Google camera "magically" update with March Security patch - Google Pixel 3 XL Questions & Answers

So, I updated my Pixel 3 XL to march security patch and sudenlly my Google Camera App updated to version 7.2.018.283724810, with the "new features".
I was avoiding this camera update because, for me, the app takes much more time to take a picture and process. I tried to uninstall, but the app does not allow me to do that. Tried to download a 7.1 version but, again, the phone does not allow me to do it. I really do want to stay in this 7.2 version. Anyone have an ideia how do I downgrade the app? I'm complete stock here, rootless.

Someone with Pixel 2 XL install my app?

I am a developer who has been emailing a user back and forth for a week trying to diagnose an install error with my app.
I need someone with a Google Pixel XL 2 on the most recent update (Android 8.1 on the May 2018 Security Patch) to just try and download and install and see if you get the install error 505.
It's a quality Auto-Reply app called TextAssured.

Thank you!
I downloaded and installed it just fine and it appears to be working the little bit I played with it on my device, I am on the April security patch if that helps any.

Ok just got my new Moto z2 force, and it has the Sep 2017 security update.. Now all I want to do is root and debloat my phone (Ssprint). Should I update to the latest before unlocking the booloader, or just go a head.. Thanks

I would go ahead with the update and then unlock the bootloader and install TWRP + Root.

Just bought mine too. I took the updates and have root no issue
Security Patches coming all 60 days, rigth? So, next one after mai patch is the 07/2018 patch, which should come next month. Maybe with 8.1?

Nice. @Uzephi has a kernel for stock ROMs and one for AOSP based ROMs. I have used the stock ROM kernel with good results and zero issues. Good luck and happy flashing!!

Sure, but I see some problems by using of custom roms on my other phone (Z Play), so I prefer to get official updates without unlocking the bootloader for my newer Z2 Force. Second reason is the guarantee for manufacturer issues. And I need the Z2 Force for watching videos like netflix and co, so safety net needed. SD 835 can content play in HD from netflix, so important thing. On Z Play I can see the pixels (just Full HD), but on Z2 Force it's perfect. Much better, you can't see pixels anymore. That's perfect to play movies. Many people try to explain that we can't see the difference, but I see it. VR an Co is all better now. And I hope that we get 3 years Security Updates. It's an expensive business phone for 800€, so we should get updates for long time.

I am rooted with Magisk V16.0 on the stock ROM right now and I have never had an issue with passing SafetyNet. Passes every time. All my apps work too including Netflix. No issues with the Play Store not allowing me to download apps by saying the app is not compatible with my device.

I have no issues as well with downloading any apps from Play Store.. Only quesiton, when installing a new kernel. Is it like on other phones, wipe cache before flashing the kernel? I don't want to screw up a FREE PHONE from Sprint. LOL

You can book YouTube Premium(europe). Then you get support for background playback. That's new, calls YouTube Red, too. Maybe that helps.
Edit: VivisClone, you was faster with your answer, just few seconds. But yes, that's the way.
Anyone know how to install Xposed on this deivce.. I tried the new sdk26 v90 beta which is all they had for Oreo 8.0 but made in Jan 27 2018. It ended in a fail..

Try to mount system. Install Xposed. Switch to other slot (a or b) , restart twrp, mount system and install again.

You can use the YouTube Vanced edition that is available as an apk or get it from Magisk. It allows background playback and ad blocking plus some other settings that the stock YouTube app doesn't have like forced Codecs and Max resolution override as well as a few themed editions. It's the only version of YouTube I will use. There is even a version available for non-rooted devices that still gives the same options.

I just use telegram pop out and I get background and screen off play without root.
I can't get my phone to update. Every time I try, it says "Software update unsuccessful" and under that says "Sorry, there was a problem updating your Moto Z2. No changes were made."
I keep getting the popup on unlock to update, but have to go to "remind me later" every time since it wont successfully update. I'm trying to update security update 1 May-2018. And software version OCXS27.109-48-6

It won't update if you're rooted/twrp or have modified the system in any way.

Ota updated failed cause of mod miui 10 camera api enable or...?

I update to miui 10. Then google camera crashed.
I try mod to solve miui 10 camera bug.
Its work perfectly, I enjoy google camera and night sight mode amazing me so much. Thx to lots of peoples work.
Later the ota update from 8.11.8 to 8.11.15 failed.
So there are two ways to me and the price is phone reset.
Twrp or flashboot to flash into phone.
Thinking about when every week update system i need to set my phone done.
LoL That is so redicious.
Or I just follow security path update,
This is acceptable for me.
Just check this problem is really cause of mod changing system.
By the way I found out redmi note 4x in miui 10 still cant enable camera2 api?
(*>_<*)ノThank you all and thank god I can play google camera by low price.

November 2019 Security update for Android 8.1.0

Hi all,
I haven't upgraded to Android 9, until now, since no OTA updates where reported when checking. It is the global version with a "5 October 2018" security patch level. The build number is V9.6.15.0.ODIMIFE. These days a notifications comes up, reporting what you can see in the attached screenshot, having a size of 1101.5 MB.... It doesn't say if it is a version upgrade....
Has anyone seen such a notification?
I think, I should prepare the phone (enable developer mode, usb debugging, oem unlock, etc) before clicking on "Download and Install"...
Any suggestions?
Thanks!
This is weird. Mine is 1022,07. I'm on September security Patch.

If you're on 8.1 and there's an update for November patch 2019 it will ofc be pie
Yes it is going to be the pie update. Including the security patches until November. I had that in my phone as well and the update works fine.
I eventually installed this update.
It really is a Pie update.
It took about 5 minutes to install after downloading. First reboot screen with the moving horizontal like takes some minutes. Then after the phone boots, some process does some finalizing settings. I had to enable fingertip sensor and setup the fingertips.
Smooth installation and it really works fine!
