slowness taking photo - Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ Questions & Answers

hi all I try a Samsung a70 and I find that the photo part is very responsive, compared with the note 10 or 9! when I press the button constantly the photos take quite often fast the speed at which I press. while my note 10 and 9 when I press to take a lot of pictures one after the other is extremely slow and the photos take very widely spaced. at home is it so slow? and what can be done to fix it?
Envoyé de mon SM-N975F en utilisant Tapatalk

Mmmm no, the note 10+ takes photos almost instantaneously, provided there is enough light for fast shutter speeds, you can take burst shots, where some 10 or more photos are taken in 1-2 seconds or so, in low light, things are very different, but in this regard ALL cameras are slower in low light enviroments, so, no, the note 10+ camera is not "slow" at any rate

hi, yes I was not talking about burst mode but to press the button constantly he took the photos with a spaced interval. I just deleted the data and clear the cache and it is fast again to take the picture. strange, because it is either the accumulation slows down or the configuration of the camera has my settings, at least on my note 10 and 9 it's the same I had to clear the cache and delete the data for that they are reactive.

Well, in that case, there is the auto optimization option in device care, it gets rid of all that kind of stuff once a day at a time of your choosing

yes but it is not a solution, after reopening I see that taking photos is not as fast as the finger. I made a video capture of the screen to show it. it is clearly not possible that I am the only one to have this on my devices or I am too demanding but I feel that the price of the phone is so expensive that it is mandatory to have excellent responsiveness.

Are you using an SD card and capturing photos to it? Based on your video it looks like the same type of thing that happens on professional cameras once the buffer is full. Usually, the storage becomes the limiting factor.

hello, after research I found where the problem comes from [emoji123][emoji108][emoji108] this morning I changed my memory card with the Samsung pro + 128gb and the problem was always the same ... so I looked elsewhere and the slowness comes from the activation of the option "photo with movement" which disable the photos are taken much faster. I made another video with deactivation and activation of the different options and image proof. thank you all

Well, good to hear that it was not really a problem, some features, although being good or useful sometimes consume big ammounts of resources

yes it is clear happy that this is not a real hardware or software problem because given the price of this phone we hope to have the best. thank you all and hoping that these deductions will provide answers to those who will ask in the future.

Galaxy nexus: still a good phone?

Hi Nexus user, i have a zte blade and i would like to change it, I thinks between a galaxy nexus, a htc one s or a xperia s.
The galaxy nexus is a "old" phone and i have few question about it, like the battery and performance: with a custom rom/kernel, the battery life is it good? (I am a heavy user) In hd games like nova 3, shadowgun, are there lags?
Thanks for all the replies

For heavy games like the ones you mentioned, I think you would be better off with something else. The nexus has never been known for hardware capabilities but for its software and dev base. For example you say the nexus is old, but what other phones you know that have jelly bean right now. Sooooo if heavy gaming is a big factor on your phone choice, you would be happier with something else.
Jellin' like a felon
I just got it last week and debated that. Although being a nexus old or not, you have the support. No other phone I know would have JB on it and I'm running it as my daily driver. I don't game much, but you know what, this is the best phone I've ever had.
Thanks for the replies.
When i said the nexus is old, i was talking about hardware (its for that i have used quotation marks), otherwise i know the nexus have the best software development (its one of the things i like with it).
Any baterry life report?
Envoyé depuis mon Blade avec Tapatalk
I agree with the above points. The Gnex was a bit disappointing in terms of hardware choice when it was announced. My sgs2 are way more better in gaming that that, and even a heavy live wallpaper works better on it.
If you are the type who dont care bout software updates and didnt get too excited like some of us when a new version are out, then go for SGS3/OneX/etc.... even Note/SGS2 also have better gaming experience. but why are you here in the first place anyway? must be because you hacked your phone for latest updates right? haha. ;p
if you are not the above type, go for Nexus. no point getting other phones. trust me, Gnex will actually live for 2 to 3 more major updates by Google I think. or maybe 3-4 given that the smartphones technolgy reached their climax on multi-core processors. i think battery or other elements should be focused right now instead of bumping core numbers. as a conclusion, Gnex have the support, directly from Google and you wont get bored with it. instead of waiting for custom UI updates from Samsung/HTC/etc~
EDIT : battery is quite ok if you ask me. My One X has been better though, with only the different of 100mAh. As far as my experience, HTC does best in battery standby time, and of course with screen on and battery usage. Samsung never got me a good standby time, always decrease over time.
currently my Gnex can reach 3 hours screen on, with stock JB with stock kernel. so i guess its pretty good.
So far this has been the best phone ive owned.. sure the cam is not up to par with the galaxy series, and no SD card. and a few other small things. But everything else is rock solid. Def saving up to buy a spare from the google play store.. thought bout buying a galaxy 7 tab.. but ive had a few tabs and i still use my phone more often.. I dont game on my phone. hell i gave up on console games outside of the wii once in awhile for the old games.. anyway i say go for it.
Galaxy Nexus is not actually "old" phone..
I used ZTE Blade which is really cr#p and small, I'm glad that i changed bought GNex! on my Gnex I have almost same battery life than on CM7 N257 on ZTE Blade!
Galaxy Nexus is good but about HTC one s I don't know nothing..
My Galaxy Nexus battery drains really quickly but that doesn't bother me, I'm using stock JB ROM and stock kernel!
Personally, its my favorite phone I've had. I came from the htc rezound because of the 1.5ghz processor. Then the RAZR maxx because I thought battery life was the most important. But the nexus is downright fun because of all the development and I've never had any speed or battery life complaints.
I don't think I'll ever get another non-nexus device now.

S3 is a little better, but GN is still good.

The S3 has a bigger screen than the GN in the same basic dimensions. Also has a better camera and more RAM. The clock rate of the S3 is 1.4GHz vs 1.2GHz on the GN, however a rooted GN can run at 1.65GHz and that feature doesn't matter anyway because even at 1.2 the GN is fast enough. Of the improvements in the S3 the only one that's really compelling is the 2G of RAM vs 1G on the GN, the other features don't really matter. Bottom line, from a hardware perspective the GN is still a competitive phone but the S3 is marginally better.
The standard battery sucks on the GN but you can buy a 3800ma battery for $20 which solves the battery life problem. I don't know if the big battery is out for the S3 yet but I'm sure it will be available soon.
Third party ROM support for the GN is very good, the Jelly Bean ROMs were available within hours of Google making Jelly Bean available. I don't know how easy it is to root an S3, you should check on the S3 forums. Assuming that rooted ROM support is available for the S3 then that would be the phone to get now, however if the S3 has inferior rooted ROM support then get the GN. If you don't want to root then the GN is likely to get updates faster than the S3. However Verizon is the real bottleneck for GN OTA updates so that might be a moot point.
I have had my G-Nex for awhile now and games play fine IMO but my last phone was an Optimus V. I also have a TF-101 for most of my gaming and it lags more than my G-Nex. I just ordered the Nexus 7 which will replace my TF-101 for gaming only. I will still use my TF-101 for just about everything else because with the dock it is really more of a notebook. I believe 7"- 8" is just the right size for pocket-able tablet
I made an even trade, my note for the nexus. Best phone ever no regrets. Note was awesome with the screen size and hardware capabilities, but there wasn't much for dev support.
Jellin' like a felon
I see that you are all happy with our galaxy nexus and its true that with all this software development there is enough to be happy ^^
For the gaming, i have asked this by curiosity, i play game, but not gameloft/EA games (i have a pc for this)
Can i now ask what do you like, what do you dont like with your phone?
Thanks
Ps: im a flasher addict too

I had HTC one x and thought it was the bees knees until I got the G-Nex...This is what I like about it:
1. G-nex now has jelly bean... And it's fast I mean really fast.. Feels faster than my hox and definitely smoother.. At least for daily tasks I don't get any slowdowns & I don't play games with my phone other than puzzle games..
2. I marginally liked HTC Sense and hated Samsung touchwiz but will never want to use either again after experiencing stock android.
3. Jelly bean now not 6 months or a year from now...that alone is worth considering this phone
Dislike:
1. No FM radio - solved by using tune in radio
2. No SD card and limited to 16 gigs - not a great solution but learning to use drop box more as result
3. Super amoled screen vs lcd on HTC one x- hox wins but happy to sacrifice this for the 3 like points above

Sorry to disappoint you but there really is no radio tuner. I believe this apps only work with certain brand phones but I haven't tested personally. However you call always stream online radio channels. As for me I personally use Spotify for all my music needs.
Don't let that discourage you though, the GN is a solid headset you're not likely to regret

You can use things like Tune In for radio over data. IIRC, fm depends on Bluetooth chip used and that the chip has the antenna connected to the headphone jack. It's all hardware related for most phones, there are drivers involved as well. GNex hasn't got the hardware that I know of.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using xda premium
actually i think for the radio it has to be because of the AOSP. I used to use Desire and SGS2, where Touchwiz and Sense have radio built in. When i flashed CM or other AOSP based roms, nope there are no radio anymore. Well they got it figured out thanks to MIUI.
I'm sure radio will come sooner or later, but as far as I know, dev dont listen radio much on their phones, as I heard some dev actually doesnt work on it cuz its kinda... well~~ i didnt listen to radio except when in my car driving to somewhere. at least thats what i heard from the a cm dev. they dont care bout radio.
well mate, dont let that change your mind. its just a radio.
Well, if i change phone, i think i will change mobile plan too. I have read a bit about the fm tuner, there is one but not connected --'

[Q] LG G4 vs Samsung Galaxy S6

idk if this is the right place to ask. My apologies if it is. I'm looking for a new phone to get and well, like the title says, which one is the better bet? I think i should state which aspects of a phone are actually important to me and which are not. I don't really care much for the "premium feel in the hand" and I'd as easily take the g4 as I'd take an S6. I'd rather have the removable battery and the SD card slot but not having them isn't a deal breaker. Performance, well, is the most important part of the phone for not only me, and i don't think I'm wrong to say, everyone. I'm not going to mention the camera because from what I've heard, you can't go wrong with either one. Battery life isn't a big deal for me. I don't mind having to plug in the phone during the day. And the biggest of the bunch is the developer support. Let me just say this now, it is a MASSIVE deal for me. I would never buy a phone without knowing if it would have support from developers. I slap on CM as soon as i get a phone and i know that CM won't be available as the devices are quite new but as soon as they arrive, I'll be one of the firsts to flash them. I've had bad experiences with touchwiz in the past so I think the CM part was worth mentioning as S6 uses an exynos chipset and there has never been much development for exynos variants of samsung's previous phones. This phone is going to be a 2-4 year investment for me so i want to know which one will be the better phone. Again, I'm sorry if this isn't the place to ask. Your opinions are very appreciated.
Get G4 with blind eye. You wont go wrong. As you say you are going to use it for long term, s6 battery is going to be dead and its hard to replace it. G4, got awesome camera. After a year or two if anything happen to battery (i bet it will not though) you can just get another one.
Performance is at best on G3 and G4 too. I wouldnt have switch to G4 if it didnt have best camera.
Lg is unlocking bootloaders themself, so sooner or later you will get root and all stuff. If you are out of space you can add as much as you can. Not like s6 , go on cloud or get another phone.
Im gonna go,ahead and say the G4 my mom has the s6 and honestly it sucks Wifi is always cutting in and out and even when she is on 4g that seems to,be a little on the wonky side as well now mind you it's a verizon s6 and I have the g4 and can say I've ran into no issues yet with it

My Verizon S6 has been running without issues. Both are great devices and the OP can't go wrong with either choice.
Battery life between the two has been pretty much the same for me. Both cameras are obviously great and it's hard for me to say which I prefer. When it comes to software, I lean towards Touchwiz since it just seems a bit more polished overall, but the software is really subjective.
As mentioned already, a positive about the G4 is the removable battery. Since the OP plans to use the phone for a while, the battery is a lot easier to replace on the G4. No need to send it to Samsung or a third party to replace the battery of the S6 with a new one later down the road. This isn't a concern for me since I keep my devices for a short time, but it may be something to consider.

I dont know about your usage but my roomate got S6 and he says its horrible for battery.
S6 camera is more saturated and more colorful then reality.
@OP, Both solid phones. In terms of overall performance, the S6 is better. Trust me I owned both devices and the first thing I noticed the moment I turned on my G4 and start using it is that its not as smooth as the S6. The G4 has better battery life and the removable battery is huge.

Here's some sample screenshots of my battery life for both devices.
Galaxy S6
LG G4
Not the most detailed, but it gives you an idea of how long it lasts between charges and SOT. I have yet to own a Lollipop device with battery life that impresses me (including the Nexus 6). There are people out there with both devices that have reported better battery life and crazy SOT, but these are my usual results.

Basically my same experience with the performance. My S6 is running encrypted and it's still smoother than the G4. I wouldn't call the G4 laggy, but there's just something about the S6 that provides a better software experience.
Both are great devices depending on what you value more. I think s6 has higher chances to be future proof because it already got fingerprint reader and great processor, while g4 processor is already outdated from my point of view. Also s6 feels better built, overall more complete experience. I have both, my g4 sits on my desk.

S6
Pros: speed, aesthetics, better software in general
Cons: Battery can be bad if not tuned right, WiFi isn't incredibly strong, storage can be an issue for some, camera images over-saturated and over-sharpened IMO
G4
Pros: Buttons on back (seriously, I kind of hate buttons on the side now. Subjective; YMMV), Better camera control, more ameliorating images, screen size, sd slot
Cons: Little bit thick & heavy, battery life could be better, squared edges are a bit unwieldy, software a bit clunky (but a huge improvement over the G3), somewhat sluggish compared to what a 2015 flagship should be
Well, seems as if G4 is the deal for me. Appreciation for everyone who presented their opinions :good:
One more thing, if we were to ignore the replaceable battery, would the s6 beat the g4? And will CM roms available for the S6 considering the Exynos processor?

That seems like a big "if", of course.
But, IF, and if the S6 also had SD, I would definitely consider it, personally.
Though the combination of a smallish battery that is also not replaceable kinda makes me nervous, even ignoring storage aspects. Batteries degrade with time, and I want to keep my new phone at least 2 years. So if battery life started out iffy, what will it be like in a year and a half?
The S6 Active would make me feel better, you're at least using a much larger battery.

Also it depends on the variant one is going to use. Out of the box Verizon's S6 has European LTE bands active and sim unlocked while the Verizon G4 only really has LTE bands for the Americas.
I probably would have gone with a European G4 to use on ATT as it has American and European bands but since I am stuck on Verizon the S6 made more sense. The S6 is fast and very smooth. Someone suggested it might be faster because it does not have to read and write to an external card.

@ione2380 I would be inclined to evaluate what apps you have installed/running - I got 4 hours of SOT yesterday with quite heavy use and the phone was still pretty cool. Warm on some more intensive things but not hot. My S4 was worse!
@dontpannic 10 minutes of pinterest or buzzfeed and it gets hot or downloding 2 bigger apps from playstore. I have just a couple of apps installed. Try playing plants vs. Zombies 2. My phone gets extremely hot after 5 min. of playing that game!

Here is what I'd say based on my limited experience with G4 so far, if you want best camera currently in market and a very strong device with amazing app support. There is nothing better than G4 right now. Yes things will change in a year but by that time G5 may be out. So you never know. I've used iPhone from 4 to 5S. Moved to Lumia 1520 basically for camera. And now on G4 - primarily because of camera. Its solid device and don't forget to get 128GB Lexar microSD. It rocks this phone with performance.

Should I get one?

Hi guys, so I've got the chance to get either an HTC M8 or an LG G3 and I'm leaning towards the LG but I'd like to know how it works and if I should invest my money in one... I would really appreciate the feedback (also sorry if this post wasn't supposed to be here, I'm a newbie [emoji28])

If you care my words, don't ever buy G3. It's overheat so much, it eats battery so much. So please don't buy G3 stay away from it.
Thanks a lot guys, I appreciate your advice... Those are really different positions but definitely help at seeing the pros and cons of the device... Thanks ?

I'm getting one today. I already read the posts about temperature issues, but I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that it won't be too bad. The user experience seems to differ allot so I'm gonna take that chance. I'm not a high demand user so with some performance tweaks it will be fine. A quick search on the HTC M8 finds overheating issues as well so you would have to go through the forums to find out which has more potential issues.

I couldn't do much research about the experience so I came right away here, thing is that I was leaning for the G3 as well since it does seem like the better phone compared to HTC, I mean even the camera is definitely better and what I really like is that the battery is removable... So even with the heating problem it's still a solid device.

Do you need more good camera, removable battery and bigger screen in same size of a phone or better sound, build quality with better battery life and more fluid UI? Its simple as that, I was considering to buy G3 or M8, and got G3 month ago, its ok, have some cons like every other phone. Every phones heats when you use it for some time. I just like how G3 looks and feels with that big 5,5 screen. Also some cons of M8 and HTCs market situation had some influence to get G3. Hope I helped

I get you, I have had the same "problem" as you, but I think G3 is more future proof, and it is better on paper when you read specs, but M8 is strong competitor, and more fluid because of smaler and lower resolution screen, also its the reason for better battery life. G3 UI is more interesting with more tweaks without root, and I like back buttons. Try them both in some store if you can, It will maybe help u decide.

I heard that some owners of Z2 bought G3 because Z2 was too hot, so I guess G3 is not the worst one. Its general problem with SD, just look at SD810, thats why Samsung and othes are now making their own processors.
m1l4droid said:
Well Snapdragon 810 is a furnace. It gets so hot it has to throttle to cool down, making utilizing phones lag. AFAIK all 810 using phones start to lag after some time of usage. This is why LG opted for the less powerful albeit much more stable 808 on the G4. Wise choice if you ask me. It may not offer the initial power of 810 before it starts throttling, but at least it won't start throttling that badly to begin with.
Oh and about the G3 battery, today it gave 12 hours of battery with over 6 hours of screen time, WiFi almost on constantly. I think that's normal, but I think it's rather premature to judge, considering I had the phone for 1 day.

I agree about G4, its G3 with better camera and SD808.
My best is about 5h SOT with about 1 day of usage, how you get 6h of SOT its impossible for me, whats your brightness and usage, done something to it or all stock?
Well I got the G3 [emoji1] went to the store to test it and the screen is simply amazing... Besides it's not as heavy as other phones and it's better in terms of internal storage compared to HTC.

It does look great you know I searched for it online and it looks quite functional and the 2.3 Ghz processor plus the 4GB ram are really attractive, but thing is I live in South America so here even LG phones are just being introduced per se, it's unusual to even see a Moto and HTC or even a Nexus.

Well, G3 got the awards for the best display of 2014 and the award "best smartphone 2014" at the Mobile World Congress of this year, so you did a good choice anyway

Unplugged mine at 8.00am this morning and it's still at 100% battery ( 4G BT always on )
Last night I was listening music and searching stuff online for about an hour or so and lost like 3 percent its crazy, other phones drain for just being on stand by hahaha... I've got a z3 that my office gave me as a corporate phone and LG is definitely far better in terms of performance.

Man, its impossible to lose 3% with hour of SoT, 3% can last up to 10min max with screen on. Only first % can last up to 30min, and than at average 3min per 1%...

Well the brightness level was almost 0% so maybe that's why also location was off just as WiFi (data only), and headphones were on a relatively low volume... Don't know man, worked for me that way.

I bought mine from Amazon a week ago and i am thinking of sending it back... It's a fantastic phone and the screen is amazing but this UI lag is killing me. I've read through heaps of posts to try and resolve and it's still there.
I don't want to give up yet, i have until middle of next month to return it i'm thinking of getting either Samsung Note 4 or Asus Zenfone 2 if i do return it.

G4 "stutter" scrolling

Hi,
I bought a G4 about 2 weks ago, upgrading from a Galaxy S3. I figured the high power of G4 would mean the basic tasks would fly.
But, I'm finding that scrolling in thr browser or tapatalk is stuttery. In tapatalk it's like the framerate drops to like 5fps, then if you keep going it seems to fix itself for a while and then revert.
Scrolling on websites meanwhile, can result in no scroll for a second or so and then a jump to catch up. And ive tried firefox and chrome and now the in built browser.
Other functions, like Sygic GPS, run a heap faster than on the S3. Poi search is now almost instantaneous versus 30 seconds or more, so the phone clearly has the raw cpu power.
Phone is totally stock and no SD card yet. I do have battery save mode enabled but I believe that only kicks it at 15% battery?
Looking for some help to narrow down the issue so if it's hardware I can get it replaced asap

Its not HW related bro.
The same is happening to me with tapatalk as well. I came from a HTC M8, Note 4 an GS5 where there`s not such problem like this =(

Lg's browser is smooth as butter, to me. I have not tried tapatalk.
Try with a factory reset
Ok will do. But isnt it effectively that when purchased? Was only 2 weeks ago.
I forgot about google syncing your life by default so have now switched of photos, uploads and chrome, and then swapped to the LG mail app and disabled the gmail app (can never find anything with the conversation sorting), and I the browser seems to have been smooth since. Facebook (in browser) still stutters but i think thats more facebook tbh.
Even tapatalk isnt as bad. Unless I'm simply getting used to it! Now it's 10 fps LOL. Seriously, I do notice that even when scroll in tapatalk is smooth, the font looks a little blurry and then sharpens at rest.
Fwiw i emailed the developer via play store to see if there's any incompatibility they can address with this phone.

sold my M8 and bought a LG G4...i don't regret the decision but the HTC sofware optimization with Snapdragon 801 is better then LG's with 808, the M8 didn't stutter and micro-lag as the G4, and felt snappier, even the battery was better.
Factory reset is useless IMO, i had side by side the M8 and the G4 and the framerate is horrendous on the G4 in almost all apps, not to mention Tapatalk,Chrome...etc.
The only good thing is the display, that's why i sold the M8, the body/display ratio is small.

is n7 a good choice for buying

hi
i want to buy a n7 but how shold i know the battery have not problem and the phone will not explode?

Trust Samsung too : you don't need a N7 when you can have the N8 ! It's only 3 time more expensive...
Otherwise you can just buy that N7 and avoid putting in your jeans pocket cause some day maybe who knows he might explode and doing some collateral damages [emoji16]
Seriously - If it's a V2 version you should be fine.

I have a note 7F since aug 2016, working really fine, 100% charging, running cool
One that I think wont explode
I know this is a long while later, but for anyone who doesn't already know. The Samsung Note 7 Fan Edition doesn't explode (as far as I've heard anyways.)
