So I notcied on the play store that the latest Motorola Camera app appears to have some functionality with our Moto 360 watch. The screen shots show that you can take a picture with the watch (I would presume that this simply tells the phone to take a picture since the watch does not have a built-in camera?).
but I have yet to figure out how to do this.
has anyone been able to, and how so?
thanks!
edit: nevermind, figured it out by unblocking the camera app
Attached youtube video.
It works when in hand but when on flat surface it goes haywire
Anyone have a fix for this issue?
What more info would it require to pin point what cause it?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qp1fiCPw1aA
Does the surface have a magnet anywhere, by any chance?
I got a new g4 and having the same problems.
Have you solved it?
What is the app name for the screen test used on the YouTube video?
Zohar
So just venting, but new Tmobile s4 wont register the Iris scan. It looks very badly out of focus and never adjusts to the eyes. Any others having this issue?
Same for me! But it registered my eyes before I put on a milky display protector with cutouts for the 3-4 sensors on top.
Don't know if this is the trigger for my problems, but I reseted my biometrics yesterday and can't get iris working again...
Any way to clear data for the biometrics app?
Works fine for me.

Been having this issue too... Just got my device today and Iris scanning doesn't work... Is the preview supposed to be blurry when trying to register? I haven't applied a screen protector or anything and nothing is installed on mine as far as I'm concerned
Dear All,
I would really appreciate if anyone could help me here.
I have issues with casting my phone screen to a display, let alone choose the advertised options like cast with screen off.
RN8PRO MIUI 11.0.2.0 (PGGEUXM)
When I am on that cast screen and tickle the cast button to the right, it just does nothing at all.
I have seen online people doing the same thing and then it opens a pop-up at bottom of the screen and start searching for display. For me it does not, it just stays there doing nothing.
If I leave that screen and come back it is again disabled.
So my simple question has anyone managed to cast anything using that built-in function?
I can cast using apps with cast-enabled function no issue, and yes I have Miracast enabled device, yet the built-in cast function seems completely broken -or- I have disabled a service it needs to work, idk.
With the app Wireless Display for MIUI I can workaround this and cast my display at the very least, however, I dont have access to any of the cast options advertised on the cast page.
The fact it does not open the small pop-up at bottom of the screen searching for devices makes me think I have some kind of problem, either permissions too restricted on something or some needed services disabled.
Please help if you can.
Regards.

Those two services are needed for casting to work:
Mi Connect Service (com.xiaomi.mi_connect_service)
UniPlay Service (com.milink.service)
So if you debloated your phone you need those two back on and running. If they are, search for remote display happens and remote displays are found as expected.

I have the same problem in note 5 pro and Poco. I read somewhere that mi uses Miracast and it doesn't support Chromecast. Sorry if I am mistaken.

Yes that's also the information I have.
However my problem described above also concerns casting to a Miracast device. The built-in method from settings just does not do anything for me, it does not search for anything at all actually. Therefore cannot find anything either
I am surprised not more people are using casting/mirroring features of their phones, RN8Pro being such a powerfull devices it makes a very nice handcomputer.
I wonder if that built-in function works for anyone.
Regards.
The Cast option does not work for me either.
I use the Wireless display option to cast to Chromecast.
Is there a difference between these two options?
I think I found the solution or at least the source of my own problem (took me enough time...).
As I was expecting I had debloated my phone a bit too much and removed some services needed for features I am using which at that time did not look like that needed for me.
Those two services are:
Mi Connect Service (com.xiaomi.mi_connect_service)
UniPlay Service (com.milink.service)
So if you debloated your phone you need those two back on and running. If they are, search for remote display happens and remote displays are found as expected.
Once you have reenabled those two services, the cast button is again available from the quick access and working.

I know that our phone is using the MiraCast technology which google has been removed from Chromecast (it was there before) and Android starting A9. Xiaomi keeps it in MIUI that's why we still have it.
However what I am uncertain of, is how MIUI is supporting Chromecast too? From what I read you can still mirror to a Chromecast if you are willing to use the Home app.
Myself now that I got some Amazon Fire TV stick, I prefer those a lot more for the same price compared to Chromecast, simply because you can mirror your screen without having to be connected to internet, one among many things that annoyed me on Chromecast. And they used Miracast technology.
Hope this helps.

Yeah I figured this finding would be probably useful to someone. Took me about 3 months to come up with the solution out of random tbh. Strangely none seemed to experience that issue judging by the number of answers I received in that time. And I am expecting people on XDA to debloat their phones out of the box like I did, maybe they were just more cautious than me and went a bit less aggressive on the matter. idk.
Anyway I am glad my findings could help you out too!
Regards.
I have Redmi Note 8 Pro and casting lags so badly... when I cast my laptop screen to my Philips TV.. there is NO problem at all.. But when I cast my phone's screen - huge lag and distorted picture....

It has been a while since I last attempted to solve this issue.
Last I was working on this, my researches has lead me to think the resolution of the phone which is quite big, might have been too big for casting receiver devices to process smoothly. Casting receivers do not have as big of a display resolution which often is 720p max or maybe lower for some.
As a result my investigations suggested me to try lower the phone display resolution before casting.
Unfortunately I am lacking time to test my theory and see if lowering phone resolution actually improves the playback on the casting device.
Please let us know of your findings if you decide to test those hypothesis yourself.
Good Luck!

I am sorry I have not had time to do some testings myself.
All I know and noticed was while casting from apps with built-in casting feature, it worked like a charm, however as soon as I started to mirror my screen, then it was lagging too.
Back then I assumed it was because of phone resolution vs casting devices because it was way bigger than casting receiver (usually at best 720p max and even 480p for older devices), but if you are saying it does not change anything well I am running out of ideas at the moment.
You changed both the resolution and the density of the screen using the following two commands?
Code:
begonia:/ $ wm size
Physical size: 1080x2340
begonia:/ $ wm density
Physical density: 440
Those are original RN8P resolution and density, they might be both too big for casting devices to handle, idk, might require testing.
Please let us know if your findings.

Can you try debloat this UniPlay Service (com.milink.service) and try whether you are able to cast remote display?
I have the same problem. Both services are active though. MIUI 13 on redmi note 10 pro
Hello! Not sure if this is the right place, but hopefully I can get some help.
I just bought an unlocked and rooted 5S, and while everything works just right, I am having an issue with Youtube videos playing in Landscape. The video orientation rotates to landscape, but the actual picture switches back to a sideways portrait view and stretches itself sideways (top of the video is on the left side of the phone, bottom of the video on the right side). I've troubleshooted almost every common solution but with no avail. The last possible solution I've read but haven't tried yet is updating the phone itself. However, because the phone is rooted, it wont let me update like any normal phone, and I cannot find any current firmware build online at the moment for the 5S model specifically.
My question then, is if it is possible that the Youtube app doesn't work right because the phone isn't up to date? And if so, is there a place where I can find the most recent 5S build? My phone's current rooted build is:
NX659J_ENCommon_V3.15
and for reference, when I try to update it normally, the build it tries to grab is:
NX659J_CNCommon_V6.18
Any insight into this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thank you in advance for any help!
Hello ... Can you upload the hardware file .. I lost the global update .. and my phone is now Chinese Room.
Thank you

I'm surprised you got it rooted without losing your in call sound. that seems to be an issue with the US encommon v8.07 rom. when rooted you lose sound in calls.
but you can flash the CN 5S rom v6.18 for the 5S it will wipe your phone and remove your root though. worth a test regardless.

I downloaded Vanced as well, but the problem still persisted. Found out that all my video playing app (Netflix, Crunchyroll), all had this weird problem...that's why I'm thinking it might be a firmware issue now instead of the app itself. Still testing though.
