Another post about heating - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Questions &

Hi guys. I've searched every post about heating problems but I have a question about S20/S20+.
When I use it for basic stuff like Facebook and whatsapp, my phone battery temperature gets 35c after a few minutes. If I open intensive cpu apps, it raises to 39, 40. I am using Ampere app to monitor.
Is that normal? Do I have to worry about it? I live in Brazil and ambient temperature inside my house is 27c.
Can you share your battery temp here after using the device for a while?

35c to 45c is well within the thermal limits of your device. Naturally if you live in a tropical area the ambient temperature is going to be higher and thus would have a negative impact on the device's temperature.

Just realized that if device hits 40c Celsius, it automatically turns off 120hz. Just happened with me. If I use camera for more than 15 minutes, it hits 40

That's normal. I'd be more worried if the device didn't do that automatically. Prolonged camera usage (esp 4k) causes a lot of devices to heat up regardless of the brand.

Is it Normal when Charging?

I have some issues, does this common or this is another HTC problem?
When I charged my HTC Battery and keep my HTC Desire ON.. my gadgets become warm, when I check use Battery Widget from HTC Corporation the temperature around 42.5' C
Is it normal? Anybody got this issues too? how to fix it?
What is your ambient temperature? I am charging the battery right now, it has 26C while the ambient temperature is 20C. However as the ambient temperature rises the delta is going to grow as the thermal runaway effect becomes more pronounced.
Mines 30C when it's lying in front of an open window while its 13C outside...
When charging I didn't reach 40C yet but this summer I will.
Also it depends where you put you're desire, I always lay it on my wallet to prevent scratches. This way it stays warmer than it would lying on my desk.
Nothing to worry about. If it reaches 50C call htc
The phone will get warmer when charging with the phone switched on.
There is in built protection against overheating so your phone will not be damaged.

Ambient temp is you're room temperature, or the temp of the thing you keep your desire in, for example in your pocket it will be a lot warmer than on your desk (cos your body gives of warmth)

[Q]The CPU temperature and battery voltages.

What are your average temperatures on your Desire? On standby mode, heavy usage (movies, gaming), charging and so on. I'm a bit worried about mine. It usually idles at 28-30 degrees C and gets up to 38 on heavy usage, maybe 39.
I also wanted to calibrate my phone using this method, but I never get passed 4182mV, a few months ago I was able to get 4197. The phone also seems to be pretty hot, even when it does nothing.
The battery usage is ok, I don't have any apps that are using the CPU in the background.
And I used an undervolted kernel, running at 875mV at 245MHz.
playing ROBODEFENSE for 20 minutes or more gets my desire very heated.
so much so that it shuts off
is there an app or similar that can show me the temp of the phone?
You can view the temp of the battery which can give you an indication.
If your phones are overheating, send them to HTC and they should get repaired.
I just checked and my phone idles at like 25c and I played RoboDefence for a whole level at lvl 100 and got 35c. To be honest, it felt warm and not hot. I've had it hotter than that but never had a reboot issue.

I seem to be getting the same temps, but I still have the mV issue. I can never go above 4182mV and I can't properly calibrate the battery. The phone also dies at 11-12%, when I bought it it was dieing at 0%.
Sometimes, the phone is charging and it shows 87-88% for some minutes, and suddenly it jumps to 100%, I guess that would be the loss of 12% when my phone turns off. I wiped battery stats when I was at 100% and no luck. I am using latest snq's kernel for leedroid ROM.
Maybe a naff battery?
Yeah agreed.it can get hot at times but if it rebooted better sent it for a check

the phone has to heat up especially when you play games that use a lot of cpu and gpu...
but idk is it normal to heat it to 45 and more... i think that 50 degrees is a MAX that may happen, and that reffers to battery heat? I mean its just going to shorten life of battery, extremely ... and about processor i think u dont have to worry... it can stand some heat ... i have read that temps went over 70,80 celsius on the phone, and they were still running fine. Of course its not recommended, as you can guess
I don't think that it will be a problem. I have my phone running that hot for four months already when charging, and when not plugged in it also easily reaches 40c. When I dial *#*#4636#*#* my battery health is still good. Also note that on the back of the battery it says that the max operating temperature is 60c.

Never looked at the back of the battery that closely, that clears my doubts.

whats your battery temperature?

guys, i need some feedback from you regarding your battery temperature. i feed like mine gets too hot on the replacement device - but i dont have the exact values from my previous unit. im talking idle temp (phone sitting with screen off on the desk for like half an hour at least) and screen on time with normal browsing/navigating usage and outside temps of around 25°C.
thanks a lot!

Exynos S20 starts dropping frames on 120Hz mode after prolonged use

So I've noticed that if i have the phone on 120Hz mode and use it for an hour, it will start dropping frames like crazy, scrolling becomes janky across every single app. I've also noticed that the temperature when this starts happening is 38 and above degrees Celsius. This doesn't seem to happen in 60Hz mode. I've tried everything from factory resetting, to wiping, to clearing the cache partition. Same problem after each time. Has anyone else noticed this (for example scrolling on Facebook)?
Exactly the same situation here at least when its plugged in and gaming some simple game it starts to lag / reduce many frames after 10 mins.
Crap Exynos 990. Don't worry, when your device hits 40c, it switches to 60hz. When it cools down, it gets back to 120hz.

I don't think it's a heat issue, I've seen it happen in temperatures below 40°C. What I think is happening here is that, most often than not, it does this below 15% battery, so it might be some stupid battery saving measure. Switching to 60Hz when this lag starts happening, you won't notice any stuttering. Also one time, when it started lagging, I plugged my phone in, and immediately it started keeping a steady 120Hz.
Did you guys try to activate the performance mode in battery consumption section in the parameters ?
It solved the issue for me.

This! This happened to me the other day, man, what a piece of garbage. I've found out all this things are wrong with the Exynos vs Snapdragon:
· worst performance overall
· worst battery
· can't mantain 120FPS if stressed enough
· worst photo quality except low light
