SM-988B/DS-How to activate esim menu? - Samsung Galaxy S20 / S20+ / S20 Ultra Questions &

Hi everyone,
I am in Israel with an S20 Ultra model SM-988B/DS LTE only (no 5G model here).
E-Sim is not an option in my country so no such option in the menu (see screenshot),
But I am often travelling to US and Europe where I can use esim.
My question is how can to I add the e-sim menu in my S20 Ultra?
Thanks for your help and answers.

And you didn't have esim menu when you open the phone for the first time?
Perhaps because esim is not a available in my country...

the eSIM menu should appear just below the the "Normal" sim menu, and it should say (+add plan), which I cannot see in your picture, Regardless of your country SM-988B/DS should have the menu, may be you can contact support!

Agree with you.
I know where I am supposed to see it.
When I contact my local support the answer is just a stupid one like :'' No esim in the country so no esim menu, perhaps in a future update when the service will be available in the country "
I don't want to use it the country! I want to use it abroad and that's why I need to find a way to activate this menu

sorry as this is a bit off topic, your firmware, does it it have the spam caller feature activated?
also does it allow specific finger print to unlock secure folder?
i have an ultra s20, the same exact model as you have, but these features are missing
ive used a note 10 plus with the ILO [israel firmware] and they have these features,
if yours have these features activated, please point me where to download from.

thank you

I have the same model, I changed the CSC to BTU to use eSIM. I used SamKey to change CSC.

eSIM is only available on some models for now, the other ones will get it later trough an update.
If you want the eSIM menu without having to wait for an update you can flash a CSC rom that has the eSIM by default

Can you please provide instructions how to flash CSC rom? Also, is there any way to add 5G support in the same way?
Thanks

[Q] Language options

Ok, just got my HOX and 1st thing I noticed is that as soon as I switched on, I had to choose language but only options are some Asian languages and English with countries like (Pakistan, Thailand, Indonesia, etc.) No English (UK, US, etc.)
Was yours like that also? maybe it's because I haven't inserted the SIM card yet?

Go to Settings, Application, All. Find Customization Settings Provider. Choose force stop, then disable the process. Nevermind with the notifications.
Now run the Setup again, all the languages available will be shown.

You need to make the trick again if you do a hard reset. The phone sets the region and languages while reading it's CID.
The CID determines which languages will be shown on the first setup.

Isn't the CID on my SIM card? (and so it should show languages from my regios?) or is it on the phone? maybe because I bought from Simply Electronics and they sent from Hong Kong?

Nope, the CID is in the phone's softwer.
You can check it using CID Getter from GooglePlay.

[Q] Clone Galaxy Note 2

recently i bought a clone galaxy note 2 from bangkok. its not supporting for 3g so when i asked from my carier they said to update the firmware.. up to now i dont know how to update the firmware. any one knows how ? samsung kies is not recognizing the device. help meeeeee
Seriously? Are you that stupid dude? You do know what "clone" means don't you? Why would you expect updates/compatibility with kies etc if you have the clone? If everything works well flawlessly, are we nuts to pay 600$ to Samsung?
This topic made my day. However I will try to help, firstly only one sim slot in your clone will have 3g/wcdma support, and even then it probably only supports a couple of bands. Finally you also need the correct apn settings.
Sent from my GT-N7105 using xda app-developers app
Hehe copies, I love them sadly as Samsung kies reads your device information it will recognize that it's not an official phone. Also the firmware is probably not from Samsung as well. As it's a copy it will probably never have official firmware. Sorry but I have to say that kies won't help you.

In setting look for mobile network setting and Network mode.
If network Mode have option for GSM only/WCDMA only/Auto then select 'Auto'
If you don't have WCDMA option under network mode, just forget 3G on this device.

Call recording on S20 phones

Hi,
Has anyone managed to get call recording to work on any of the S20 phones?
Many of the call recording apps don't work, but I read somewhere that if you root the phone you can get it to record.
Another website mentions changing the CSC to one of the countries that allow call recording, for example Thailand. Apparently there is a built-in recorder in those countries' S20 phones.
Is there any way to get it to record?
Thanks!
S20+ in Thailand does have built-in voice recorder. Works as intended.

Can we change the CSC to enable this, by installing a Thai Sim or updating to a specific Firmware?
I ordered my S20+ from Vodafone Germany and also ordered a Thai Travel Sim to try this since it apparently worked on other Galaxy Phones in the past.
I hope I can configure the Phone without a Sim to order the Galaxy Buds+ (free for Preorders but has to be ordered through an App on the Phone, so I suspect it must know it's German at this stage) and change to Thai after before it gets 'locked'.
Call Recording is a crucial feature for me.

No, changing of sim card trick is not working anymore, I tried already.
call recording option
Indonesia-XID firmware has call recoding
but sadly once u change your CSC to a different country, for example thailand, you'll be gifted with thai related apps.. on my previous phone i just edit the CSC to enable native android call recording.
but you will need root for this.

Exactly, but you gain some and you loose some. If someone preffer call recording, main option you loose is Samsung Pay, other apps work fine. It's just the preferences. I would like to have call recording, i can secrifice Samsung Pay
Rooting phone is different ball game alltogether. I dont think rooting is worth enough. you dont acheive mush with rooting now a days, (Just my openion)
But i would really look forward to change CSC on my phone, and waiting eagerly for a work around
So I now have my phone (S20+ 5G - SM-G986B) and was looking to change the CSC...
Out of the Box, the Thai Sim did little to nothing. Obviously Samsung recognized the region, since Ts&Cs / Samsung Member confirmation was in Thai (even though I set it to my region), but nothing as far as CSC or Call Recording are concerned.
Did I see correctly that there isn't even a THL Firmware for this model?
Any suggestions?
Thanks!

Doesn't work for me. It does record calls, but apparently converts to a wrong Sample Rate as it plays back multiple times (5.5) faster than it was recorded.

Technically the released Multi-Roms: There's definitely an OXM including THL for SM-G985F (S20+ 4G) - just not for the 5G model. Maybe I should have saved €100 for the 5G that I can't use in my Region anyway. Thought I would future-proof.
Thats the only CSC phone info app can see. Well I start to regret buying 5G version....[emoji3]View attachment 4969795
All "international exynos versions have call recording built-in into the software. To enable it, the right flag should be enabled in the cscfeature.xml file (you need root for that, unencrypt the file, modify it and overwrite it back again).
However I'm not sure if you can write to that product partition anymore, on the S20s (we cannot write to system directly anymore). Worst case scenario, a Magisk module could do it.
I'll try it now on my S20+ 5G (intl) and report back ??

So did you manage to root it already? :good:
Please keep my posted, I am eagerly waiting for it.
Currently on a rooted Huawei P20 Pro, I have my S20+ 5G laying on my desk unused, since I assume I'll need to wipe and flash it anyway (either during bootloader unlock or CSC Change) to achieve recording.
Recording truly is a showstopper / knock-out criteria to me.
If I cannot do it, I will have to return the phone.
Frankly, the improvements over my current phone are way too minor to justify the price of admission anyway.

Question VoLTE LE2120 OS 11.2.6.6.LE15BA

Hi all,
Unfortunately in my 9 pro the VoLTE for italian operator does not work (I'm testing with Ho mobile and Very mobile)
Have you been successful with this?
Regards
Federico
Hi @FRED1979IT
If your device is a china version imported to your europeean country, that can be the root of the issue. Many Aliexpress or Rakuten seller aren't clear about all of that, and I know you can buy devices way cheaper using those sellers but it can have some facebacks you certainly encounter rn. You should have a LE2123. O+ 8T and other O+ devices had that issue where 4G/5G frequency channel support are trully different from China to EU version. Here in France, four 4G channels were missing and some 5G too. unfortunately, flashing to EU ROM will not make those frequencies support back.
That's why I've decided to buy mine O+ Pro through Oplus official french store, just to be sure to have the best carrier coverture.
After that, check in your parameters/ SIM parameters and network then select the correct SIM card (1/2) and check if VoLTE is active.
By default, OOs doesn't display VoLTE icon in the upper status bar. You have to go to parameters, Display, Status bar Icon manager and check VoLTE there.
You may have a look of some threads here too like this one : https://forum.xda-developers.com/t/...wifi-using-pdc-no-root.4270327/#post-84967789 that may be helpful
Thanks for the reply @Fre$h I need to know if the limit of my device is hardware or software to using the VoLTE.

It is not Hardware, it is software but its locked in root directory, there is a way that unlocks all the bands for different versions also.
The status bar displays volte/wowifi but disappears again after 1-2 days.

This forces the VOLTE and VOWIFI to turn on and work but doesn't unlock all 5g Bands. But you might not need all 5g bands though.. at least for me in Albania its not needed and wont be needed for some years.
