Decryption failed Nexus 5X - Nexus 5X Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My Nexus 5X always shows "decryption unsuccessful" whenever I reboot my phone, forcing me to factory reset it every time. I am on 100% stock, no root.

Nexus 7 dead after original update MM 6.01?

Yesterday my nexus became the update for MM6.01.
After an half hour of updating the device was booting again I get the Android robot wit an open belly and a missind something message?
I tired to reboot with volume and power phused but nothing is happening?
Now I only have a black screen?
How can I bring it back to life?
Thanks and greetings,
Erik.
Use for example nexus root toolkit.
Make wipe in recovery, then flash stock latest 6.0.1.
Thankd for the help,
I will try it!
im on stock 6.0 and my tablet doesn't boot up after the 6.0.1 update install.
its stuck in infinite boot loop.
tired clearing the cache partition from recovery but in vain!
any help?
MMhh can get it to work?
Tried to restore/upgrade/downgrade and choose for oft bricked/bootloop and then select the original 6.01 image but all I am getting is not connected bacuse I am not getting it in the download mode?
It worked!!
After more then ten minutes trying to get in the the bootloader mode it was easy to use the program and the original image from https://developers.google.com/android/nexus/images#razor it worked fine!
Thanks for the help!
Yes, that is the way I got the OTA on with NRT and it worked. However, if you try to root the device afterwards it fails at the installing SuperSU and BusyBox installs. I can never find the files even though they are on the device.

Rooted phone bricked after 7.1.1 OTA - "No Command"

Hi,
I had rooted my 5X a while ago, but the root disappeared when I ran the OTA to Android 7. I never bother reapplying it, but the bootloader is still unlocked.
Today I tried applying the OTA for 7.1.1. It ran the install, and now my phone appears to be bricked - on boot it shows a broken Andy and "No Command".
I can go into the bootloader by pressing Power + Volume up on that screen, but nothing there I tried worked - clearing cache, resetting to factory default.
Does anyone have any suggestions for what to do?
Yes, happened to me few times.
(This is the only way I know how to Fix it, maybe somebody has another)
Download Nexus Root Toolkit, download factory image you want to flash, press "unroot and return to factory settings", and that's it, fixed.

That worked. I've now got a clean install but at least the phone is working again. Thanks very much for your help.
No problem, any time
I've found that NRT is the easiest way to root and flash something, so shouldn't be a problem to root again, just check Advanced options.

Well if somebody finds this thread like I did... before you restore to stock, go into TWRP (if you have it, which I assume you do if you have rooted; or run it via NRT/via fastboot), and make a backup of "/data" only (that includes apps and pretty much everything by the looks of it). Then, TWRP connects as ADB by default, so install ADB drivers (if not already; again, drivers may be left over from rooting), and copy the backup out of the phone while booted into TWRP.
Restore the system (I used NRT as suggested, thanks for the pointer), flash TWRP again, copy the backup back over to the phone, boot into recovery, restore backup. Tada! (the first boot will be long)
I also had "wrong pin" problem after restart, I used the advice from howtogeek (cannot post links; basically, nuke *.key, and locksettings.* from /data/system using TWRP file manager, after entering your old pin in TWRP). Only an hour (plus google time and curse time) later phone seems fully restored with all data and on 7.1.1

[HELP] Nexus 5X wont boot!

Hello, I have a Nexus 5X. So I installed the Pixel Rom (Cusotm Rom) also have TWRP Installed and unlocked bootloader. Then it showed that there is an update so I decided to update. After I clicked update, the phone restarted and then it said no command. Then I decided okay, decided to lock the bootloader and factory reset my phone. Did that and now it wont boot. It just opens TWRP recovery.
flash factory tot file.
Lock your bootloader, when you got all customize things in your your phone that could result a brick phone.

Error 7

So i recently soft brick my phone with a factory reset, seems like my files were corrupted or something. It was stucked at the Oneplus logo even though I could use twrp and fastboot. I eventually contacted Oneplus to help me out. They used remote access to wipe everything and reinstall drivers, so I think it essentially counts as a factory reset. Anyways, they solved my problem and since my phone was still rooted, I went ahead to flash OS 3.2.7 so that I can flash CM 14.1. Installing OS 3.2.7 went off without a hitch, but afterwards whenever I tried to flash CM 14.1, I get this:
Install Zip
failed
Updater process eneded with ERROR: 7
Error installing zip file '/sdcard/cm-14.1-20161121-
UNOFFICIAL-oneplus3.zip'
Previously, I used the same files and I never had this error, so I have no idea why its appearing now. Please help.
Thanks in advance.

Nexus 5x won't boot to android after restoring twrp backup

I have a nexus 5x with original 7.1.2 I unlocked phone, installed last twrp, root and took a backup to a usb flash.
I am in 7.1.2 nougat. I then flashed a zip for navSwap but probably wasn't for nougat. It crashed ui. So i restored from twrp only system.
Phone booted ok but afterwards i found out that bluetooth wasn't working. So i decided to restored full backup from twrp.
Affer this phone stayed in google logo but after 30 minutes didn't booted in android.
I wiped everything, and restored everything again.. Still the same, phone stays at google moving logo (this with the circles changing) but doesn't boot to android..
What should i do?
Thanks,
What is the best marshmallow light rom i can install through twrp?
I want to install xposed, so if backup doesn't boot, i prefer a marshmallow one.
I don't have experience from nexus as i have samsung many years.
If anyone could help.
Thanks,

Doing the same to me. Just restore backup, turn off the phone and wait a few minutes for cpu to cool down. Phone will then boot up normaly.
I guess it's because in TWRP phone reaches temperature that's in ROM defined as dangerous and thus ROM refuses to boot. Just my opinion though.

Anyway it never booted from twrp recovery..
I downloaded a nougat custom, booted perfectlly, and actually is much much better than original.
I'll keep this. I just lost 5-6 hours..

I'm having a similar problem.
My status- Unlocked bootloader, twrp accessible, devices not getting detected in fastboot mode by the pc, rooted, restoring using the backup and then booting doesn't go ahead the circle animation, correct drivers installed on the pc, superSU and full backup in the mobile.
i can't transfer files since device not getting detected.
my timeline- i followed every instruction on https://forum.xda-developers.com/nex...nners-t3206930 and everything went successful, but when it rebooted to the 'Welcome' page (the page which comes when u open mobile for the first time) i restarted my nexus 5x 32gb to recovery mode and then the every boot procedure doesn't complete for several minutes(doesn't go ahead the ball animation)
