Hi,
I am using Gboard, and had everything perfectly working until recently when I had the annoying black pad underneath the keyboard back. I tried to check and uncheck the (show button to hide keyboard) option in the navigation bar but with no luck. I am using no navigation bar, only gestures to enjoy the full-screen experience. Does anyone have the same issue? any solutions?
P.s. This issue wasn't present with Android 9. It started to happen after Android 10 update

Hey all,
I've been loving my Gnex so far, but for the last few days, I've had issues where the keyboard won't enter text. I'm able to interact with my keyboard (using Swype or the stock) and the word selects and appears to be working correctly, but the text is never entered.
Furthermore, when this happens, I'm then unable to switch keyboards using the notification drop-down bar, nor will the clock update. That's right. The clock stops working in the notification bar.
I've done a google search and found a similar thread on Android Central but no resolution there either.
Any ideas?
Factory reset? Or try to clear data for the app that is affected.

I've been using an old Palm bluetooth keyboard with my android devices since switching from a Palm device several years ago. I just recently purchased a BT keyboard specifically designed for the Note 10.1 2014 and from first connection noticed this bar that pops up at the bottom of the screen whenever the keyboard is in use. The little button with the "^" in the corner doesn't seem to do anything. Not sure what it's for. Is this something that normally happens with BT keyboards and I haven't encountered it because I've been using an older Palm BT keyboard?
Looks like a placeholder for a nav bar, which the note don't need, or ads. Ad blockers which work with non-rooted devices produce such empty placeholders.
I'm not running any ad blocker (even though my device is rooted), but this only shows up when I first connect the BT keyboard??? Weird stuff.
Well, the black bar still persists except that I figure out a workaround to get rid of it. It's just a matter of connection order. I have to turn on the keyboard first, then turn on BT on the tablet, go to a text field and when the onscreen keyboard pops up just press the spacebar and on the external keyboard and I'm good to go -- no black bar and a completely functional external keyboard.

this didnt work, did you end up figuring oout whwat causes this? im usung a galaxy note pro 12.2
I did not figure out any other way to avoid it happening other than the work-around I mentioned. I believe it's the auto-spelling-correct or maybe the auto-complete, but don't know for sure.
I have the same problem on my note 12.2. Simple install "External Keyboard Helper" from Play Store and enable the on screen keyboard and choose "External Keyboard Helper" if you will be asked. Now your BT keyboard is a soft-Keyboard and no black bar was seen again.
for now few days, the capacitive buttons (back, home, recent apps) in my htc one x stopped working whereas rest of the screen is working fine. I was on custom rom android revolution hd at that time. while i was looking for a solution, i came across a custom rom namely resurrection remix and i installed that rom. it gave me an option of navigation bar. It enabled that bar just above the capacity buttons which started working fine and i was just happy that it gave a solution to the problem. But suddenly after 10 days or so, the navigation bar stopped working also like capacitive buttons. no response at all. i did everything, cleared cache, wipe data factory reset and then changed rom to another rom called beanstalk which also had option of navigation bar but the navigation bar of beanstalk also did not work. but when I rotate the screen to landscape of my phone, the navigation bar also rotates and starts working fine. In other words, in custom rom like resurrection remix, beanstalk rom, it does not work in portrait mode but on rotating the screen the bar rotates also and works fine. Where could be the problem? How can navigation bar stop working in portrait mode only. please help.
It must be a hardware problem with your digitizer which is controlled in zones. Replace the digitizer.
I have just installed Poweramp onto my new android hu. What I discovered is that there is no settings icon anywhere on the display. Evidently the icon should be in the upper right corner but it isn't. Then I discovered that the settings buttons are missing on several other applications I installed. Again, the icons should all appear in the upper right corner.
My Android is a AC82XX with kitkat 4.4 (4.2) and a 9" display. It has no physical buttons. Has anyone else experienced this problem or found a solution?
I have Samsung Galaxy S5 Model 900T (klte)
Lineage OS 14.1 November 23, 2017
API Level Guava (7)
Security Patch Level Novembefr 6, 2017
Baseband Version: G900TUCU1GQC2
Kernel Version 3.4.113-lineageos-g746d931
Build Number: lineage_klte-userdebug 7.1.2 NJH47F-c26202ea25
The phone randomly switches to the split screen mode, usually when I am opening apps or using them (eg. ES File Explorer, Blue Mail, Google Search, Cloud Library, IHeart Radio app). I hear a short vibration, then the phone switches into split screen mode.
I have tried an app called MultiWindow Toggle but this does not solve the problem.
I have tried to switch the function of the short press of the recent button to no action and the long press of the recent button to recent apps switcher, but this makes the phone switch to the recent apps switcher.
I don't know if this is a hardware issue or a software issue, and if the latter, is it the os or some of the apps? Does any one have any guidance for how to solve this issue? It is very intrusive, and I really like the Lineage OS.
Thanks for any help that can be offered.
Sounds like a Hardware issue. Can you deactivate the button and activate software nav bar?

I managed to modify the file named build.prop using some instructions I found online. It did activate the software nav bar. I expected it to disable the hardware buttons, but it did not. I still had the same problem.
I had to go into the settings for lineage and set the "recents" button to do nothing on short press and nothing on long press. The leftmost button on the nav bar now does nothing as well. The phone still vibrates a short blast randomly, but does not switch. The right most button on the software nav bar the one with the rectangle face, that one activates the task switcher now. The rightmost hardware button still acts as a "back" button, I want that function so I will leave it as is. I can live with that. I don't know a way to activate the split screen in this configuration, but I can live with that as well. Both the hardware home button and the center button on the software nav bar do the same thing now. I would like to be able to program the nav bar to do what I want it to do, is there a way to do that. If not, I can live with this.
Thanks for your help.
