Hi I think I may have triggered accidentally by long pressing the Power & Volume buttons, a Recovery and Wipe of Apps and Personal Files.
On starting the OP5T, it is like a Factory Reset with all accounts, apps, files deleted.
Is it possible to recover the files from the Memory? I have already tried Dr Fone but this only sees the files I can see using Windows Explorer. I need to go deeper in the hope that the files are still in the memory of the device.
There are no Backups to recover.
Urgently need help because I cannot use the phone, hoping I can recover files before reinstalling all the apps and potentially over-writing the memory of the files I want to recover.
Thanks in advance!!
Guess no reply means no :crying:

Hey,
I want to mess around and most likely break things but i want to know i can recover from it ^_^
Soft reset = restart device yes?
Hard reset = ?? dose it have a backup rom in there or something what exactly dose this do
Can i backup and later restore the entire rom? as far as i can see i need to pay for something like this which seems to me like a very very basic feature...
Looking foward to putting my mind at rest so i can start breaking things =D
Cheers
Hello! Hard reset means that you reset your device to the manufacturer's default. Well, that means: after a hard reset:
- When you turn your device ON, it acts exactly as the first time you did it
- You won't loose the ROM
- You will loose everything you did after the first use. That means, for example: contacts, installed applications, pictures, sms, emails, installed applications, phone configuration, ect...
- What won't be deleted: contacts on SIM card, everything on Memory Card. I recommand you to save on your mem card: contacts, pictures, CAB files (so it's easy to re-install apps after hard reset), media files (music and video, but usually you won't put them on the device memory, so no problem there)
- Well, basically, after a hard reset, it's like you turn on your phone for the first time (except that your memory card won't be formated)
You can backup your contacts-email-contactspictures-sms using PIM backup. Just save the backup file in the memory card or on your PC. Then restore it after hard reseting your device. More informations here: http://www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-pim-backup-v2-8.html
I hope that helps you!
Thx for the reply ^_^
So if i go into file explorer and delete everything, a hard reset will fix that?
Just want to know if its just resetting settings and del personal data/programs, or if its reloading all the files into the rom from.. somewhere else.
Trying to get an idea of what i cant recover from, or if i download something suspect, can it do any lasting damage

Well... no and yes.
No, you won't be able to delete everyting using File Explorer , and Yes a hard reset will clean up all your mess and "reinstall" Windows Mobile from scratch afterwards. It's more or less like formatting your PC's hard drive and then use the recovery partition or CD/DVD to rebuild everything up to the original state.
I would advise you to remove your memory card before hard reseting... just in case. Better safe than sorry.
MMMk i think i get how it works then ^_^
There is 1 rom and it just restricts access to origonal files and restores a copy of origonal settings? So its unlikely my curiosity will get the better of me by editing or deleting things, time for some fun =D
Thx for the replys!
"Sprite Backup" will not restore ROM (nor will any other backup software) - but Sprite will backup/restore *every* other setting, let you browse backup files, and makes self-restoring backups.
Hey everyone, I am having a little problem... I recently did a factory reset and when the phone booted back up all the files photos and folders that were there before the reset are still there. I have tried to do it from cwm with the code from the phone and from backup and reset in every case all the folders and photos and music remain. I have cwm version 6.0.1.2 installed have rooted but have stock Rom on the phone, I have also noticed when I go in to my filenfolder and start browsing inside the internal sd card it seems laggy. Any help would be greatly appreciated

I guess if you have CWM theb factory reset doesn't delete your files and folders. If you want to delete files and folders as well, then you can simply connect your phone to laptop and delete the files and folders from there. The files will be recreated after the restart. Also, you can try the format option from cwm. I haven't done myself, therefore please do a search to see if it'll help your needs or not.

If you want to delete your files and folders, go into storage and wipe/reformat there. In cwm, i think it's under mounts and storage.

Thanks I will have to try that, I just wondering if I do that is there any chance I will delete the original rom on the on board memory?
It will delete the zip file for the ROM, but won't change the ROM you are currently running.
Hi guys. My Fire Phone is rooted and it was working without trouble. I had my backup at my laptop, so I started deleting some system apps to see if it improved performance. My laptop for stolen, and I'm pretty much trapped without the files I deleted. I can't update automatically because I deleted the OTA Verifier, and can't do a factory reset because Amazon Backup and Restore is also gone
Is there any way to install manually an OTA update file so I can get back the system files I lost? My Fire Phone version is Fire OS 4.6.1 (461013820). There's the same file in some other thread. Is it dangerous to push an update if it's the very same version the phone already has?
Thanks in advance for your help
You can try to install the apps manually, if you are not successful / not experienced enough: re-install the OS.
You can find all the Stock Apps and The Factory Images in my post.
Thanks for your help. Just to know, if I force the OS to reinstall, will all the data be lost?
Yes, it will be completely "wiped", just like you bought it. I assume you have access to another PC so you can backup your data, etc.
If you can remember the apps you deleted, maybe you don't need to reinstall (but you will need a file explorer with root access)
The factory reset you mentioned wouldn't work anyway, because the deleted apps will stay deleted, since FR only erases some folders and data: it doesn't restore data, only settings.
When you decided to reinstall: download the US factory image, it's the one you already had installed (461013820). Good luck!
Hello, I deleted a folder by accident cleaning my phone, this folder have a lot of images and I can't recuperate it. I tried a lot of apps but I think I need to root the phone and here is the key. I haven't unlocked yet my mobile, so I've seen very tutorial in which unlocking the phone would involve wipie all the data, so It is stupid wipe all the data because I couldn't recovery my folder then.
Sorry if it wouldn't clear explained.
So, Some ideas about how to recover my folder without root or there are any way to root without wipe all the data.
Thank you

Hi, yesterday phone admin made factory reset by remote control and now phone is empty. There was a lot of photos and info in it. Is there any chances to recover data or at least some photos? And how to do it?
Android 10
Last time I was doing something similar - Samsung S4

If you have created a backup before, you can restore from there.
I assume that you do not have s backup.
On some devices, there is a kind of trash/paper bin, in which you can find deleted files.
If not on your device, you can connect your device to a PC (via USB cable), and check with a recovery tool if it can detect deleted files to be restored on the internal storage of your phone.
You should really create a backup of all your files regularly, when you're phone admin is performing a remote factory reset from time to time. Or insert an external sd card/USB storage to copy your files in a place that is not affected by a factory reset.
Usually on a PC hard drive you can run a data recovery software to try and get things back. I believe with phones its a bit different. Once you factory reset it sets every bit on the phones memory to a 1, so its impossible to get everything back.
I could be talking out my arse however.
