything from the secondary mic.
Can you please try the above in your phone's engineering mode to see if it works for you or not.
Thank you.
So here is the problem. I have tried talking to Google Support and also LG Support. Not under warranty anymore. I have heard several different people mention problems with their mics in calls, be it incoming or outgoing. I have done several things to try to fix this problem; flashing stock firmware and upgrading thru OTA's, clearing cache, rebooting every day, flashing custom roms, modifying the build.prop, opening the device and checking for physical damage. To my knowledge this phone has 3 microphones that are used for actual speaking and background noise reduction. When I opened the device everything looked ok on what I assumed were the mics (the tiny square bits soldered to the logic board at the top and the bottom). I assume these were just going bad and finally gave out on me. Has anyone had any experience getting these fixed or repaired? Is there any software based approach I can look into? I am really tired of using my speakerphone in every call. I assume I am not the only person with this problem.
If anyone can shed some light on this or help in anyway I would appreciate it
Thanks!
I would start by describing the mic issue you are experiencing during voice calls.
Haven't had any myself.
No one can hear me using the microphone, as soon as I switch to speakerphone the other party is able to hear me.
I've read mics can stop functioning if you try and clean the phone with compressed air. As far as fixing or replacing a mic I am unable to provide assistance.
Well rats. Hopefully someone can shed some light on getting this fixed. I do have some soldering experience but I don't even know how this translates via the logic board. Anyone that has more information the help would be awesome. Thank you for your time though previous posters.

I have this problem as well, but also all media volume can't be heard through the speakers. I've personally cleaned and replaced the unit and nothing works, I just have to choose speaker and start talking, else use a headset or a bluetooth mic
Same problem, no solution yet.
Think that is a software/driver/app combination bug.
When Iam in call hardly can anyone hear me, if I cover top mic - then im heard again (proof that bottom mic is working).
Top mic is used to cancel background noise, phone interpret your voice as background noise and volume it down. That way nobody can hear you.
When I cover top mic - no background noise detected and my voice is heard again.
Question is why top mic detect legit voice as background noise?
Same problem here. Can't use microphone normally on any sort of voice call. I have to change to speaker for people to be able to hear me. I'm not sure if I still have warranty so if it's a software problem I might be able to fix it by myself.
Hi there,
So i bought redmi note 5 global version which seems to be identical to note 5 pro. Problem is during skype calls and even phone calls the recipient can not hear me clearly most of the time. Sound becomes muffled and incomprehensible, person can hear me but can't make out what i am saying. It does not happen constantly, issue comes and goes. I am on 9.6.4 MIUI version.
Does anyone experience the same issue? Could it be firmware issue or charging pcb microphone issue. I don't feel like dealing with warranty since i have sensitive data on my phone, i spent ages setting everything up and it would probably take long time to get it back. I was thinking to replace microphone pcb myself since they can be purchased for 10 buckaroos and replacement it is easy and straightforward.
Does anyone have some insight into the problem or has dealt with it themselves.
Cheers
miui 10 is out
please upgrade and try
So i upgraded to MIUI 10 and issue persists, doing some reading it seems during voice call apps like skype top noise canceling mic goes bananas and messes up sound for recipient.
I feel changing bottom mic pcb won't do anything. There were posts about disabling noise canceling but for some reason those posts are taken down.
Does anyone know a fix other than throwing my phone against the wall. I need to use skype a lot, i've gotten used to my lil redmi, would be shame to buy smth else.

Have you tried this:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/re...gisk-fix-bad-camcorder-audio-quality-t3828711
It fixes the static background noise in recorded videos, but it might work in skype too
I have the same issues like Dzessi.
Mic is an garbage, unusable. Allmost all the time is not working properly, expecially in games or apps (voice chat) is low, high, diatorcions, radio white sharping noise, echo. I ve tryd everything on YouTube an papa Google, nothing solve it. I receive it in September as my bd gift, and I can't enjoy it, so frustrating I never write so many mesages on apps since I ve got an Java phone, nobody wants to voice chat anymore, (my brother recorded me and send me the voice message on whatsapp) well, I didn't voice chat whit me allsow in that horrible noise. If someone can help me solve this I ll be so happ. thanks in advance
I also have the same problem. Some say that some of you talk nice we do not hear you. Does anyone know the way to overcome it?
Hello, I have been having this problem with my previous s10+ and it has continued into my zfold3 so this is not specific to the zfold3 but it is where I am experiencing this issue currently.
So the problem is when I am in a call and someone texts me I get a barely audible notification sound that I almost never actually hear. I have gone into the in call settings and only see an option to turn on/off in call notifications but no customization such as what tone to use nor the volume. I also tested this with notification volume set to around 25% vs 100% and it goes from no audible sound at all to a ding that is barely hearable in a completely quiet setting, but once you are in an actual real world situation of talking to someone you will not hear it.
I talk on the phone while using headphones, specifically buds live editions. I include this info in case its relevant, but I have tested while not using the earbuds and had the same result so I don't the headphones are the problem.
Am I missing something in the settings somehow where I can actually have control of in call notifications? With my previous phone I dont remember having this issue early on. After at least a year of using the s10+ this issue started happening and I couldnt figure it out, got the new phone and purposely did not connect the transfer cable and set it up and transfered files manually to avoid potentially having a bad setting transfer over and continuing this problem. Yet the problem still continues regardless. My best guess is its something that started after a big UI update or something like that. Hoping someone can give me some insight or advice on fixing this cause its causing me a lot of strife.
