Redmi note 8t huge issue with screen please help! - Redmi Note 8 Questions & Answers

So I've gotten Redmi Note 8t half a month ago or so.. and about the time I updated to MIUI 11 I've started experiencing this weird bug.. Any app or screen or page or icons from the home screen or buttons from apps that remain turned on for some time (literally anything longer than 15 seconds) kind of stay "etched" on my screen for some time (relatively equivalent to the time the relevant app/screen/page was turned on).
I have no idea why this is happening so any help would be massively appreciated. A photo of the problem attached.
Ps this bug appears on every darker screen, not just on home screen.

the images don't seem to be loading for me, but looking at your description it appears to be a burn-in problem.
I'd suggest you bring it to a service center to have it checked.

Thanks for your reply. Try opening them by clicking on the link and then tapping on "view full image" - it's the only way they'll load I've no idea why, today the whole xda website behaved very unresponsive for me, maybe they didn't upload properly.
Anyway I've just now googled "burn-in" (yep I'd never heard about this before) and from whar I've seen it seems pretty similar to my problem.
Although, in my case, the icons/buttons/keyboard letters that "etch" themselves into the screen after being used for some time do disappear after some time (usually dependant on the time those apps/icons/letters were shown/used on the main screen.
PS The thing is new, I've no idea how this could have happened.

I had this issue with a Moto G5, apparently it is not permanent, wich is nice, because when its permanent like in the case of amoled displays, the only real solucion is to replace the display. In this case to minimize it I downloaded a blue screen filter app and lowered the screen brightness to around 70 or less, btw this usually happens when you are watching bright stuff or when the phone is hot, also try to use dark mode whenever you can.

FOUND A SOLUTION
After tampering with many a setting, I found out that setting the colour temperature of the display in the stock settings of the phone to cool renders the burn-in almost completely invisible.

nice to see your problem has been solved!
some LCDs have screen retention when displaying certain colour temperatures.
also, seems like your attached photos are working again

[Q][HELP]Very very very strange problem with my GN

Hi guys I'm a new registered user, but an old follower. I'm here for a strange problem of my GN. In practice, when I open settings, play store, the browser, a strange thing happens: in pictures of gray, blue, white colours, appears in the background a picture of a conversation WhatsApp with the keyboard open (I came to this conclusion after 34503430 observations and it I'm 100% sure it is an old screenshoot, among other things deleted from WhatsApp). So i have done full wipes and also a super wipe and installed other roms but the problem persists. An other strange thing is that when i do a screenshoot the problem in the .png image doesn't appear. So i have taken some pictures with my S3 for showing you the problem. I don't think that could be an hardware issue, because the phone is very fast and smooth, the resolution and the colours are very amazing and all works perfectly. For me there is a partition of this file in the system files. So what could i do?
Thank you for reading and for your time, i've search but no info about that, thank you.

I'm triing to restart my phone from the original version and then i'll reinstall all. But if it will not work what could i do?
That's called a screen burn-in.
Do not use your phone all the time at maximum brightness. To fix this issue, try to put your phone for like 20seconds on a 100% white image covering the entire screen (including the navigation bar). It helped to remove my screen burn-in's
Although I never had the problem that my KEYBOARD O___O got burned in but I had it with the navigation bar but I fixed it very easily with someone's app (don't remember it's name but a user on XDA on the Galaxy Nexus forum posted it to fix the screen issue)

initially thank you for reply. So i'm reinstalling all the system now. The problem is not solved. Now i try your method. I must only set a 100 white image for 20 minutes at 100% of luminosity at full screen? i hope to resolve, many thanks for now.
I'm using tools for remove this problem, so what's the best for you?

Ghost touches in upper third of screen

Hi.
My Z1C seems to have a similar case of faulty display as described in some other threads here, but actually a bit different. The phone is stock, not rooted, running 5.1.1
Whenever I do something, there are ghost touches in the upper quarter or third of the screen. They only happen when I am not touching the screen myself. It happens no matter what I do. When I browse internet, it clicks links, when I scroll contacts, it calls people, when I am on facebook it gives likes etc... It seems like the more demanding task the phone is performing, the more ghost touches.
I turned on the developer settings and the "show pointer location" option, which leaves track of the last touch on screen, so I can research the issue.
I found out that when the phone is on home screen, it happens very rarely or not at all - the track of my last touch stays until screen turns off.
When I jump into the touchscreen service test, it does not happen at all. I can draw a line around the whole screen and it stays higlighted indefinitely.
In lock screen, it also doesn't happen.
I tried it in Sketch and it confirmed what I thought, when I was just sketching, from time to time a dot appeared in the upper part of the screen, but when the phone was downloading or installing in the background, the screen literally had seizures. I touched and released and then a storm of dots started to appear around the top part of the screen. It stopped after 5+ seconds, and after another input from me, the screen got another fit, drawing more dots.
I don't have any experience, but I think that since the problem doesn't happen constantly and it doesn't even happen at all in test mode, it could be a SW mistake.
I have found this thread https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2691849 and I'm willing to try, but 1) my phone is still under warranty and 2) I have never done a root so I am not too eager. Do you think I should try that? Or has anyone found another solution for this problem?
Thanks.

As You have warranty, I would strongly suggest that You go for a repair. I had the same issue in beginning, ghost touches appearing randomly, going away only after reboot. I was rooted and xposed, so went full stock without restoring any apps or data from internal storage, yet the problem remained, thus ruling out the point that it was software problem. And then after a week or so, that much part of screen stopped responding to touch entirely. You can see details over here, Another user had same problem as Mine and had the same end result,
OK then, I'll go for a repair. Thanks for the tip.

I am having exactly the same behaviour as you described .
Ghost touches happening on the upper part, and triggered when a demanding task is running.
Actually I didn't realized completely about this, I thought it was just random, but right now after I saw your post, I tried an app similar to Sketch while upgrading apps or playing a video in the background. And dots in the upper part start appearing crazily.
Did the phone repair solve your problem ? Mine is not in warranty, so I'll have to pay for it.
But also in my case, before this thing happened, I got some water damage and that upper quarter of the screen stopped responding.
After replacing screen+digitizer I got this very specific behaviour you described.

In my case, I realized that I bought (probably) a badly re-fitted phone. Display's backlight was visible around screen panel edges, where I'd say it shouldn't be visible at all. I decided to return the phone and got a refund.
Sorry for not being able to help you.

Ok. The aftermarket screen I got has that issue with the screen edges also. Very probable you are right.
In my case I water damaged myself. It seems that after 2 years of intensive use, waterproofing is gone, by accumulation of slight hits or so, never had a single crack on the screen. I read many posts reporting this happening, even with much less use time.
Too bad, I loved the phone, but I'm afraid that sending it to repair will mean to change the PCB or similar for a complete fix, which can come to a ridiculous price.
Seems it will be time to move on...
Yeah. If you want it fixed properly, you'd need to send it to Sony, and for the money it would cost you, you can probably gen a new phone. Sadly, similar phones aren't made anymore.

Unresponsive display

I've gotten this problem since 20 days ago where my Google Maps get frozen in the middle of my trip. And I had reboot the device multiple times (4-5 times, sometimes skipping the LineageOS booting animation).
After fiddling over 2 weeks, I finally switched to LineageOS 17.0 now (previously using 15.1). The problem still persists.
The problem is : the screen froze, I seem able to tap something on screen but the display doesn't change anything despite my interaction with screen. This especially pronounced when I stop my screen interaction (i.e. not scrolling) on these apps
- Google chrome (say, reading any articles on web)
- Quora (especially when I about to scroll down on author bio)
- Google Sheets
- Maps
but this unresponsiveness doesn't appear at all when I:
- Play any kind of games
- watching YouTube (with the app)
In general, it seems anything that uses webview can cause the screen freezes if I leave it couple seconds. At first I thought changing from android webview to chrome webview implementation changes this. It doesn't.
The "cure" I found is simply turning the display off for 40 seconds ~ 75 seconds, and turning it back on, where I can interact with lock screen fine again. Any time lower than 40 seconds will simply show the frozen display again the time I turn the screen on.
Is it possible it's a hardware problem? (faulty RAM/storage) after using this for 2.5 years) Since full system wipe and re-install doesn't entirely solve the problem. The first time I encountered this is when I navigate with my Google Maps and the screen simply froze out during drive, and I had to restart the device multiple times, worrying that my device is broken. The next time I drive, I leave it only on Ambient Display and it didn't freeze at all.
So... any idea how to troubleshoot this?
It seems the problem is more severe than just Android.
Because even in TWRP, I noticed the display need to wait ~1 minute from the last time I turn off the display (push the power button) to reactivating it.
If I try to turn it on, the display will give black color, but I still can actually interact with the system.

Can you enable "Show Tap" option in developer settings and see if theres any ghost touch happening, sometimes ghost touch can "freeze" the screen while you want to interact with it

Thanks for responding.
I already enable "Show taps" on developer options. But the problem is that the screen freeze happened when there was no touch at all (i.e. I just looking at the screen, reading)
There's new observation I made today that : usually the screen doesn't want to immediately awaken when I just turn the screen off.
Today I tried to remove fingerprint from lock screen, the screen now is able to respond quickly again upon pressing power on button. It's still as responsive to power on when I add pattern to the device lock mechanism.
I'm not too sure whether this is OS level problem or even closer to hardware problem because this kind of unresponsiveness is also apparent even when I boot to TWRP.

That is one big weird problem, i've never encounter something like that since i ever using a smartphones.
It does really sound like, it just a software problem. But if it also happen in TWRP, it doesn't look like it.
I also have installed LOS17 by Arian before too, and i dont have that problem.
Sorry man i have no idea nor expert about it
It could be your battery is dying?, if your battery cant give enough power to the screen already, screen gonna act like crazy i.e ghost touch etc.
I have a broken battery been using it for 2Year + because of the battery my screen has a problem too. I replaced it last december 2019 and everything went normal again.

I don't think it's a battery problem. I see that I can play game for 1hr+ fine. A game that require exact timing of 2 touches on top of that. So that ghost touch really doesn't appear.
But yeah, it's really 2 contrasting sign
- In one hand, it seems an OS problem because I can simulate an environment where the screen definitely won't be frozen for hours, while on specific other environment, the screen freeze can happen very quickly between release and re-occurence.
- On the other hand, the problem seem doesn't stop on OS level because it can be found in TWRP.
If I read an answer on Quora that shows GIF image on the section I read, the screen freeze 100% won't happen. I tried the same thing on imgur too, the screen freeze won't happen.
So it seems that as long as the screen is showing dynamic content, it won't freeze (that's why game and YouTube doesn't show this kind of problem, but reading a web full of text/static images can)
A bit of update : I have left my phone in off state for 4-5 days. And I have been using it again, albeit, less extensively since my main phone has changed to K20 Pro.
Long story short : I haven't encountered screen freeze again. But this is just after 2 days playing with less intensity.
I wonder what really went wrong.

Green tint only on unlocking device - acceptable?

I bought this used s9 for quite affordable price. Everything looked fine during testing except a greenish shade which happens only when unlocked and happens for like a second.
On searching internet, i found threads, yt videos by a number of people, almost all claiming that it is an update consequence. My questions are
1. Is it a software issue? If yes, can I expect some wayto solve - official ota or root and custom or old rom (if possible at all)?
2. If not software issue, is it a software induced hardware issue? Any way to repair without paying full for display?
2.1 If i get it replaced somehow, will itcome back again?
3. In any case, if I don't get it repaired, how long can I expect the deviceto be functional; ie before this green shade becomes permanent instead of being intermittent making device unusable?
Thank you
If it only happens for a second the only thing I be concerned about by the possibility of a rootkit or virus.
If running on Android 9 or higher and you did a factory reset already, that should have killed any unwanted critters.
Do a display check with ScreenTest. If it passes it should be good to go and just a transient glitch.
You've heard of The Matrix, right?

Hahah
This is something different. I asked a reseller and he said that such displays may last anywhere from 1 hour to 1 year.
Internet is filled with such questions.
Can you please help answering other questions if not this one, like if downgrading to older android possible or not?
The green only lasts for a second or so when opening the lock screen?
Never any other time?
Then it's not hardware.
AMOLED displays can last for many years. ScreenTest gives you a good idea of it's condition. Generally failure is gradual with the blue pixels failing first, red last.
The boot loader version dictates if you can downgrade or not.

So far, only immediately after unlocking. Haven't used much tho.
People say temp fix to all such issues is to Enable Always On display and double tap to wake screen instead of using Power button.
Can you ease tell which ScreenTest app it is? Playstore shows several with similar names.

Like I said if it's transient it's no issue.
This is the one I use:
Hi.
My s9 has this problem which everything turns green or worst, depending on the brightness level.
I can repeat the bug 100% of the time: just use the power button to turn off the phone two times: one to put into black screen and again to turn on. Then the screen misses some horizontal lines and is all buggy.
I shall record a video to share my problem but again, this can only be avoided by using aways on display to turn on the phone and then all goes back to normal.

Try clearing the system cache.
A hard reboot.
Try in safe mode.
A factory reset may help but if that fails try flashing to the same version. If Android 8 or lower it could be caused by a rootkit that a factory reset won't purged. However this isn't a typical symptom nonetheless the firmware maybe corrupted.
If none of the above works it's a hardware failure, likely the display.

Question Weird screen flashing/flickering/green tint

My 1 month old Pixel 6 Pro suddenly began to display screen flashing and flickering.
It starts a few seconds after the phone is unlocked or about a minute after the phone is turned on. If you leave the screen alone, so no touching, everything is normal. But once this issue appears, it won't go away until you turn off the phone or lock the screen.

Any ideas if this could be SW related or it is for sure a HW defect? Thanks!
Seller said they managed to fix it by factory resetting the phone and installing updates. Which I find weird since I did this multiple times before sending it back. Google seems to agree with seller.
I guess I just have to wait to get it back and hope for the best, but this in no way seems a SW issue to me.
But is it even possible that software could cause such issues?
I'm also starting to have this issue on the right side of my Pixel 7 Pro. It's not a severe as the video above but it's still noticeable

I expect to get my phone back this week or early next week. I will let you know if they really solved the issue and so if it really was a SW glitch as they said.
Got it back today with the issue "solved" but...it's still there, just manifesting in a slightly different way.

Phone is now back from Google assistance and the problem is solved. I don't know what they did but I suspect the screen was replaced in warranty since it had the protective foil on.
I forgot to update my story but, I made a claim to Google and went to a UBreakiFix store and got it checked out the same day. They replaced the screen for free and that fixed the issue.

This problem started on my phone several months ago and hasn't gone away.
Apparently when the p6p was released it was a fairly common occurrence - solved by software.
I tested various screen setups and found a way to use my phone ; I can't set the screen resolution over 51% , turn off Adaptive brightness, turn on Dark theme. Smooth display doesn't seem to have any bearing and if the phone is cold it is more prone to flickering.
Once it starts to flicker I use the slider to bring the level to its lowest and back to about 45%. Pita but workable (can't return phone for a screen replacement).
Managed to eliminate the flickering by installing magisk module AOSP Mods
(changed screen brightness in Miscellaneous/Screen resolution - set the slider to 50%) . Back to full brightness with no flicker.

My Green tint problem fixed by Lock/Unlocking several times fastly. Check this video if you have pixel display issue-
(seems like a software bug, google should fix this ! )
