So I've noticed that if i have the phone on 120Hz mode and use it for an hour, it will start dropping frames like crazy, scrolling becomes janky across every single app. I've also noticed that the temperature when this starts happening is 38 and above degrees Celsius. This doesn't seem to happen in 60Hz mode. I've tried everything from factory resetting, to wiping, to clearing the cache partition. Same problem after each time. Has anyone else noticed this (for example scrolling on Facebook)?
Exactly the same situation here at least when its plugged in and gaming some simple game it starts to lag / reduce many frames after 10 mins.
Crap Exynos 990. Don't worry, when your device hits 40c, it switches to 60hz. When it cools down, it gets back to 120hz.

I don't think it's a heat issue, I've seen it happen in temperatures below 40°C. What I think is happening here is that, most often than not, it does this below 15% battery, so it might be some stupid battery saving measure. Switching to 60Hz when this lag starts happening, you won't notice any stuttering. Also one time, when it started lagging, I plugged my phone in, and immediately it started keeping a steady 120Hz.
Did you guys try to activate the performance mode in battery consumption section in the parameters ?
It solved the issue for me.

This! This happened to me the other day, man, what a piece of garbage. I've found out all this things are wrong with the Exynos vs Snapdragon:
· worst performance overall
· worst battery
· can't mantain 120FPS if stressed enough
· worst photo quality except low light

looks even when the charger is plugged, after 1 or 2 hours playing, the battery dead completely.
with light usage during day time, the battery can't last long than 3 hours. what's going on? i am using the froyo 2.2 on my tp2.
thanks guys.
nothngs wrong..its simple and common behaviour of android to drain battery fast even desire...
welcome to android rom
waoh, the reality is cruel.
thanks for the reply
It's not normal to drain that fast Maybe your screen doens't shut off completely. Check the faq for your answer
Do all the standard things to increase battery life. Turn off GPS, lower the screen brightness, don't have your apps updating so often.

thats more than likely the cpu since either you have it overclocked. but then again it also gets hot w/o it being overclocked but just takes longer for it to.
when playing need 4 speed shift today i noticed something interesting... its supposed to "prevent your phone from sleeping" obviously so gameplay is not interrupted with screen shut-offs. So when i was playing the first time my battery was prolly between 60~70% at work off the charger of course and screen stayed on without a hitch... when i was playing it again this evening battery was around ~40% at home off the charger and the screen would dim like if i was in the browser for instance then a few moments later shut off like normal... but when the phone is plugged into the charger it doesnt exhibit this behavior... With that being said, Im assuming wakelock only engages if the battery has x % remaining or higher or is charging? Anyone know where in the system files to find that value?
my Samsung S3 gets over 100 degrees when data is on and the battery starts to drain really fast and will drain even if it's plugged in. What do you think is wrong and how can I fix it? Thanks to all who answer.
I have already done everything from power saving to lowering screen brightness etc. Even when the screen is off, the same thing happens as long as data is on! Data is off and the phone cools down and everything is fine. This happens all the time.
After taking Marshmallow, I am finding my phone just randomly shuts off, like a full off, randomly when the phone is less than 10%.
Sometimes it does a full off at 7%, others at 4%.
It doesnt even say, "Powering down". Its just a blip and black screen.
It is random. It flipped off at 12% the other day. 5% earlier. I've done a full deplete and full charge several times to try and calibrate it, but no luck.
It could be this phone. I need to call and have it replaced tomorrow.

Just to let you know, I don't think it's your phone if you are on Marshmallow. Out of the million phones and software updates I have taken, I have never had a buggier phone than my G4 on Marshmallow! Factory resets, cache clean, research etc... Touch response, knock code, page loading, app loading seems to be much slower and not function near as well as lollipop.
I have also read somewhere about early shutdowns when battery is low.
To say the least I am disappointed in marshmallow on my G4.
Im getting the same thing usually at 4%.
battery life always seems to go 10-20% on every android update I've taken since my galaxy nexus. Its kind of getting annoying.
Im probably going to do a factory reset soon.
2 hours of screen on time is just terrible.
Yea when I first got my G4, I had battery for days. Like 30% at bedtime after playing on it all day. Now its dead at 4pm and I barely use it.
Good to know there is a weird battery bug. Before it would go through a power down screen and gracefully shut down.
Hi guys. I've searched every post about heating problems but I have a question about S20/S20+.
When I use it for basic stuff like Facebook and whatsapp, my phone battery temperature gets 35c after a few minutes. If I open intensive cpu apps, it raises to 39, 40. I am using Ampere app to monitor.
Is that normal? Do I have to worry about it? I live in Brazil and ambient temperature inside my house is 27c.
Can you share your battery temp here after using the device for a while?
35c to 45c is well within the thermal limits of your device. Naturally if you live in a tropical area the ambient temperature is going to be higher and thus would have a negative impact on the device's temperature.

Just realized that if device hits 40c Celsius, it automatically turns off 120hz. Just happened with me. If I use camera for more than 15 minutes, it hits 40

That's normal. I'd be more worried if the device didn't do that automatically. Prolonged camera usage (esp 4k) causes a lot of devices to heat up regardless of the brand.
