I've been loving my Gnex so far, but for the last few days, I've had issues where the keyboard won't enter text. I'm able to interact with my keyboard (using Swype or the stock) and the word selects and appears to be working correctly, but the text is never entered.
Furthermore, when this happens, I'm then unable to switch keyboards using the notification drop-down bar, nor will the clock update. That's right. The clock stops working in the notification bar.
I've done a google search and found a similar thread on Android Central but no resolution there either.
Any ideas?
Factory reset? Or try to clear data for the app that is affected.

I have recently upgraded my DHD to 2.3.3 and everything seems to work just fine except for one thing.
In the dialer, the area above the buttons usually show my recent call list and if I press any numbers it shows quick contacts lookup.
After the upgrade however, this area is blank. I played a bit around with the dialer and noticed that if I press a few numbers and then delete them again, the blank area is suddently showing the contacts list again (as it is supposed to). After that it works as it normally would in the dialer.
I talked to a few others which have similar problems but we havent been able to pinpoint a pattern for why this happens.
Anyone inhere have the same problem and more importantly - anyone that knows how to fix this?
I did a normal upgrade without factory reset - one of the other guys with the problem did a factory reset as well.
If you are using a non-stock launcher (ADW / LauncherPro etc...) you must delete the shortcut from your homescreen or dock, and re-add it. Also, if you launch phone from the app drawer, it should appear normal.
How did you work that out? Very impressed! Been bugging me for days.

I'm getting a flashing issue on Handcent SMS when pulling up the keyboard to send a new message. It's predominantly on the BLACK theme (main handcent window -> menu -> settings -> custom style -> theme -> black). Basically, what happens is I go into a new or existing message and go to type a message (which pulls up the keyboard) and when it squishes the text window and opens the keyboard, I get flashing above the keyboard where the message is still displayed. It shows the keyboard, sometimes parts of the handcent window, sometimes it scrambles what's shown, but in all cases the REST of the display shows perfectly fine.
This happened relatively recently. It seems to happen with the popup notifications as well. However, using the light theme or any other app works fine. I'm at a loss. I've factory reset, reinstalled handcent and it still does it, I reverted to a previous known working nightly, no change their either. I re-installed CM10 nightly 10-17, but there's no change there either.
Everything between the two red lines gets the flicker when I load the keyboard. When I close the keyboard handcent expands to fill the whole screen except the notification area. When this happens I get a flicker across the whole screen except the notification area and the "Message" area shown in the screenshot (when the app stretches and fills the spot there the keyboard was).

An update; going landscape does the same thing, even with the keyboard not up (just having handcent with an open thread go landscape - the main screen doesn't do it)
Another update,
Wiping data, dalvik, cache, and system and installing another ROM and the issue continues to occur. I'm downloading the Blazer ROM to see if it happens there, however I tried it on my friends T-Mobile GS3 without issue.
I changed the skin to another dark one (it looks awful compared to their stock one, but what can you do) and it has no issues. Seems to be directly related to that one theme..
I've searched everywhere for a solution to this problem, but I can't even find where anyone else is having this problem.
When I press the microphone to speak a text message in the stock messaging app, the microphone icon stays grey. Usually I have to close the keyboard and press the microphone icon 3 times before it works. This is also present from time to time using the swipe-up Google search. Stock ROM, unlocked and rooted. Any ideas?
Hello! Just got the unlock version a couple days ago and I am using lightning launcher; it is awesome. My issue is with call and text notifications, how do I make the fire phone display that I have a new call/text or missed a call on the status bar. This is really frustrating, hope someone can help me.
I don't think this is possible without replacing the systemui file. The only other option would be to use omega status bar, or super status bar, which are basically status bar overlays.
So I did install omega status bar but it still wont show call or text notifications in the status bar. Can you tell me how to set it up? Even the app icon itself is not even showing that I have recieved a call or text.
I think you will benefit from reading the tips and tricks thread that's created. Member jondecker76 and myself branch out on a lot of helpful tips to use this as a daily device.

Solution- Notifications - I've toggled all the options regarding notifications in the settings. My original complaint still exists. This was a HUGE set back for me with this device. Luckily, with a lot of trial and error, I found an app that works well for me. It's call NotifierPro Free. I configured it so a bar drops down and stays under the status bar. I also configured it so these notifications remain until I swipe them away. This has been a HUGE help in allowing me to adapt to this device.

Very often the notifications are reported with sound and vibration but when i wake up the phone i can't see the notification on the lockscreen and there is also no notification in the status bar at the top. I can see the notification only with the scroll down of the status bar. I've noticed that if you go in the notification menù and enable or disable "allow notification indicators", the notification symbol will magically appear in the status bar.
I've tried to send a feedback, through the appropriate item in the menu, but i haven't receive answer...
Note: I installed the January patches but nothing has changed
i've tried to change all the notification settings and i've tried also a factory reset but without success (for two days, after the factory reset the Pixel haven't lost a single notification but yesterday the problems was reappeared).

I have this issue only with WhatsApp and not all the time. Occasionally I receive a message and my phone makes the sound as well as vibrates however nothing appears on the status bar or on the lock screen. I see the notification dot on the WhatsApp icon itself and if I open the app, it shows there's a new message. All other apps are working absolutely fine so I thought it's just a bug with WhatsApp.

Hi matekaneve and thanks a lot for have answered to me
So do you think that is only a problem with WhatsApp?
I've tried to install also the newer beta versions of WhatsApp but the bug, always in random way, continue to appear...
But i'm really happy if the cause of the bug is only WhatsApp and not the Pixel 2 XL
