Outlook in S20 keeps asking for fingerprint - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Questions &

Hi guys,
I have a client who's phone keeps asking for a Fingerprint/face unlock as regular to unlock the phone from a black screen (that is normal ok), and then when he opens Outlook it does the same again.
Does anyone know what this is? His old phone (S8) didn't have this issue.
He's using company email, MAM.

Either there's an option in settings for fingerprint login or some exchange permission forced on that email account if its work related.

Hi, my hotmail account got hacked recently and I have had to change all my details, however after trying to change them on my phone the account disapeared. I tried to add it again but now when I put the username and pass it and click next it logs onto windows live web mail, i dont want to have to faff about using webmail, i want to collect via outlook mobile. Can anyone direct me to a post where there is a fix for this?

apologies, please can we stick to the thread, please log this issue on a seperate thread as it isnt relevant to this issue.
thanks
try this, delete your hotmail account from your htc and then re add it. make sure you use these settings when prompted:
POP server: pop3.live.com
User name: Your Windows Live ID, for example [email protected]
Password: The password you usually use to sign in to Hotmail or Windows Live
SMTP server: smtp.live.com
Authentication required? Yes
might fix it...
not even there
There is no hot mail account there, it disapeared, Here is exectly what happens:
1. Click new account
2. insert username [email protected]
3. insert passwords
4. click next
usually here it downloads the setting for the account and the it asks if you want to add live account shortcuts to today screen, then downloads folders and then the account shows up in your list of accounts.
What happens instead is it opens opera and tries to log into what looks to be a live webpage, however the login details are simply a jpeg, it is really odd like some virus or something. I had this working before ok, i am not sure what has changed.
are you using windows mobile 6.5?
because if you are, in my experiences, the mail setup tool forces you to go to a website to check your mail. I havent used a 6.5 ROM that lets you use the inbuilt app.

I have the same problem and i'm using windows mobile 6.1.
in gmail it's all working perfect.
good to know
Hi, its good to know I am not the only one out there with this problem, i thought i was going mad, I amusing the latest stock romm with spb mobile shell 3, dont think that has anything to do with it though as I had it setup ok at one point. My NTL (virgin) pop works ok.
the reason?
This might be happening as winmo will only let you setup one hotmail account, someone on my phone the old account might be there even though it is not showing up as an account, therefore when you go thorugh the wizard it automatically forwards you to live webmail, this would make sense, does anyone know how to find out in the registry what acounts are setup?
go to this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=476603&highlight=hotmail
i had this problem before as well but just searching on the various forums you can pretty much find the answer for anything.
all you need to do is create a new email account (without using the automatic settings for hotmail) type in the pop3 settings and your done.
Updated
I had a similar problem when I first set-up the phone. I originally downloaded a fixed version from this site. More recently I downloaded the update available from the MS website.
Always downloads to the phone now.
Running version 10.6.0046.0800
good man
Good job that man, that worked, you simply put in a rubbish user and pass and click next, unclick automatically look for setting from the internet and then it allows you to set it up manually.
thanks for that.

How To disable unlock password?

Hi all,
When i have set up exchange emails i got prompted to enter an unlock password ( which pops up everytime i try to unlock the phone as well as the swipe to unlock)
is there any way to disable the password unlock and just keep the swipe to unlock? its quite frustrating having to hit the power button, slide to unlock then enter a password on top of it all..
lol how did u do it? i want to set up a password for the phone but duno how lol
it came up when i entered exchange settings for work emails - it said the domain or something of the sort needs a secure password for this mailbox..
try lockpicker, you can find it in the market. you have too enter a password because your company exchange server enforces it as a policy btw.

Thank you very much!! worked a treat!
Thx also from my side! Lockpicker, in addition, has brought back the lost-find details (my name address, etc.) which I have generated by using "Antivirus" (free) from the Market. They were not shown any more after the installation of Exchange. My phone is secured in addition by HTC's screenlock - that's sufficient protection, I think, and much easier than to enter a password.
cool info about LOCKPICKER, will have to try it out... did try TOUCHDOWN instead but did really like look&feel of it.
Just hope HTC exchange can handle multifolders outside of Inbox and even better can just show all UNREAD emails rather than having to flip between all the folders 1by1.

Froyo & Exchange - "Update Security Settings"

Hi,
i have Exchange setup & working. I get a notification each time I reboot the phone it says update security settings. If I click on it, it goes away & doeesnt bring any other information together.
Any ideas on what it wants? Its not terribly annoying but its strange.
Thanks,
Rich
I don't have an answer, but I do have a question??? Do you still need to enter a password every time you "un-lock" the phone??? I am currently running 2.1 but use LockPicker to get around this.
Hi,
I dont have to enter any codes into my phone. I have exchange set up twice on my phone.
The first time I set it up with the default app so my contacts will be populated & then I set it not to check my exchange again.
Then I use Touchdown for my exchange needs. It works great & I would assume it would bypass that issue. I like Touchdown better as it downloads subfolders (once selected) by default, so the email is always in sync.
Thx...I have Touchdown and will try that once 2.2 goes OTA.

That's caused by a setting on your Exchange server from what I've heard. Basically its an enterprise level security feature. Without hacking it, like you have been doing, its not going to change in the software update. If anything, Google will make it harder to get around it, since they are trying to get enterprises to adopt Android, so they need to keep these kinds of settings around.
Lockpicker does not work with 2.2, you will have to enter a code but you can adjust the time for that code entry to up to 15 minutes, if you use Touchdown you will have to enter the code everytime you go into the touchdown app. its not to bad entering the code every 15 minutes, the screen for the code entry is huge with a big dialer, not so much of a pain as entering the code before.
Hi,
I am using exchange 2007 & Touchdown. I dont have to ever put a code in. Is this due to my exchange being a hosted exchange service vs a work corp email?
Thanks,
Rich

it's a setting on the Exchange server. it just depends if the Exchange nerd was told to implement it or not.
I found this while searching to find a fix. I think that I figured it out though.
This is referring to the security settings for your phone and I believe that the Exchange server is set to require a password be entered on the phone to satisfy it's security requirements.
I turned on the pattern lock on my phone and haven't received the message again... Yet.
There's also an issue that I know of with Exchange Server 2010
If this setting has been enabled by the sysadmin;
Via EMC:
Microsoft Exchange
- Microsoft Exchange On-Premises
- Organization Configuration
- Client Access
- Exchange ActiveSync Mailbox Policies
Under Default policy, Device Password Required - Yes
Then your Exchange client on Froyo will bounce around asking you to press it's buttons every boot, and sometimes every time your network status changes!
EVEN IF this setting is reverted, there appears to be a bug where the security settings are still passed to the client device.
I've tested this myself and Ninpo [[email protected]] can verify.

[Q] Can't disable screenlock.

All of a sudden I can no longer disable my screenlock. I recently enabled it briefly during a week long trip out of the country (in case the phone got stolen or lost), but am now unable to disable it.
When I go to Settings->Security->Screenlock, it asks for my PIN, and then I am given the standard screen to "Select screen lock".
The options are as follows:
None (Grayed out)
Disabled by administrator, encryption policy, or credential storage.
Slide (Grayed out)
Disabled by administrator, encryption policy, or credential storage.
Face Unlock (Grayed out)
Disabled by administrator, encryption policy, or credential storage.
Pattern (Enabled)
PIN (Enabled)
Password (Enabled)
I have 3 gmail accounts, neither of them have any sort of device administrative features that I know of enabled.
Any ideas?

Check Security->devices administration if there is anything like an app or an account that is running like an administrator delete it and try again.
Also when i had problems with face unlock freezing and rebooting i just unistalled some apps and then it was working flawlessly.
Hope that helps.

The only thing there is Lookout, and it is not enabled.
EDIT: Uninstalled Lookout, still disabled
Do you have full device encryption or a work exchange account on the device?
Do you use a VPN connection?
No exchange accounts, only gmail accounts. I even removed all but my primary gmail account to see if it would make a difference.
I do have a VPN connection, but it is not active. (and pre-dated this problem)
Thanks for the suggestions so far

If you have VPN credentials stored, you are required to use a "secure" screen lock. Something may have glitched and not required it when you set up the account, but my guess is that is what is preventing you from disabling the screen lock.
Were you using the facial recognition unlock earlier? I think the system lets you slip by if you have that set before entering credentials, but won't let you choose it afterwards.
I had the same problem when i tried to setup an exchange email account and installed a certificate.
Fixed it by deleting all certificates.
Settings>Security>Clear credintials
It's probably not the "correct" answer but if you can't get it sorted out try the app "No Lock" which disables the lock screen. I used it for the longest time and it worked great.
Quick simple question.. Do you have the "lock screen when pressing power button" tickbox checked?

Thank you codesplice! I had the same problem today and your answer helped me solved the problem. The screenlock could be disabled right after I deleted the VPN account.

Removing my VPN connection solved the problem for me!
My 2 cents. I had the same issue today when i tried installing corporate email. The certificate had me setup a screen password encrypt my card and another bunch of things. Soon i got pissed off by the password prompt and decided to delete my mail account and rebooted. Guess what.. the credentials did not go. my password could not be disabled. I even tried clearing credentials in security but it did not help. I check device administrators and there was nothing.
So here's finally what solved the issue. The device administrator got deleted when i uninstalled the email account. So i re setup my account and then went back into the device administrators. Now i saw email app as a device admin. It has a check box which was enabled. i disabled it.. rebooted the mobile and cleared credetials again. Again reboot and was able to disable lock. Key was to disable the administrator while the app was installed.

Obviously the credentials are there for a purpose. So this is bad advice, unless you can explain why everybody can suddenly do without the credentials.

Yahoo mail requires sign-in everytime after updated to Kitkat

Hi there,
I have a Samsung S4 T-Mobile version with OTA updated to Android 4.4.2. After the update, the Yahoo mail app I installed asks for sign-in everytime when I restart the phone. It is very inconvenient to do that each time when I turn on the phone. Is there any way to fix this problem?
Thanks!

Is Yahoo added as an account in the main settings or the phone?
Go there and then recheck your account settings. Make sure the password and username are correct. I think if the phone has your wrong password or something, it would cause Yahoo to promot for a password.
That account info could have gotten screwed up during the update.

Thanks for the reply. Yes, I added my Yahoo account by going to Settings-Accounts-Add account-Yahoo. It works fine while the phone is on. As soon as I turn it off or restart it, the Yahoo mail app asks for sign in if I launch this app.
Is this just my phone or other people have the same issue as I do?
