So as per the title im curious whether the Galaxy Watch Active 2(SM-R820) has any issues with pairing to a Huawei Mate 20 Pro(LYA-L29).
Im worried because in the playstore review section(galaxy wearable app), there are mixed reviews about their compatibility. Some have mentioned that they have no issues pairing them and some complain they are unable to do so.
Are there any users who have tried pairing them?
Edit: After going through the feedbacks, i have gotten myself the watch today(29/11/2019) and you just have to pair the watch and it will immediately prompt you to install the necessary app and plugin to get the watch working. So its basically plug and play(Emui9.1). Leaving this here to whom it may concern in the future.
I am using the watch with Huawei P30 Pro and have no problem. The watch is functional great and paring is great. But I'm still with Android 9, I don't know with 10 how it's going to be, I read that there was any problems.

Thank you so much for your reply. Hmm i guess its ok to assume that my model should work fine too. Just to be safe i will be going over a physical store and hopefully they have a demo set for me to test.
On a side note, do you have google support on your p30 pro? Just curious.
Yes. No problem with Google app and support, have all of them and works normally.
I'm thinking that you have no problem with watch. It's great, I'm really happy with him. Come from Apple and don't believe that will have a android watch, who approach is very close to Apple watch, must say that is better. My only remark is whether app, don't know why sync is so slow, but my monitoring is that all Android watch have this problem.
Good luck and go get it
I use my gwa2 with my p20 pro, no problems whatsoever, just a lot of extra apps to download, which if you had a Samsung device would be native I guess.
The only two things that I have noted compatibility - wise, are:
- when you set an alarm via you phone, the watch will not register it as an alarm, therefore will not notify you. This has to be due to the fact that huawei alarm app is not compatible with alarm of the watch and therefore will not sync (although my notifications are set for the huawei alarm app..)
-there are some times when the watch gets disconnected from the phone, e.g. If I go out of bt range of the watch without my phone, but when I go back close to the phone the watch sometimes remains disconnected and I have to open the wearable app to press "connect" again.
That aside, the watch is great and I am so far astonished by its battery life, which is more than 3 days most of the time (WiFi off, all other on, relatively low brightness and goodnight mode set every night during sleep, in order not to vibrate in notifications but still track my sleep)

I have a Mate 20 Pro and it works perfectly as long as Android 9 is installed. Last week I upgraded to Android 10 and that's not a good match with the Galaxy Watch Active 2. I constantly have disconnects and sometimes can't connect afterwards so yeah you can use it but don't update to Android 10 yet! In the update notes Huawei already warned that the GWA2 doesn't play nice with Android 10 on the Mate 20 Pro, but I thought that it couldn't be that bad, but it is. In the same notes they said that there will be a fix but I don't know when it will be ready.

It's not that bad, it only happens as described in my previous post, that is if you go out of range and then go in range, sometimes it forgets to reconnect and needs manual connection

I might be unlucky but since yesterday I have many disconnections [emoji23] I think though that it might have something to do with an update in galaxy wearable app that was received yesterday.
Notwithstanding the above, I do believe that it is a great gadget to own and I repeat that the best thing that I have noticed so far is the outstanding battery life, to the point that I forget to charge it, yet never worry of running out of juice... [emoji51]

Current version of Galaxy Wearable and the Plugins (to support each watch model, we have a separated plugins) is not fully compatible with Android Q. But I think on 1-2 months, new versions that work with Q OS will be deployed.

Anyway i realised there is a running coach in the workout, so if i make a custom workout, does the couch guide accordingly?

There is this general conception of how Bluetooth kills battery and how you shouldn't leave it on.The Mi band is the only device that doesn't kill your battery at all(I mean it literally) and has amazing battery life. I've had it for a week and it's gone from 63-44%.It's battery life is fantastic. No matter the device you have, if it has Android 4.4+ and Bluetooth 4.0+ then it shouldn't drain your battery. It's connection is completely over Bluetooth LE in such a way that the Bluetooth settings show no device connected but it can be found using the app. This means it's using just the Bluetooth LE code introduced by Google with 4.3.So Don't ask about Bluetooth on blahblah.....It does nothing to your battery.

-No probs at all.I use it with my G2.I'll be switching roms to check but flawless on AOSP 4.4.
-It's connected to bluetooth all the time but it is completely LE unlike anything I've seen before. It doesn't show up in bluetooth devices and only its app detects it.Also the bluetooth icon shows bluetooth on but not connected unlike with a speaker or headset. This means it really almost never affects battery life as I noticed for the past 72hrs and that the connection is not active but completely on bluetooth LE.Syncing is done when u open the app without any pain.
-Call time vib is 3secs because it may need time to connect the band and send the vibration command depending on where you are. This is convenient if you go lets say to a store. It disconnects but as soon as u get back home say u have a call.Because the band doesn't need to be connected to ur phone all the time(power saving) it reconnects within the 3 secs and vibrates. But it's almost instant.Open an app on your device afresh and that's how long it takes.

The LEDs light up for calls, when ur close to ur goal(with 2LEDs) and when u reach your goal(3).Also for alarms, finding your miband and low battery(never had this yet). For notifications nothing yet.Vibs are only for calls.I wish someone would make an app for this notifications and LEDs changing with various notifications(it's a multicolor LED) for the mi band. It's only for calls for now.But it's xiaomi. That option may come.I got a firmware update when I installed the official app so yeah they do updates. This was obviously downloaded on the phone and pushed over and it took 20secs or so.

You never know if it is connected(only if u have the app opened) because it doesn't have to be every time. The band records data and when ur close it syncs when the app is open. The battery truely last long. It's on 51% from 63% after 4 days of intensive use. Also come on dude 10m is the maximum for bluetooth so don't expect magic here.

I would also have a couple of questions:
1. How does the vibrating alarm work? Does it wait this it senses movement in the half hour before the set time and wakes you then or it begins to vibrate at the set time?
2. Does this function work even if the phones Bluetooth is turned of? (are the alarms transferred to the band and the it can be independent)
3. How accurate do you consider the sleep/motion tracking to be?
Thank you
Click to collapse
Good second question.
1.It works well.I didn't quite get it's smart alarm feature yet but if you set an alarm it vibrates 4 times on your wrist at the time of the alarm.I set two simultaneously as i find it hard to get up in the morning. The smart alarm says it can get you up in a 30mins range from the time you set the alarm so maybe when it detects light sleep during 30mins from the set time it will get you up.That's the only hit or miss feature but you don't need smart alarms just do a regular one.
2.It is a transfered alarm unfortunately.During my testing I noticed the mi band stores only motion and its app translates it into steps,run,sleep,blabla....Alarms and call vibrations are all triggered from the phone so if your phone is off you would not get up in the morning.Buetooth off is not allowed.
3.The motion tracking is good it does a nice job at not counting steps when using your "mi band hand" like during eating or typing or even closing your mouth when you cough(don't put it on your active hand though, all fitness trackers advice this for more accuracy). It's accurate and on par with the best fitness tracking tech available. It's not like S health or LG health that can give you 100 steps just for shaking your phone. The sleep tracking is magical. It works so well for me.Detects when I'm about to sleep,in deep sleep, light sleep, get up at night, wake up time...It does all that so well and if it is off maybe just by one minute or two and seldom happens. The sleep tracking is a winner.Well the only thing is you get info on your sleep but how to make it better is up to you.

No.I've tried myself. It is completely over bluetooth LE even while syncing.Only miui detects it.I guess a dev will have to start from there to get the "universal" detection part working(ripping the files and porting).

You told a few post ago that you are left-handed (like me) and you wear Mi Band on your left wrist. I'd like to know why you are using Mi Band that way. It seems logical for me to wear it on the right wrist so you avoid movements like drinking water, using the computer mouse and so and just monitor movements related to walking, running, etc. I'm not sure if my logic is flaw. What do you think? Also I'm not sure if Xiaomi recommends anything about it.

I'm L&R handed but it is configurable for left or right hand use in the settings. You have to use it on your less active hand.It does a good job at not counting steps unnecessarily(using a mouse, greeting some one, typing .....).I've not seen it miscount like that yet.I'll post a video review here soon.Stay posted.

I can connect and sync from maybe 2-3 meters but for using it to unlock the phone it's just a few 10's of cm. For example, I am left-handed and have the mi band on my left wrist, if I hold the phone normally in my right hand it won't unlock, but if I move it too my left hand it will.

Hi,
Just wondering if anybody has tested the NFC functionality? I am currently using the Smartband - and I use the NFC on the Core with Xposed Framework to unlock my phone (Xperia Z1). Aside from dealing with the annoyance of having Lifeblog constantly launching upon unlocking - I find it quite useful without having to enter a PIN every time.
Not many details on the location of the NFC antennas on the SW3. Wondering if I can truly replace the Smartband with the SW3.
There is smart unlock feature in lollipop so it will not ask for pin if smart watch connected, I believe you can achieve similar with xposed or 3rd party apps on previous versions of android
NFC works
If you got NFC on your phone turned on the phone recognizes the watch by bumping and opens the android wear app.

If the watch is off, nfc contact also turns it on.
I was testing SW3 NFC with newly purchased Sony SBH-60 headphones. No luck - nothing activates. The headphones worked fine once manually paired, but in my opinion NFC does not work, most likely is not supported by Android Wear yet. Which would be another big disappointment - no LifeLog app on the watch, no sleep tracking with use of Watch, no Walkman app, now no NFC support.

Thank you BartManx, I'm also not an audiophile so I guess it'll be good to me too.
Until Android Wear starts supporting NFC, it's hard to test the full capabilities of NFC on the SW3. As others have reported, right now it just opens the Android Wear app on the phone.

According to the owners manual the NFC antennae is in the centre of the screen. Which makes sense so it can be used while on your wrist.

If you don't have Lollipop, but you have a rooted phone, NFC and Bluetooth can be awesome.
I hate using a pass code. I like waking up my phone and going right to what I want to do. However, if I ever leave my phone unattended, it would be nice to know that someone can't just get into it and start messing with things. So, I have a rooted LG G2 running Xposed. There is a module called: "No Lock Home"
In a nutshell, after you enter you Bluetooth address of the watch into the module, if you are wearing your watch and you walk away from your phone far enough to break the NFC/Bluetooth connection, the phone goes into lock mode (meaning you need a pass code or pattern or whatever you set up); once you come back into range of the phone, the pass code/pattern lock goes away and you're free from having to take the extra 3 seconds to "unlock" your phone.
Technology is the bees knees!!
There is an app called Skiplock which I believe is made by someone on XDA which does the same thing but without the need for root. You can use BT or Wifi for keeping the phone unlocked.
I'm not sure if my sw3 doesn't have (dont work maybe?) nfc or my nexus 5's nfc isn't working. Anybody could show me what happen when the sw3 is close to a smartphone?
EDIT: found it https://youtu.be/4YStUt_RPKs?t=5m7s
So or my nexus 5 nfc is fkd up or my sw3's nfc is fkd up lol
EDIT2: Ok solved. The replacement part I got for my nexus 5 was broken. I got use the nfc+wireless recharging combo from my old (original) back cover.

I used to be able to Ok, Google and say "set countdown timer 2 minutes and 30 seconds" and it did it. Now when I do it, it brings up a screen to choose between either 2 minutes or 3 minutes. Did this start with the last update, or is there a setting I'm missing?
Edit: I contacted Moto 360 chat support and their response was to take it back to place of purchase!!
I was just about to complain about this, it was so handy to set count down timer without the need to touch the watch. Now it will just show the blue bullet menu and you have to confirm by touching the watch.... stupid....
Many complaints about it on google product forum

Yes, I found that too. Hopefully it'll be back again.
Same issue with Lg g watch and google now on 5 different phones...
It seems like it broke on the last Wear update on the phone for me.

The issue has been posted in a few forums. I went ahead and did a review of Android Wear in the Playstore to report it. It probably won't hurt to have a lot of users report it via a review in the Playstore.
I think I found a fix for the countdown timer. On your phone, say OK Goggle, set countdown timer to 2 minutes and 45 seconds. (Any off the wall time will work). After it's done on your phone, try your Moto 360 now. It's working for me. If someone would confirm that it works, I'll rename to title of the thread to help others.
Problem is fixed now
They pushed update this morning.

Which update? I haven't gotten any update.
Edit: I just got the update, curious to know if the update fixes the timer issue. At the time I posted my fix, I had not gotten the update.
Idk if i got the update but i sure dont remember updating the Wear app. Although the fix you posted worked like a charm

The new Firmware 47.1.A.12.179 is out:
https://xpericheck.com/device/G8441
in Android-Hilfe.de Thread they write that the firmware includes Android Security Patch is 01. May 2018.
It is the May security patch. Couldn't find any other changes so far.
Good day.
I noticed that wifi now connects intantly.
Good news about wifi, although for me, the issues are so intermittent that it's tough to tell.
SmartLock settings are still blank.
I won't be able to test car bluetooth until tomorrow, so fingers crossed. Although I did discover last weekend that if I pause from the car's headset, it will display the currently paused song after 2, or so, seconds.

To fix the smart lock, in your security settings find "Trusted Agents" and uncheck Smart Lock, then reboot and enable the agent for Smart Lock again. Worked for me.

Doesn't work for very long, two or three days max, then it stops opening and trusted device fails to unlock
As long as it does come with 8.1 I'm not too interested. Whole reason with going with Sony was project treble for faster updates. Disappointing to say the least.

You really can't see the benefit of Treble? We get security update each month! I'd never seen such quick updating before Treble, on non Google's phones.
To compare: my Motorola X Force is still on October 2017 security patch :/

I have to agree with Didgesteve. The only improvement is that the SmartLock screen stays visible - it still doesn't work, but you can see it. The wifi problems came back. And the bluetooth is the same, to possibly worse. Yay! for security updates, but from a user perspective, this update did nothing, as far as I can tell. At least there are workarounds for the problems. It's still a huge improvement over the Galaxy S5 it replaced.
Disappointing - WIFI is unable to stay connected for more than a 24 hours. Daily restarts are needed. No solution even after 4 months of this ridiculous behavior. SONY should admit this is a HW issue and offer replacements or solve it ASAP.

I've never had this issue. I wonder if it's wifi ap/router dependent ?
Good day.
Because i have been having abnormal consumption with RCS Service, i tried this tutorial and it seems that the wifi problem that it sometimes takes long to connect has disappeared. (https://forum.xda-developers.com/sho...44&postcount=6)
And i now have a better battery life.

I have problems with battery drain after this update. Before the update, the phone could be used for more than two days without recharging and now I have to recharge after 8 hours without much use. Consequently I have deleted almost all apps from my phone and did everything reasonable (yes, stamina mode is activated). No success. Sad.
I have just bought a Huawei watch GT2 using with my Huawei honor note 8.
I get trouble with notifications system of the watch. I just receive notifications with vibration at first on the watch. But after a while there a no vibrations at all and no messeges on screen neither. Inspite of that I still can see messeges in Notifications by press the upper button. As I know, many people get this trouble.
And more, GT2 is too LAG. I am very very disappointed with it.
i think u need to factory reset your watch and reinstall the huawei health.

Again? ok - I have the same problem.
Although when I first had it, it was a different problem. I had it go from 60 to 0 battery in about 3 hours. I was very disappointed. So I reset and now am getting great battery life - over a week already, but I have the same lack of notifications as punter above. Especially disappointing, as I rock a Mate20x.
Still, I am happy enough and would put up with no notifications, as it does the four things I most crave. Long battery (at least now), count my steps, tell the time, and count my swim laps.
however, I will go ahead and factory reset and re-install the app now... bugger - I guess I will lose my swim data. damn!
