Just started playing minecraft and GTA 3. Amazing processor speed . I wasn't much of a gamer on the SG2 ... but this phone has changed it for me. Any suggestions for good games to play that will take advantage of the quadcore processor and 5.5 inch super amoled?!

Im going to recommend Rayman Jungle Run, It doesn't necessary take avantage of the quad core processor but it just simply looks great and sounds phenomenal.
Another game I recommend is Beach Buggy Blitz

I've been playing Final Fantasy 3 on mine. Not the best quality graphics but still fun. Found a game earlier called Dead Trigger and its definitely an intense game that runs well on our device. They said it has optimizations for tegra 3 but on the highest quality settings I found no stutter or lag.
lets keep this thread going..i wasnt a gamer on my previous phones due to battery life but on the note i am playing games so lets keep this thread alive !!
Fifa12 runs really well on it. Xplane and F-Sim space shuttle are amazing. Has anyone noticed how sensitive the accelerometer is?

Shadowgun and the accompanying multi player beta work great! The Sims freeplay as well. The entire asphalt series, star/pocket/other legends, order and chaos, and quite a few others work amazingly with this exynos.

Personally game wise I would suggest playing with some emulators. FPSE on the market is an awesome PSX emulator. Also if you go onto slideme market you can find n64oid which runs a treat on the note 2.

Some emulators bring their own methods for acquiring roms, others you have to get them from a third party source. I prefer the latter, they are easier to find and more accessible

Just to cool your expectations, you will not really be able to play games using the HDMI out I thought I would do the same. The video out is a processed clone, though, meaning 1/3rd to 1/2 second delay before it gets to your TV (plus whatever your TV settings add). Requires you to turn off overscan as well. Also, it forces an upscale to 1080p 30. Aside from not being very smooth this scaling slows the device a lot; games that run flawlessly without HDMI connected turn into slideshows even on the device. All said and done, it is cool for watching movies but not for much else, even browsing is painfully unresponsive.
I saw a video of NOVA3 and that looked really good. Ive played Dead Trigger as well. Black Ops Zombies is out on Android too. Then of course Plants vs Zombies and Peggle are always great.
Love wargames and ski safari
I wasn't much of a gamer on my Nexus S 4G, but as with most people, this phone's changed that for me. I've been playing Final Fantasy 3 the most, followed by a few simple games like Cut the Rope and Dice with Friends, then of course there's the emulators. I find it incredibly ironic that I can use FPse on this phone to play Spyro better than I could play it on the Playstation Vita(considering Spyro STILL hasn't been released)
FPse runs like a dream on this thing, same with n64oid. Last time I really messed around with emulators was back when I first got my NS4G, they've come quite a way since then. I'm still not too keen on using the on screen keys, but I bought an iControlPad 2 off Kickstarter, so hopefully they'll have those built soon and I'll be able to use that.
I found that a few games don't seem to work with the GN2, 3 that come to mind are Plants vs Zombies, Peggle, and Asphalt 6. I just upgraded from Asphalt 6 to 7 in order to solve that problem, but it's unfortunate that PvZ and Peggle don't work...

How do PvZ and Peggle not work??? Are they completely incompatible? Or do they just look really stretched?
I highly recommend the bards tale. It was a huge hit on the xbox but I never had one. You owe it to yourself to try this game. At 2.99 this game is a steal.
Also since it isn't a fps the tv out might work better. I don't have a cable or dock yet so I haven't tried it.

Got a chance to play Shadowgun on my 70" TV with PS3 controller tethered. There is virtually NO lag whatsoever. Not sure where you get you specs for video out or what type of MHL adapter you are using. You may have alot of TV post processing turned on.
I bought a generic MHL for $10 on ebay and it works fine. But DO NOT buy the claimed OEM adapter on ebay that is in a samsung branded box and have a sticker taped on for the model. The fake adapter even says SAMSUNG on it but is counterfeit. Got my $15 back on that through buyer protection.

Hello, I want to buy a drawing tablet for CAD software (Autodesk Inventor, 3D Max, SolidWorks). I also want to buy a Galaxy Note 10.1/iPad Air. Is it possible to turn the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 into a tablet for PC running 3D CAD software?

Might work as well. I read that it works well for the purpose of doing drawings or as an input for PC's using a tablet. Its likely the most responsive option for what you were referencing.
short answer.. no.
You can't run native windows CAD apps on android. Even if you remote to your desktop pc, it's not going to be fast or accurate enough.

Yes but it is done over wifi and incredibly laggy. It's more of a thing people are goofing around with. Until somebody figures out how to do it over USB I don't ever see it being lag free. I hear however the Surface Pro can be made into an excellent pen input device for a powerful desktop. Might want to look at that instead. I keep meaning to try it with my wife's SP2 if I can ever get her to put it down.
*edit* I'm specifically talking about apps designed to let the S Pen be used as input for a PC. Not talking about general purpose remote desktop or use your screen as a mouse pad apps.
So, for the time being, there is no interface that allows one to connect the Note 10.1 2014 to a PC/Mac physically and uses the device as a tablet?
Ativ
Samsung ativ tablet will be good for you.
It has also s-pen like note 10.1.
Atom cpu is a little slow though.
I would go for a powerful laptop and real graphing tablet (the ones that have been around for a while) and have a seperate tablet for other stuff.

This project sounds promising except they only have it working for linux at the moment, perhaps a good coder will join them and they can get it to work for PC as well.
I'm about to make the plunge and buy a Galaxy Tab Pro 12.2 in the next few days (BTW there's a deal on Samsung's website that gives you the Samsung keyboard case that retails for $130 for free with the Tablet). Anyways, I was wondering how really good the Remote PC feature is on the Note 12.2. Is it lagfree, how is browsing on it if possible. And can you download files onto the PC with the app and then transfer it to your tablet? It sounds like a great app in theory I wanna know how good it is in real life usage.

Its not really bad lag but quite a bit slower then if you are watching on your pc. I think thats standard for any remote pc solution though.

what programs in android are written to take advantage of an 8 core processor?
And can you name any that i can download from googles play store?
That are optimized for 8 core samsung processors?
Oh wow! All those letters on that site are making my girlie brain ache. Cant you feel it too?
So the point is you cant mention a single app that is designed for an 8 core processor that i can download from google play?
So basically samsung has become the amd of the android market? Their processors could do more but no one uses them and so the only bennies come from possibly multitasking. That would be great if i wanted to run a virtualboc and play skyrim i guess... ps. Lets port skyrim to android....

Generally stated, apps need not concern themselves with processor count. The only thing an app has to do is prepare for threaded operations, which Android generally does well at threading so long as apps are well written.
To be sure, resource (CPU, et al) scheduling is the kernel's job and Linux is quite aware of the eight cores and how to used them to schedule apps and lower level system operations.
So no, Samsung nor any other multi-core (or multi-processor model for dedicated operations) is not the next AMD.
Hope that helps.
Thank you
Hello all,
Have been a PC gamer for many years now and a gamer all my life (Spectrum 48k, 1982) , few games have hooked me in recent years like two of the three game i'm listing here and the fact that we've moved on so much with technology that I've gone from upgrading my whole system to play one of these games and upgrading the operating system to play another vs being able to play them same great games with the same performance on our mobile phones?? is quite odd isn't in it
Anyway, some of you may know about these, some of you may not, so i'll write up a quick tutorial on exactly how to install these games on your Oneplus 5 and what not to do
NOTE** You must own the original game in order to legally play these, I will not link the game / torrent / files or whatever, you can do what you will but I will not discuss this any further so please don't ask! XDA does not condone piracy
The games in question are as follows:
Return to Castle Wolfenstein
Doom 3
Quake 3 (with Arena)
The games come in two parts:
The apk which is a front end which can read the pak files which form the bulk of the games
The pak files which are installed when installed on your computer, usually within C:\Program Files\RTCW etc or wherever you installed it.
All of the front end's are freely available on the play store, I personally could not find RTCW on the play store, but as it is free I simply downloaded it, if they offered a premium version I'd certainly pop them a beer or two for their work
Return to castle wolfenstein
APK: https://www.dropbox.com/s/f0a3dy8tvt2wpro/1_return_to_castle_wolfenstein.apk?dl=0
Once installed you will need to copy the folder from your PC called main, the normal path is C:/Program Files/ID Software/Return to Castle Wolfenstein/main
Copy the "main" folder to your phone, then place it into a folder in the root of your internal memory in a newly created folder called rtcw4a, then open the app (rtcw4a)
*Note, you can change the resolution and graphics options to whatever you want, but AA will crash the game if altered, you can also change settings within game as you would on PC, multiplayer doesn't work afaik but the game runs at a nice solid 60fps at least.
Doom 3
App link in play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.n0n3m4.DIII4A&hl=en
Again once installed you'll need to copy the folder from your PC called base from your PC installation of Doom 3, again it should be within the Program files/Doom 3 folder, you'll want to copy it to a newly created folder in the root of your internal memory called diii4a.
Note* again you can only change certain settings, the ones i've found to be best are as follows:
Disable lighting - Off
Use DXT Textures - On
Use ETC1 compression - On
Use ETC1 cache - On
Graphics:
Resolution: Normal
MSAA: None
Multiplayer does load on this but there wasn't anyone present, perhaps a LAN party would be possible
Quake 3 and Arena
This for me is the best of the bunch, not because it's the best game, because it just isn't but because you CAN play multiplayer, it's absolutely superb, you can host a LAN party between phones and the framerate is ridiculously high so massively enjoyable, just pray that no one is using a KB and Mouse if you aren't yourself cos you will lose
App link in play store: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.n0n3m4.QIII4A&hl=en
Once again you'll need to copy the folder from your PC called baseq3 from your PC installation of Quake 3, again it should be within the Program files/Quake 3 folder, you'll want to copy it to a newly created folder in the root of your internal memory called qiii4a.
In regards to graphics I set my resolution to 1080p, left MSAA alone as it broke the game (force close) graphics within the game can be changed same as PC, multiplayer works for me as I do own all these games, even if you don't own them, because they're so old, you can buy them for pennies these days so personally I'd say avoid the pirate route, you'll only end up with a crappy version and bad karma
Final notes
All of the games have on screen buttons and have been absolutely rock solid for me,
You will need to be rooted to use a mouse? Not sure why but it requires it?
You will need to use the latest pak files to play these games, if you've already got them say through steam then you'll be set.
PS: I did not make these apps, this is simply a share and how to, props go to the talented bunch who made this possible (who afaik is Proger10 according to the Play Store)
Hope to see you in the arena
PS: Bare in mind, the Oneplus 5 does not allow TV Out via a cable, which is just wrong really, no idea why they've cut that out, suppose it's something to do with Googles decision to pull it even though they actually sell a USB-C to HDMI cable? Who knows.
You should maybe do a YouTube video showing these in action?

Not personally however on the HTC 10 (same android level) CM / Lin roms currently crash the phone forcing you to hard reset and the performance is sub par in comparison, it simply isn't optimised enough.
I fear TV out is a lost cause, Google started it on the pixel, Samsung have followed suit, OnePlus, the only other I'm not sure of is Sony, HTC and LG. HTC 10 definitely could do it but not sure about the 11.
Just a real shame.

No worries mate, not my app, just a share. Works incredibly well on most phones.

Display link adapters work, I had one working today. Just need to find one, cheap enough which is portable enough to be practical
My one at work besides costing over £100 easily, it's too big and needs auxillary power. I'll keep looking.

Just clocked, it's not standard USB. It's bloody that USB 3 with the extra port over micro USB. Didn't see it first, shame. Might still be possible but an extra cable would be needed.

But £47 ?? Crazy expensive, for cheap plastic.
