Sync software for Windows Address Book (wab.exe) - LG G8 Questions & Answers

I am trying to SYNC my Windows Address Book (AKA wab.exe) with my LG G8 (an "unlocked" AT&T). N.B. In Windows 10 the Windows Address Book appears as a Contacts folder with multiple *.contact files inside it.
Coming from Sony Xperia phones and Samsung tablets I have always been able to sync between my PC and my device very easily using Sony/Samsung software.
I tried using the LG PC Suite, but it says, "Your mobile device is not supported by LG PC Suite," and doesn't appear to have an address book sync feature anyway. I then tried LG Bridge and the (older) LG Support Tool, but neither have an address book feature.
I know I can export the address book files and import them into other programs, but the fact of the matter is it's an imperfect, messy process and still doesn't allow me to sync between my PC and smartphone.
Any ideas - or little known software options - would be greatly appreciated. How are other LG G8 owners syncing their contacts with their Windows 10 PC?

It's a fairly dry topic I know, but I thought I'd update anyone who may be interested. I couldn't find a suitable software to sync between the Windows 10 Contacts folder and my LG G8, but I found exporting the Contacts as individual vCards, then transferring those files to my phone allowed me to import the vCards directly from within the LG Contacts section (Manage Contacts). Not as good as custom software, but very quick and easy to manually sync as required.

Window Mobile Device Center sync issue

I need help, I recently installed Windows 7 Professional on my desktop Pc. I then installed Windows Mobile Device Center and Microsoft Outlook so I can sync/backup my contacts. Well now when I try to sync my phone Windows Mobile Device Center gets an error. I tried to sync it with my laptop that is running Vista Ultimate and i get the same thing. I think I probably need to hard reset my phone but I can't because I don't have a backup of my contacts since I reformatted my desktop pc. Anyone know what the problem could be with my phone that's causing it not to sync? Or what is another useful tool to backup contacts. I have Microsoft My phone and it won't let me backup contacts cuz I already have it set to backup thru Outlook.
Are you running Outlook 2010 on a 64 bit operating system by chance? If so, the Mobile Device Center won't work. I was searching about this all morning.
D.
No i'm running Outlook 2007. I think it has something to do with the phone cuz I'm unable to sync it with Vista or Windows 7
Have you a gmail account?
If so set it up with Exchange to sync your contacts and calendar, then you can reset the phone
i have the exact same problem!
besides that, i see that when i sync, Office 2007 (and WMDC 6.1 on Windows 7) takes the contacts i have in hotmail, and the contacts i previously had on my phone, and adds them all together, and then syncs them to my phone.. this is killing me, everything i sync my phone i have a bunch of unsorted and unwanted email addresses in my "contacts" in the phone.
any solution for this? before i used to sync contacts with no problem, in Office i even had a seperate group for hotmail contacts and just my phone contacts.. now its only 1 group together, any idea how to separete them??

file <> cloud synching suggestions sought

Looking for a set up whereby I can synchronise a single Word Mobile file (or similar) on my TP2 with one on my PC, so I can edit it on one device, synchronise, then edit the revised version on my other device and visa versa.
I use Fumambol already for contacts, calendar, tasks and Notes but can not use Notes for this as I need some formatting (underline, bold) and in any case I've never discovered how to stop Notes scanning the phone, storage card and connected Networks for associated files before openning - which means it usually never does open before the phone hangs.
I know Funambol will sync 'briefcase' if you set up your own server rather than use theirs - but I want to be able to sync via a 'cloud' so both my devices don't have to be on at the same time.
Has anybody got any suggestions?

Contacts phone #, email, and details Sync across several devices

Hi all,
Just wondering what you guys use to keep your contacts in Sync with multiple devices (PalmOS, WM6x, Android)
Personally now I use Google Apps Contacts, however Google Contacts lacks some features and it doesn't sync fully some extra fields.
Before I started using Google Contacts, I was using a mix of several applications like SwitchSyncEX and other alikes.
so i was wondering if there are some sort of apps for Android that can do cross platform contact sync-ing keeping all the fields, instead of chopping off whatever it doesn't understand (Google Contacts)
i would like to know this as well as I'm in the same boat (palm desktop, outlook/wm 6.5, and soon to be android)
I keep my master copy of contacts in Mac OS X address book which syncs with Google Contacts which I then use from remote devices (iPhone, Android, whatever)
I keep hearing about Plaxo, no idea if it's any good or available for Android.
I've used GooSync earlier. It did the job, but then you are still dependant on Google Contacts, which seems to be where you're missing some features.

exactly!
i like google contacts, is great, but it's missing features i got used to since PalmOS and WinMobile
i keep using both my old HTC Athena and SGS i9000, so Google Contact is the best one out there at the moment, unfortunately those extra fields from Outlook doesn't get sync-ed over.
and or if i create them in Google, there is no way to map it back to Outlook.... it's a bummer
Try mIQLive.com
Had all my HD2 Contacts, etc., synced with Exchange Server. Go to above Site, Download & Install the App on your current Device.
You can then upload all Contacts; Calendar; Texts; Call Logs; Bookmarks; Photos & Videos onto their "Cloud" server
Then on the new or 2nd phone, Download & Install the App. Sign in using the same Credentials. The mIQ Cloud Server will then Sync all of the above items with your new Device
I've used this recently to Sync up both Windows and Android Phones. Runs in a very similar manner to Dropbox, if you're familar with that for File Sync across mutliple PC's
Two other nice little bonuses IMHO
a) As the mIQ app runs in the background on your Phone, it maintains a "Push" type connection with your phone (not too dissimilar to a connection to Exchange Server) This will then automatically Sync New Texts; Photos; Contacts and Call Logs onto the Cloud Server for access thru a PC
b) This same connection allows you to send & receive Texts on your PC Browser, with the phone remaining in your pocket the whole time. Very handy at times
I should emphasize that BOTH my HD2 and Galaxy have their "Master Sync" with Exchange and I haven't noticed any abbreviations on the Outlook Contact Fields to date. And I use Outlook Contacts extensively for adding extra Contact Info etc. Your mileage may vary though!!!!
Oh and by the way, this is Free. So, hard to beat the price!!!
but google does that already for free, why i'd switch to a paid service when it does the same thing?
1) First of all, the mIQ Service is FREE, so no harm to try it
2) Secondly, mIQ is a “Live, Constantly On” service, so any Contact Changes; Texts; Call Timer Logs; New Photos etc. Are automatically backed up to the cloud. Handy in the event of disaster. Gmail Backup is far more intermittent
3) Thirdly, Google does NOT offer Auto Backup of the following items (which mIQ does)
a) Call Timer Logs (handy for business logs, if that’s important to you)
b) Photos, Files & Videos Backup
c) Browser Bookmarks (as far as I know)
4) Fourthly, Google Sync does NOT allow the feature I described above, of being able to Send and Receive Texts from your Desktop, while your phone remains in your pocket
If you run two phones (as I do) it can be very handy to move from one phone to the other and know that a new Bookmark you may have added on one phone; or a Text you may have received is Automatically on the OTHER phone by the time you pick it up. All happens within 10 seconds or so
now that sounds much more interesting, i'll give that a go
You can also try syncfriend Also free
sync
I use funambol sync, 90 days free on WInmo and free on android.
So I made a sync on my winmo to the funambol server and then when I got the SGS I installed Funambal and synced the contacts back to my SGS.
For me it worked fine!

As far as WinMo 6x and android devices are concerned, no need to buy any third party app. This is what i do. The only pre condition is that your primary server should be gmail(google) not hotmail. Then all you got to do is add gmail server as exchange server in WinMo device. Thereafter both WinMo & android will always be in sync simultaneously.

[Q] How do I sync/merge contacts and calendar using windows phone 7 from two sources

Hi there,
I used to have a windows mobile 6.5 device. I sychronised over the air with exchange for work, contacts, calendar, email and notes and then at home via activesync and usb cable between the same phone and my home pc.
This meant that my phone, home and work machines had calendar and contacts in sync.
I have purchased a new Windows Phone 7 device.
For home I have configured the home outlook to sync with windows live. I have set the phone up to sycn with both windows live and with my work exchange account.
On my phone I can see contacts from either source (work exchange or home outlook) However this is displayed as being from the source accounts and will not merge/sync through to the other account.
I would like to (and used to be able to with 6.5) for example add a new contact in outlook, have it then sync to windows live (working) then sync to phone (working) then sync to exchange (not syncing contacts added elsewhere back to exchange). I would also like to be able to do the oposite (add something to exchange account and have it appear on home account via syncs.
Does anyone have some ideas, suggestions, solutions?
Please feel free to ask questions if I have not been clear.
from what i can see, you can link contacts but not merge them completely.
the only way i've been able to do it is to edit the contact details and save them to the appropriate account...but i wouldn't do it for all my contacts..
best bet would be to do it on the computer. can't you sync outlook to your work exchange and then sync your phone to outlook?
Hey there,
thanks for the response. unfortunately i can't sync home outlook direct to exchange, we have ip security for access.
It used to work a treat under win mo 6.5 this is a real backward step.
Any other ideas greatly appreciated.

[Q] Syncing Windows live contacts "Other phone number"

I just picked up a wp7 over the weekend.
I'm coming form an Android phone, so I had been using gmail to manage all my contacts. I decided to import my contacts into Windows Live so they would sync to my device. For some reason when importing from google, all my contacts cell phone numbers went into the "Other phone" field in Windows Live.
This wouldn't be a big deal, but it looks like windows phones don't sync this field from windows live. So all my contacts cell phone numbers won't sync to my phone.
Anyone else experienced this? Any way to make that field sync?
I know I could just delete all my contacts from Windows Live and sync my google contacts instead, but I'd rather not because then I'd lose all my messenger contacts.
Thanks
I should mention I've tried syncing both my google and windows live accounts to my phone (which does give me all the mobile numbers) but then I get duplicate info such as home phone numbers, emails, etc.
Any ideas?
I'll try to look into this when I get home for you. Do you, by chance, still have your Android device with the contacts still on it? Also, what carrier do you have?
I do still have the android phone with contacts. Is there a way to export those contacts?
I suppose I could go through all my windows live contacts and manually enter all the phone numbers into the correct field, but I'd like to avoid this...
I'm on Bell in Canada (Edit: might as well put that info in my profile)
i used this http://www.soocial.com/ and it seemed to sync properly.
you only need to use it once.
