Does your S20 Ultra making noise (from camera area?) when you shake the phone?
I tried all cameras and seems to work as it could.....
It's the lens pal, happens on a lot of phones
Its the ois module , nothing to worry about.

Thank you mate, so it's normal then.
Yeah seems normal as mine does it also but never noticed on any other phone
They talked about this on the Samsung Forums. It's that big long periscope camera which is on rails if you open up the Camera App and the shake your phone the noise goes away. Close the Camera app and it returns. Yes this is normal although it can be slightly annoying for some. I can't hear it though because I am Deaf. ?
Turn on noise reduction in development options.
YouTube reviewers also reported this as above its the periscope camera sliding mechanism
Thank you to all!!!
It's not annoying for me, just to be sure that my phone is ok!

Is anyone else experiencing front facing camera distortion?
I'm too embarrassed to take selfies or even use snapchat because of the craziness it does to my head and face.
Try it and tell me if yours does it, put your forehead in the top of the frame, or your chin at the bottom. It totally warps your face. The camera makes my head small when it's in the middle yet makes my nose huge when it's up close. Stock camera app or third party app, it's still there. The distortions are actually ridiculous.
This is too unacceptable for a phone which was supposed to have an awesome front-facing camera. I'm probably going to take it back and wait for 64-bit phones if there is no solution for this. I'll take a low field of view versus such heavy distortion any day.
I have not experienced anything like that ever - for me it's actually been the best front facing camera I've had.
Beauty face was on by default by quite a bit which can make pictures look really weird sometimes, so maybe check that? I'm not sure what else could cause that.

This was a known issue in GS5, but it turned out that it wasn't an actual problem! it's a wide angle lens on the front camera that the edges distort the image a little bit. So if you use different resolution, the faces won't look distorted!! hope this helps~
Maybe ya ain't such a BEAUTY FACE after all... ?

I can't use a different resolution in apps such as Snapchat (the only time I actually take selfies). Hopefully a custom rom/app will fix this later. For certain angles the distortion is just terrible, though.

I have a beautiful face, the Note 4 is worse than an unflattering camera, it literally distorts the hell out of it.
I ran your picture thru my note 4

The face is squished on one side, and stretched on the other.

I have the same problem, had a lg g3 and I am disappointed
Yeah I have this problem too. It's distorted and also very laggy. It's a very wide camera angle too. I'm hoping there's going to be a module to fix it.
The one solution that I have is to turn a filter on the front facing camera and see if that fixes it. I know you can't use those filters on Snapchat but try it and see if it's any better.
That's odd there's multiple people reporting this. When I read the OP I assumed you had a faulty front camera. My front camera is MUCH better than any other phone I've had! I didn't think even had a wide angle lense but simply offered the option for "Wide-Selfie", which is similar to Panorama on the rear camera.
Wide angle lenses all suffer from this issue. The note has a wide angle lens, the only way to avoid this is to stay away from the edges of the screen.
Note 4 camera distortion
My note 4 is experiencing the same problems, I absolutely love this phone but I am so disappointed with the front camera distortion, especially in snap chat. If anyone can help. please let me know.
Note 4 camera distortion SOLVED!
I know this thread is quite old but I wanted to share the solution I found which is simply to change the picture size or more specifically the aspect ratio. I believe the default photo size on Note 4 is 3.7 M with 16:9 aspect ratio, if you change to 4:3 aspect ratio the distortion goes away. No more cone head

THANK YOU SO MUCH! Your solution worked for me on my LG V20!!! I've been wondering about this issue for the last couple of years actually, especially when I had the S3 and S5. I didn't realize it was actual problem with Android phones until I Googled a couple days ago and found this thread! Thanks again for saving my sanity! LOL! ???
Hi guys.
I have a problem in recent days with my 10. I explain it with some examples.
When I'm working in other apps like Telegram, Viber, Instagram and ... I hear a sound from my phone. It's something like activity of camera lenz. If you want to hear it on your phone you can go to camera and switch between front and rear camera.
My question is why ? When I don't use the camera, why it's lenz should make this sound? Go for check in HTC phone repair?
Regards.

Hm do you mean that nearly inaudible little click when the front camera is activated? I couldnt hear it in a normal environment, had to go to a nearly silent room to hear the one little "click" noise at all.

Yep... I hear it when I'm in bed or when I'm working with computer and my phone is on the table. (@home)
I'm not sure that this sound is for front o rear camera!

I think it's front camera, I can hear it when I switch from selfie to front. But it's nearly inaudible on my device.
Yes, this is a normal sound. Going back to my first phone with a front facing camera (HTC Evo 4G *worst naming ever*). I was all in a tizzy back when live wallpapers became a thing. So of course, I had a 'see through' wall paper, which was just either your front or rear camera being used to 'show through' the phone. Looked cool for awhile, got old though.
Anyway.
Any time I unlocked my phone, I would feel/hear that clicking after awhile. Once you're aware that it makes that noise, you can never really tune it out unfortunately, on any device. You'll notice this on everything more than likely now, like I do. lol
TL/DR:
All devices with digital camera lenses make this barely audible 'clicking' noise. This is the camera simply doing it's thing. Don't stress!
Not all digital camera lenses. More specifically, ones with OIS tend to have audible sound as the lens is stabilized to prevent shaking.

Thank's man ...
I have this phone over 3 month, but why recent days this click sound appeared!?
I have a M7 too, never something heard from it.
I found that when I plug my 10 to the charger this occurred again.

So I have sensitive hearing and catch this sort of stuff but wondering if it's normal or some odd defect, despite everything seems to work.
If I open the camera app I hear faint white noise and it seems to come from the ear piece if I put it up to my ear. Almost like if you're on a call but no one is talking and you hear the silent ambient noise.
My only guess is either they seem to share some common power and the speaker is powered with the camera or something is funky on mine.
I did get on a call and open the camera app (it does it at that point still too) just to make sure both worked at same time.
It's not super loud/obvious but in a dead silent room is where I caught it and now know it exist ha.
anyway just wanted to see if anyone else could test that.
Put phone to ear like on a call, not you hear nothing.
Open camera app and put to ear and see if any difference.
Mine has the same hissing sound. But I had to put my ear close to the speaker to be able to hear it. I really don't care since I don't take pictures with my phone near my ear

Yea I think I can live with it just wanted to make sure I wasn't some unique snowflake with this odd issue that later would turn worse because it was a defect.
I guess it's possible to still be one but not being the only one with it eases concerns hah.
Thanks for checking!
Yeah, I hear it too. Must be the OIS ? Probably the small electromagnets in there causing some inteference with the earpiece.
I have that problem too. when i open camera app or switching mode(auto to pro), it make noise and I notice that its camera aperture change then make the noise.
anyone know that problem? it is hardware or software issue.
It´s not a fault - it´s by "design" (why I don´t know thou). It has been like this for many generations of Samsung phones now (atleast S6, S7, S8 & S9).
Hi! When I'm switching between cameras modes I can hear and feel a little noise and vibration, Anyone knows if are they part of the UI or the cameras have some moving parts?
Thanks!
Optical image stabilization. I believe one or two of it's rear cams have this.
Yup, it is indeed the image of stabilizer that is shaking around
Wow I didn't expect this sound from the stabilizer, at least now I know is not a problem
Thanks!
Also auto focus moves the lens in and out, so its a combination of both systems de-energising and the lens bouncing back to it's free floating position.
It's the OIS, every OIS rattles, the bigger the sensor/lens, the louder the noise. Watch this video for more information. Pixel 6 Pros periscope lens has a relatively "loud" rattle noise, as has the S21 Ultra as another example.
You can also try it out with previous phones: Shake it harder than you normally would, and you will be able to hear the same noise, just a tad more quiet.
-> 44:54
What's funny is that when power is applied to the OIS, such as when you open the camera app the OIS doesn't rattle as it moves to stabilise your picture. On my S21U, the OIS always was always powered so it wouldn't rattle even when the cam was off(Samsung probably did this as people were returning the phone thinking it was faulty) but this caused a wakelock and battery drain and people were complaining. On one of the last updates I had before I sold the phone, they removed this so the OIS started to rattle again when the cam wasn't being used.
I've have the phone since October.
Mine made no noise from launch until today. I do not think it's to be making a clunky rattle. Not heard anything about this but found a few threads where Google just says it's normal because the camera has moving parts. I have had many cameras with moving parts that did not start to rattle after 5 or 6 months.
Just picking it up made the noise and just turning it over as well.
Anyone get a fix or replacement?
Mine sounds like it has a few marbles in it when I shake it. Ditto for the S22 ultra but not as noticeable. When the OIS isn't active, the lens can move. To keep it parked would require a constant current draw.

They ALL make the ratting noise when you shake them because of the stabilizer in the camera. It's totally normal. Yours did it from the day you bought it but you probably haven't noticed until now.
It is the lens elements in the periscope assembly so it is a bit louder than normal but all OIS lenses rattle if you shake them hard enough.
Samsung even have a page dedicated to it. https://www.samsung.com/sg/support/...of-the-device-when-shaking-your-galaxy-phone/

This.
Now, some OIS are prone to rattle more, usually on bigger sensors/especially with a periscope lenns.
You can also shake any of your older phones (Iphones, Pixels, Samsungs, whatever). They will ALL make a rattling noise (as long as they have an OIS), if you shake them and hold it close to your ears. Most "older" phones with smaller sensors/OIS are just much more quiet in that regard.
It's absolutely normal for your Pixel (6) to have a rattling sound when you shake the phone.
Mind also, that this is a potential weak point. If you rattle the phone too hard for too long, it's possible for the OIS to break. Now that will usually never happen in a normal usecase, but I've seen several reports of motorbike owners over the years and their OIS problems, since the constant bumping (they used their phones for navigation) with high speed (100 km/h +), thundering over potholes and the likes, permanently damaged the OIS. It is, after all, a moving part. And all moving parts can break.
Now, I do not know how "hard" your rattle is. Your text said that this "developed" over the months. That should NOT happen. So they question is: Did the rattle really increase, or did you just become aware of it?
If it "changed" or "increased" it is indeed possible that something changed/broke (you can test the OIS functioning by making a simple video and seeing if the stabilization kicks in).
You can try to find out if it's the "normal" OIS rattle sound by going into the camera and forcing the different lenses (zoom in or out), whilst slightly shaking the phone. If the zoom kicks in (periscope lens) the "heavy" rattle should effectively disappear. If that is not the case, it's rather likely that something broke at your end.
Thing is the rattle in mine goes away when i don't think about it and it only comes back when people remind me it rattles.
Got my pixel 6 pro on 29th march I just shook it by ear and can hear a rattle

If the camera app is open the rattle goes away as the bias current applied to the coil is fighting movement.
Interesting tidbit when using a video camera with stabilized lens on a moving ship we have to disable stability (when camera is on tripod) or the rocking of the ship causes the stabilizer to hunt and the image itself moves slightly which looks very similar to a motion picture scene on a ship where it is intentional to give the viewer the feeling of the ship rocking. This with professional gear with large lenses, not sure if it would affect phone cams though.
Put it on 4x zoom and you wont hear the rattle.
It's normal
