I am using the Official Korean 2.2 Froyo rom and it is awesome sauce. I have deodexed it, zipaligned, resigned and themed it. Running great however...
One minor cosmetic issue i have is how the phone numbers are displayed. I prefer the format 07xxxxxxxxx however in this the numbers are shown as 07x-xxx-xxxxx. I hate it...any way to change it?
I have even tried taking related contacts files from a UK Froyo rom but it never changed...it only removed the Korean characters form dial pad.
If you are using English (US) locale, change to English (UK) or others.

I think the Korean SBF only have US English and Korean language to choose.

The English version sales in Hong Kong this time has multiple language input method. All UI is in English but on the keyboard there is a key for user to switch between Chinese & English input method. The English fonts is standard Tahoma but the Chinese fonts is AR HeiU20 Medium (grey) which is very ugly. I suggest any user change the Chinese Fonts and I found that SC_Song is the best.

Especially with the title i can't directly see if it needs to be in Rom Development?

I think the default Chinese font is fine.
But if you want some Chinese fonts, contace me, I can send you some since I'm using Chinese Vista plus English MUI.
To change the font, just put the font in "\Windows" and make some changes in "HKLM\Software\Microsoft\FontLink\SystemLink"

Hey, I like how HTC applied new chinese input methods for english systems. But they didn't provide any transcribe method. Any good software suggestions? Will CE-Star conflict with the new input methods? Thanks for any help!

Did you mean Chinese hand-writing IME ?
Though I rarely use, but I‘ve got some, like 漢王手寫(HangWang Hand-writing), 三星手寫(SAMSUNG), 蒙恬手写(PenPower), etc..
of course when you search for these IMEs, you'd better Google them with Chinese keywords or it will return less results.
BTW: In fact, I'm now using the Chinese font in official Diamond ROM on my Pro2. It's better than the default Chinese font.

Hey, thanks! Nice to talk to members with the same backgrounds. He he he... Your information is very useful.
What's the difference in the fonts? Is the Diamond one better? any screen dumps?
Did you guys get a CE-Star install CD with your English version TP2?
hi, Singaporean Chinese here. We have the A4 chinese input method installed by default on the Rhodium. Noticed that I cannot input 'PinYin' using the hardware Qwerty keyboard and have to use the touchscreen kb.
How about HKG? Do you have the same software? If yes, is this a software limitation?

Nope, didn't get the CS-Star CD. Because you are able to use the keyboard to input chinese words.
You have 4 options:
1. ZhuYin
2. PinYin
3. CangJie
4.Stroke
I don't know why they didn't provide a transcribe version, so I can just write on the screen. I am no good with the keyboard.
I want to install CE-Star but don't know if it will conflict with current Chinese inputting methods.

Try installing CE-Star v2.8 R3c.
From what I read previously, Diamond2 was bundled with CE-Star despite having Chinese support, but I don't know anyone with one in person to confirm this.
I have run the HTC development ruu on my unbranded desire and I can't change the locale to UK. It shows on date and time that I am in the correct time zone but under languages and keyboard its still set to English US. Is there any way of changing this?
Now that you mention it I remember that before installing the Scandinavian keyboard and the Swedish dictionary from the market, the default keyboard AND dictionary was US English.
I didn´t pay too much attention because there are no Scandinavian keyboards in the earlier versions and so I always install this from market. The difference is that in Froyo there was at least a Swedish dictionary, even if it was a bit rudimentary.
Perhaps this is one of the things cut down to save space. There must be some keyboards and dictionaries you can install from the market I suppose.
The problem that i have is weird, i am set to UK time and location but for some reason as the language is set too US English i cant access the UK Android Market or the UK Amazon MP3 market. I would have thought that as my location was set to UK i would get UK based stores/apps?
Does anyone know how i would go about changing it to UK?
Any help is much appreciated.
Try morelocale 2 free from market

Hi - hope you're still getting notifications of this, but can you confirm that sorted out your issues with the UK Android Market? I've just done pretty much the same thing with the Gingerbread update and noticed it didn't have English (United Kingdom) so Play Store is saying some apps can't be installed in my country, when they were installed fine before flashing.
Thanks
John
Hello everyone,
My GN2 has been ordered from UK and I am based in US. I have looked everywhere for any idea on how to change this but am not able to find anything.
The phone is set to English US. The Samsung Keyboard has English UK, German, and Chinese by default, but they are not selected and instead I have English US and Russian downloaded and selected. Voice typing and Google Now all have English US selected and installed as offline voice data.
However, in S Note settings, Handwriting input language selection only has English UK, German, and Chinese available for selection and nothing else seems to be available.
Does anyone know a way to change this to English US?
Thanks,
I think you need to flash to a rom for your region.

It would be hard considering there is no US firmware for N7100 but the question is since in every other setting phone has options to choose multiple different languages why S Note has only 3 languages hardcoded, and if there is a way to change that.
My grandma just came to Canada and I got here the Wildfire S.
Her native language Is Russian and I would like to switch the interface language to Russian.
How can I accomplished this?
Thanks!!

I'm trying to switch the phone from English to Russian, not the opposite
Is there a a Russian language pack I can download? Or do I need to flash a Russian rom?

Oops. My bad.
I have never seen a Russian Language pack. Maybe google out any ROM with russian language.
I can change the system language into Swedish and keyboard works fine.. but I can't write with the S-Pen in Swedish, only works with German, English and Korean..
Is there a way I could add Swedish S-Pen language to my phone?
Btw, I have a German Note 1 and I can write in Swedish with the S-Pen perfectly fine...
Thanks in advance.
Interesting. I bought mine from my cell carrier here on Turkey and I have all the languages already installed.

Wait, what? Handwriting works for you in all languages on your Turkish Note 2?
Sorry I have misspopken earlier. The only available languages are English, French, Korean , Turkish and 2 more scripts (Arabic and Hindi maybe). Since it was for the Turkish market they might have injected it there. Sorry for the misunderstanding I might have caused.

Same problem with Norwegian language
I have the same problem when trying to add Norwegian S-Pen language to a German Note 2. Any solution in sight?
Or is it the revival of a last century problem: Back then it was impossible (!) to buy a mobile phone offering both Norwegian and German as T9 languages

Norwegian working fine here, On Westcrip's edt black edition.

I hope not, lol. Shouldn't it be possible installing a nordic stock rom on the Note 2? I'm such a noob in that regard... Will investigate further.
I live in the uk but got my note 2 from Germany. I noticed a similar problem where handwriting recognition does not work English_US but luckily does for English_UK , I thought it was a bug but it appears that you cant easily add more S-pen languages. I thought that when you downloaded the input language in samsung keyboard setting, then S-pen imput for that language would be downloaded too, but it isn't.

Not possible to add more S-Pen-Languages.
Hello,
I have been in contact with both the German and Norwegian Samsung support. It seems to be impossible to add Norwegian as an S-Pen language. I suppose, it's impossible to add other languages than those installed when buying the phone too. Sad.
