[Q] Language options - HTC One X

Ok, just got my HOX and 1st thing I noticed is that as soon as I switched on, I had to choose language but only options are some Asian languages and English with countries like (Pakistan, Thailand, Indonesia, etc.) No English (UK, US, etc.)
Was yours like that also? maybe it's because I haven't inserted the SIM card yet?

Go to Settings, Application, All. Find Customization Settings Provider. Choose force stop, then disable the process. Nevermind with the notifications.
Now run the Setup again, all the languages available will be shown.
Hope this will help...

Thanks, that worked but then I factory reset with my SIM inserted and ran setup again but still only those languages were available. Why does this happen?

You need to make the trick again if you do a hard reset. The phone sets the region and languages while reading it's CID.
The CID determines which languages will be shown on the first setup.

Isn't the CID on my SIM card? (and so it should show languages from my regios?) or is it on the phone? maybe because I bought from Simply Electronics and they sent from Hong Kong?

[Q]Change number format?

I am using the Official Korean 2.2 Froyo rom and it is awesome sauce. I have deodexed it, zipaligned, resigned and themed it. Running great however...
One minor cosmetic issue i have is how the phone numbers are displayed. I prefer the format 07xxxxxxxxx however in this the numbers are shown as 07x-xxx-xxxxx. I hate it...any way to change it?
I have even tried taking related contacts files from a UK Froyo rom but it never changed...it only removed the Korean characters form dial pad.
If you are using English (US) locale, change to English (UK) or others.

I think the Korean SBF only have US English and Korean language to choose.

Yeah no UK English. I tried morelocale 2 to set UK but no luck...

Cant change to UK locale on 2.3 HTC Rom.

I have run the HTC development ruu on my unbranded desire and I can't change the locale to UK. It shows on date and time that I am in the correct time zone but under languages and keyboard its still set to English US. Is there any way of changing this?
Now that you mention it I remember that before installing the Scandinavian keyboard and the Swedish dictionary from the market, the default keyboard AND dictionary was US English.
I didn´t pay too much attention because there are no Scandinavian keyboards in the earlier versions and so I always install this from market. The difference is that in Froyo there was at least a Swedish dictionary, even if it was a bit rudimentary.
Perhaps this is one of the things cut down to save space. There must be some keyboards and dictionaries you can install from the market I suppose.
The problem that i have is weird, i am set to UK time and location but for some reason as the language is set too US English i cant access the UK Android Market or the UK Amazon MP3 market. I would have thought that as my location was set to UK i would get UK based stores/apps?
Does anyone know how i would go about changing it to UK?
Any help is much appreciated.
Try morelocale 2 free from market

Hi - hope you're still getting notifications of this, but can you confirm that sorted out your issues with the UK Android Market? I've just done pretty much the same thing with the Gingerbread update and noticed it didn't have English (United Kingdom) so Play Store is saying some apps can't be installed in my country, when they were installed fine before flashing.
Thanks

system language - no spanish language on german HOX

I bought my HOX in Germany, but i´m thinking of selling it in Spain.
Now i found out that i can´t set the system language to spanish. Isn´t that weird?
My iphone i could set to over 20 languages...
Do i miss something?

Try a small app from market 'MoreLocale 2'. It should show more languages for your device. It is here:

Go to Settings, Application, All, find Customization Settings Provider. Tap force stop and disable. Run the Setup menu again, you will find all the missing languages there.

[Q] Language and Local Settings limited on GNex ?

Only two variants of English, the English (US) and English (UK) are listed under the language settings. When I used an app called "Any Locale, a switching widget", I saw way more options than what was shown in the language menu. When I selected an English (India) option in the app, the language setting in language & input reflected that change and displayed the selected language as English(India). I still cannot access half the options the app shows in the main default language settings menu. Does anybody have any input on why this is happening ? Is it because GNex was not launched in all countries that the language option was limited. Does other non-stock JB ROMs also have this limitation ? Any input on the topic would be welcome. TIA
Stock 4.1.1 and I have access to like 40 languages in the main phone settings.

Let me try to make myself clearer. There are around 40 languages shown in the Language menu, in which there are only two variants for English . (United Kingdom and United states). Where as the app is offering a lot more options for the locale, which I can set from the app, like English (India). This gets reflected in Settings -> Language & input settings -> Language, so it is working to some extent but I dont understand why I cannot set it from there in the first place. The reason I am going to such detail is because the Navigation app uses this information to set accent of the voice, but I could not set the language to Indian locale from the default menu. I am using the Yakju build which is supposed to be the international build.

That's a good question, but unfortunately I have no idea. And I didn't realize that you could access other languages just by using that app.

Digging more, I found that play store has lots of apps which support custom locales, you could combine language , country and region to create a new one, there are some which retain the setting after reboot, but yet to find one which retains the settings after reboot on Jellybean devices. These apps are handy if you bought some phone say from no-name chinese manufacturer and did not have the usual locales on them.

[Q] S Note language selection

Hello everyone,
My GN2 has been ordered from UK and I am based in US. I have looked everywhere for any idea on how to change this but am not able to find anything.
The phone is set to English US. The Samsung Keyboard has English UK, German, and Chinese by default, but they are not selected and instead I have English US and Russian downloaded and selected. Voice typing and Google Now all have English US selected and installed as offline voice data.
However, in S Note settings, Handwriting input language selection only has English UK, German, and Chinese available for selection and nothing else seems to be available.
Does anyone know a way to change this to English US?
Thanks,
I think you need to flash to a rom for your region.

It would be hard considering there is no US firmware for N7100 but the question is since in every other setting phone has options to choose multiple different languages why S Note has only 3 languages hardcoded, and if there is a way to change that.
