[Q][HELP]Very very very strange problem with my GN - Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Hi guys I'm a new registered user, but an old follower. I'm here for a strange problem of my GN. In practice, when I open settings, play store, the browser, a strange thing happens: in pictures of gray, blue, white colours, appears in the background a picture of a conversation WhatsApp with the keyboard open (I came to this conclusion after 34503430 observations and it I'm 100% sure it is an old screenshoot, among other things deleted from WhatsApp). So i have done full wipes and also a super wipe and installed other roms but the problem persists. An other strange thing is that when i do a screenshoot the problem in the .png image doesn't appear. So i have taken some pictures with my S3 for showing you the problem. I don't think that could be an hardware issue, because the phone is very fast and smooth, the resolution and the colours are very amazing and all works perfectly. For me there is a partition of this file in the system files. So what could i do?
Thank you for reading and for your time, i've search but no info about that, thank you.

I'm triing to restart my phone from the original version and then i'll reinstall all. But if it will not work what could i do?

That's called a screen burn-in.
Do not use your phone all the time at maximum brightness. To fix this issue, try to put your phone for like 20seconds on a 100% white image covering the entire screen (including the navigation bar). It helped to remove my screen burn-in's
Although I never had the problem that my KEYBOARD O___O got burned in but I had it with the navigation bar but I fixed it very easily with someone's app (don't remember it's name but a user on XDA on the Galaxy Nexus forum posted it to fix the screen issue)

initially thank you for reply. So i'm reinstalling all the system now. The problem is not solved. Now i try your method. I must only set a 100 white image for 20 minutes at 100% of luminosity at full screen? i hope to resolve, many thanks for now.

I'm using tools for remove this problem, so what's the best for you?

GHOST IMAGE [Rom bug, or hardware issue, please have a look?]

Guys, I'm noticing i'm having this problem, where by the bottom bar for the windows today screen, is appearing everywhere, especially during volume adjust.
For example, i click volume button, it will bring me to the volume screen right? if i look very very carefully at the bottom, i can see a very opaque image of the bottom bar, even sometimes with the words "calendar" and "contacts" visible! a soft reset immediately solves this, but after a while the problem comes up again.
I've tried the following roms
Aztor
Dutty
Diamond rom
Swift SBL
all with this same issue. Is it a bug, or is it a hardware problem? I tried taking a screenshot and the screenshot does not show the opaque "ghost like" bottom bar with the words calendar and contacts.
I tried switching off Touch Flo 3D, and sometimes after a while, it appears again. It can be best seen when the screen is black (not off, just black) especially when volume adjusting.
Is it just me, hardware problem screen problem, or a rom bug that everyone has?
just to clarify again, despite it being visible to my eyes, SPB screenshot does not show this "ghost like" image, and it looks perfectly fine in the screenshot
I dont see that but I think it can be a sort of 'memory' thing of the lcd-screen.
Same problem here
Hi!
I have the same problem here...
the Ghosting comes after using the phone a lot so I think it might be because the phone heats up.
All the roms I tried have the problem so I think its an hardware issue.
Just keep your screen off for a while (not the phone) and I think it goes away.
Also TF3D has nothing to do with it...The problem happens with or without it on.
If anyone has a soln I'd love to hear it!
great to see that i'm not the only one. was worried sick that it was a hardware problem
Hi Baronic i've nothis more than a month back... see this thread..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=417629
also see this thread...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=420644
So you or me r not alone..
I used to be worried whether over next few days or weeks whether my screen will get worst, hence i used to keep screen very low brightness (with Spb shell)..
Over last 4-5weeks atleast there is no progress of the screen problem although it still persists..
Not finding a final answer, i've stopped bothering about it and just enjoy my diamond..
U r a senior member so, If u find an answer please dont forget to PM me..
Forgot to mention a tip... Keep brightness lowest and you'll never see it again.. (Although i like my screen to be brightly lit!!)
oh i didnt see those threads. primarily cuz i didnt know wat term to search for lol. if its a memory problem i think it can be fixed. will try and see how it goes, i'll experiment

Weird screen cluttering when trying to open camera

Hello,
Today me and a friend of mine noticed something really weird on the Nexus 5X. If you have the factory default wallpaper enabled (the one that appears on the box of the phone) and try to access the camera while the screen is locked the top of the screen starts to clutter.
In order to observe this you have to have:
1) The wallpaper set to the factory default one.
2) The phone locked.
Then you have to start dragging the camera icon at the lower right corner of the screen slowly without releasing. At some you will notice that a small portion at the top of the screen starts to clutter and display weird colors. At first I thought that this a hardware related issue (faulty screen) but I have verified that the same thing happen on other devices as well. Setting the wallpaper to any other, other than the default one seems to not cause this.
Both phones I tested this on where running Android 6.0.1 and had all the latest updates installed. I know this is something really minor and mostly unnoticeable but it would be really nice to know what could cause this.
I would never have noticed this if it weren't for this thread. It seemed to only happen with the default wallpaper as stated by the OP. Most people would never notice this because they customize the wallpaper and probably never use the camera shortcut on the lock screen.

Random top row of the screen not working! Grrr

Okay this has bugged the heck out of me for ages, maybe someone knows the answer to it.
The top notification bar (and sometimes the row underneath in certain apps) sometimes is completely unpressable, as if it's being blocked. I should note this happens on my Note 7, but has also occurred on my Note 3, my old S2 and even the S7. Which makes me think it must be a setting I choose, or an app I install.
Sometimes, I'll turn on my phone, go past the lock screen and I won't be able to drag the notification bar down. I found a workaround (which has worked on all my old phones).
- Turn the phone off
- Turn it back on
- On the lock screen try to drag the notification bar down (which doesn't do anything)
- Unlock the phone
- Then it works again!!
My mrs had this too, and my workaround fixed it.
This issue has spanned over multiple versions of Android and is now doing my head in.
Any ideas?
Some app overlay is on top of it such as: Flux, blue light filter, and things like that. Once disable the issue is gone. That might be your issue.

I would place a 90% bet on this being a carried over app problem. Have you tried a fresh reset and reproduced the problem?
Have you also tried the service test for Touch ans S Pen? *#0*#

I thought as much. I used to have Twilight installed but I deleted it and it hasn't solved my issue!

I think so too. One example I have an issue with is the offscreen memo function. I pull the stylus out and can write on the screen off, but the row of buttons along the top NEVER work! But, I should say on a hard reset it was fine until all the apps were installed and logged into, or a setting was put in place. The service test for S Pen and Touch works perfectly. All I can think is trying to install 1 app at a time, and seeing what happens as a result. Will be painful with 100+ apps though. I'm about to replace my N7 on the recall too so I want to hold off on a hard reset too.
I feel your pain, if it were me I would rather discover the erroneous app now than later. Perhaps a backup via smartswitch on PC (very fast over USB 3) and when you know which app restore the backup and delete the app accordingly?

By pure luck. I found it. 3 years of pain and I nailed the bugger! Something you said triggered a thought process.
It was....
Cerberus security! An app that automatically hides itself from the draw once it's installed so usually never crossed my mind.
Disabling the "Block Status bar" feature in Cerberus fixed it.
PHEW!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for this (both of you).
good for you!

Redmi note 8t huge issue with screen please help!

So I've gotten Redmi Note 8t half a month ago or so.. and about the time I updated to MIUI 11 I've started experiencing this weird bug.. Any app or screen or page or icons from the home screen or buttons from apps that remain turned on for some time (literally anything longer than 15 seconds) kind of stay "etched" on my screen for some time (relatively equivalent to the time the relevant app/screen/page was turned on).
I have no idea why this is happening so any help would be massively appreciated. A photo of the problem attached.
Ps this bug appears on every darker screen, not just on home screen.

the images don't seem to be loading for me, but looking at your description it appears to be a burn-in problem.
I'd suggest you bring it to a service center to have it checked.

Thanks for your reply. Try opening them by clicking on the link and then tapping on "view full image" - it's the only way they'll load I've no idea why, today the whole xda website behaved very unresponsive for me, maybe they didn't upload properly.
Anyway I've just now googled "burn-in" (yep I'd never heard about this before) and from whar I've seen it seems pretty similar to my problem.
Although, in my case, the icons/buttons/keyboard letters that "etch" themselves into the screen after being used for some time do disappear after some time (usually dependant on the time those apps/icons/letters were shown/used on the main screen.
PS The thing is new, I've no idea how this could have happened.

I had this issue with a Moto G5, apparently it is not permanent, wich is nice, because when its permanent like in the case of amoled displays, the only real solucion is to replace the display. In this case to minimize it I downloaded a blue screen filter app and lowered the screen brightness to around 70 or less, btw this usually happens when you are watching bright stuff or when the phone is hot, also try to use dark mode whenever you can.
FOUND A SOLUTION
After tampering with many a setting, I found out that setting the colour temperature of the display in the stock settings of the phone to cool renders the burn-in almost completely invisible.

nice to see your problem has been solved!
some LCDs have screen retention when displaying certain colour temperatures.
also, seems like your attached photos are working again

Question Weird screen flashing/flickering/green tint

My 1 month old Pixel 6 Pro suddenly began to display screen flashing and flickering.
It starts a few seconds after the phone is unlocked or about a minute after the phone is turned on. If you leave the screen alone, so no touching, everything is normal. But once this issue appears, it won't go away until you turn off the phone or lock the screen.

Any ideas if this could be SW related or it is for sure a HW defect? Thanks!
Seller said they managed to fix it by factory resetting the phone and installing updates. Which I find weird since I did this multiple times before sending it back. Google seems to agree with seller.
I guess I just have to wait to get it back and hope for the best, but this in no way seems a SW issue to me.
But is it even possible that software could cause such issues?
I'm also starting to have this issue on the right side of my Pixel 7 Pro. It's not a severe as the video above but it's still noticeable

I expect to get my phone back this week or early next week. I will let you know if they really solved the issue and so if it really was a SW glitch as they said.
Got it back today with the issue "solved" but...it's still there, just manifesting in a slightly different way.

Phone is now back from Google assistance and the problem is solved. I don't know what they did but I suspect the screen was replaced in warranty since it had the protective foil on.
I forgot to update my story but, I made a claim to Google and went to a UBreakiFix store and got it checked out the same day. They replaced the screen for free and that fixed the issue.

This problem started on my phone several months ago and hasn't gone away.
Apparently when the p6p was released it was a fairly common occurrence - solved by software.
I tested various screen setups and found a way to use my phone ; I can't set the screen resolution over 51% , turn off Adaptive brightness, turn on Dark theme. Smooth display doesn't seem to have any bearing and if the phone is cold it is more prone to flickering.
Once it starts to flicker I use the slider to bring the level to its lowest and back to about 45%. Pita but workable (can't return phone for a screen replacement).
Managed to eliminate the flickering by installing magisk module AOSP Mods
(changed screen brightness in Miscellaneous/Screen resolution - set the slider to 50%) . Back to full brightness with no flicker.

My Green tint problem fixed by Lock/Unlocking several times fastly. Check this video if you have pixel display issue-
(seems like a software bug, google should fix this ! )
