Suddenly weather came up on AOD. does it drain battery? - OnePlus 7T Questions & Answers

Hi ,
I noticed today that AOD is showing weather Temperature also. Just wanted to know if it drain battery and can it be turned off?

You mean Google weather notification? Suddenly got this, too. I don't think it drains battery but I deactivated it inside the Google app.

Ok that makes sense. It was there when i woke up. And now it's not there. It would be great if they have given some option.

You're right. Mistook it for the Google notification. The AOD weather is gone, too.

JB's troubled sleeping.

I know that the exact same thing happens on galaxy nexus with JB - the idle power consumption is about twice that than on ICS. Take a look at this picture:
http://imageshack.us/a/img801/707/screenshot2012102607460.png
Note how the JB device is constantly waking up. I have a theory that it may be the Maps app.
Anyway, does anyone know how to fix that?
UPDATE:
I just did some searching, and apparently, this constant waking up is the issue with Maps. One has to go to Maps/Settings/Location Settings and uncheck "report from this device".
I don't know how much battery is gonna be saved by this, but at least it, the waking up won't look as bad as in my screenshot.

I am not 100% sure but that looks normal to me you wakes should be a dashed line. Doesn't look like your battery is suffering so it is normal wakes.

The consumption was 9% in 8 hours. On ICS, it would have been 4%. The dashed line would not be as thick.

Yes, I disabled Google Now. I imagine that disabled the cards.
Also, just now, I disabled "automatically update location from this device" inside Maps settings.
I wonder if that could fix it.

I haven't had any sleep issues on my phone. I've got maps and nav installed and haven't touched any of the settings in them. I have, however, disabled Samsung push and related.

What about bad battery life?
FYI, the MAPS setting you mentioned was no enabled on my phone before or after the JB update.
However, Connections Optimizer was back enabled again after the update and has always been a major battery drainer for me.

FInd 7a - battery drain and solution thread

Hi
I have received the Find 7a . Tho only issue I have with that is the huge battery drain when off ( even with data and wifi off )
Therefore I want to create a thread where we can share the solutions for this battery drain issue.
PS: I am running ColorOS 2.0 beta
cheers

I dont understand why people keep complaining about the battery. I use my 7a a lot and the battery lasts me just fine and I have Wi-Fi and GPS always on.

It's a known issue, I'm actually in a pilot group with a product manager and developer using a new firmware based on 1.2 that seems to help.
In the meantime, change the lockscreen from Colorlock as that has been known to hold a wakelock and disable Google's location services.
After I did that on 1.2 or 2.0 beta my drain shot down to .5%/hr.
I too am part of said pilot group that Sean mentioned and can confirm that a more battery saving firmware is in the works.
Give oppo some time to work the issue out, it's starting to look better.

Freezing applications/disabling them is basically the same as removing them, except that they still take up space on the system. You can freeze applications using Titanium Backup as you said and if you have root of course. If you want to completely remove the applications you should get a file explorer that can request root permissions, then look for the applications you want to remove, these can usually be found in "/system/app/" or "/system/priv-app/". You can also remove them using adb, this is a little more complicated though, if you want to do it this way I'd recommend you to Google it. Be careful when removing files from the system though, as you may run into some weird situations, you can always make a backup of course. (when restoring back-upped files, remember to set the correct permissions)
enabling google location services do not have impact on standby battery drain, seems changing the lock screen and freezing default launcher (I use Nova) helped

I am not seeing any battery drain here. I am still running v1.2.0i and not rooted. I have the password lockscreen and overnight I turn off WiFi and Data and I lose 3% in 8hrs. Pretty good I would say.

I'm on 2.0 beta, changing that to Revolving lock and disabling Google's location services (gimps the phone a bit sure but easy to enable and gps is still fine) and my drain is down to .6%/hr. Not too shabby, and will be testing tonight with location back on.
have been using the find 7a for nearly a week now. all i can say is...be patient, people! the first 2 days i had it, the battery drain is unbearable(8~12hr use and it's gone), but after 3~4 full cycle charged (start charging when below 10% then fully charged using 'battery doctor'), from the 4th day, the battery is amazing, easily get past 24 hours of use with data and wifi always on, screen on time 3 hours+ no problem. my current used time: 34 hr 26 m, with screen on 2 hr 7m, battery still 33%. Google location service is on all the time, Google now is off all the time. GPS off most of the time. running color OS 2.0 beta.
so be patient and charge your battery for few full cycles.
i hope this may help you guys.
Even Oppo has publicly stated the massive battery drain is a known issue affecting all Find 7a phones sold to date so I'm thinking denying there is an issue is a bit silly at this point. Also 2 hours screen time with 33% remaining is a terrible performance that sits at approximately half of what this phones current competition is offering.
Having has this from day one I would also point out that one of the problems associated with this is the inconsistency. I normally will see around 15 percent drain overnight but occasionally its as little as 5 or as high as 70. The problematic part comes in when you figure I've spent most nights testing some new scheme to see if I've made any improvements to the standy life.
Nor do I think its a good idea to accept excuses. On my N5 I never turned anything off, bluetooth, wifi, google now, location, etc. All on all the time and never had a problem getting 4 hours of screen time and never used more than 5% over night. That would of course make it nothing special since I haven't owned a phone since back somewhere around the sgs2 that couldn't do the same thing and there have been lots of phones between here and there. You shouldn't have to turn the phones features off to get the phone to work, being forced to means you are getting a sub industry standard experience. Calling it anything else is a lie.

Help Me Figure Out Whats Making My Phone Die Over Night!

so recently my lg g3 been dieing over night left at 100% before i go to bed i usually wake up and its at 80-90%
this week my phone died 3 times over night. its really aggravating.
this time when i woke up it was at 5%!!
i thought it was led manager because on the wake lock it showed over 1000 wake locks
so i thought to remove and install a different one still same wakelocks.
this has never happened before when i used led manager.

What's with applock? On the last image right below led blinker. It was turned on even more than led blinker. Like 32000 times.
What SD card do you have and have you removed it to see if it is the cause. Have you recently installed a new app. Under settings, battery, usage what is using power. Under setting, apps, running what is running in the background.

Do you have any apps not running. You have almost no ram left and everything running in the background. Is gallery continuously restarting.

Back to app locker. Is the vault on board or cloud based? Is it possible it's trying to sync and can't make a connection to the server so it keeps trying.

I think if the battery was bad it would have less internal resistance and charge to full super fast too. Maybe try and swap a battery with a friend if you can or reinstall the stock software and keep your downloaded apps to a min. Maybe install a few at a time and see what you get.

Huawei Fan just got my Mate 20

I just got my mate 20 comeing from a mate 9 and there are a few niggly bugs to iron out.
1. screen brightness keeps reverting to auto
2. notification sound for apps like ebay and amzon not working (i think this was an oreo issue and now a pie issue. could even be app devlopers not optimising apps yet)
3. no random wallpaper option for this phone. dont want to use a third party app.
4. not easy to set custom sound options for individual apps
will list more as i find them
Anyone found any others?
The widgets were frozen once. I needed to change the screen resolution to bring it back to life.
Favorites contacts eratic when sorting, sort will not always stick, but it was the same with previous EMUI on my Mate 9.
For the auto brightness I think AI and energie saver do that on purpose. Got the same.
I got random wallpaper on lock screen.
Really, I love this phone!

I'm finding that my accessibility services keep getting turned off. I turn on services like Lastpass Autofill and Greenify automated hibernation, but they turn themselves off sometime later for no reason.
For the auto brightness reset issue, it always happen to me after a software update, but not at random
I'm also trying to play Drastic DS Emulator with Google Drive cloud sync to backup my saves, but the sync function is broken on this phone. It says nothing needs to be synced, when I upload it sends a 0 Byte file to my drive. EDIT: I think I fixed the problem, my WiFi was too slow. After deleting the data on Drive and reuploading the save file it worked
4 notification option is a lot harder to set due to Android9. My Note9 on Android9 is quite similar.

You can fix the brightness issue with adb removing the power genius application, this also fixed the auto dimming in manual mode. It also fixed an issue with background colour being a little gradient on a few apps.
I did this with My mate 20 Pro
ADB shell pm uninstall --user 0 com.huawei.powergenie

Non root, the only thing that's missing is the software usage in battery usage, the hardware usage is there. But you can see the app usage from the app settings.
I have noticed that the phone stays in optimised performance, I was having a issue with background on Huawei video and YouTube where after playing a video it was gradiented shades of the colour, this is fixed now. Also Google photos used to take a second to load in but now they load straight up.
I get about 8.5 to 9 hr screen on time that was with YouTube and Facebook which drains the battery a bit.
It's always possible to restore the genie app with a hard reset. The power genie is a supposed to help battery but is more annoying than anything though.

I also noticed small bug in the short weekend I had the device: I have the option to turn on the screen at each notification (because of the pretty small notification LED). On 2 occasions I had the screen turn on with a notification, then turn off briefly and turn back on with a black background and just the digital clock. I have the screensaver deactivated and pressing the unlock button fixes the bug.
I have issues with continuously disconnecting my Xiaomi Amazfit Bip smartwatch. I had LG G6 and never had this kind of issue. I tried to set Auto-launch , Secondary-launch and Run in background options for Mi Fit app on but to no avail. This makes my smartwatch half useless.

I just received my Mate 20 Lite and I'm having the same problem with my Samsung Gear S3 randomly disconnecting from the phone - which is annoying for so many reasons, not least because I am used to the watch unlocking my Galaxy S7.
I'm guessing that the BT is simply timing out to save battery but is there anyone who can confirm this and also is there a way to fix it?

Screen on Time app?

What app do y'all use to register Screen on Time? I normally use GSam but haven't been using it because I can't get the persistent battery % to not display on the notification area. It's like it's not turning off so I just don't use that app. I'd be interested to hear what some of you are using to see your screen on time.

It's been a couple of years since I rooted my phone and forgot I had purchased the premium version of EXKM. I downloaded it and figured if it lacks features if you're not rooted. Is this true? Maybe I'm not reading EXKM or the stock battery monitor correctly but I don't see a normal screen on time. In the stock app, would that be Screen usage since full charge? I want to make sure that would be the same as screen on time.
Thanks for your reply.
I see how the battery app and EXKM shows the screen on time but it seems pretty confusing. With my attached screenshot it shows that I have 7h 27m with 50%, but I've charged it over that time frame. I'm assuming the only way you can truly measure screen on time is by not charging from 100% until right before you charge it. If someone could clarify this and please correct me in my thinking if I'm misunderstanding how it's calculated or read.

Its just calculates the total SOT you have
If you want to measure sot after you have charged to certain % then hit the menu button 3 dots in upper right corner and you'll get the options
