Face Unlock ROM options? - Google Pixel 2 XL Questions & Answers

I'm aware trusted face was taken from the 2XL with the Android 9 upgrade but are their any ROMs currently available that support or have face unlock?

Pixeldust Rom has added face unlock to their latest update recently. I'm on the rom and it works flawlessly with no problems.

Bliss and crdroid also have it. Colt will have it in their next update.
Not sure how long it'll last though, I guess Motorola is putting up a stink about it

Google have officially removed face unlock from Android Q - due to a security flaw.
From what I've heard, they're working on something, but it's gone right now
This thread as nothing to do in development forum

Pixel experience for nokia 8.1 (stable)

I think, we all know that Nokia ROMs are near to stock, but there are some features like, Always On Display, and Turn on battery saver based on routine, battery will last upto time in notification panel, etc.
These are some features we find in PixelExperience Roms.
I request anyone who can make a PE ROM for Nokia 8.1 device, we see Nokia 6.1 Plus, Nokia 7.1 and other Nokia phone's have PE ROMS.
Note: OEM Unlock, is now available in Developers Options, earlier it was not accessible.
TY.:good:
It's still not available. Without unique unlock key you can't unlock the bootloader
Haha... wouldn't it be great if the 7.2 roms also run on 8.1 ?
I hope Hikari can help us someday when updates are over (although.. I'm still on octobre 1).

Yea, Same here, OCT 1 Security patch, and surprisingly the NOV ended.
Nokia pushes updates a month after I have heard. So, let's see, we may get NOV update in DEC :silly:

Androind 12 ROM with face unlock?

Face unlock was removed for security reason by google. Old news BTW.

Question Why there's no face unlock on A12 AOSP based ROMS?

Hi everyone, out of curiosity, why there is no face unlock option on A12 AOSP roms? But on MIUI 13 has face unlock? Currently I'm using MIUI 13 by Xiaomi EU, and the main reason is face unlock and my sweaty hands.
Google Removed FaceUnlock i think in Android 10, you can ask your Rom maintainer to Implement it.
Pixel Experience 12 have added face unlock again, not every phone model has had an update for it though. I would say android 12 is still fairly new so i think performance and stability are priority for rom devs right now
Also, cDroid 12 have added face unlock

Question Downgrade?

Hello, am new to pixel device... My previous device was Xiaomi Mi 11 , my device carne with A13 !my question is there any way to downgrade to A12 I want to flash derfest A12 my fav ROM .. thx in advance
Hello, welcome to Pixel land.
First, in order to flash a factory image, you'd have to unlock your bootloader. If you don't know already, click the yellow How To Guide quick filter at the top of the list of threads in this section and you'll find 3-4 threads that tell how. I also have a link in my signature below - you can use the link for the Pixel 7 Pro - the instructions to unlock the bootloader are the same, and the OP of my Pixel 7 Pro thread is much better organized than my one for the Pixel 6 Pro, in my opinion.
After that, the only way you can downgrade (and have everything working, and not brick your phone is to use one of the two Android 12 Developer Support images for Pixel. There's an Android 12.0 build from February and an Android 12.1 build from July. They will never receive updates, however.
You can always manually flash a Pixel 6 Pro stable Factory Image to re-upgrade at a later date, or use the Official Google Android Flash Tool (OEM Unlocking needs to be toggled on - you may not have to manually unlock the bootloader - the "site" will do that on its own) to re-upgrade.
Any of the stable Android 12 builds at that factory image link should not be flashed because the Android 13 bootloader cannot be downgraded to an Android 12 bootloader, and if you flash everything from 12 Stable but the bootloader, it'll appear to work at first, but it truly won't work correctly - it will not be useable.
If you unlock the bootloader, you should also make sure the Android 13 bootloader is flashed to your inactive slot as well, to avoid the possibility of accidentally bricking your new phone.
Thanks for the fast reply sir much appreciated .. I got the idea ... My device stock unlocked and rooted .. now my question is if I flashed the July A12.1 developer ... Can I flash custom ROM based on A12.1 like derpfest etc ... Sorry I mixed up things here little harder than xiaomi

You're welcome. I don't fool around with custom ROMs except on my 6-year-old or more phones, so I can't answer that question. Part of the best things about having Pixels is the software features Google starts off exclusively on the Pixel stock ROMs.
