I have a ROM problem.... T-Mobil is giving a $325 rebate and wondering if worth the upgrade $$ ? Thoughts?
I like the 6p over the pixel in terms of build quality but pixel just slightly snappier but you'd be Happy with either one
One of my best friends has the 6P, and I have the Pixel XL. The pixel is a little faster than his 6P, but the screen is slightly smaller. He wants a pixel, but decided he would wait for the pixel 2 because 6P -> Pixel isn't that much of a jump.
basically, pixel is a little faster and ive noticed better speeds when connected to the same wifi network when streaming videos (honestly negligible difference). The camera on the pixel is way more detailed/

I agree I have both the 6p and the Pixel XL and while the pixel is a little faster the 6p is no slouch. Now that I have both I'm amazed how smooth the 6p still is. If you can wait just wait for the 2. Either way, though you will be happy. Now if you want a better camera then the pixel definitely has that over the 6p.

Meh... With that amount of credit I would go with the Pixel XL.
The camera is awesome.. The screen is great... Its the fastest Android phone I have owned.
I say go with Pixel XL
Just for the outstanding looking and ultra fast system I think Pixel wouldn't disappoint you.
What about developer support ? ROMs, TWRP, etc? I tend be bounce between Pure Nexus, Linage, etc.
Screen brightness is much brighter on Pixel if that matters. Especially after using Flars HBM mod.

I've come from 6p also, Development does seem a little slow in comparison. I think it's mainly due to the high price of the unit for starters.
Then there's the new partition layout which has understandably slowed things down.
Also a lot of developers are posting their builds outside of XDA now.
Let's hope that things pick up here.

What do you mean you cannot root the Pixel XL?
Is this because you have a verizon model with locked boot loader?
My experience has varied compared to some of these posts. I had the 6P and switched to the Pixel XL because of a problem with the noise cancelling mic on the 6P. (Google finally agreed to replace my 6P after I bought the Pixel)
I like the Pixel XL slightly more than the 6P. Not enough to switch if I didn't have an issue with the 6P. Both devices were smooth. I feel like the Pixel has a better build quality. The aluminum on the 6P seemed to dent easily and the buttons weren't very sturdy. Don't get me wrong, the 6P is a very sturdy phone but the Pixel seems to be sturdier. The screen on my 6P was brighter. The Pixel is hard to see in the sun whereas the 6P was not. The 6P has a 64GB option which is what the Pixel should have started at IMO. I had a 6P charging port go bad and had to get that replaced then the replacement had noise canceling mic problems (software issue on stock Android for the 6P) causing an echo for whomever I was talking to. This issue wasn't fixed after 3 security updates so Google replaced it. I haven't really used the replacement yet. The AMOLED screen on the 6P seemed to be affected by screen burn-in from the notification bar and navigation bar rather quickly (probably because it was brighter). Both have really good cameras but the Pixel's is better.
Besides that, the phones are pretty equivalent for everyday use. Both even handle intense use pretty well but the SD 810 in the 6P throttles the speeds regularly under heavy use when the ambient temperature is warm. I haven't experienced throttling on the Pixel.
I don't think upgrading from the 6P to the Pixel is worth it unless you can get the Pixel for the price of the 6P at the time you bought it. IMO, the big price difference isn't justified by the small performance difference.

The main reason i shifted to pixel mainly because of current bad battery life of 6p, i bought a new pixel XL 128 gb for 700$ ( someone bought it and then he is broke so he needs money) its true that i bought it at a good price, but i still feel its expensive and not convinced worth of upgrade

I forgot to mention the battery life. The Pixel's battery life is probably the one thing that blows the 6P away. I actually get through a full day with battery to spare. That rarely happened on the 6P... even when it was brand new. I can get 6+ hours of SoT on the Pixel and was lucky to get 4 on the 6P. If battery life is the absolute most important factor when considering an upgrade, the Pixel is worth it. The battery life is equal to, if not better than, the iPhone 7 Plus. Pixel has longer LTE web browsing battery life while the iPhone barely beats the Pixel on WiFi web browsing. The Pixel wins or they are tied in every other category.

Thanks for the great info around this, with the tmobile rebate and selling my 6P it is 100 delta. Plus battery life and screen brightness is an issue for me during the day outside.

I had the 6P for 360 days, when it went into the famous bootloop. Just watched a video on youtube, and it suddenly rebooted, and never got out of it. I saw the warning screen, the google logo for 2 seconds, and puff, reboot, then warning, google logo 2 seconds, reboot.... ..... That was my 4th android phone, but the first one that just broke (even the first phone ever that broke). I loved it, I loved big phones, I loved that it was a nexus, it was thin, fast, and I almost cried when it became a brick. I was astonished, when i discovered, that i'm not the only one. Many people, talked on many forums about the same issue (or about the battery dying at 50%), there was no solution, but to return the phone. I will never buy a huawei again. Never....
I returned the phone, and got my money back (on the same day when the guarantee expired....), and I have put some more to it, and bought a 128GB pixel. Yes, the small one, because who the hell has 1100-1200 euros for a damn phone ? (and also because there was no 128GB pixel xl around at that time ).
Where do i start ? This little thing is better in every way, then the 6P or, any other phone I held, or used.
Speed: The 6P was fast, but the pixel is 10 times faster. Everything opens in a moment, even pages in chrome, I can scroll a still loading page. Try to open this xda page in chrome, and scroll a bit down, then back up. The 6P lagged like hell, but there is no lag in the pixel. Try to copy files from the 6P to the computer (i know, who cares, but this somewhat benchmarks the internal memory speed), I was jumping like a monkey when i first saw that I copy files with about 30-40MB/s from the 6P. I did a backup of the pixel and I copied with 140MB/s IN..F*CKING..SANE! No wonder it is faster in every day usage... Ok. Speed is done. It is just faster, no lag, no thinking, loading, nothing. Just does eveything in the blink of an eye. Really.
Sound: The 6P sounds like ****... (I know there is the stereo front facing speaker, but who listens to music on the phone's speaker?) I use headphones, and I listen to music through those. And the 6P was **** even with mods (viper, dolby, .....) The pixel has the same DAC (digital audio converter) like the HTC10, which was famous because of that. And boy, does it sound good. The same music, same headphones, same mods, and the difference is night and day! Eargasm
Build: Just the most premium feel on a phone until now. It is sturdy. A little bit thick, but feels like it can't be broken. That Jerry guy on youtube bent the 6P in half like a piece of paper, but he couldn't bend the pixel. Only a little bit, so the the glass started to shift away from the housing, but it went back to normal when he released it. You could see his fingers shake, and going all white while he tried to bend it. Really. It feels premium. The metal, the glass, I love to hold it.
Screen: Now this is something I don't know. I own the small pixel, which is 5" and "only" full HD, but I must say the colors are much more vivid and the brightness is higher than it was on the 6P. I love the little screen though... It may vary on the pixel xl....
Battery: My god! I never tought this is even possible The small pixel has a 2700MAh battery, a lot smaller then the 6P's but man! I am an extreme user. Not playing but listening to youtube, twitter, browsing, listening to music through a ****load of mods, using at least 2 cpu cores all the time, using the camera, bluetooth/wifi/sync always on, auto brightness set to 50%.... The 6P was great, because I came close to 3hours of screen on time. I loved this. It was my first phone that I only charged once a day. But it was always empty at the end of day. The pixel? Same apps, same usage, same protocol all day, and it has half the battery at the end of the day. I can almost use it for 2 days. Okay, 1.7 days I have reached 7hours of SOT. it is usually 4-5 hours, but in some cases I can even go beyond that. During the night it drops 1%, or not even that.
Processor: I was afraid of the SD810 when i bought the 6P. I read all the articles, but said "**** it! It can't be that bad!". But it is It is ****. If the 6P had the SD820, or 821, It would be on the same level as the pixel, but with that crap, it is worse in energy efficiency, and performance. (and everything...) The SD821 is lightyears away!
Camera: I loved the 6P, because it took very nice pictures, even in low light conditions. I'm not a photographer, I know almost nothing about it, but when I shot my first pixel photo, I have **** my pants It's just awesome. In the dark, in sunlight, the colors, the sharpness, the details, there can be shades, and total sunlight on the same photo... Oh yes, and people who might know some things about photography, said that it is the best camera on a smartphone
Some small things that come with it: I know, it is not a good point, because you can enable it on any phone now, and even before, but google assistant is awesome And there is the unlimited photo/video storage, in original quality. Or that the support for the 6P will end soon, but you win an additional year with the pixel, because it is newer. The VR readiness.. And many many small things...
I wanted to keep the 6P, and I was angry at google when they announced the pixel with these prices. But now, I wouldn't go back to the 6P.. Never. The pixel is worth the damn high price. It is awesome already because it is damn fast. I love to use it. Sometimes I just turn it on, and open something just for fun, and because "maybe this will be the first time I see a lag, or stuttering, or something other than opening it in a damn moment", but it never happens. It just does it without any problems.
By the way, the community is also great, you have the same ****, PureNexus, RR, mods, same kernels (franco, elementalx), everything like the 6P, but I'm getting old, and in my experience, stock is always better then the things that are stuffed with "extra settings". Especially now, that stock android has multiwindow, and many great features from old times. I am only rooted because of tasker, titanium backup, and my music mods. The rest is stock.
It costs a lot of money, but it is worth all of it.. I would totally buy it again, If someone would ask me.

The Pixel XL is a stunning device, and I have no regrets switching from 6p.
Unlimited photo storage at full quality was an amazing bonus for me, as I take a ridiculous amount of photos and 4k video.

Exactly...today i remembered that I bought 30000 mA power bank and i used to recharge my 6p 2- 3 times a day... With pixel... i totally forgot the power bank!!! Im using the phone on a single charge with average of 5.5 hours SOT from bed to bed time ?(7 am till 10 pm) which is hilarious

Who's going to have an opinion on a device that has not been released yet?
For me it came down to durability. I work in construction, so an all-glass body like the Note8 would be less durable and more prone to breakage than the Pixel 2's aluminum body.
Pixel 2 XL just because of better performance becasue of stock Android.
Touchwiz (Samsung Experience) is biggest crap with micro laggs and big laggs after time ..
Never gonna buy samsung in the near future again.

I don't think you can go wrong with either. It will pretty much come down to vanilla, timely and guaranteed updates or the extras the Note 8 brings to the table. Note 8 is an amazing device and I'm sure the P2XL will be amazing too.
Well, the decision was easy for me. I don't like TouchWiz and I demand prompt, regular updates. Samsung is getting better about their updates, but they are nowhere near Google. My vote goes to the Pixel 2 XL.

I had and returned a Note8. The phone is ridiculously fast and I have always liked the Samsung skin. However I greatly disliked the curved screen because I found things near the edges harder to see. Also the phone is crazy fragile with the curved glass front and the glass back. Dropping it once would probably destroy my $1,000+ phone. In the end I sent it back.
I had the s7e, pixel xl, s8+, and now currently have note 8, I've grown to like Samsung skin quite a bit as it does have a lot of useful features, but my short time with the pixel I really enjoyed it also but missed VoLTE was I was with att at the time. But now I'm with tmo and preordered the pixel 2 xl, but only time will tell if I'll end up canceling it as I really do love my note 8 but it's frigging heavy! But I don't think the poled screen will compare to samsungs super amoled, and I would really really miss the micro sad card
I've been using note since it came out and I've loved every second of it. I'm curious if pixel XL 2 that I have ordered can bump it out of the daily slot

For me the pixel wins over the note 8 in pretty much every category except for the storage, not offering a 256gb version in 2017 is ridiculous..get with the times google.

I pre ordered my N8 and I like it as a daily driver. We just got root for it.
That said, my trading in my Pixel XL for a Pixel XL 2.
Not sure what everyone's fascination is with manufacturer's bloatware and in contrast labeling the purest android phones to ever be made as vanilla.
The whole idea behind android is that you can do more with it, google simply (finally) made an android phone how it was meant to be made. Hardware and software that work flawlessly together but yet offer so much more that iOS does.
People still want phones that the true android experience such as , quickness, flawlessness gets mutilated by so many manufacturer's getting their greedy little hands on them and pretty much ruin what android is supposed to be. And don't get me started on the carriers crapware.
I have had a note 2, note 3, s6, s7 edge, HTC evo, mottoX.........all of which get glitchy and turn to crap slowly after each new android/manufacturer/carrier update. BUT NO MORE I TELL YOU!
Go buy a Pixel 2 XL and see how flawless everything works for you, very similar to iPhones. With the major difference is still being able to do soooo much more than iPhones.
There is no comparison between google phones and other android using phones and iPhone anymore. Hell google won hands down lol.
Mine will arrive on Oct 24th at my door step. I will post about the experience I have with the phone later.

Every category except water/dust resistance, display size, features, screen quality and wireless charging. ?
I have an s8+ which I really like, but I cant deal with having to debloat the device, deal with bixby and all the other branded garbage, so I'm willing to take a slightly more ugly phone (imho) and screen in order to get more timely updates. I honestly would stick with the s8+ if they had a non touchwiz edition. The general public does not care, and I think pixel will remain niche because of it. I'll miss samsung pay, which is really nice being able to use old machines and not wondering if they have NFC or not.

I have an unlocked S8 plus on Verizon. Last year I had the pixel and switched back to Samsung for the water proofing. I missed the pixel. The camera on it was great and even my wife loved it, she is all about social media and photos.
I ordered a Pixel 2 XL this year because I'm used to the larger screen. I feel that if the Pixel 2 XL is the same as the Pixel it will be a good phone. For me greatness will be a better camera from last year and battery life on par with the S8 plus. I guess by the end of the month we will be either singing it's praise or complaining.

Well luckily for me i dont care about the IP rating or wireless charging.
The extra screen real estate granted would be nice for sure but id rather have a slightly smalller screen with front firing speakers.
Screen quality on any flagship these days will be great...sure if you want to not pick the note 8 is better but Im sure the pixel will be just fine to look at.

The Pixel 2 is water and dust resistant no different then the Note 8. IP67/68 is for all intent purposes the same, the only difference is IP68 can go to 1.5m instead of 1m. Unless you go swimming all the time with your phone I do not see an issue. Wireless charging and an SD card slot would have been nice, but after dealing with all the bloat and problems with other MFGs, I am ready for a pure Android experience and timely updates.
I thought I'd put my thoughts on this as well.
I had the Note 8 for 4 months or so, and have recently switched over to the Pixel Xl 2.
As choices go, it was one of the hardest when it comes to choosing between phones. In the end, the Pixel XL 2 won me over on points, some of which were personal, some of which were facts.
Battery - (It's better on the Pixel XL 2, than the Note 8. It's a fact)
I am a heavy user (Spotify, chatting, a lot of syncing apps + a garmin vivosmartHr+). Unplugged at 7 AM, the Pixel's battery is at about 20% at around 23:30 (11:30 PM). To me, this is spectacular. Leaving work at 6 PM, it's almost always at 50-55%, and that is with me using it for streaming music as I work, chatting with my partner between job tasks, and using it on my lunch break. The Note 8 never gave me this sort of longevity. I almost always had to charge at around...2-3 PM, when the battery was at about 30% or such. The Note 8 never filled me with confidence that it could easily last me a day. Same thing with standby mode. The pixel simply does not leak batter in standby. My note 8 always did, even after factory resets, even after using it on a factory reset with no apps used (as a test)
Camera - (The image processing is better on the Pixel Xl 2, than the Note 8 (opinion). However the Note 8 offers a dual lens setup, which is more convenient for people interested in zoom photography. (Fact))
The Note 8 does have the better camera setup - two cameras are better than one, hardware wise. When it comes to the images that come out of the phones though there is no comparison. The Pixel's image processing is out of this world. My cat was my test subject, and I took pictures of my cat in normal-lit environments with both phones. Samsung's processing made his fur look muddy on zoom. The Pixel had preserved 90% of the texture, as well as realistic colors. Portrait mode is also better with the pixel. Given how I almost never use the telezoom lens, I decided to stay with the Pixel (personal preference), but the fact is that picture quality from the Pixel is better.
Updates/Software version - (The Pixel blows anything else out of the water. Fact)
I care for such things, and once more there is no comparison. the Pixel gets updated far more frequently.
Things that the Note 8 just does better:
- Screen (Note 8 wins, hands down. Fact)
Here is where the note 8 obliterates the pixel. The pixel does suffer from rainbow effect (my unit not to an extreme), it does have a bit of banding tough nowhere near as bad as the V30 or previous generation OLED panels. The black smearing/smudging (whatever you call it, the fact that blacks smudge when you scroll), is there. First I saw it on the Pixel I was like - is this for real? I got used to it by now, but for people who do care about such things - stay away. In comparison, the Note 8 screen is the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. Bright, colorful, my unit had absolutely ZERO banding. There was a light red tint around the edges (Which I am guessing is due to the curved display), but nowhere near enough to be distracting. The Note 8 wins here, hands down.
- Build quality (Note 8 feels better int he hand - This is my opinion)
Both phones are well built, but the Note 8 is a class of its own. I prefer heavier phones (the Pixel feels a bit too light for me). Holding the note felt like you were holding onto a ton of technology in the most compact of packages. IT was a pleasure to hold. Personally, I don't feel the same for the Pixel but yet again - this comes down to personal preference.
- Tech/Pen (Note 8 packs far more tech. Fact)
I never much used the pen, so I can't comment on that. I won't deny though that the ability to keep notes on the fly is amazing. The Note 8 gives you that out of the box, and is a much better working tool than the Pixel or any phone. Useful in meetings, presentations, etc. Iris scanner was also useful, but I found myself using the fingerprint reader more in the end.
So why did I choose the Pixel XL 2? Well, the bits that the Pixel XL 2 does better were more important to me as a user, that's all. Mainly battery life, software version and camera (remember - I almost never used telezoom lenses in my photography life, but I always loved bokeh photography as well as street photography).
You can't go wrong with either phone. What you can do is tailor the choice on what fits -you- best personally.
Just wanted to findout your thoughts those who've used oneplus 5t or the new oneplus 6. What are your day to day usage views and observations in comparison to the pixel 2 xl. For me first I immediately noticed the pixel does get warm as am on the latest beta. Android p is also definitely smooth and what I miss the most from oneplus is the dash charging that thing is quick. It's too early for me to comment about the performance changes between the devices so I would really appreciate your views around performance in particular thanks.
Had a Pixel 2 XL, got a OnePlus 6, sold it and now I'm back with the Pixel 2 XL. Things I miss from the OP6 are the display (mostly because of the black crush in most pixel 2 xl displays), dash charging and the headphone jack. Other than that the Pixel 2 XL is better in every way for me.
EDIT: I really didn't notice much of a performance difference. I think the OP6 is a little faster but the Pixel 2 XL is smoother.

Basically everything except for the three things I mentioned. Battery life was about equal and I couldn't really notice the improved 845. The camera and software are so much better on the Pixel. I also like the panda color way better than any of the OP6 variants. The notch also kind of bothered me. I'd say the only reasons for getting the OP6 are if you really care about the extra performance of the 845 like for playing games or something or if the price/headphone jack is really important to you.

It's kind of annoying. Hiding it definitely helps. I think I dislike it more than the average person so take my annoyance with it with a grain of salt. One thing that did reaaaallly annoy me is because the status bar is on the notch, and theres no fingerprint gesture, pulling down the notification shade was always a little annoying because it's very high on the screen, definitely not possible with one hand if your hands aren't that big.
I've owned the following:
OnePlus 5
OnePlus 5T
OnePlus6
Pixel XL
I currently own the Pixel 2XL.
I loved my OnePlus 5 and regret selling it to this day because it would have been a great backup phone to keep around.
I Didn't like the 5T because it had some strange screen inconsistencies, and the vibration motor felt very cheap and "loose".
I got the OnePlus 6, and ended up returning it within 7-8 days. It was a good phone, don't get me wrong, but I will explain why I returned it:
The Camera
Probably the biggest reason. I don't know if it's because I'm spoiled with the 2XL's camera, but the 6's felt slightly below average.
The Notch
This didn't bother me too much as I am quite indifferent about it, however, losing the ability for centre clock is what bugged me.
The Vibration Motor
Similar to the 5T, the vibration motor feels very cheap and "loose" if that makes sense. Again, maybe I'm spoiled with the 2XL's vibration, but it is far more superior than the 6.
Development
I'm no developer by any means, however, I am aware that the introduction of the A/B slots causes for some challenging custom development. I had no idea the OnePlus 6 was going to follow this trend. I'm sure there will still be tons of custom development available for that phone, however, I would have preferred if it didn't have this A/B layout.
Price
In Canada, the device was roughly $890 taxes in, with a glass screen protector. Definitely not in the budget range, especially given the fact that I got my 2XL second-hand for only $750!
Speakers
Despite some speaker rattling issues and whatnot, the 2XL still has much better speakers than the 6. Front-firing and two of them instead of one automatically makes it much better.
I do miss Dash Charge though. However, charging times aren't extremely important to me as I'm always around a charger (two in the house, one in the car, and also have a 26k mah power bank).
The 6 did seem faster in terms of things like app launches (it spent less time on the splash screen compared to the 2XL). But that was about it; with my animation scale set to 0.3x, the 2XL feels just as fast.
I'm going to stick with my 2XL for the time being
I currently own a Oneplus 6 but have always loved the Pixel line up. This year i was wondering if anyone who owns both or has made the change from the Oneplus 6 to the pixel 3 xl see a difference. Is it worth it to upgrade or just wait to see what the Oneplus 6t brings. I love the stock feel from the pixel and although the oneplus has a similar stock feel i still prefer the look and feel of the pixel maybe because of the better screen not sure. Any comments or comparison i can be pointed to would be appreciated.
I had a one plus 5t, then Huawei p 20 pro and now 3xl. Your biggest upgrade will be the camera. No comparison between the Huawei or pixel camera to one plus, different league altigether. Oxygen Os is pretty clean and the One plus experience is very fast. You probably won't notice much of a speed increase. That said, Google integration is just cleaner with the pixel. I had few issues with one plus and p20 pro with Android auto and it just works with the pixel. Obviously you are doubling your investment so it depends how much your willing to spend. I got a good price for my p20 pro selling it on so got me well toward the price of the pixel.

I have the OnePlus 6 and just got my Pixel 3 XL yesterday.
I'll start by saying that I do love the OnePlus 6. It has a great screen to body ratio, crazy fast finger print scanner and has been a great all-around device for me for almost 7 months. However, over the past couple of months I found myself missing the overall "Google" feel that my 2 XL and previous Pixel XL had. That and the subpar camera on the OnePlus 6, compared to my old 2 XL, left me wanting to get back into a Pixel. In fact, the only reason I initially went from the 2 XL to the OnePlus 6 was the horrible washed out LG screen on the 2 XL.
With that said, the only thing I truly dislike about my OnePlus 6 is the poor quality bottom facing speaker. Audio from the speaker sounds horrible at low or high volume and it's way too easy to cover it with your finger when using it normally. It's the one thing that has driven me nuts about the phone since day 1.
Since getting my 3 XL yesterday, I've noticed a few major things, right off the bat...
1) The 3 XL screen (made by Samsung) is noticeably sharper, crisper and brighter than the screen on my OnePlus 6.
2) The haptic feedback from the 3 XL is a major improvement to that on the OnePlus 6. It feels almost on par with the haptic engine in my old iPhone X, which was phenomenal.
3) The stereo speakers on the 3 XL blow that single bottom facing speaker on the OnePlus 6 out of the water. The 3 XL's speakers are still not quite at the level of my old iPhone X, but they are the closest I've heard on any Android phone.
4) I forgot how much I missed the feature for squeezing the phone to activate Google Assistant. It really is a great feature.
5) That "Google" feel that the pixel line offers is even more prevalent in the 3 XL than the previous two Pixel's I've owned. I prefer this.
6) Wireless charging. If you have never owned a phone with wireless charging, I highly recommend trying it out and picking up a couple wireless chargers. It really is a game changer.
At this point, since you haven't ordered a 3 XL yet, I may actually recommend holding out a little longer to see what the 6t has to offer. It's going to have a significantly smaller notch and possibly other improvements, as well. I was initially planning on waiting to see what features the 6t was going to offer, but as soon as the credible leaks pointed out that the 6t would not have wireless charging, I decided to go with the 3 XL, instead.
I hope this helps with your decision, one way or another.
Yeah I want to wait off a bit for the announcement. The thing about the oneplus that it makes the phone slow down is that I prefer the stock pixel dialer and Google messaging so I have to use magisk to get the dialer and the messaging app. But for some reason the messaging app hands and crashes. Also the streen I wish they would finally go to a quad HD since they keep raising the price. And now with no headphone jack rumor I think I rather go back to pure android. Nice review.
I lucked out with a late build of p2xl, so the display looked good with the saturated setting. Could you tell the resolution difference between the OP6 and the P2XL? P3XL?

I can't even compare the screens of the OP6 and 3 XL to my 2 XL, because the 2 XL's screen was just so terrible, in comparison. But comparing the OP6 and 3 XL, the resolution difference is sublte. It's there but subtle. Both look grea. You can just tell the Samsung screen on the 3 XL is just a tad more crisp/sharp.

My main issues with the p20 pro was updates are a little slow, also android auto didn't work as well. I had issues with screen being drawn incorrectly on car headunit. Couple of niggles with software in general and Bluetooth 4 on the p20 I found my Sony headphones would loose connection in crowded places. Otherwise screen, form factor etc were good. The camera is probably more natural on the pixel but not much in it. It's a pity the pixel doesn't have advanced face unlock as the notch is surely big enough to accommodate it. So far prefer the pixel. Also knowing Google certify everything in the pixel is a little reassuring. Who knows really what Huawei are running in their phones.

@cherritaker I received my Pixel 3 XL on October 18th. I held onto my OP6 until I tested the Pixel. After a week of using the Pixel as my daily driver, I was very pleased with it. I have sold the OP6 now and am still very pleased with my Pixel 3 XL

Oneplus is faster at charging
better at doze (idle drain was stupid ridiculously low vs pixel 3xl)
and for one reason or another i'm getting faster LTE speeds on the OP6 where I live (can't figure out why yet)
Everything else is better on pixel 3

what overnight? .78% per hour? what are you using? betterbattery stats to calculate this?
I lost a whopping 12% last night and i had the same apps as i did on my OP6... was wondering maybe if aggressive doze wasn't on as itw as on my OP6.
Also, i will put mine up for sale then. it's 256 matte black .

I just came across a offer on the Pixel 3 and 3 XL 128GB, but I can't decide between the 3 or 3 XL.
How is the screen quality on the 3 compared to XL? Is it brighter, and is it easy to hide the notch on the XL?
Is the battery life noticeably better on the XL?
The XL has a nicer Samsung screen. The 3's screen is an LG.

I use the Pixel 3 XL, when I saw the Pixel 3 it looked too small for me, though for some people that can be a good matter. I think both screens are at an equal fighting ground For more context the the larger one uses a Samsung OLED panel, while the smaller one uses and LG OLED panel. The colors appear to maybe pop a little more on smaller one, however the larger one has a more true to life panel. I like the screen screen on my Pixel 3 XL it does look a little warmer than cooler. Hiding the notch is so easy and I think Google did it the best way because the top partially virtual bezel looks equivalent to the bottom. Nearly all apps mostly work with that, very rarely the UI looks weird these days. I get 5 hours screen on time with around 20ish left on a average day. Battery life should improve over time, I must warn you the bloody ide drain is ridiculous and to correct I only found by using scripts.

Go for the Xl. Better battery and nicer overall. I think it's also had more development as far as ROMs.

Any chance you'd be interested in PMing me those scripts. I'm coming from an LG V20 and it was a pretty mediocre phone but it's idle drain was phenomenal. Lowest I've been able to get my 3XL is 1.7% so far.
I concur on the XL over the regular version. Unless you specifically want a phone that is smaller and like to use it 1 handed then the battery life alone is worth the XL. The screen is better on the XL but it's not night and day difference and is not that noticeable

Check the forums for Blackened Mod, and to further elaborate I just mean that with these scripts, I drain 2%-3% over night I have not calculated per hour metrics.

Why the hell I couldn't synchronise S Notes data, with my computer, why Samsung ditched support for nearby places in dialer, why the hell Galaxy Watch needs so many permissions, why Galaxy watch plugin draining the battery - on Samsung device (!), bad BT range on Note 9, etc...
I ended up with the project to replace all stock apps with Google ones and had double of most of them. I found out that when you integrate most of the Google services, than the battery is not that good anymore. I ended up selling it.
Since I am used to Google services and I use them also on my computer, the Pixel line is the only good choice, I think - but I might be wrong...
I need:
Exceptional Camera, Google Photos backup in original resolution, wide phablet, not so tall, decent speed (I don't play games), good battery (Blackened Mod ???), reasonable amount of storage (128 GB?), front stereo speakers, monthly security updates and: I know that I can expect system updates to Android 11 and 12....
More demanding stuff will be only Office, Acad and that sort of app...
I am not planning to spent 1000 EUR on 4XL, 2XL costed me that much back then....
.... Maybe Oneplus 7T (it has an average camera...don't like it + an issue of not saving videos in appropriate format to use them elsewhere)??

I am not planning to spent 1000 EUR on 4XL, 2XL costed me that much back then....
.... Maybe Oneplus 7T (it has an average camera...don't like it + an issue of not saving videos in appropriate format to use them elsewhere)??

The Pixel 3 XL can be defined as fitting those requirements. The screen reminds me of a refined Nexus 6P, more phablet rather than tall. Blackenmod will better the idle time, there are other ways to increase battery like greenify. Original photo quality backups still exists for it and the camera is still exceptional today due to the nature and refined sensor. CAD software and Microsoft Office should run fine, I have used both not too long ago on it. The OnePlus 7T has more ram/storage if you really need it, and the battery is larger. I would say chose one based on what you value more/more updated hardware or a more optimized experience, both devices are great options though I personally would still chose a Pixel.
Go with the XL
Pixel 3 has better in hand feel, built a little sleeker and is a great phone. The battery was the deal-breaker for me. My 3 XL gave me drastically better battery life, so much better that I'm ignoring the hideous notch. They say you get over it but I never really did. I do like the edge to edge display though. The difference in battery makes me strongly recommend the XL.

I was even thinking about the 7 Pro, all sorts of things were crossing my mind...
But after reading This, I think that 3XL will better suit my needs.
Oneplus are great devices but as that guy said: Pixel line has "a little magic" over everything else...
The 3XL is on its way here, managed to get it for less than 400 EUR - open box and tested only....Will see if I made a mistake when it arrives...

OK I got the 3XL 64GB .for 370 EUR (someone tested it and returned it back to the Shop) practically new, hadn't found a single micro scratch
First impressions vey positive, no issues whatsoever, battery health OK (98%).:good:
I think that his phone is still a good buy in the middle of 2020, especially since it is the last Pixel with unlimited photo storage for original photo resolution until 2022
I am easily getting 6 hours of SOT, AOD included, full stock, unrooted.
Bought used 3XL. Great device for the money that it cost at the moment. Even with a notch
I can get the 64gig version brand new from sprint for $300 plus tax to buy it outright.
I'm sure this would be a huge upgrade from my LG G6,

I considered the 4xl when it was on sale for 600, but I really like the fingerprint sensor over face unlock
