Unfortunately during opening I cut original flex from fingerprint sensor, till that time everything worked well. I ordered 2 brand new sensors and simply replaced, I've tried both sensors but non of them is now detected by the phone. I did full wipe, reinstall firmware (official downgrade) but fingerprint is simply not detected even in test mode. Any ideas how to make it work again?

I've got a HTC Desire which has been rooted and Im running Sandvold's ICS. I needed to reboot my phone the other day and after the reboot my camera shows a black screen of death. I first thought it might be a corrupted OS - I reinstall, restores a previous working backing, factory reset - none of them helped which leads me to believe its a hardware fault.
When I run the camera I get a black screen and sometimes a popup that says camera is not responding.
I download a flashlight app and the camera LED doesn't appear to work either - it also says flashlight is not responding.
I though replacing the camera module might do the trick but the flashlight is not part of the module? Anyone has any similar problems?
When you say black screen of death (widely known among windows OS users as KSOD), do you then mean a black screen followed by a system crash which is resolved by pulling out the battery or a black screen followed by system reboot?
try a non ICS rom... think camera is pretty unstable on ICS rom
Thanks - I'll try and go back to stock and see.
I just get a black screen - no OS crash. I can go back and everything is still working fine - no reboots.
Update: Ok - it must be a hardware problem.
I've gone back to CM7 - factory reset/new SD card. Still the same problem.
Update2: Ok - its fixed. Let hope this helps someone else. I opened the phone up and removed the top board and then saw one of the ribbon cables was loose (the one on the left) I reseated it and now camera and flash work perfectly again! Woo hoo!!
flexi cable loose connection to the lower board (the board with the SIM reader)
many thanks !
after disassembling the phone, the connector , the one on the left was not very well connected to the board, so i removed both boards, upper one with the camera and lower one with the sim card reader
plugging it back, and assembling everything made it all work
in my case, the following was not working:
camera
flash
mic jack
now it is all working perfect !!
to see how to disassemble it: check youtube desire disassemble

I have the same problem with my g-sensor so I tried this way and it always work with my HOX , as long as you have a car charger
-the idea is to overheat your HOX , keeping at active all the time
-You need your battery to be around 50% not more than that , as you need to give it a chance to charge
-I open my data connection + map + navigation + screen on brightest available and on all the time + and connect it to car charger
the phone will heat up fast within 5 minutes
-once you feel your device is hot enough do a restart (fast boot way works for me )
-once your device is on back try to run your camera to see if your g-sensor is back
-and once its back dont turn your device off or restart it as the g-sensor will go back offline and that including flashing a new ROM
-I have use g-sensor debug from play store to check my g-sensor all the time , once you turn it on it will recognize it as Panasonic 3-axis Acceleration sensor with numbers running up and down , but if the g-sensor is off ill will show nothing

Have the same issue, Camera does't work in Sense 5, related to broken gyroscope. Mine's MPL Invensense sensor, went kaput few weeks back. Now it isn't coming back online, no matter what I do.
It's damn shame, we can't use Camera in Sense 5, unless someone modifies the kernel to make it work for broken gyroscope users. Using CM10.2 as of now.
i don't understand

Hi,
Had my phone a couple of years, no problems, but recently cracked the screen.
Bought three replacement screens and fitted them in phone:
* 1st one touchscreen digitiser worked perfectly all the time but LCD was broken (had lines/artifacts on it) - sent it back.
* 2nd one, same supplier as first, LCD worked, but digitiser works intermittently - it always works immediately after phone reboot, but after the screen locks for the first time, it then has a problem where it registers an input when I'm not giving any, so the screen goes haywire and I can't even enter my pin or restart phone (Have to use red button in sim card bay). Occasionally and randomly when I try it, it sometimes works so I can enter my pin, and then use the phone until the next time the screen locks....but basically phone is rendered unusable, because this is totally random. Sent this one back too.
* 3rd one bought from a different supplier - AFAIK this one is a genuine Sony part (it at least has the Sony logo on it), but have the same digitiser problem as the second. Time has passed to send this back.
Due to the above description I am sure it is not a problem with the phone (1st one digitser worked perfectly & original cracked screen digitser worked for half the screen where it wasn't cracked). I'm also sure it's a software issue, since it works everytime following a phone reset but before the screen is locked. Behaviour seems to be the same at different temperatures. Also inspected the flex connector and ribbon components under microscope at work, and saw no problems.
One think I noticed is that all 3 screens I bought have no insualting backing on the back of the LCD, so the metal back touches the metal shield below - I did not see any screens to buy with the insulating backing - I wondered if this could be affecting the EMC behaviour of the screen (some capacitivie coupling with the digitiser or some type of grounding issue) - but then why would the digitiser of 1st screen work ok, and work for >1hour following a reset but then not after a screen lock?
Tried turning glove mode on/off - no difference in behaviour. Tried using screen while it is not fitted in phone housing (not touching metal shield), same behaviour.
I saw a couple of threads from a while back, but don't know if they are up to date, or if a solution to this problem is now known:
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2691849
This one gives a solution, but then says at the top of the thread DON'T TRY THIS FIX, IT IS A HARDWARE ISSUE NOT SOFTWARE.....so I'm worried to try it.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2662457
This one is to adjust the touchscreen sensitivity, but even though I have root access, I get an error message relating to the mount commandwhen trying to copy the edited idc file back to the system\usr\idc directory, "operation not permitted'.
Does anyone know a reliable fix that works? Or how I can get write access to idc folder to try editing the clearpad file? I don't have an SD card for my phone, but not sure it is essential for these methods?
Thanks

Assuming you're on LP 5.1... System rw access is disabled by default, even with root. Flashing dual recovery by NUT is easiest way to get it. Then you should be able to move files in boot or in recovery.
Suddenly, my fingerprint sensor stopped working. I can still use the home button by pressing it, but touching/swiping does not do anything.
Flashed this patch https://forum.xda-developers.com/lenovo-zuk-z2/themes/patch-fingerprint-fix-pie-t3833320 but it did not the trick. Dirty flashed AEX 6.6 (same as before), now the sensor "works." However, after some time I frequently end up with a message on the lockscreen which loosely translates to "no fingerprint sensor hardware found". In this case, I need to unlock the phone via PIN, sometimes the sensor is then back to normal
Any ideas what could cause the problem?

Could you be a little more precise?
So far, I have flashed ZUI and afterwards AEX 6.6. The problem sill persists.
I would highly appreciate some feedback.

Have u ever opened your phone.
The physical connection of sensor to motherboard is loose maybe ,the connector is beside speaker
Hello,
As you probably already read in the title I have a problem. Yesterday my loving MI6 fell on a stone and the screen broke. Fortunately the phone is still on.
The Screen will go on but I can only see pink lines and no image. Touch is not working. The fingerprint sensor seems to work randomly (I get a vibrate feedback) but I guess because of the cracks it doesn’t recognize my fingerprint.
My biggest concern now is to get the data of my phone. Of course, just connecting it to a computer doesn’t work because I would have to unlock the phone and set it to data transfer. Right now the computer recognizes the phone but the drive doesn’t show anything.
I thought about booting into TWRP and connecting it to the computer but TWRP also requires an unlock which I cannot try because of the broken touch.
Any ideas how I can get my data back?
Are there any adb commands that I can use?
I am on LOS15 (TWRP installed).
Thank you for your help!
Update:
Just wanted to let anyone know who get stuck with the same problem. I couldn’t get the data from the phone. I tried several things with data rescue tools and remote control tools for android but nothing worked.
So in the end I bought a new LCD screen on eBay and replaced it. Phone works great again and eventually I was able to access all my data.
