I have a rooted and bootloader unlocked Oneplus 3 running on stock kernel and Lineage OS 16.1.
Now there's Lineage OS 17 out there, before wiping doing and trying a new rom. The performance of PUBG on Lineage OS 16 was pathetic.
So anyone has the best recommendation ROM with settings that I need to do for a stable rom with good gaming performance.
And I read somewhere tweaking with the kernel settings is the way to go. I don't want to ruin my phone. Not a very tech savy person just read guides and do stuff to my phone. So overclocking GPU or CPU i think can be risky.
Anyways all suggestions are welcomed.

Hello Forum!! I am new to rooting and installing ROMS. I have a Samsung Vibrant with Team Whiskey's Bionix-V ROM. My question is what is a kernal and how does it impact the performance of my phone?

The kernel is pretty much the core of the os. Flashing different kernels can alter performance by allowing certain tweaks that the stock kernel may not i.e. overclocking the cpu etc
Probably not something you want to be doing if you are new to modding and dont understand it, try researching a bit first to get your head around it or you may damage your device without knowing.
Hi all, today I unlocked boot loader and rooted my nexus 7 2013 WiFi. At the moment I am sticking to stock ROM until I get more internet data from my ISP then I can flash a custom ROM.
Anyway what kernel would you recommended for stock KitKat 4.4.2 ROM in the mean time, or is it not worth changing and I'm better just waiting to flash custom ROM+kernel?
I was hoping for a more performance based one and would like to overclock both CPU and GPU, of course performance+battery contradict each other but if I could also have good-very good battery life and faster performance then even better.
Also what apps are you using for over clocking CPU/GPU?

Best ROM/kernel threads are frowned upon at XDA.
As far as overclocking app, I use Tasker. I use it for setting the kernel tunables also.

I use elementalx with stock. Great performance and battery life.
My base miui is too damn laggy, i wanna swap to a rom with more performance but im getting confused between onc and onclite and wether as to which rom to use.
my phone is Redmi 7 Onc (2gb+32Gb) (india)

Try all ROMs, read what others think about this ROMs, and choose ROM which is better for you
I used Crdroid for a while. I think it's the best ROM you can have on this device. Battery performance is too good. Really smooth ROM, You can toggle battery and performance mode for gaming.
However If you are more into mobile photography, I recommend you to stick with MIUI.
If you want to play games then Use CrDroid.
hey guys am a newbie amd little dumb i just bought redmi note 9 pro(curtana) to play genshin impact (was tricked by youtube all videos shows the game playable but for me its laggy af i need ur help picking up the best rom and kernel or just kernel to game (am planning to overclock) checked the corvus rom thread it seems they cut it off and has lots of problems for curtana welp plz
I played a lot of high graphics games on my note 9s curtana and had no problem with stock rom, everything runs smooth. I will try the game you mentioned, but I don't expect lags. Also since you're a newbie as you said, I'd recommend sticking to stock rom and not mess up your device if you don't know what you're doing.

it will lag i guarantee u that also its not just about gaming i also want to learn how to customize and all u know newbie now maybe cooking roms later on :3

Ye sure why not, I recommend learning what's root, bootloader, fastboot, adb, custom recovery, custom rom etc.. then jump into guides to unlock your bootloader, gain root access, get familiar with that and learn how to make full backup of your rom. After that learn how to flash roms and custom kernels. Step by step, but don't jump into flashing roms and kernels, you may risk bricking your device when you know nothing about fixing it.

If Q rom has its own custom kernels, you may flash another (stock) rom to get other (custom) kernels running.
If you want to keep your current rom and only optimize battery life, I recommend to install BetterBatteryStats app, record an idle dump and post it in the BBS thread (https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/app-2-2-05-oct-v2-4-betterbatterystats.1179809/)
There are some experts helping to analyze and giving advices how to optimize battery life on your device.
